Objective: To analyze the trends, gender, and age differences in the incidence of lip and oral cavity cancer in Chinese population from 1990 to 2021 and predict future incidence trends, providing a scientific basis for disease prevention and public health policy. Methods: Incidence data of lip and oral cavity cancer in Chinese population from the Global Burden of Disease (GBD) database from 1990 to 2021 were analyzed. The Joinpoint regression model was used to assess temporal trends, the age-period-cohort model was used to evaluate the independent effects of age, period, and cohort, and the Bayesian age-period-cohort model (BAPC) model was used to predict incidence trends from 2022 to 2044. Results: From 1990 to 2021, the age-standardized incidence rate of lip and oral cavity cancer in Chinese population increased from 2.39/100 000 to 3.76/100 000, and the crude incidence rate rose from 1.71/100 000 to 4.85/100 000. The incidence rate in males was higher and increased more rapidly than in females. Higher incidence rates were prevalent among older populations, a rapid increase in incidence rates occurred during 2003 to 2012, and earlier birth cohorts showed overall higher risks. BAPC predictions indicated a continued rise in incidence from 2022 to 2044. During this period, male incidence stabilized while female incidence increased at a relatively faster rate. Conclusion The incidence of lip and oral cavity cancer in Chinese population has revealed a continuous upward trend, particularly among males and older populations. Future prevention strategies should focus on these high-risk populations.

G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) are the largest family of membrane proteins in eukaryotes, with nearly 800 genes coding for these proteins. They are involved in many physiological processes, such as light perception, taste and smell, neurotransmitter, metabolism, endocrine and exocrine, cell growth and migration. Importantly, GPCRs and their ligands are the targets of approximately one third of all marketed drugs. GPCRs are traditionally known for their role in transmitting signals from the extracellular environment to the cell's interior via the plasma membrane. However, emerging evidence suggests that GPCRs are also localized on mitochondria, where they play critical roles in modulating mitochondrial functions. These mitochondrial GPCRs (mGPCRs) can influence processes such as mitochondrial respiration, apoptosis, and reactive oxygen species (ROS) production. By interacting with mitochondrial signaling pathways, mGPCRs contribute to the regulation of energy metabolism and cell survival. Their presence on mitochondria adds a new layer of complexity to the understanding of cellular signaling, highlighting the organelle's role as not just an energy powerhouse but also a crucial hub for signal transduction. This expanding understanding of mGPCR function on mitochondria opens new avenues for research, particularly in the context of diseases where mitochondrial dysfunction plays a key role. Abnormalities in the phase conductance pathway of GPCRs located on mitochondria are closely associated with the development of systemic diseases such as cardiovascular disease, diabetes, obesity and Alzheimer's disease. In this review, we examined the various types of GPCRs identified on mitochondrial membranes and analyzed the complex relationships between mGPCRs and the pathogenesis of various diseases. We aim to provide a clearer understanding of the emerging significance of mGPCRs in health and disease, and to underscore their potential as therapeutic targets in the treatment of these conditions.

[Objective] To explore the clinical diagnostic and therapeutic characteristics of peripheral primitive neuroectodermal tumor (PNET). [Methods] A retrospective analysis was conducted on the clinicopathological data of a patient diagnosed with seminal vesicle PNET treated in our hospital.Relevant literature was retrieved in PubMed, Web of Science, and CNKI.The clinical features, pathological results, and treatment methods were reviewed. [Results] Including this case, a total of 6 cases were collected.This case underwent a radical cystectomy with transabdominal approach, bilateral seminal vesicle resection, pelvic tumor resection, and ileal bladder surgery.Postoperative pathology confirmed PNET.During the follow-up of 32 months, no local recurrence or distant metastasis recurred. [Conclusion] Seminal vesicle PNET is a rare tumor with high malignancy, rapid progression, and poor prognosis.The current diagnosis mainly relies on pathological biopsy and immunohistochemistry.Surgery is an effective treatment method.

Objective:To analyze the clinical phenotype and genetic characteristics for a child with Canavan disease.Methods:A child who was admitted to the Children's Hospital Affiliated to Shandong University on April 9, 2021 for inability to uphold his head for 2 months and increased muscle tone for one week was subjected to whole exome sequencing, and candidate variants were verified by Sanger sequencing.Results:Genetic testing revealed that the child has harbored compound heterozygous variants of the ASPA gene, including a paternally derived c. 556_559dupGTTC (p. L187Rfs*5) and a maternally derived c.919delA (p. S307Vfs*24). Based on the guidelines from the American College of Medical Genetics and Genomics, both variants were predicted to be pathogenic (PVS1+ PM2_Supporting+ PM3). Conclusion:The c. 556_559dupGTTC (p.L187Rfs*5) and c. 919delA (p.S307Vfs*24) compound heterozygous variants of the ASPA gene probably underlay the pathogenesis of Canavan disease in this child.

Objective To explore the difference in left ventricular reverse remodeling(LVRR)between coarctation of aorta(CoA)complicated by bicuspid aortic valve(BAV)and that by tricuspid aortic valve(TAV)after percutaneous intervention.Methods The clinical data on 47 patients undergoing percutaneous balloon dila-tion and stent implantation due to CoA in Fuwai Hospital of Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences from January 2014 to December 2021 were retrospectively analyzed.According to the preoperative imaging data,there were 18 patients with BAVA and 29 with TAV.The results of echocardiography before and one year after the procedure were compared.Results CoA Vmax,CoA PG,LVEDd,LVEDdi,LVM and LVMI were significantly improved in CoA patients one year after percutaneous intervention,and 23.4%of the patients developed left ventricular reverse remodeling.AV Vmax,AV PG and LVEDdi in the patients with BAV were higher than those in the TAV group(P = 0.005 and P = 0.007;P = 0.03),and the rate of left ventricular reverse remodeling in BAV patients was lower than that in TAV patients,but there was no statistical significance.Multivariate analysis did not find any influence factors affecting left ventricular reverse remodeling one year after the procedure.Conclusions Part of the CoA patients develops left ventricular remodeling reversal one year after percutaneous intervention.LVRR in patients with BAV is lower than that in those with TAV,which still needs further clinical research.

OBJECTIVE To investigate the effect of Jiawei Tianwang Buxin Dan(JWBXD)on insomnia in rats exposed to simulated high-altitude conditions.METHODS ① Thirty SD rats were randomly divided into the normal control,model,model+Jiawei Tianwang Buxin Dan(JWBXD,9.6 mg·kg-1),model+Tianwang Buxin Dan(TWBXD,9.6 mg·kg-1),and model+diazepam(DZP,3 mg·kg-1)groups.Rats,except for the normal control group,were subjected to a low-pressure,low-oxygen animal experimental chamber simulating a 5000 m altitude.Respective drugs were ig administrated once daily at 9:00 for seven days,and signal acquisition and sleep analysis were conducted by a wireless physiological sig-nal telemetry system.②Forty rats were randomly divided into five groups as described in ①.Through-out the experiment,the general condition and body mass of the rats were observed daily.Drug adminis-tration lasted for seven days,and grip strength was tested one hour after the final administration.ELISA was used to measure the levels of corticotropin-releasing hormone(CRH),adrenocorticotropic hor-mone(ACTH),corticosterone(CORT),and melatonin(MLT)in serum.Western blotting was performed to measure the expression levels of core clock proteins period circadian regulator 2(Per2),circadian locomotor output cycles(Clock),cryptochrome 2(Cry2),brain-muscle arnt-like protein 1(Bmal1),nuclear receptor subfamily 1,group D member 1(NR1D1),glycogen synthase kinase-3β(GSK-3β),as well as acetylserotonin O-methyltransferase(ASMT)in the hypothalamus and pineal gland,respectively.RESULTS ① Compared with the normal control group,the model group exhibited a decrease in total sleep time(P<0.01),an increase in wakefulness(P<0.01),a significant reduction in slow wave sleep(SWS)(P<0.05)and the mean bouts duration(P<0.05).Compared with the model group,both DZP and JWBXD(P<0.01)prolonged sleep time and suppressed wakefulness(P<0.01)in the hypoxic envi-ronment.DZP and JWBXD prolonged SWS(P<0.05,P<0.01),while TWBXD had no significant effect.JWBXD improved the mean bouts duration of SWS in the model rats(P<0.01),whereas no such improvement was observed in model+DZP and model+TWBXD groups.② Compared with the normal control group,the model group showed a significant decrease in forelimb grip strength(P<0.01),increased levels of serum ACTH(P<0.05),CRH,and CORT(P<0.01),and decreased MLT levels(P<0.05).The expression levels of Per2,Cry2,GSK-3β,and NR1D1 in the hypothalamus were downregu-lated(P<0.05,P<0.01),while Bmal1 and Clock were upregulated(P<0.05,P<0.01).ASMT expression in the pineal gland was decreased(P<0.05).Compared with the model group,JWBXD and TWBXD enhanced forelimb grip strength(P<0.01),reduced serum CORT and ACTH levels(P<0.05),decreased CRH levels(P<0.01),and restored MLT levels(P<0.01).JWBXD upregulated the expression levels of Per2,Cry2,GSK-3β and NR1D1 in the hypothalamus(P<0.05,P<0.01),but downregulated Bmal1 and Clock expression(P<0.05,P<0.01).TWBXD downregulated Bmal1 expression in the hypothalamus(P<0.01)and increased NR1D1 expression(P<0.05).DZP significantly enhanced the expression levels of Per2,Cry2 and NR1D1 in the hypothalamus(P<0.01).JWBXD,TWBXD and DZP improved ASMT expression in the pineal gland(P<0.05).CONCLUSION JWBXD can improve sleep structure and prolong the duration of SWS in rats exposed to simulated high-altitude conditions.The mechanisms may involve the regulation of core clock protein expressions in the hypothalamus,promotion of mela-tonin secretion,and inhibition of HPA axis hyperactivity.

Studies have shown that vertebral artery hypoplasia(VAH)is associated with posterior circulation ischemic stroke,but it is difficult to distinguish VAH from atherosclerotic stenosis in cerebrovascular angiography and other imaging examinations,and there is currently no unified diagnostic standard for intracranial VAH.The authors reviewed the definition and incidence of intracranial VAH from the aspects of autopsy and imaging,and summarized its relationship with posterior circulation ischemic stroke,in order to improve the clinicians'understanding of intracranial VAH.

Objective:To analyze the risk factors for central venous catheter-associated bloodstream infection in patients with emergency hemorrhagic shock.Methods:Patients with hemorrhagic shock and central venous catheterization admitted to the emergency department of Shanghai First People's Hospital from June 2016 to June 2022 were retrospectively analyzed. The patients were divided into infected group and non-infected group according to whether catheter-related bloodstream infection occurred. The puncture site samples and catheter tip samples of infected patients were collected for etiological detection and drug sensitivity test. The difference of baseline data between the two groups was analyzed, and the relationship between central venous catheter-associated infection and influencing factors was analyzed by multivariate logistic regression.Results:A total of 249 patients were included in this study, including 54 patients in the infected group and 195 patients in the non-infected group. There were significant differences in age, catheterization position, ultrasound-guided puncture, acute physiology and chronic health evaluationⅡ(APACHEⅡ) score, catheter retention time and application of broad-spectrum antibiotics between the infected group and the non-infected group (all P<0.05). Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that advanced age, femoral vein catheterization, no ultrasound-guided puncture, high APACHEⅡ score, long catheter indent time and application of broad-spectrum antibiotics were risk factors for central venous catheter-associated bloodstream infection. Among the 54 infected patients, Staphylococcus epidermidis accounted for 44.4%, followed by Escherichia coli accounted for 24.1% and fungus accounted for 11.1%. The resistance rate of gram-positive cocci to vancomycin was the lowest (3.4%) followed by tetracycline (34.5%), and the highest resistance rate was amoxicillin (100.0%). The resistance rates of gram-negative bacilli to amikacin and ceftriaxone were relatively high, both of which were 94.7%. Conclusions:The risk factors for central venous catheter-related blood stream infection in patients with emergency hemorrhagic shock included advanced age, femoral vein catheterization, no ultrasound-guided puncture, high APACHEⅡ score, long catheter retention time and use of broad-spectrum antibiotics. The common pathogenic bacteria were Staphylococcus epidermidis and Escherichia coli.

Objective To investigate the impacts of fire needling combined with Huoxue Huayu Decoction on disease severity, skin barrier function and hemorheology in patients with psoriasis vulgaris of blood stasis syndrome. Methods A total of 120 patients with psoriasis vulgaris of blood stasis syndrome treated in our hospital were randomly divided into traditional Chinese medicine group (60 cases) and combined group (60 cases) according to the random number table method. The TCM syndrome scores, severity [Psoriasis Area and Severity Index (PASI) score], hemorheology (whole blood low shear viscosity and high shear viscosity, plasma viscosity), skin barrier function(transepidermal moisture loss, stratum corneum water content and sebum content), quality of life [Dermatology Life Quality Index (DLQI) score] and clinical healing effect were compared. Results Compared with before treatment, the scores of TCM syndromes such as hypertrophic infiltration of skin lesions, skin lesion color, pruritus, and skin dryness, PASI score, whole blood low shear viscosity, whole blood high shear viscosity, plasma viscosity, transepidermal water loss and DLQI score in both groups were decreased after treatment, and the degree of reduction in the combined group was more significant than that in the traditional Chinese medicine group(P < 0.05). Compared with before treatment, the water content and sebum content of the stratum corneum in both groups increased after treatment, and the combined group was higher than the traditional Chinese medicine group (P < 0.05). The total effective rate of the combined group was 93.33%, which was higher than 78.33% of the traditional Chinese medicine group (P < 0.05). Conclusion Fire needling combined with Huoxue Huayu Decoction for psoriasis vulgaris of blood stasis syndrome can usefully ameliorate the clinical symptoms and skin barrier function, regulate blood rheologyindexes, and enhance the quality of life.

OBJECTIVE: To assess the association of rs55829688 and rs75315904 polymorphisms of the lncRNA-GAS5 gene with susceptibility to systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) in Guangxi population. METHODS: Peripheral venous blood samples were collected from the SLE group and control group. Following extraction of genomic DNA, SNPscan and Sanger sequencing were carried out to determine the genotypes for the rs55829688 and rs75315904 loci of the lncRNA-GAS5 gene. RESULTS: No difference was found between the two groups with regard to the genotypic frequencies for rs55829688 and rs75315904 (P > 0.05). However, the frequencies of C allele of rs55829688 between the two groups was significantly different (P < 0.05). In the SLE group, the frequencies of C allele and CT+CC genotype for rs55829688 among SLE patients with nephritis were significantly lower than those of SLE patients without nephritis (P < 0.05). In addition, haplotype analysis showed that the frequency of rs55829688 C/rs75315904 A allele in the SLE group was lower than that of the control group (P < 0.05). CONCLUSION In Guangxi population, the carrier status of rs55829688 C allele of the lncRNA-GAS5 gene may reduce the risk of SLE and its complicated nephritis, and the rs55829688 C/rs75315904 A haplotype may reduce the risk for SLE.
