Objective:
To evaluate the effectiveness of school-family-community comprehensive intervention aimed at reducing sugar sweetened beverage(SSB) consumption among primary and secondary school students, so as to provide scientific basis for relevant departments to formulate campus sugar reduction measures for primary and secondary school students.
Methods:
In October 2023, a multi stage random cluster sampling method was used to select four primary schools (grade 4) and four junior high schools (grade 7) in Nanjing City, and they were randomly divided into the intervention group ( n =1 601) and the control group ( n = 1 433 ) (primary and secondary schools). The intervention group received a one year comprehensive intervention activity with the theme of “drinking less SSBs and enjoying a healthy life” for one consecutive year. The measures included the school conducting health education courses (once a month, 15 minutes each time), environmental support (posting promotional posters, changing them once a month), class bulletin board and interest projects (once a semester); interventions for families included conducting parent lectures (once per semester 30 min each time), new media (once a month) and hand in hand activities (once per semester); community carried out square promotion and create a supportive environment (post promotional posters and replace them once a month). The control group did not receive any intervention measures except regular health education classes. Self administered questionnaires were used to collect knowledge, attitudes, and intake of SSB at the baseline and after the intervention among primary and secondary school students.
Results:
After the intervention, the proportion of students in the intervention group with an SSB related knowledge awareness rate of 60% or above was 91.4%, which was higher than that of the control group (81.9%) ( χ 2=60.35, P < 0.01 ). The reporting rate of the behavior of choosing to drink beverages when thirsty in the intervention group was 25.4%, which was lower than that of the control group (33.3%); the reporting rates of informing parents about the hazards of sugar sweetened beverages and paying attention to nutrition labels were 62.0% and 78.0% respectively, both of which were higher than those of the control group (52.3%, 65.9%); the reporting rate of having sugar sweetened beverages at home frequently was 43.7% in the intervention group, which was lower than that of the control group (62.3%); the reporting rate of parents restricting the consumption of sugar sweetened beverages was 84.1%, which was higher than that of the control group (78.4%) ( χ 2= 22.66, 29.05, 54.40, 104.84, 16.24, all P <0.05). The reporting rate of students in the intervention group who consumed sugar sweetened beverages more than 4 times per week was 21.5%, which was lower than that of the control group (28.6%), and the difference was statistically significant ( χ 2=20.36, P <0.01).
Conclusion
The comprehensive intervention of school-family-community can effectively improve primary and secondary school students knowledge and attitudes regarding SSBs and reduce their consumption of these beverages.

To explore the advantages of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) and integrative TCM-Western medicine approaches in the treatment of diabetic microvascular complications (DMC), refine key pathophysiological insights and treatment principles, and promote academic innovation and strategic research planning in the prevention and treatment of DMC. The 38th session of the Expert Salon on Diseases Responding Specifically to Traditional Chinese Medicine, hosted by the China Association of Chinese Medicine, was held in Beijing, 2024. Experts in TCM, Western medicine, and interdisciplinary fields convened to conduct a systematic discussion on the pathogenesis, diagnostic and treatment challenges, and mechanism research related to DMC, ultimately forming a consensus on key directions. Four major research recommendations were proposed. The first is addressing clinical bottlenecks in the prevention and control of DMC by optimizing TCM-based evidence evaluation systems. The second is refining TCM core pathogenesis across DMC stages and establishing corresponding "disease-pattern-time" framework. The third is innovating mechanism research strategies to facilitate a shift from holistic regulation to targeted intervention in TCM. The fourth is advancing interdisciplinary collaboration to enhance the role of TCM in new drug development, research prioritization, and guideline formulation. TCM and integrative approaches offer distinct advantages in managing DMC. With a focus on the diseases responding specifically to TCM, strengthening evidence-based support and mechanism interpretation and promoting the integration of clinical care and research innovation will provide strong momentum for the modernization of TCM and the advancement of national health strategies.

It is considered that "turbid pathogen damaging the clear, and the loss of clarity and harmony regulation" is the core pathogenesis of esophageal precancerous lesions, with turbid pathogen persisting throughout the disease course. Turbid pathogen encompasses qi turbidity, phlegm turbidity, stasis turbidity, and toxin turbidity, closely related to dietary indiscretion, emotional disharmony, spleen-stomach deficiency, and kidney deficiency failing to consolidate. Turbid pathogen undergoes a dynamic evolution process of qi constraint generating turbid→ phlegm-stasis transforming into toxin→turbidity toxin harming the healthy qi, corresponding to the pathological alterations of hypoxia, inflammation and immunosuppression within the tumor microenvironment. The overall therapeutic principle is to remove turbidity and restore clarity. In the early stage, targeting the hypoxic tumor microenvironment, the suggested treatment method is opening constraint and dispersing the block, regulating qi and remove turbidity, with emphasis on soothing liver and regulating stomach, raising the clear and directing the turbid downward. In the middle stage, targeting inflammatory microenvironment, the treatment aims to clear toxin and dissipate nodules, resolve stasis and eliminate turbid, emphasizing phlegm-stasis elimination, turbid-toxin resolution, and concurrent stomach qi protection. In the late stage, corresponding to immunosuppressive microenvironment, the method of boosting qi, nourishing yin, reinforcing healthy qi, and eliminating turbidity can be used, with focus on spleen-stomach tonification, kidney essence replenishment, and healthy qi reinforcement to expel pathogenic factors.

Purpose:
The aim of this study was to investigate the feasibility of an intelligent handheld ultrasound (US) device for assisting non-expert general practitioners (GPs) in detecting carotid plaques (CPs) in community populations.
Methods:
This prospective parallel controlled trial recruited 111 consecutive community residents. All of them underwent examinations by non-expert GPs and specialist doctors using handheld US devices (setting A, setting B, and setting C). The results of setting C with specialist doctors were considered the gold standard. Carotid intima-media thickness (CIMT) and the features of CPs were measured and recorded. The diagnostic performance of GPs in distinguishing CPs was evaluated using a receiver operating characteristic curve. Inter-observer agreement was compared using the intragroup correlation coefficient (ICC). Questionnaires were completed to evaluate clinical benefits.
Results:
Among the 111 community residents, 80, 96, and 112 CPs were detected in settings A, B, and C, respectively. Setting B exhibited better diagnostic performance than setting A for detecting CPs (area under the curve, 0.856 vs. 0.749; P<0.01). Setting B had better consistency with setting C than setting A in CIMT measurement and the assessment of CPs (ICC, 0.731 to 0.923). Moreover, measurements in setting B required less time than the other two settings (44.59 seconds vs. 108.87 seconds vs. 126.13 seconds, both P<0.01).
Conclusion
Using an intelligent handheld US device, GPs can perform CP screening and achieve a diagnostic capability comparable to that of specialist doctors.

Type 2 diabetes models were established in the model group and the ginsenoside Rg1 group by a high-fat diet combined with intraperitoneal injection of streptozotocin, while control group was injected with the same amount of normal saline. After successful modeling, control group was given a regular diet for 8 weeks, while the model group and ginsenoside Rg1 group were given a high-fat diet for 8 weeks. The ginsenoside Rg1 group was also treated with ginsenoside Rg1 medication. Reproductive hormone levels were detected by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay test kits, and Western blotting was used to detect the expressions of apoptosis-related proteins (Bcl2 protein, Caspase-3 protein, Bax protein), autophagy-related proteins (P62, LC3Ⅰ, LC3Ⅱ, Beclin1), β-Catenin protein, mTOR protein, LAMP1 protein and transcription factor EB. The body weight, blood glucose levels, testicular index of mice in each group were compared, as well as the testicular injury status. Results:The body weight [(18.77±1.14) g], testosterone level [(141.07±8.47) ng/L], follicle-stimulating hormone level [(9.19±0.74) U/L], and luteinizing hormone level [(1 497.91±99.57) pg/L] of mice in the model group were significantly lower than those in the control [(31.57±2.35) g, P<0.001; (171.50±11.76) ng/L, P<0.001; (12.46±1.54) U/L, P<0.001; (1 807.29±92.76) pg/L, P<0.001]; fasting blood glucose level [(20.82±1.11) mmol/L], glycosylated hemoglobin (12.67%±1.03%), the testis index (0.65%±0.03%) were significantly higher than those in the control [(6.40±1.34) mmol/L, P<0.001; 5.17%±1.17%, P<0.001; 0.48%±0.04%, P<0.001]. Compared with the model group, the body weight [(22.62±0.92) g, P=0.023], testosterone level [(172.63±9.20) ng/L, P<0.001], follicle-stimulating hormone level [(12.37±1.15) U/L, P<0.001], and luteinizing hormone level [(1 847.80±108.80) pg/L, P<0.001] of mice in the ginsenoside Rg1 group increased significantly, fasting blood glucose level [(18.63±1.14) mmol/L, P=0.017], glycosylated hemoglobin (8.50%±1.05%, P<0.001) and testicular index (0.54%±0.02%, P<0.001) decreased significantly. Compared with the control, the expressions of P62 ( P=0.039), LC3Ⅱ/LC3Ⅰ( P<0.001), Beclin1 ( P=0.002) and mTOR ( P=0.036) in the testicular tissue of mice in the model group all increased, the expression of β-Catenin ( P<0.001), LAMP1 ( P=0.005), transcription factor EB ( P<0.001) all decreased. Compared with the model group, the expressions of autophagy-related proteins P62 ( P=0.048), LC3Ⅱ/LC3Ⅰ( P<0.001) , Beclin1 ( P=0.023) and mTOR ( P=0.005) in the ginsenoside Rg1 group all decreased, while the expression of β-Catenin ( P=0.001), LAMP1 ( P=0.011) and transcription factor EB ( P=0.022) all increased. Transmission electron microscopy detected a decrease in the number of autophagosomes in the testicles of mice in the model group, and it improved after drug intervention. The HE staining showed that the testes of mice in the model group exhibited phenotypes such as the shedding and disorganization of spermatogenic cells, while ginsenoside Rg1 was able to improve these phenotypes. This consensus was developed by the Orthodontic Society of the Chinese Stomatological Association to provide a systematic, scientific, and practical guideline for informed consent in orthodontic care. Orthodontic treatment is typically lengthy, highly individualized, and involves multiple factors such as growth and development, occlusal function, and facial esthetics. Rapid technological advances and diverse risk profiles make the traditional reliance on orthodontist experience or institutional templates insufficient to ensure patients′ full understanding and autonomous decision-making. To address this, the expert panel conducted extensive reviews of domestic and international guidelines, analyzed representative dispute cases, and performed multicenter patient-clinician surveys. Using a multi-round Delphi method, the group established a standardized informed consent framework covering the initial consultation, treatment, and retention phases. The consensus emphasizes that informed consent is not only a fundamental legal and ethical requirement but also a key step in building trust, improving patient compliance, and enhancing treatment satisfaction. Orthodontists should clearly and comprehensively explain treatment plans, potential risks, uncertainties, and associated costs, while respecting the autonomy of patients or guardians, and maintain continuous communication and dynamic evaluation throughout the treatment process. The release of this consensus provides unified and authoritative guidance for clinical orthodontics, helping to standardize informed consent, enhance its transparency, safeguard patient rights, reduce medical risks, and promote high-quality, sustainable development of orthodontic practice.
