Objective:To explore the clinical efficacy of transcranial ultrasound stimulation combined with low-frequency neuromuscular electrical stimulation on the treatment of cognitive and motor function deficits in stroke patients. Methods:Ninety patients with cerebral hemorrhage in the rehabilitation department from July 2023 to July 2024 were selected and divided into control group( n=44)and observation group( n=46)randomly.The control group received conventional rehabilitation methods and low-frequency neuromuscular electrical stimulation rehabilitation treatment, while the observation group received transcranial ultrasound treatment in addition.Mini-mental state examination (MMSE), simplified Fugl-Meyer assessment (SFMA), modified Barthel index (MBI) and Brunnstrom movement therapy phase were used to evaluate the effectiveness of cognitive and motor rehabilitation treatment for all stroke patients. The data were analyzed by paired t-test, independent sample t-test, and Mann-Whitney U test using SPSS 26.0 software. Results:After treatment, the scores of MMSE (observation group: 26.12±2.24, control group: 23.08±1.56), SFMA(observation group: 24.83±9.02, control group: 17.24±9.51), and MBI(observation group: 68.00±7.03, control group: 49.66±7.98) of both groups were significantly higher than those before treatment(MMSE(observation group: 21.32±2.11, control group: 21.56±1.96), SFMA(observation group: 10.43±8.05, control group: 10.56±7.63), MBI (observation group: 32.34±7.65, control group: 32.00±9.73)), and the differences were all statistically significant ( t=-18.13--2.31, all P<0.05).The scores of MMSE, SFMA, and MBI in observation group were all higher than those of the control group, with statistically significant differences( t=-4.45, -4.51, -5.59, all P<0.05). After treatment, the observation group had more patients with Brunstrom stage Ⅳ or above in the affected upper limb ( Z=-6.236, P=0.045) and lower limb ( Z=-6.589, P=0.036) compared to the control group. There were more patients in both two groups with grade Ⅳ or above in the affected lower limb than in the affected upper limb ( P<0.05). Conclusion:The combination of transcranial ultrasound stimulation therapy and low-frequency neuromuscular electrical stimulation therapy can significantly improve cognitive and motor dysfunction in stroke patients. It can be used for the rehabilitation treatment of cognitive and motor dysfunction in stroke patients.

Background::The correlation between metals and hypertension, such as sodium, zinc, potassium, and magnesium, has been confirmed, while the relationship between aluminum and hypertension is not very clear. This study aimed to evaluate the correlation between plasma aluminum and hypertension in electrolytic aluminum workers by the Bayesian networks (BN).Methods::In 2019, 476 male workers in an aluminum factory were investigated. The plasma aluminum concentration of workers was measured by inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry. The influencing factors on the prevalence of hypertension were analyzed by the BN.Results::The prevalence of hypertension was 23.9% in 476 male workers. The risk of hypertension from plasma aluminum in the Q2, Q3, and Q4 groups was 5.20 (1.90-14.25), 6.92 (2.51-19.08), and 7.33 (2.69-20.01), respectively, compared with that in the Q1 group. The risk of hypertension from the duration of exposure to aluminum of >10 years was 2.23 (1.09-4.57), compared without aluminum exposure. Area under the curve was 0.80 of plasma aluminum and the duration of exposure to aluminum was based on covariates, indicating that aluminum exposure had important predictive value in the prevalence of hypertension in the occupational population. The results of the study using the BN model showed that if the plasma aluminum of all participants was higher than Q4 (≥47.86 μg/L) and the participants were drinking, smoking, diabetes, central obesity, dyslipidemia, and aged >50 years, the proportion of hypertension was 71.2%.Conclusions::The prevalence of hypertension increased significantly with the increase of plasma aluminum level.

Both anti-glomerular basement membrane (GBM) disease and the anti-neutrophil cytoplasmic antibody (ANCA)-associated vasculitis (AAV) are common causes of pulmonary-renal syndrome. Organizing pneumonia (OP), a special pattern of interstitial lung disease, is extremely rare either in AAV or anti-GBM disease. We report an old woman presented with OP on a background of co-presentation with both ANCA and anti-GBM antibodies.

This study aims to explore the electrophysiological properties and changes in gene expression of basket cells, a unique population of GABAergic interneurons expressing parvalbumin (PV), during the postnatal development of mouse prefrontal cortex (PFC). Toward this goal, we took use of the G42 transgenic mouse line which specifically expresses enhanced green fluorescent protein (EGFP) in basket cells. The brain slices of PFC were prepared from the postnatal 7 (P7), 14 (P14) and 21 days (P42) G42 mice and whole-cell patch clamp recording was performed in basket cells. In addition, we sorted the basket cells by flow cytometry and analyzed their transcription profiling on P7, P14, and P21 using RNA-seq technology. The results showed that the resting membrane potential and membrane input resistance decreased gradually from P7 to P21. The amplitude and duration of action potential of basket cells increased and decreased from P7 to P21, respectively. In contrast, the threshold of action potential of basket cells did not have a significant change from P7 to P21. The frequency of spontaneous excitatory postsynaptic currents (sEPSCs) of basket cells increased gradually, while the amplitudes of sEPSCs of basket cells remained constant from P7 to P21. RNA sequencing from basket cells revealed that the expression of 22 and 660 genes was upregulated and downregulated from P7 to P14, respectively. By contrast, the expression of 107 and 69 genes was upregulated and downregulated from P14 to P21, respectively. The differentially expressed genes in basket cells from P7 to P21 were significantly enriched in pathways such as neuron apoptotic process, mRNA processing, Golgi vesicle transport and axon guidance. Altogether, we characterized electrophysiological properties and changes in gene expression of basket cells during the postnatal development in mouse PFC. These results provide insight into the mechanisms underlying the development of basket cells in mouse cortex.
