OBJECTIVE To evaluate the therapeutic effects and safety of everolimus combined with letrozole and conventional chemotherapy for metastatic or recurrent endometrial carcinoma (EC). METHODS The clinical and follow-up data of 156 patients with metastatic or recurrent EC admitted to Nanyang Central Hospital from January 2020 to January 2024 were analyzed retrospectively. They were divided into a control group (77 cases) and an observation group (79 cases) according to different therapeutic regimens. The control group received paclitaxel+carboplatin/cisplatin regimen, and concurrently took Letrozole tablets at a dose of 2.5 mg orally once daily; the observation group took Everolimus tablets 10 mg orally, once a day, in addition to the treatment regimen given to the control group. Each treatment cycle lasted 21 days, and both groups of patients underwent continuous treatment for 6 to 8 cycles. The short-term efficacy indicators (objective response rate and disease control rate), the levels of serum tumor markers [carbohydrate antigen 125, human epididymis protein 4, vascular endothelial growth factor and matrix metalloproteinase-9] and medium- to long-term efficacy indicators [progression-free survival (PFS) and overall survival (OS)] were compared between the two groups. Additionally, the occurrence of toxic and side effects in both groups of patients was recorded. RESULTS The objective response rate (53.16%), disease control rate (89.87%), median PFS (6.47 months) and median OS (10.79 months) of the observation group were significantly higher or longer than those (22.08%, 68.83%, 4.63 months, 8.84 months) of the control group (P<0.05). Compared with before treatment, the levels of serum tumor markers in both groups decreased significantly after 6 cycles of treatment; the above indexes of the observation group were significantly lower than those of the control group (P<0.05). The proportion of patients with stomatitis in the observation group was significantly higher than that of the control group (P<0.05), and there was no statistically significant difference in the proportions of patients experiencing other toxic and side effects, such as leukopenia, between the two groups (P>0.05). CONCLUSIONS The everolimus combined with letrozole and conventional chemotherapy can effectively improve the short-term efficacy and prolong the survival period in patients with metastatic or recurrent EC, but attention should be paid to the occurrence of toxic and side effects, especially stomatitis.

Objective:
To explore the relationship between snack consumption and depressive symptoms in first year junior high school students with different left behind experiences in Yunnan Province, so as to provide a basis for improving depressive symptoms among first year junior high school students with different left behind experiences.
Methods:
From October to December 2022,a cluster random sampling method was used to select 8 500 first year junior high school students from 11 ethnic minority areas (Fugong County, Longling County, Longyang District, Luchun County, Mojiang County, Nanjian County, Qiaojia County, Shuangjiang County, Tengchong City, Yuanmou County, Zhenyuan County) in Yunnan Province for a questionnaire survey. The Chinese version of Depression Anxiety Stress Scale-21 was applied to assess depressive symptoms in first year junior high school students, and snack consumption was collected by employing food frequency questionnaire. The generalized linear model was used to analyze the association between first year junior high school students snack consumption and depressive symptoms, and the analysis was stratified according to left behind experience.
Results:
The detection rates of depressive symptoms among firstyear junior high school students with and without left behind experience were 36.25% and 26.91%, respectively. After controlling for confounding variables, the generalized linear model analysis showed that sweet snacks ( β=0.16, 95%CI =0.07-0.25), fast food ( β=0.14, 95%CI =0.04-0.23) and carbonated drinks ( β=0.09, 95%CI =0.01-0.17) of first year junior high school students with left behind experience (all P <0.05). Compared with those without such behavior, the risk of depressive symptoms was higher in consumption of fast food ( β=0.13, 95%CI =0.07-0.18) and carbonated drinks ( β=0.10, 95%CI =0.06-0.15)among first year junior high school students without left behind experience (both P <0.05).
Conclusion
Snack consumption among first year junior high school students in Yunnan may increase the risk of developing depressive symptoms, while first year junior high school students with left behind experience may have a greater risk of developing depressive symptoms.

Among them, there were 20 males and 26 females, with an average age of (40±18) years. The CT and MRI manifestations of the patients were recorded, and the tumor location, size, shape, boundary, CT density, T 1-weighted imaging, T 2-weighted imaging, diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI), fat suppression sequence, and inverse phase signal were observed. Results:29 cases underwent plain CT scan combined with enhanced scan. Among them, 4 cases (13.8%) had a round shape, 22 cases (47.8%) had a nearly round shape, and 3 cases (10.3%) had an irregular shape. 26 cases (89.7%) had clear boundaries, and 3 cases (10.3%) had unclear boundaries. 5 cases (17.2%) had uniform density, and 24 cases (82.8%) had non-uniform density. The CT value of the tumor was (32±6.8) Hu. 25 cases (86.2%) contained fat tissue within the tumor. Among them, 13 cases (44.8%) were mixed type. After enhancement, the fat tissue and necrotic cystic changes did not enhance, and the soft tissue components showed varying degrees of enhancement in the arterial phase. Among them, 6 cases continued to enhance in the portal venous phase and delayed phase, showing " fast in and slow out" , and 7 cases showed decreased enhancement in the portal venous phase and delayed phase, showing " fast in and fast out" . 17 cases underwent plain MRI scan combined with enhanced scan. Among them, 12 cases were mixed type. On T 2-weighted imaging with fat suppression, it was a mixed high signal, on T 1-weighted imaging, it was an isointense/low signal or mixed low signal, and on DWI, it was a high signal, with partial signal reduction on the inverse phase. 9 cases of tumor septation showed isointense signals on T 1-weighted imaging, 7 cases showed isointense signals on T 2-weighted imaging, and 2 cases showed high signals on T 2-weighted imaging. After enhancement, the mass showed heterogeneous enhancement, with 7 cases showing " fast in and fast out" and 5 cases showing " fast in and slow out" . Conclusion:Plain CT scan shows that HAML is round or nearly round, with non-uniform low density or uniform isodensity. Plain MRI scan shows isointense or slightly high signal on T 2-weighted imaging, low signal on T 1-weighted imaging, and high signal on T 2-weighted imaging with fat suppression. After enhancement, there is significant or mild to moderate enhancement in the arterial phase, with " fast in and fast out" or " fast in and slow out" as the characteristics.

Colonic mucosal healing is the ultimate goal of ulcerative colitis (UC) treatment, but it remains difficult to realize. Given the higher incidence of UC in males and the beneficial effect of estrogen on UC, we conducted this study to examine the therapeutic potential of estrogen receptor β (ERβ), the primary ER subtype in colon, on mucosal healing in UC. Our study is the first to report that ERβ activation degree was positively correlated with mucosal healing in patients with UC. Furthermore, ERβ activation enhanced mucosal healing in mice with dextran sulfate sodium-induced and biopsy-induced colonic injuries. Mechanistically, ERβ activation promoted autophagy of colonic epithelial cells by inhibiting branched-chain amino acid transport, leading to focal adhesion kinase (FAK) activation. Activated FAK promoted focal adhesion turnover and colonic epithelial cell migration, ultimately facilitating mucosal healing. ERβ -/- colitis mice exhibited impaired mucosal healing compared to wild-type littermates, highlighting the crucial effect of ERβ. Importantly, combination with ERβ-agonist diarylpropionitrile enhanced the amelioration of 5-aminosalicylic acid, a standard UC treatment agent, against mouse colitis. These findings attest to the crucial role of ERβ activation in colonic mucosal healing and may further inform the development of novel strategies for UC treatment.
