The repair of bone defects is heavily influenced by the dynamic osteogenic microenvironment. Static scaffolds constructed by traditional 3D printing technology cannot simulate the dynamic nature of the microenvironment during bone defect repair due to the fixed structure, uncontrollable release of active factors, and difficult regeneration of blood vessels, among other factors. Breaking through the limitations of these static scaffolds and realizing the intelligent and dynamic regulation of the osteogenic microenvironment is a key scientific issue in the field of bone tissue engineering. 4D printing technology combines the dynamic responsiveness of bone restoration materials with the concept of intelligent design to regulate the micro and macro structure of scaffolds. This technology provides a new method for bone tissue engineering by responding to endogenous and exogenous stimuli and creating a better osteogenic microenvironment through functionalized design, including drug delivery and antibacterial function. However, this technology currently suffers from challenges related to dynamic response material design, insufficient precision of printing technology, and mismatches between multi-stimulus response systems, metabolic rhythms of bone tissue, and functionalized composite scaffolds. Future research should focus on the development of smart response materials with excellent dynamic responses and bioactivity, the creation of new printing technologies, and the design of personalized and precise bone repair solutions. The aim of this paper is to review the current research status of 4D printing for bone tissue engineering in terms of material types, response mechanisms, and applications to provide a theoretical basis for the development and clinical application of functional bone repair materials in the future.

Ulcerative colitis (UC), a chronic relapsing inflammatory bowel disease, involves multifaceted pathological mechanisms such as intestinal barrier dysfunction, immune dysregulation, and oxidative stress. Current therapeutic strategies remain limited in efficacy and safety. In recent years, the adenosine monophosphate-activated protein kinase (AMPK) signaling pathway has emerged as a pivotal therapeutic target for UC due to its central role in energy metabolism, inflammatory regulation, and intestinal homeostasis. This article systematically reviewed the mechanisms by which traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) prevented and treated UC through the regulation of the AMPK signaling pathway, with a focus on elucidating AMPK's multidimensional regulatory network in inflammatory signaling crosstalk, alleviating oxidative stress, restoring intestinal immune balance, repairing the intestinal barrier, and modulating gut microbiota. Leveraging its unique advantages of multi-target engagement and low toxicity, TCM demonstrates promising potential in UC treatment and has become a focal area of research. By systematically summarizing and synthesizing the existing literature on TCM-mediated AMPK pathway modulation in UC, this review aims to provide a theoretical foundation for advancing mechanistic research and clinical interventions in UC.

ObjectiveTo delineate imaging findings using an imaging platform and investigate the correlation between MRI characteristics of spinal cord atrophy and clinical diagnosis in children with spinal cord injury (SCI). MethodsImaging data of 150 children with SCI admitted to Beijing Bo'ai Hospital, China Rehabilitation Research Center, from January, 2002 to March, 2024 were collected and imported into the imaging platform. The anteroposterior and transverse diameters of the middle part of the spinal cord at the cross-section with the most severe atrophy were measured, and the relevant indicators of the previous normal spinal cord segment were measured as controls; the radiomic features were extracted. Clinical data of the children including gender, age, cause of injury, sensory level, motor level, spinal cord injury level, injury severity and disease course were collected. ResultsSpinal cord atrophy was identified in 81 cases (54%), among which 78 cases (96%) were American Spinal Injury Association Impairment Scale (AIS) grade A and 3 cases (4%) were AIS grade C. The upper boundary of the spinal cord atrophy site strongly correlated with the injury level, motor level and sensory level (r > 0.8, P < 0.001). ConclusionMore than half of children with SCI may develop secondary spinal cord atrophy, the vast majority of whom suffer from complete spinal cord injury; the upper boundary of spinal cord atrophy is correlated with the injury level.

Purpose To investigate interhemispheric homotopic functional connectivity in patients with neuropsychological systemic lupus erythematosus(NPSLE)during resting state and its relationship with clinical indicators and neuropsychological scales.Materials and Methods This prospective study enrolled 35 patients with NPSLE and 31 healthy controls(control group)from Taizhou People's Hospital Affiliated to Nanjing Medical University(June 2020 to March 2023).All participants underwent resting state functional MRI and completed neuropsychological assessments including mini-mental state examination,Montreal cognitive assessment, hospital anxiety and depression scale, fatigue scale for motor and cognitive functions, along with laboratory tests(C3,C4,IgA,IgM,IgG).Image preprocessing and voxel-mirrored homotopic connectivity(VMHC)calculations were performed using DPABI V7.0 on Matlab R2013b.Between-group differences in VMHC values were compared, and correlations between VMHC values in significant regions and neuropsychological/clinical data were analyzed. Results The NPSLE group demonstrated significantly lower mini-mental state examination and Montreal cognitive assessment scores compared with those in control group(t=-6.297,-7.001,both P=0.001).Patients with NPSLE exhibited significantly decreased VMHC values in bilateral parahippocampal gyri, precentral gyri, middle frontal gyri, and medial/paracingulate gyri compared with those in control group(family-wise error corrected,voxel-level P<0.001,cluster-level P<0.05).In the NPSLE group,VMHC values in precentral gyri showed positive correlation with IgA levels(r=0.351,P=0.039),while VMHC values in medial/paracingulate gyri positively correlated with IgA(r=0.345,P=0.043)and negatively with C4(r=-0.368,P=0.030).Conclusion Patients with NPSLE demonstrate abnormal interhemispheric homotopic functional connectivity, and the correlation between imaging metrics and clinical data in differential brain regions may facilitate early diagnosis of NPSLE while providing novel insights into the neuropathological mechanisms of cerebral injury.

Cushing′s syndrome refers to a group of disorders caused by excessive secretion of adrenal glucocorticoid due to various underlying etiologies. Among these, ACTH-dependent Cushing′s syndrome, in which the source of ACTH-secretion remains unclear for extended periods, poses significant challenges in clinical management. This article presents a patient with ACTH-dependent Cushing′s syndrome where the ACTH-secreting source could not be definitively localized from our hospital. Additionally, the article reviews recent advancements in the diagnosis and treatment of such cases, both domestically and internationally, with the aim of enhancing clinicians′ understanding and improving the management of this condition.

This study aims to investigate the effects of aflatoxin B1(AFB1)on the infection and replication of porcine delta coronavirus(PDCoV).Porcine small intestinal epithelial cells(IPEC-J2),porcine kidney cells(LLC-PK)and swine testis cells(ST)were used as models, and CCK-8 method was used to detect the safe mass concentration range of AFB1 on the three cell lines. Each cell line was divided into the blank control group,AFB1 treatment group,PDCoV treatment group and AFB1 and the PDCoV co-treatment group. The cells were treated with safe mass concentration of AFB1 for 12 h,and then treated with PDCoV for 20 h.Total RNA and total protein were extrac-ted from the cells. The effects of AFB1 on PDCoV infection and replication were detected by qPCR,Western blot and cell immunofluorescence tests. The results showed that compared with the PDCoV treatment group, the mRNA and N protein of viral S protein in the AFB1 and PDCoV co-treatment group were significantly increased(P<0.05),and a significantly higher fluorescence of PDCoV N protein is also visibly present in the co-treatment group, and there was a significant difference between the two groups. The results showed that AFB1 could promote the infection and replication of PDCoV.It provides important data that AFB1 can promote the infection replication of PDCoV and provides a new idea for the prevention and treatment of PDCoV.
