BACKGROUND:Apoptosis plays an important role in secondary brain injury.Therefore,to explore the pathophysiological mechanism of promoting nerve cell survival after traumatic brain injury provides a new direction and theoretical basis for the prevention and treatment of traumatic brain injury. OBJECTIVE:To explore the expression changes of Lnx1 molecule in mammalian cortical neurons after brain injury and the possible mechanism involved in secondary brain injury. METHODS:Eighty adult SD rats were divided into 20 male and 20 female mice in sham operation group and 20 male and 20 female mice in traumatic brain injury group.The traumatic brain injury rat model was established by heavy falling method.At 6,12,24,48,and 72 hours after brain injury,the expression of related molecules in damaged cortical neurons was analyzed by RT-qPCR,western blot assay,and immunofluorescence staining. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:(1)The brain tissue of traumatic brain injury group was bleeding and obvious tissue injury could be observed.Water content of brain tissue increased after traumatic brain injury.(2)Compared with the sham operation group,the expression of Lnx1 in cortical neurons after traumatic brain injury increased significantly at 24 hours after injury.(3)After traumatic brain injury,the expression of PBK and BCR protein decreased,and the pro-survival factor ctgf increased.(4)These findings suggest that after traumatic brain injury,the expression of Lnx1 is up-regulated in neurons,which may be due to the decrease of the expression of its target molecules PBK and BCR,and further promote the expression of living factor ctgf,which has a protective effect on the damaged neurons.

Objective To discuss the clinical value of preoperative neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio(NLR)and platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio(PLR)in predicting the prognosis of patients with unresectable hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)after receiving transcatheter arterial chemoembolization(TACE)combined with micro wave ablation(MWA).Methods The clinical data of 110 patients with unresectable HCC,who received TACE with sequential MWA at the Affiliated Hospital of Xuzhou Medical University of China from March 2018 to March 2022,were retrospectively analyzed.The median NLR and PLR values were used as the cut-off values.Mann-Whitney U test was used to compare the differences in the baseline characteristics between the high NLR/PLR group and low NLR/PLR group.Overall survival(OS)and progression-free survival(PFS)curves were plotted by using Kaplan-Meier method,which were compared by using log-rank test.Univariate Cox proportional hazards regression model was adopted to determine the factors associated with OS and PFS.Multivariate analysis of the variables,which had a P＜0.05 in the univariate analysis,was performed.Results The median NLR and PLR were 2.05 and 90 respectively.Compared with the high NLR/PLR group,in the low NLR/PLR group the OS was obviously better[1 100 days(95％CI=1 047.7-1 153.7)vs 683 days(95％CI=552.5-814.8);1 076 days(95％CI=996.4-1 156.2)vs 721 days(95％CI=583.0-859.8)](all P＜0.01),and the PFS was longer[720 days(95％CI=361.6-1 078.4)vs 298 days(95％CI=47.0-205.8);545 days(95％CI=292.3-797.7)vs 270 days(95％CI=213.5-326.5)](all P＜0.05).High NLR(HR=2.193,95％CI=1.358-3.541,P=0.001;HR=37.883,95％CI=4.83-296.760,P=0.001)and high PLR(HR=2.117,95％CI=1.306-3.434,P=0.002;HR=6.547,95％CI=2.367-18.113,P＜0.01)were the predictors of poor PFS and OS.Conclusion The preoperative NLR and PLR have a good predictive value for the therapeutic effect of TACE with sequential MWA for HCC.

Diffuse pediatric-type high-grade glioma (pHGG), H3- and isocitrate dehydrogenase (IDH)-wild-type, is a World Health Organization (WHO) grade 4 diffuse glioma with malignant histological features, which typically affects in children and adolescents. This multidisciplinary treatment case involves a 24-year-old young female patient initially diagnosed via biopsy. After concurrent chemoradiotherapy reduced the tumor size, complete resection was achieved, followed by adjuvant therapy with temozolomide and regorafenib. After recurrence, the tumor was resected again, and a second course of radiotherapy was administered, but the disease ultimately progressed rapidly, with an overall survival exceeding 32 months. pHGGs are highly malignant, aggressive, and associated with poor prognosis. Accurate diagnosis and targeted intervention require close collaboration among a multidisciplinary team, which highlights the critical value of multidisciplinary manage-ment in clinical practice.

Objective:To observe the effects of Qifu Lizhong Enema Prescription on ulcerative colitis rats with yang deficiency of spleen and kidney syndrome; To discuss its mechanism.Methods:Totally 70 male SD rats were randomly divided into blank group, model group, mesalazine group, Qifu Lizhong Guanchang Prescription high-, medium- and low-dosage groups; blank group ( n=10), other groups ( n=12). Except for the blank group, the other groups used bitter cold purgative therapy (Dahuang Decoction) by gavage, and combined with trinitrobenzen sulfonic acid (TNBS) +55% ethanol compound method to induce UC rat model. After successful modeling, the blank group and model group were given 1 ml normal saline enema daily, Qifu Lizhong Enema Prescription groups were given Qifu Lizhong Enema Prescription 3.00, 1.50, 0.75 g/kg enema daily, and the mesalazine group was given mesalazine 0.03 g/kg enema daily, once a day for consecutive 14 days. After 14 days, Disease Activity Index (DAI) score was performed, and hematoxylin-eosin staining (HE) was used to observe the pathological tissues of the colon. The expressions of Occludin and adhesion molecules A (JAM-A) protein in colon tissue were detected by immunohistochemistry and Western blot. Results:HE results showed that the mucosal structure was damaged, inflammatory cells were infiltrated, edema and ulcer foci were observed in model group. The mucosal structure of mesalazine group and Qifu Lizhong Enema Prescription groups were intact, and inflammatory infiltration, edema and ulcer of neoepithelial were improved. Compared with model group, the DAI scores of Qifu Lizhong Enema Prescription groups decreased ( P<0.01), the expressions of Occludin and JAM-A in Qifu Lizhong Guanchang Prescription high- and medium-dosage groups significantly increased ( P<0.05). Conclusion:Qifu Lizhong Enema Prescription can significantly relieve the symptoms and pathological morphology of UC rats, and the mechanism of repairing intestinal mucosal barrier may be related to up-regulating the expressions of Occludin and JAM-A proteins.

Objective To evaluate the clinical safety and effectiveness of intravascular stent combined with 125I seed strip implantation in the treatment of superior vena cava syndrome(SVCS)caused by malignant tumors.Methods The clinical data of 43 patients with SVCS,who were admitted to the Affiliated Hospital of Xuzhou Medical University of China from May 2017 to October 2022,were retrospective analyzed.Of the 43 patients,27 received intravascular stent combined with l25I seed strip implantation(observation group),and 16 received simple intravascular stent implantation(control group).The stent patency rate,clinical symptom relief rate,and survival time were compared between the two groups.Results Successful operation was accomplished in all the 43 patients.In the observation group,the postoperative 3-month stent patency rate and average survival time were 88.7％and 39.1 weeks respectively,which were significantly higher than 62.5％and 21.8 weeks respectively in the control group,the differences between the two groups were statistically significant(P=0.033 and P=0.035 respectively).After treatment,all the clinical symptoms were relieved.Conclusion For the treatment of SVCS,intravascular stent combined with 125I seed strip implantation is clinically safe and effective,it can be used as the preferred treatment option.(J Intervent Radiol,2024,33:632-635)

Objective To investigate the current situation of Staphylococcus aureus contamination in raw and cooked meat and dairy products in Wuhan, and analyze the enterotoxins production and antimicrobial resistance of isolated bacterial strains. Methods The detection of Staphylococcus aureus was performed according to GB4789.10-2016 National Food Safety Standard. Staphylococcus aureus enterotoxin (SE) PCR kit and ELISA were used for SEA-E type detection. Broth dilution and PCR method were used for drug sensitivity test. Results A total of 13 strains of Staphylococcus aureus were isolated from 202 samples, and the isolation rate of Staphylococcus aureus in the raw and cooked meat and dairy products was 6.43%. The detection rate of Staphylococcus aureus was 9.82% (11/112) in raw meat, and 4% (2/50) in cooked meat products. There was no detection in dairy products. Of the 13 isolated strains, 6 strains were found to have enterotoxins, with a toxin production rate of 46.15% (6/13). Among the 6 strains of enterotoxin producing Staphylococcus aureus, 4 strains were classified as type A, C, D, and AB, respectively. The isolated strains were generally resistant to tetracycline and sulfonamide drugs, and the detection rate of resistant genes was more than 60%. The resistance rate to penicillin and erythromycin exceeded 50%, and the dominant resistance spectrum was the detection of 3 strains of single-resistant (PEN) Staphylococcus aureus (25.08%, 3/13), followed by 2 strains of five-fold resistance (PEN-ERY-CLI-SXT-GEN), and double resistance Staphylococcus aureus (PEN-ERY) (15.38%, 2/13). Genetic testing was consistent with phenotypic testing. Conclusion In 2020, there was a certain degree of contamination of Staphylococcus aureus in raw and cooked meat products in Wuhan, with 13 isolated strains and 6 strains producing enterotoxins. It is necessary to remain vigilant about the potential food risks of raw and cooked meat products, and strengthen the supervision of the safety risks of raw and cooked meat products.

Objective:To investigate the degree of satisfaction with education of undergraduates majoring in medical technology in medical universities in China and associated problems, and to put forward countermeasures and suggestions for student training.Methods:A questionnaire was distributed to undergraduates majoring in medical technology selected by stratified sampling from Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Tianjin Medical University, and Shanghai University of Medicine & Health Sciences. The questionnaire covered demographic characteristics, major choice motivation, education satisfaction, and various aspects, including a total of 54 variables (21 nominal variables and 33 continuous variables). Statistical analysis was performed by using SPSS 27.0 One-way analysis of variance was used for group comparison.Results:The mean degree of satisfaction with education of the students of medical technology was 4.02 points, with the highest score for curricula and teaching and the lowest score for academic atmosphere. Cultivation and management showed the strongest correlation with the degree of satisfaction with education. The degree of satisfaction with education differed significantly for different institutions and different major choice motivations ( P<0.05). Conclusions:Undergraduates of medical technology are generally satisfied with their education, and the degree of satisfaction is lower in double first-class universities than in application-oriented ordinary universities. Attention should be paid to student training and management, creating a positive academic atmosphere, and enhancing the attractiveness of colleges/universities and majors. Compared with application-oriented undergraduate colleges/universities, double first-class universities should well coordinate training goals with students' expectations, industry needs, and even national strategic needs. Colleges and universities can make appropriate adjustments in terms of curricula, teaching, and teaching resources, to promote the diverse and orderly development of medical technology talents based on their personal strengths.

Objective To comparatively observe the incidence of complications and patency rate within 1 year after implantation of totally implantable venous access port(TIVAP)through internal jugular vein(IJV)between different locations of catheter tip.Methods Data of 2 104 patients with tumors who received TIVAP implantation through IJV were retrospectively analyzed.Patients who underwent TIVAP implantation through the right IJV(group R,n=1 903)were divided into R1(n=376,with catheter tip located at the upper right atrium,i.e.0.5 to 1.0 cm below the cavoatrial junction[CAJ])and R2 subgroups(n=1 527,with catheter tips located between the lower 1/3 of superior vena cava[SVC]and CAJ),while those who underwent TIVAP implantation through the left IJV(group L,n=201)were divided into L1(n=64)and L2 subgroups(n=137),respectively.Patients'basic information,incidence of complication and patency rate of catheter 1 year after TIVAP implantation were collected and compared between subgroups.Results No significant difference of gender,age,clinical diagnosis,tumor stage,nor of incidence of complication including pneumothorax/hemopneumothorax,local skin injury,TIVAP infection,catheter-associated thrombosis,drug extravasation,catheter displacement and arrhythmia was found between subgroups within group R nor L(all P＞0.05).One year after TIVAP implantation,no significant difference of catheter patency rates was found between subgroup R1(94.15%)and R2(93.78%)(χ2=0.069,P=0.793),nor between subgroup L1(98.44%)and L2(89.78%)(Yates'continuity correction χ2=3.563,P=0.059).Conclusion No significant difference of incidence of complications nor catheter patency rate within 1 year after implantation of TIVAP was found between catheter tip location at the upper right atrium or between the lower 1/3 of SVC and CAJ through the right or left IJC.

Objective To explore the impact of δ-catenin expression level on resting-state brain function in breast cancer patients.Methods Totally 104 female breast cancer patients were prospectively enrolled and divided into δ-catenin high expression group(DH group,n=51)and δ-catenin low expression group(DL group,n=53)according to δ-catenin expression level,while 36 female healthy volunteers were selected as controls(control group).Neuropsychological tests were performed,and resting-state functional MRI(rs-fMRI)were acquired,then parameters of brain function,including amplitude of low frequency fluctuation(ALFF),fractional ALFF(fALFF),regional homogeneity(ReHo)and functional connectivity strength(FCS)of brain regions with differences among groups were obtained.Spearman correlation analysis was used to evaluate the correlations of function parameters of brain regions with general data and neuropsychological test scores.Results Significant differences of fALFF,ReHo and FCS values were found among 3 groups(familywise error rate[FWE]correction,all P＜0.05).fALFF value of left inferior temporal gyrus in DH and DL groups were both higher than that in control group(FWE correction,both P＜0.05),ReHo value of right inferior temporal gyrus in DH group,as well as of right middle temporal gyrus,right inferior temporal gyrus and right fusiform gyrus in DL group were all lower than that in control group(FWE correction,all P＜0.05),FSC value of left lenticular nucleus,left putamen,left fusiform gyrus,left calcarine fissure surrounding cortex and left inferior temporal gyrus in DH group were all higher than that in DL group(FWE correction,all P＜0.05),FSC value of left lenticular nucleus,left putamen,left fusiform gyrus and left calcarine fissure surrounding cortex in DH group were all higher than that in control group(FWE correction,all P＜0.05),while FSC value of left lingual gyrus,left lenticular nucleus and left putamen were both higher than that in control group(FWE correction,both P＜0.05).In brain regions with different fMRI indexes between DH group and DL group,FSC values were lowly positively correlated with CogPCA results(r=0.313,P＜0.05).In brain regions with different fMRI indexes between DH group and control group,fALFF value were lowly positively correlated with trail making test A(TMT A)and trail making test B(TMT B)(r=0.301,0.310,both P＜0.05),ReHo values were lowly negatively correlated with TMT B(r=-0.307,P＜0.05),FCS values were weakly/lowly positively correlated with TMT A and TMT B(r=0.282,0.309,both P＜0.05)and lowly negatively correlated with results of digital symbol substitution test(DSST)(r=-0.363,P＜0.05).In brain regions with different fMRI indexes between DL group and control group,fALFF values were weakly/lowly negatively correlated with results of mini mental state examination(MMSE),Montreal cognitive assessment(MoCA),auditory verbal learning test(AVLT)short-term memory and DSST(r=-0.399,-0.362,-0.344,-0.288,all P＜0.05).Conclusion The expression level of δ-catenin had certain impact on brain function of breast cancer patients,resulted in asymmetry changes of brain network in bilateral hemispheres,as well as memory loss through affecting left inferior temporal gyrus,left lenticular nucleus,left putamen and left fusiform gyrus.

OBJECTIVE: To assess the value of copy number variation sequencing (CNV-seq) for the diagnosis of children with intellectual disability (ID), developmental delay (DD), and autistic spectrum disorder (ASD). METHODS: Forty patients with ID/DD/ASD referred to Nanshan Maternity and Child Health Care Hospital from September 2018 to January 2022 were enrolled. G-banded karyotyping analysis was carried out for the patients. Genomic DNA was extracted from peripheral blood samples and subjected to CNV-Seq analysis to detect chromosome copy number variations (CNVs) in such patients. ClinVar, DECIPHER, OMIM and other database were searched for data annotation. RESULTS: Among the 40 patients (including 30 males and 10 females), 16, 15 and 6 were diagnosed with ID, DD and ASD, respectively. One patient had combined symptoms of ID and DD, whilst the remaining two had combined ID and ASD. Four patients were found with abnormal karyotypes, including 47,XY,+mar, 46,XY,inv(8)(p11.2q21.2), 46,XX,del(5)(p14) and 46,XX[76]/46,X,dup(X)(p21.1q12). Chromosome polymorphism was also found in two other patients. CNV-seq analysis has detected 32 CNVs in 20 patients (50.0%, 20/40). Pathogenic CNVs were found in 10 patients (25.0%), 15 CNVs of uncertain clinical significance were found in 12 patients (30.0%), and 7 likely benign CNVs were found in 4 patients (10.0%). CONCLUSION Chromosome CNVs play an important role in the pathogenesis of ID/DD/ASD. CNV-seq can detect chromosomal abnormalities including microdeletions and microduplications, which could provide a powerful tool for revealing the genetic etiology of ID/DD/ASD patients.
