Objective:
To explore the effects of intergenerational parent-child separation on internalizing and externalizing behavioral problems among rural preschoolers aged 3-6 years, so as to provide empirical evidence for formulating targeted intervention strategies and blocking the intergenerational transmission of parent-child separation.
Methods:
From March to June, 2024, ten kindergartens were selected from rural areas of Nanling County, Wuhu City, Anhui Province, and 2 279 preschool children aged 3- 6 years, along with their fathers, mothers and primary caregivers, were recruited for survey by cluster convenient sampling method. Children s fathers and mothers reported their own childhood parent-child separation information separately. Information on the children s history of psychological and behavioral problems was reported by the primary caregivers. Information of internalizing and externalizing behavioral problems in preschool children was reported with Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire (SDQ).The Chi square test was used to compare the differences in the detection rates of psychological and behavioral problems among children with different intergenerational continuity of parent-child separation. Binary Logistic regression model was applied to analyze the association between intergenerational continuity of parent-child separation and internalizing and externalizing behavioral problems in preschool children.
Results:
The detection rate of internalizing behavioral problems was 27.5% and externalizing behavioral problems was 19.1% among rural preschool children. There were significant differences in internalization behavior, externalization behavior, hyperactivity impulse and peer communication problems among preschool children in different types of parent-child separation groups( χ 2=14.29, 8.80, 17.26, 13.84, all P <0.05). Binary Logistic regression analysis showed that after adjusting for covariates such as children s gender, birth weight, and delivery mode, compared with children without separation, intergenerational continuity of parent-child separation group( OR =1.95), only child separation( OR =1.74) were associated with significant higher risk of conduct problems(both P <0.05). Parent-child separation intergenerational continuation groups( OR =1.68), only child separation( OR = 1.47) were associated with significant higher risk of peer problems(both P <0.05). Both types of parent-child separation experiences significantly increased the risk of children s prosocial behavior problems, among them, the intergenerational continuation group was 1.99 times that of the control group ( OR =1.99), and the childhood only separation group was 2.09 times that of the control group ( OR =2.09)(both P <0.05). Compared with children whose parents and children had no experience of parent-child separation, children in the intergenerational continuation group of parent-child separation had increased risks of both internalizing and externalizing behavior problems ( OR =1.53, 1.65, both P <0.05).
Conclusion
All types of parent-child separation are associated with internalizing and externalizing behavioral problems among rural children aged 3 to 6 years.

Objective:
To investigate the impact of intergenerational parent-child separation (PCS) on allergic diseases among rural preschool children, providing theoretical guidance for developing targeted public health interventions.
Methods:
From March to June 2024, 10 kindergartens were selected from Nanling, Wuhu City, Anhui Province. A total of 2 279 children aged 3-6 years and their parents/primary caregivers participated in the survey by a combination of convenience sampling and cluster sampling method. Children s fathers and mothers reported the experiences of PCS during their childhood. The children s PCS experiences and allergies were reported by their primary caregivers. The International Study of Asthma and Allergies in Childhood (ISAAC) questionnaire was used to supplement the allergies (allergic asthma, allergic rhinitis and atopic dermatitis). Analysis of variance (ANOVA) and Chi square tests were used to compare differences between children in different PCS groups. Logistic regression models assessed the association between PCS and the risk of allergic diseases in preschool children.
Results:
Among the preschoolers enrolled, the prevalence of allergic diseases in only parent-child separation group in childhood, only child separation group, and the intergenerational continuity of PCS groups were significantly higher than those of the none separation group (38.0%, 41.8%, 48.1%,30.4%; χ 2=40.45, P < 0.01 ). After adjusting for covariates including child age, sex and body mass index, Logistic regression model revealed that compared to children in the group without PCS, those in the only parent-child separation in childhood( OR =1.43, 95% CI =1.06-1.94), only child separation ( OR =1.82, 95% CI =1.22-2.71), and intergenerational continuity of PCS ( OR =2.33, 95% CI =1.68-3.24) exhibited higher allergic disease risk (all P <0.05).
Conclusions
Intergenerational continuity of PCS is related to the increased risk of allergies in preschool children. The multigenerational accumulation of adverse effects from PCS underscores the importance of breaking the cycle of disadvantage across generations.

This study selected 6 529 plant-based Chinese materia medica(PCMM) from Chinese Materia Medica as research subjects and applied a random permutation test to explore the overall correlation characteristics between nature and flavor, as well as the correlation characteristics after distinguishing different medicinal parts and harvest seasons. The results showed that the overall correlation characteristics between nature and flavor in PCMM were significantly associated in the following pairs: cold and bitter, cool and bitter, cool and astringent, cool and light, neutral and sweet, neutral and astringent, neutral and light, neutral and sour, hot and pungent, and warm and pungent. When analyzing the data by distinguishing medicinal parts and/or harvest seasons, new correlation patterns emerged, characterized by the disappearance of some significant correlations and the emergence of new ones. When analyzing by medicinal parts alone, significant correlations were found in the following cases: cold and light in leaves, cold and salty in barks, cool and sweet in fruits and seeds, neutral and pungent in whole herbs, neutral and salty in stems, and warm and salty in flowers. However, no significant correlations were found between cool and bitter in stems and other types of herbs, cool and astringent in fruits, seeds, flowers, and other types of herbs, cool and light in leaves, fruits, seeds, barks, flowers and other types of herbs, neutral and sweet in barks, neutral and astringent in whole herbs and stems, neutral and light in leaves, fruits, seeds, and flowers, neutral and sour in whole herbs, stems, barks, flowers, and other types of herbs, and hot and pungent in whole herbs, stems, flowers, and other types of herbs. When analyzing by harvest season alone, significant correlations were found in the following cases: cold and salty, and cool and sour in herbs harvested in winter, and neutral and salty in herbs harvested year-round. However, no significant correlation was found between cool and light in herbs harvested in winter. When considering both medicinal parts and harvest seasons, compared to the independent influence of medicinal parts, 14 new significant correlations emerged(e.g., the correlation between cool and bitter in stems harvested in spring), while 53 previously significant correlations disappeared(e.g., the correlation between cool and bitter in barks harvested in summer). Compared to the independent influence of harvest seasons, 11 new significant correlations appeared(e.g., the correlation between cold and light in barks harvested in autumn), while 50 previously significant correlations disappeared(e.g., the correlation between hot and pungent in leaves harvested in winter). This study is the first to reveal the influence of medicinal parts and harvest seasons on the correlation between nature and flavor in PCMM, which highlights that these two factors can interact and jointly affect nature-flavor correlations. Further research is needed to explore the underlying mechanisms. This study provides a deeper understanding of the inherent scientific connotations of herbal properties and offers a theoretical foundation for the cultivation and harvesting of PCMM.

Pseudorabies (PR) is an infectious disease caused by the pseudorabies virus (PRV), affecting various domesticated and wild animals. Since pigs are the only natural hosts of PRV, PR poses a serious threat to the pig farming industry. Currently, PR is primarily prevented through vaccination with inactivated vaccines or genetically modified attenuated live vaccines. Developing safe and effective genetically engineered vaccines would facilitate the eradication and control of PR. In this study, the PRV vaccine strain Bartha-K61 was used as the reference strain. The gB protein was expressed via the baculovirus-insect cell expression system. Non-denaturing gel electrophoresis confirmed that the gB protein could form a trimeric structure. The purified gB protein was used to immunize mice, and the immune effect was evaluated by a challenge test. The results showed that the gB antigen induced a strong immune response in mice, with the serum-neutralizing antibody titer above 1:70. The lymphocyte stimulation index reached more than 1.29, and the level of (interferon gamma, IFN-γ) release was higher than 100 pg/mL. After immunization, mice were challenged with the virus at a dose of 104 TCID₅₀/mL, 200 μL per mouse, and the clinical protection rate was 100%. Immunohistochemistry, histopathological section, and tissue viral load results showed that the pathological damage and viral load in the gB-immunized group were significantly lower than those in the PBS group. In summary, the gB protein obtained in this study induced strong humoral and cellular immune responses in mice, laying a foundation for developing a recombinant gB protein subunit vaccine.

Stem cell treatment may enhance erectile dysfunction (ED) in individuals with cavernous nerve injury (CNI). Nevertheless, no investigations have directly ascertained the implications of varying amounts of human umbilical cord-derived mesenchymal stem cells (HUC-MSCs) on ED. We compare the efficacy of three various doses of HUC-MSCs as a therapeutic strategy for ED. Sprague-Dawley rats (total = 175) were randomly allocated into five groups. A total of 35 rats underwent sham surgery and 140 rats endured bilateral CNI and were treated with vehicles or doses of HUC-MSCs (1 × 10 6 cells, 5 × 10 6 cells, and 1 × 10 7 cells in 0.1 ml, respectively). Penile tissues were harvested for histological analysis on 1 day, 3 days, 7 days, 14 days, 28 days, 60 days, and 90 days postsurgery. It was found that varying dosages of HUC-MSCs enhanced the erectile function of rats with bilateral CNI and ED. Moreover, there was no significant disparity in the effectiveness of various dosages of HUC-MSCs. However, the expression of endothelial markers (rat endothelial cell antigen-1 [RECA-1] and endothelial nitric oxide synthase [eNOS]), smooth muscle markers (alpha smooth muscle actin [α-SMA] and desmin), and neural markers (neurofilament [RECA-1] and neurogenic nitric oxide synthase [nNOS]) increased significantly with prolonged treatment time. Masson's staining demonstrated an increased in the smooth muscle cell (SMC)/collagen ratio. Significant changes were detected in the microstructures of various types of cells. In vivo imaging system (IVIS) analysis showed that at the 1 st day, the HUC-MSCs implanted moved to the site of damage. Additionally, the oxidative stress levels were dramatically reduced in the penises of rats administered with HUC-MSCs.

OBJECTIVES:
To investigate the clinicopathological characteristics and prognostic factors of pediatric Hodgkin lymphoma (HL).
METHODS:
A retrospective analysis was conducted on the clinical data of children with newly diagnosed HL from January 2011 to December 2023 at four hospitals: Fujian Medical University Union Hospital, Fujian Medical University Zhangzhou Hospital, First Affiliated Hospital of Xiamen University, and Fujian Children's Hospital. Patients were categorized into low-risk (R1), intermediate-risk (R2), and high-risk (R3) groups based on HL staging and pre-treatment risk factors. The patients received ABVD regimen or Chinese Pediatric HL-2013 regimen chemotherapy. Early treatment response and long-term efficacy were assessed, and prognostic factors were analyzed using the Cox proportional hazards regression model.
RESULTS:
The overall complete response (CR) rates after 2 and 4 cycles of chemotherapy were 42% and 68%, respectively. Compared with the ABVD regimen group, patients treated with the HL-2013 regimen in the R1 group showed significantly higher CR rates after both 2 and 4 cycles (P<0.05). However, no statistically significant differences in CR rates were observed between the two regimens in the R2 and R3 groups (P>0.05). The 5-year event-free survival (EFS) rate, overall survival rate, and freedom from treatment failure rate were 83%±4%, 97%±2%, and 88%±4%, respectively. Cox analysis indicated that the presence of a large tumor mass at diagnosis and failure to achieve CR after 4 cycles of chemotherapy were independent risk factors for lower EFS rates (P<0.05).
CONCLUSIONS
Pediatric HL generally has a favorable prognosis. The presence of a large tumor mass at diagnosis and failure to achieve CR after 4 cycles of chemotherapy indicate poor prognosis.

Journal of Geriatric Cardiology 2025;22(6):578-586
BACKGROUND:
Our understanding of the correlation between postdischarge cancer and mortality in patients with coronary artery disease (CAD) remains incomplete. The aim of this study was to investigate the relationships between postdischarge cancers and all-cause mortality and cardiovascular mortality in CAD patients.
METHODS:
In this retrospective cohort study, 25% of CAD patients without prior cancer history who underwent coronary artery angiography between January 1, 2011 and December 31, 2015, were randomly enrolled using SPSS 26.0. Patients were monitored for the incidence of postdischarge cancer, which was defined as cancer diagnosed after the index hospitalization, survival status and cause of death. Cox regression analysis was used to explore the association between postdischarge cancer and all-cause mortality and cardiovascular mortality in CAD patients.
RESULTS:
A total of 4085 patients were included in the final analysis. During a median follow-up period of 8 years, 174 patients (4.3%) developed postdischarge cancer, and 343 patients (8.4%) died. A total of 173 patients died from cardiovascular diseases. Postdischarge cancer was associated with increased all-cause mortality risk (HR = 2.653, 95% CI: 1.727-4.076, P < 0.001) and cardiovascular mortality risk (HR = 2.756, 95% CI: 1.470-5.167, P = 0.002). Postdischarge lung cancer (HR = 5.497, 95% CI: 2.922-10.343, P < 0.001) and gastrointestinal cancer (HR = 1.984, 95% CI: 1.049-3.750, P = 0.035) were associated with all-cause mortality in CAD patients. Postdischarge lung cancer was significantly associated with cardiovascular death in CAD patients (HR = 4.979, 95% CI: 2.114-11.728, P < 0.001), and cardiovascular death was not significantly correlated with gastrointestinal cancer or other types of cancer.
CONCLUSIONS
Postdischarge cancer was associated with all-cause mortality and cardiovascular mortality in CAD patients. Compared with other cancers, postdischarge lung cancer had a more significant effect on all-cause mortality and cardiovascular mortality in CAD patients.

Chinese Journal of Hospital Administration 2025;41(5):383-389
Objective:To explore the impact mechanism of strategic human resource management (SHRM) capabilities in hospital clinical departments on departmental organizational performance, providing references for improving the overall performance of hospitals. Methods:The research subjects were 46 clinical departments of a tertiary public hospital in Beijing. Using a stratified sampling method, at least one middle-level manager was selected from each department, and 30% of the medical staff were randomly sampled from each professional title level within the department. A self-made questionnaire was used to investigate the SHRM capabilities of each department from September to December 2023. The organizational performance of clinical departments was assessed using the departmental performance evaluation system established by the hospital. First, the performance target values for each department in 2023 were set based on the historical data from 2020 to 2022. Then, the actual performance evaluation data of 2023 were compared with the target values to calculate the achievement rate or deviation. Finally, the comprehensive performance scores of each department were calculated by weighting. The performance scores of the departments in 2023 were used as the outcome variable, while SHRM capabilities, department size, number of beds, and whether the department was a key department were used as antecedent condition variables. Fuzzy-set qualitative comparative analysis (fsQCA) was employed to explore the combinations of antecedent conditions that lead to high and low organizational performance in clinical departments. Results:A total of 1 391 valid questionnaires were collected. The weighted average score of SHRM capabilities in clinical departments was (4.23±0.27) points, and the total score of organizational performance evaluation in 2023 was 70.75 (52.50, 79.47) points. The consistency of each antecedent condition variable did not reach the critical value of 0.90, indicating that none of them were sufficient to be a necessary condition for high or low organizational performance in the departments. Two pathways to high organizational performance and two pathways to low organizational performance were identified. The solution consistency for the high organizational performance pathway was 0.83, with a coverage of 0.35, and both core conditions, acquisition capability and maintenance capability, were present. The solution consistency for the low organizational performance pathway was 0.85, with a coverage of 0.08, and the core conditions, development capability, was absent. Conclusions:Different combinations of antecedent condition variables, including the strategic human resource management capability of clinical departments, had varying impacts on the organizational performance of clinical departments. The possession of human resource acquisition, maintenance, and development capabilities by clinical departments was an essential condition for achieving high organizational performance. It is recommended to strengthen the construction of these three capabilities and emphasize the coordinated development of human resource management capabilities to enhance the organizational performance of clinical departments.
