BACKGROUND:
As an essential part of health services, rehabilitation is of great significance to improve the health and quality of life of the whole population. Accelerating aging calls for a significant expansion of rehabilitation services in China, but rehabilitation needs remain unclear. We conducted the study to explore the rehabilitation needs in China and project the trend of rehabilitation needs from 2020 to 2034.
METHODS:
The data of health conditions that might potentially benefit from rehabilitation were obtained from Global Burden of Disease (GBD) study. Estimated annual percentage changes (EAPCs) were calculated to quantify the trends of the age-standardized rates. Projections of rehabilitation needs were made until 2034 using Bayesian age-period-cohort analysis (BAPC).
RESULTS:
Approximately 460 million persons (33.3% of the total population) need rehabilitation in China, contributing to 63 million years lived with disabilities (YLDs) in 2019. The number of prevalent cases that need rehabilitation increased from around 268 (95% uncertainty interval [UI]: 257-282) million in 1990 to almost 460 (95% UI: 443-479) million in 2019, representing an increase of 71.3%. The highest contribution to the need for rehabilitation was musculoskeletal disorders with about 322 (95% UI: 302-343) million persons in seven aggregate disease and injury categories, and hearing loss with over 95 (95% UI: 84-107) million people among 25 health conditions. Based on the projection results, there will be almost 636 million people (45% of the total population) needing rehabilitation services in China by 2034, representing an increase of 38.3%. The rehabilitation needs of neoplasms, cardiovascular diseases, and neurological disorders are expected to increase significantly from 2019 to 2034, with increases of 102.3%, 88.8% and 73.2%, respectively.
CONCLUSIONS
The need for rehabilitation in China substantially increased over the last 30 years. It is predicted that over two in five people will require rehabilitation by 2034, thus suggesting the need to develop rehabilitation services that meet individuals' rehabilitation needs.

Chinese Journal of Endemiology 2017;36(5):342-345
Objective To analyze the epidemic characteristics of brucellosis in Nangang District of Harbin City, and to provide a scientific basis for making strategies in prevention and control of the disease. Methods Descriptive epidemiological methods were used, epidemic characteristics (time distribution, regional distribution and population distribution) of the disease in Nangang District of Harbin City in 2006-2015 were studied, and brucellosis cases were reported online through the national epidemic network. Results A total of 105 cases of brucellosis were reported, the average annual incidence rate was 7.84/100 thousand and no death case. The number of cases was the highest in 2014,it was 21 cases, the incidence rate was 1.57/100 thousand;the number of cases was the least in 2010,it was 3 cases, the incidence rate was 0.22/100 thousand;in 2006,the number of cases was 9,the incidence rate was 0.67/100 thousand;in 2015,the number of cases was 17,the incidence rate was 1.27/100 thousand. The incidence of the disease was mainly concentrated in summer and autumn, accounting for 65.71% (69/105),the number of summer onset was 38,accounting for 36.19% (38/105);the incidence of the autumn was 31,accounting for 29.52% (31/105).In 2006-2012,the incidence of the disease was mainly concentrated in Wanggang and Hongqi townships, accounting for 60.00% (30/50);after 2013,the cases in urban areas were on the rise,Wanggang and Hongqi townships accounted for 34.55% (19/55).Incidence of male youth was the highest, male and female incidence ratio was 2.18:1.00 (72:33);incidence peak was 30-60 years old, accounting for 60.95% (64/105);after analyzing the incidence of occupational groups, farmer was the highest, accounting for 43.81% (46/105).Transmission route was contact with cattle and sheep and lived in the environment cattle and sheep were breed, the number of cases was 34.Conclusions The incidence of brucellosis in Nangang District of Harbin City is rising after 2013.Disease season focus in summer and autumn, occupation focus in farmers, and the scope of the outbreak has been expanded. We should further strengthen publicity and education in disease focus season, improve the awareness of protection,in order to effectively control the epidemic of brucellosis.
3.Expression of HIF-1alpha and VEGF in human laryngeal carcinoma and its relationship with angiogenes.
Journal of Clinical Otorhinolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery 2014;28(6):389-393
OBJECTIVE:
The aim of this study is to investigate the expression of hypoxia inducible factor-1alpha (HIF-1alpha), vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) in laryngeal carcinoma and its relations to clinical and pathophysiological characteristics, and determine the effect of HIF-1alpha, VEGF in the processing of angiogenesis. To offer the theoretical basis for the pathogenesis of laryngeal carcinoma and the new ideas for early diagnosis of laryngeal carcinoma.
METHOD:
The major was divided into two groups:60 specimens of laryngeal carcinoma and 20 specimens of normal tissues beside the carcinoma. The expression of HIF-1alpha, VEGF was detected in 60 specimens of laryngeal carcinoma tissues and 20 specimens of normal tissues beside the carcinoma as controls by immunohistochemical staining technique. Microvessel was stained by antifactor CD105 antibody to analyse microvessel density.
RESULT:
Positive rate of HIF-1alpha and VEGF protein expression was 71.67% (43/60) and 65.00% (39/60) respectively in laryngeal carcinoma tissues, which was significantly higher than that in normal laryngeal tissues (10.00% and 20.00%, respectively). HIF-1alpha expression was closely related to P-TNM stage, the grade of cell differentiation and lymph node status; VEGF expression was closely related to P-TNM stage and lymph node status. The coincidence rate of the expression of HIF-1alpha and VEGF was 56.67% (34/60), showing a close relation between them. MVD was much higher in tumor with HIF-1alpha(+)/VEGF(+) than that in tumor with HIF-1alpha(--)/VEGF(--) (P < 0.01).
CONCLUSION
HIF-1alpha protein and VEGF was over-expressed in laryngeal carcinoma. The positive expression of HIF-1alpha, VEGF and MVD in laryngeal carcinoma have a synergistic effect on the neovascularization of the tumor.
