Animal models combining disease and syndrome are important research tools to explore the nature of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) syndromes. At present, the construction and evaluation methods of animal models have preliminarily established the foundation for standardized development. Qi-yin deficiency syndrome is a common type of TCM syndrome in cardiovascular diseases. It is an important pathogenic factor causing the onset, pathological damage, and chronic nature of cardiovascular diseases, as well as triggering other illnesses. The establishment of an animal model of cardiovascular disease with the characteristics of Qi-yin deficiency, along with an objective and standardized evaluation system, has become an important part of modern cardiovascular disease research. In recent years, research on the construction and evaluation of animal models of heart Qi-yin deficiency syndrome has increased, but the construction methods and evaluation criteria vary. Compared with other animal models, the literature is limited, lacking statistics and overall analysis. Therefore, based on the scientific connotation of heart Qi-yin deficiency syndrome, this article systematically reviews the evaluation system of its animal model, covering multidimensional methods such as macroscopic characterization assessment, physicochemical indicators and objective evaluation, and syndrome differentiation based on prescriptions. The specific model construction strategies are described, including single-factor induction methods (sleep deprivation, chronic intermittent hypoxia, arterial occlusion, high-salt feeding) and the compound-factor induction methods (sleep deprivation combined with drug method, chronic intermittent hypoxia combined with drug method, exhaustive swimming combined with drug method). Meanwhile, application examples of each model in the research are listed, the existing problems in the current model construction and evaluation are analyzed, and optimization directions are proposed, such as promoting the compound factor induction strategy and improving the objectivity of the evaluation criteria. This article aims to provide theoretical references for constructing an animal model of heart Qi-yin deficiency syndrome that conforms to TCM characteristics, and thereby laying a scientific foundation for the prevention and treatment of cardiovascular diseases with TCM.

Objective To investigate the current status of symptom burden and psychological distress among lung cancer patients in the diagnostic phase, and to explore the chain mediating role of social support and resilience between symptom burden and psychological distress. Methods The patients with lung cancer in the diagnostic phase who were treated in the Department of Thoracic Surgery of the Second Xiangya Hospital of Central South University from October 2022 to June 2023 were investigated by a general information questionnaire using the MD Anderson Symptom Inventory, the Social Support Rating Scale, the Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale, and the Distress Thermometer. The chain mediating role of social support and resilience between symptom burden and psychological distress was analyzed. Results A total of 413 lung cancer patients were enrolled, including 173 males and 240 females, aged (54.69±10.82) years. The detection rate of psychological distress among lung cancer patients in the diagnostic phase was 48.18%, and the average score was (3.84±2.50) points. Psychological distress was positively correlated with symptom burden (P<0.01), and negatively correlated with social support and resilience (P<0.01). The mediating effect of resilience between symptom burden and psychological distress was significant. The chain mediating effect of social support and resilience between symptom burden and psychological distress was also significant. Conclusion Lung cancer patients in the diagnostic phase have a high detection rate of psychological distress. Symptom burden can directly impact psychological distress, and can affect psychological distress through the indirect path of resilience as well as the chain mediating path between social support and resilience among lung cancer patients in the diagnostic phase.

Objective: To analyze the distribution and related factors of spherical equivalent(SE) anisometropia in school aged children in ethnic minority areas of Yunnan Province, so as to provide a scientific basis for the intervention and control of SE anisometropia. Methods: In October 2021,a total of 1 852 school aged children in three counties/cities(Lijiang City,Dali City,Xishuangbanna) in Yunnan Province were examined by multi stage cluster random sampling method for computer optometry visual acuity examination for non ciliary paralysis and questionnaire survey.Demographic characteristics, ocular biological parameters and SE data were obtained for SE anisometropia. Group comparisons were conducted using Mann-Whitney U test or Kruskal-Wallis H test, and Logistic regression was used to explore the related factors of anisometropia in SE. Results: The prevalence of SE anisometropia among school age children was 23.0%, and the prevalence was higher in girls (24.2%) than that in boys (21.6%). Compared with non anisometropic children, school aged children with SE anisometropia had longer axial length (AL) [24.03 (23.41, 24.76), 23.93 (23.26, 24.61) mm] and corneal curvature radius (CR) [43.42 (42.43, 44.42), 43.14 (42.23, 44.04)mm], SE[-1.75(-2.75,-1.00),-0.94(-2.63,-0.25)D], smaller spherical scope [-1.38(-2.38,-0.75),-0.75(-2.38,0)D], deeper anterior chamber depth(ACD)[3.77(3.62, 3.93), 3.72(3.55, 3.89)mm], and grater differences in AL[0.58(0.32,0.82), 0.13( 0.06 ,0.22)mm], ACD[0.05(0.02,0.08), 0.03(0.01,0.06)mm] and AL/CR[0.01(0.01,0.02), 0.01(0.00,0.01)]( Z =-22.47 to -2.41, all P <0.05). The results of Logistic regression showed that mild myopia( OR =2.74), moderate myopia( OR =3.52), and high myopia( OR =8.92) had a relatively high risk of anisometropia SE in school aged children(all P <0.05). Conclusion The prevalence of SE anisometropia in school aged children in ethnic minority areas of Yunnan Province is relatively high, and the prevalence and degree of anisometropia were closely related to myopia degree and related refractive parameters.

With the extensive application of uranium in military, industrial and civil fields, the possibility of human exposure to uranium has become increasingly likely. When uranium is accidentally released into the environment, it can enter the human body by various pathways and accumulate in the kidneys, leading to proximal tubule epithelial cell damage or even death, and in severe cases, nephrotoxicity. Uranium exerts both chemical and radiological toxicity, with its kidney-damaging effects primarily attributed to chemical toxicity. Low-level uranium exposure causes mild kidney damage, while prolonged or high-level exposure alters kidney structure and biomarker level of uranium-induced nephrotoxicity (such as creatinine, urea nitrogen and kidney injury molecule-1, etc.). Uranium exposure also induces DNA damage and mutations, kidney inflammation, and renal cell autophagy. Current research on uranium nephrotoxicity primarily focuses on uranium-induced mitochondrial dysfunction, which leads to oxidative stress and apoptosis (mainly by mitochondrial and endoplasmic reticulum pathway), ultimately causing renal tissue damage. However, the molecular mechanisms underlying uranium-induced kidney toxicity remain incomplete. Future research on mechanism of uranium-induced cell damage, especially metabolism, intracellular distribution, and additional mechanisms, remains a long-term and challenging endeavor.

Background::Substantial progress in air pollution control has brought considerable health benefits in China, but little is known about the spatio-temporal trends of economic burden from air pollution. This study aimed to explore their spatio-temporal features of disease burden from air pollution in China to provide policy recommendations for efficiently reducing the air pollution and related disease burden in an era of a growing economy.Methods::Using the Global Burden of Disease method and willingness to pay method, we estimated fine particulate matter (PM 2.5) and/or ozone (O 3) related premature mortality and its economic burden across China, and explored their spatio-temporal trends between 2005 and 2017. Results::In 2017, we estimated that the premature mortality and economic burden related to the two pollutants were RMB 0.94 million (68.49 per 100,000) and 1170.31 billion yuan (1.41% of the national gross domestic product [GDP]), respectively. From 2005 to 2017, the total premature mortality was decreasing with the air quality improvement, but the economic burden was increasing along with the economic growth. And the economic growth has contributed more to the growth of economic costs than the economic burden decrease brought by the air quality improvement. The premature mortality and economic burden from O 3 in the total loss from the two pollutants was substantially lower than that of PM 2.5, but it was rapidly growing. The O 3-contribution was highest in the Yangtze River Delta region, the Fen-Wei Plain region, and some western regions. The proportion of economic burden from PM 2.5 and O 3 to GDP significantly declined from 2005 to 2017 and showed a decreasing trend pattern from northeast to southwest. Conclusion::The disease burden from O 3 is lower than that of PM 2.5, the O 3-contribution has a significantly increasing trend with the growth of economy and O 3 concentration.

Objective:To screen key differentially expressed genes(DEGs)in dead mice with sepsis by spleen high-through-put sequencing combined with bioinformatics.Methods:①A mouse sepsis model was set up by intraperitoneal injection of lipopolysac-charide(LPS),a 7-day survival curve of mice was drawn,and the modeling doses of survival group and death group were screened out.②Expressions of TNF-α,IL-1β,IL-6 and IL-10 in peripheral blood of mice in control group,survival group and death group were verified by ELISA.③High-throughput sequencing was conducted on spleens of survival group and death group,and the key genes were screened by bioinformatics analysis of DEGs.④Expressions of key genes and proteins were detected by RT-PCR and Western blot.Results:①LPS dosage in survival group was 15 mg/kg(with a mortality of 30%),and LPS dosage in death group was 30 mg/kg(with a mortality of 80%).②Expression levels of IL-6,TNF-α and IL-1β in sepsis mice were significantly higher than those of control group,while expression level of IL-10 was decreased(P<0.05).Comparison of sepsis model groups showed that levels of pro-inflammatory factors in death group were higher than those in survival group,while level of IL-10 was lower than that in survival group(P<0.05).③A total of 2999 DEGs in survival group and death group were screened out by bioinformatics,among which 1185 genes were up-regulated and 1814 genes were down-regulated.Top 5 DEGs enrichment pathways were screened out:"hematopoietic cell lineage""primary immunodeficiency""African trypanosomiasis""leishmaniasis"and"B-cell receptor signaling pathway".Ifit1,Ifit3 and Mx1 were three key genes that were screened out.④Compared with survival group,expressions of genes and proteins of Ifit1,Ifit3 and Mx1 were down-regulated in spleen tissues of the death group(P<0.05).Conclusion:By high-throughput sequencing and bioinformatics,Ifit1,Ifit3 and Mx1 are screened out as key genes related to the death outcome of sepsis,which probably influence the outcome of sepsis through the immune mechanism related to virus infection.

Objective To investigate the clinical value of Mycobacterium tuberculosis/nontuberculous mycobacteria(MTB/NTM)nucleic acid detection in cerebrospinal fluid for the diagnosis of tuberculous meningitis(TBM).Methods The clinical data of 120 pa-tients with TBM were collected.Patients were divided into two groups using a random number table method:TBM A group(n=67,cere-brospinal fluid routine,biochemical,Roche culture,tuberculous smear,MTB/NTM nucleic acid detection)and TBM B group(n=53,cerebrospinal fluid routine,biochemical,Roche culture,tuberculous smear,GeneXpert MTB/RIF detection),and another 18 cases of cerebrospinal fluid from patients with other central nervous system infections were collected as control group(C group,cerebrospinal fluid routine,biochemical,Roche culture,tuberculous smear,MTB/NTM nucleic acid,GeneXpert MTB/RIF detection.Results The posi-tive rates of Roche culture,tuberculosis smear and MTB/NTM nucleic acid detection of cerebrospinal fluid in TBM A group were 13.43％(9/67),10.45％(7/67)and 46.27％(31/67),respectively.The positive rates of Roche culture,tuberculosis smear and GeneXpert MTB/RIF detection of cerebrospinal fluid in TBM B group were 15.09％(8/53),11.32％(6/53)and 47.17％(25/53),respective-ly.Among the cerebrospinal fluid GeneXpert MTB/RIF positive cases,lifampin resistance gene was positive in 2 patients.In the C group,patients had negative result in Roche culture,tuberculous smear,MTB/NTM nucleic acid detection and GeneXpert MTB/RIF detection.Conclusion MTB/NTM nucleic acid detection and GeneXpert MTB/RIF detection are useful in diagnosing TBM at early stage.MTB/NTM nucleic acid detection more economical than GeneXpert MTB/RIF detection,and can identify non-tuberculous mycobacteria(NTM),and timely reduce the misdiagnosis of NTM disease,which is worthy of clinical promotion.

Objective:To retrospectively analyze the bone marrow characteristics of methimazole-induced agranulocytosis and other hematologic damage, and to explore its correlation with clinical features and prognosis.Methods:The bone marrow and clinical parameters of 20 patients of Graves′ disease diagnosed with methimazole-induced agranulocytosis at the First Affiliated Hospital of Xi′an Jiaotong University from January 2000 to December 2022 were collected. The intergroup differences in bone marrow characteristics and granulocyte recovery time were analyzed. Differences in peripheral blood and bone marrow characteristics between patients with single agranulocytosis and pancytopenia were compared. Besides, literature review of the bone marrow characteristics of methimazole-induced hematologic diseases was conducted.Results:Compared to patients with bone marrow characteristics of granulocyte and precursor maturation disorders(Type Ⅱ), patients with aplastic marrow(Type Ⅰ) had significant decreases in the proportions of granulocytes in all phases( P<0.05). Patients with bone marrow characteristics of Type Ⅰ had a significant increase in the proportion of the lymphocyte system [51.00%(41.50%, 75.50%) vs 22.00%(14.00%, 35.00%), P=0.002], and got a longer to recovery time [(6.58±1.68)d vs(3.71±1.60)d, P=0.003]; Correlation analysis suggested the granulocyte to erythrocyte ratio was negatively correlated with the granulocyte recovery time( r=-0.520, P=0.023), and the proportion of the bone marrow lymphocyte was positively correlated with granulocyte recovery time( r=0.622, P=0.004). Compared to patients with single agranulocytosis, patients with pancytopenia had a markedly longer hospital stay duration [(27.14±5.27)d vs(14.15±7.36)d, P=0.001]. Literature review suggestsed that methimazole may cause various degrees of damage to blood system and bone marrow. Conclusion:Methimazole can induce a variety of hematologic damages. Analysis of bone marrow characteristics can aid in further prognosis assessment. Clinicians should be vigilant about potential hematologic adverse reactions when using methimazole and promptly diagnose and treat them to prevent serious consequences.

Objective To explore the role of miR-199a-3p in osteoblast proliferation induced by fluid shear stress (FSS) and the potential molecular mechanism. Methods Osteoblast MC3T3-E1 was treated with 1. 2 Pa FSS with time gradients of 0, 15, 30, 45, 60, 75 and 90 min, respectively. MC3T3-E1 cells were transfected with miR-199a-3p mimic or miR-199a-3p inhibitor. MC3T3-E1 cells were transfected with miR-199a-3p mimic and itsnegative control and then treated with 1. 2 Pa FSS for 45 min. The pc DNA NC, pc DNA-CABLES -1, si RNA NC and si RNA CABLES-1 were transfected into MC3T3-E1 cells. The pc DNA-CABLES-1 and mir-199a-3p mimic and SI NA-cables-1 and miR-199a-3p inhibitor were co-transfected, respectively. Cell activity was detected by CCK-8 assay. Real-time quantitative PCR (RT-qPCR) was used to detect expression levels of CABLES-1, miR-199a-3p, CDK 6, Cyclin D1 and PCNA. Luciferase reporting assay was used to detect targeting relationship between CABLES-1 and miR-199a-3p. Immunofluorescence was used to detect protein expression of CABLES-1.Western blot was used to detect protein expression of CABLES-1, CDK 6, PCNA and Cyclin D1. Results Mir- 199a-3p in MC3T3-E1 cells was significantly down-regulated by FSS. Over-expressed miR-199a-3p inhibitedosteoblast proliferation, and down-regulated miR-199a-3p expression promoted osteoblast proliferation. miR-199a- 3p could reverse the FSS-induced proliferation in osteoblasts. Dual luciferase assay showed that miR-199a-3p targeted to CABLES-1 and over-expressed miR-199a-3p inhibited expression of CBALES-1 protein. CABLES-1 could promote proliferation of osteoblasts. miR-199a-3p inhibited osteoblast proliferation induced by FSS through CABLES-1. Conclusions FSS-induced osteoblast proliferation can be realized by down-regulated miR-199a-3p expression via targeting CABLES-1. The findings in this study provide new direction for researches on mechanism of FSS-induced osteoblast proliferation, as well as new ideas for future research on clinical application of mechanical loading in the treatment of bone and joint diseases.

As a natural compound with high efficiency and low toxicity, cryptotanshinone (CTS) has a good anti-fibrosis effect in various organs and tissues. However, its mechanism of action has not been clearly defined, and there is no systematic literature review to describe its potential anti-fibrosis mechanism. The efficacy and mechanism of cryptotanshinone in the treatment of fibrosis in various organs were summarized and the use prospects were put forward in this paper.
