ObjectiveTo investigate the correlation between neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR), platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio (PLR), systemic immune-inflammation index (SII) and the severity of intrauterine adhesions (IUA). MethodsThe retrospective study included 380 patients who underwent transcervical resection of adhesions (TCRA) from December 2019 to March 2025. Based on the American Fertility Society (AFS) classification, patients were divided into mild (n=61), moderate (n=225), and severe (n=94) groups. NLR, PLR, and SII were calculated from preoperative blood tests. Statistical analyses included Kruskal-Wallis test and ordinal Logistic regression. ResultsNLR, PLR, and SII were significantly higher in the severe IUA group compared to the mild group (P<0.05), with SII showing the strongest predictive ability (OR=1.004, P=0.001). The number of intrauterine procedures was an independent risk factor (OR=1.27/level, P=0.016). The predictive model [Logit(P)=-0.676+0.241×operation times+0.004×SII] effectively identified severe IUA cases. ConclusionInflammatory markers (particularly SII) are correlated with IUA severity and may serve as non-invasive tools for clinical assessment.

To explore the advantages of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) and integrative TCM-Western medicine approaches in the treatment of diabetic microvascular complications (DMC), refine key pathophysiological insights and treatment principles, and promote academic innovation and strategic research planning in the prevention and treatment of DMC. The 38th session of the Expert Salon on Diseases Responding Specifically to Traditional Chinese Medicine, hosted by the China Association of Chinese Medicine, was held in Beijing, 2024. Experts in TCM, Western medicine, and interdisciplinary fields convened to conduct a systematic discussion on the pathogenesis, diagnostic and treatment challenges, and mechanism research related to DMC, ultimately forming a consensus on key directions. Four major research recommendations were proposed. The first is addressing clinical bottlenecks in the prevention and control of DMC by optimizing TCM-based evidence evaluation systems. The second is refining TCM core pathogenesis across DMC stages and establishing corresponding "disease-pattern-time" framework. The third is innovating mechanism research strategies to facilitate a shift from holistic regulation to targeted intervention in TCM. The fourth is advancing interdisciplinary collaboration to enhance the role of TCM in new drug development, research prioritization, and guideline formulation. TCM and integrative approaches offer distinct advantages in managing DMC. With a focus on the diseases responding specifically to TCM, strengthening evidence-based support and mechanism interpretation and promoting the integration of clinical care and research innovation will provide strong momentum for the modernization of TCM and the advancement of national health strategies.

Body weight abnormalities, including overweight, obesity, and underweight, have become a dual public health challenge in Chinese adults: overweight and obesity lead to a variety of chronic complications, while underweight increases the risks of malnutrition, sarcopenia, and organ dysfunction. To systematically address these issues, multidisciplinary experts in endocrinology, sports science, nutrition, and psychiatry from various regions have held multiple weight management seminars. Based on the latest epidemiological data and clinical evidence, they expanded the guideline to include assessment and intervention strategies for underweight, in addition to the core content of obesity management. This guideline outlines the etiological mechanisms, evaluation methods, and multidimensional management strategies for overweight and obesity, covering key areas such as diagnosis and assessment, medical nutrition therapy, exercise prescription, pharmacological intervention, and psychological support. It is intended to provide a scientific and standardized approach to weight management across the adult population, aiming to curb the rising prevalence of obesity, mitigate complications associated with abnormal body weight, and improve nutritional status and overall quality of life.

AIM:This study investigated the role of solute carrier family 7 member 11(SLC7A11)in sul-fasalazine(SAS)-induced ferroptosis in acute myeloid leukemia(AML)cells, focusing on the inhibitory effect of nuclear factor E2-related factor 2(NRF2)nuclear translocation-mediated activation of SLC7A11 on ferroptosis and its underlying mechanisms.METHODS:SAS-induced proliferation in AML cell lines,Kasumi-1 and THP-1,was assessed using the MTS assay.Cell death inhibitors were employed to determine the mode of cell death.Lipid reactive oxygen species(ROS)levels were measured by flow cytometry;Fe2+,malonodialdehyde(MDA),glutathione(GSH)levels,and glutathione per-oxidase 4(GPX4)activity were assessed using micromethods.Quantitative PCR(qPCR)was performed to evaluate changes in SLC7A11 mRNA during SAS-induced ferroptosis, while Western blot measured SLC7A11 and GPX4 protein levels. Moreover,Western blot assessed NRF2 nuclear translocation post-SAS treatment. The NRF2 inhibitor ML385 was used to validate these effects.SLC7A11 mRNA and protein levels were then measured following combined SAS and ML385 treatment via qPCR and Western blot.Cell viability and ferroptosis-related indices were evaluated under the same treatment conditions.Furthermore,a shRNA vector targeting SLC7A11 was constructed to assess changes in cell viability and ferroptosis markers after SLC7A11 knockdown with SAS.GPX4 protein levels were examined following SLC7A11 knockdown.RESULTS:SAS significantly inhibited the proliferation of Kasumi-1 and THP-1 cells at 200 μmol/L and 300 μmol/L,respectively(P<0.05).Only ferroptosis inhibitors(Fer-1 and DFO)significantly reversed SAS-induced cy-totoxicity(P<0.01).SAS increased lipid ROS,Fe2+,and MDA levels(P<0.01),while reducing GSH and GPX4 activity(P<0.01).The mRNA and protein expressions of SLC7A11 increased during SAS-induced ferroptosis(P<0.01),where-as GPX4 protein decreased significantly(P<0.01).SAS significantly increased the nuclear-to-cytoplasmic NRF2 ratio(P<0.01),which decreased upon co-treatment with ML385(P<0.05).Following SAS and ML385 co-treatment,both SLC7A11 mRNA and protein levels were downregulated(P<0.01).This combination treatment further reduced AML cell viability(P<0.01),an effect reversed by Fer-1 and DFO(P<0.01).Compared with SAS alone, the combination of SAS and ML385 significantly increased lipid ROS,Fe2+,and MDA while reducing GSH levels and GPX4 activity(P<0.01).SLC7A11 knockdown was successfully achieved.Compared with the NC shRNA group,SLC7A11 knockdown cells showed significantly decreased viability after SAS treatment, which was reversed by Fer-1 and DFO(P<0.01).Lipid ROS,Fe2+,and MDA content were significantly increased(P<0.01),and GSH and GPX4 were substantially decreased(P<0.05).Moreover,GPX4 protein expression was considerably reduced after SLC7A11 knockdown(P<0.01).CONCLUSION:SAS induces ferroptosis in AML cells. It promotes the nuclear translocation of NRF2 protein, which activates SLC7A11 ex-pression.Inhibition of NRF2 or downregulation of SLC7A11 sensitizes AML cells to SAS-induced ferroptosis.

To evaluate the effectiveness of the modified post anesthesia care unit (PACU) discharge assessment tool in the field of bone oncology, in order to prevent and reduce postoperative adverse events in patients undergoing bone tumor surgery. This is a prospective controlled study. 81 bone tumor patients who underwent general anesthesia surgery in the PACU from January to December 2023 were prospectively selected as the study subjects. They were randomly divided into a control group and an intervention group using a random number table method, with 43 and 38 cases, respectively. The control group and intervention group respectively used the fast track scoring system and the improved fast track scoring system as exit assessment tools. Independent sample t-test was used to compare the duration of PACU stay, mean arterial pressure (MAP) at PACU exit, heart rate, and blood oxygen saturation (SpO 2) between two groups of patients. Chi square test was used to compare the occurrence of adverse events between the two groups. The results showed that there was no statistically significant difference between the intervention group and the control group in terms of PACU dwell time [(55.58±23.83) min vs. (46.14±21.87) min], MAP at PACU [(88.23±11.52) mmHg vs. (86.25±10.62) mmHg], heart rate [(86.25±10.62) beats/min vs. (72.93±18.86) beats/min], and SpO 2 [(99.84±0.68)% vs. (99.86±0.91)%] ( t=1.859, 0.805, 1.003, 0.101,all P>0.05). The total incidence of adverse events in the intervention group was significantly lower than the control group (68.42% vs. 90.70%, χ2=4.988, P<0.05). In conclusion, the modified fast-tracking criteria can significantly reduce the incidence of adverse events in PACU patients undergoing bone tumor surgery, but does not affect PACU dwell time and patient circulatory status.

Chinese Journal of Comparative Medicine 2025;35(1):147-154
Pulmonary hypertension(PH)is a fatal disease characterized by pulmonary vascular remodeling, ultimately leading to right heart failure and death.Current treatments for PH are suboptimal, with no substantial improvement in overall survival among patients with advanced PH.Despite some progress in understanding the pathogenesis of PH,further studies at the molecular level are needed to develop more effective treatments for PH.Recent research has shown that long non-coding RNAs(lncRNAs)have an important regulatory function in the pathophysiological process of PH,and may thus be potential disease biomarkers and therapeutic targets. In this paper,we review recent progress in our understanding of the molecular mechanisms of lncRNAs in PH.
