AIM: To explore the effect of dihydroquercetin on visual function in mice with form deprivation myopia based on the NOD-like receptor thermoprotein domain-related protein 3(NLRP3)inflammasome pathway.METHODS: The C57BL/6 mice were randomly divided into control group and form deprivation myopia model group, and the form deprivation myopia model group was constructed by covering the right eye with a translucent eye patch. After successful modeling, the mice in the model group of form deprivation myopia were randomly divided into model group, low-, medium- and high-dose dihydroquercetin groups, and high-dose dihydroquercetin + NLRP3 agonist group. The diopter and axial length of mice in each group were detected. The kit was used to detect the levels of superoxide dismutase(SOD)and malondialdehyde(MDA)in retinal tissue. RT-qPCR was used to detect the mRNA expressions of NLRP3, apoptosis-associated spot-like protein(ASC), Caspase-1, IL-1β and IL-18 in retinal tissues. Western blot was used to detect the expression of NLRP3, ASC, cleaved Caspase-1, IL-1β and IL-18 proteins in retinal tissues. TUNEL staining was used to detect apoptosis in retinal tissue.RESULTS: Compared with the control group, the diopter of the mice in the model group decreased, and axial length increased, and the SOD decreased whereas MDA, NLRP3, ASC, Caspase-1, IL-1β, IL-18 increased, and the rate of apoptosis in retinal tissue increased(all P<0.05). Compared with the model group, the diopter of mice in the low-, medium- and high-dose dihydroquercetin groups increased, axial length shortened, the SOD increased, whereas MDA, NLRP3, ASC, Caspase-1, IL-1β, IL-18 decreased, and the rate of apoptosis in retinal tissue decreased(all P<0.05). Compared with the high-dose dihydroquercetin group, the high-dose dihydroquercetin+NLRP3 agonist group had reduced diopter, increased axial length, decreased SOD levels, elevated MDA, NLRP3, ASC, Caspase-1, IL-1β, and IL-18 levels, as well as increased apoptosis rate in retinal tissue(all P<0.05).CONCLUSION: Dihydroquercetin can improve visual function in mice with form deprivation myopia by inhibiting pyroptosis and oxidative stress responses, which may be related to the suppression of NLRP3 inflammasome. NLRP3 agonists can partially mitigate the effects of high-dose dihydroquercetin on form deprivation myopia in mice.

ObjectiveGastric hemorrhage is one of the most common and life-threatening emergencies of the upper digestive tract. Early identification and continuous monitoring are essential for reducing rebleeding rates and mortality, particularly within the critical early hours after onset. Although endoscopy and radiological imaging can accurately localize bleeding sites, these approaches are invasive, resource-intensive, and unsuitable for continuous bedside monitoring. Electrical impedance tomography (EIT), as a noninvasive and radiation-free functional imaging technique, offers real-time visualization of conductivity distribution and has the potential for detecting intragastric bleeding based on the electrical contrast between blood and surrounding gastric tissues. In this study, a three-dimensional gastric EIT (3D-gEIT) framework is proposed to achieve noninvasive, real-time, and dynamic monitoring of gastric hemorrhage, with emphasis on spatial localization and quantitative volume assessment. MethodsA three-dimensional upper-abdominal simulation model incorporating the stomach, gastric wall, gastric contents, and surrounding tissues was established. Three electrode configurations, namely the dual layer ring, the four layer staggered ring, and the opposed dual plane array, were designed and systematically compared to evaluate their influence on depth sensitivity and spatial resolution. Based on the Tikhonov-Noser hybrid regularization scheme, a region-clustering constraint was introduced to develop the TK-Noser-RCC algorithm. This approach aggregates spatially adjacent elements with similar conductivity variations, thereby enhancing structural continuity and suppressing isolated noise artifacts. To validate the proposed framework, an upper-abdominal physical phantom was constructed using agar to simulate background tissue conductivity. Hemispherical high-conductivity inclusions with volumes ranging from 10 ml to 50 ml were attached to the inner gastric wall to mimic localized bleeding under different gastric filling states. Boundary voltages were acquired under a 120 kHz excitation current and reconstructed using the TK-Noser-RCC algorithm. Furthermore, an in vivo animal experiment was performed using a porcine model with adult-scale abdominal dimensions. A total of 100 ml of autologous blood was injected incrementally into the stomach to simulate progressive gastric hemorrhage, and time-difference EIT reconstruction was conducted at each injection stage to assess the dynamic system response under physiological conditions. ResultsSimulation results demonstrated that the opposed dual-plane electrode array achieved superior depth sensitivity distribution and spatial resolution. For a 40 ml hemorrhage model, the average ICC and SSIM improved by 55.9% and 38.8% compared with the dual-layer ring configuration, and by 64.0% and 39.5% compared with the four-layer staggered configuration. The proposed region-clustering constraint significantly enhanced reconstruction stability. Under added Gaussian noise of 40 dB and 30 dB, ICC values remained approximately 0.85, indicating effective artifact suppression and preservation of boundary integrity. In physical phantom experiments, reconstructed hemorrhage volumes increased approximately linearly with the preset hemispherical volumes, and the reconstructed high-conductivity regions closely matched the actual bleeding locations. Both empty-stomach and full-stomach conditions were evaluated, demonstrating that the opposed dual-plane configuration maintained stable imaging performance across varying gastric contents. In the animal experiment, reconstructed low-impedance regions expanded progressively with increasing injected blood volume. The spatial localization of the hemorrhage remained stable throughout the procedure, and no significant artifacts were observed. Quantitative analysis showed that reconstructed volume and average conductivity variation exhibited an approximately linear growth trend with injected blood volume, confirming the sensitivity of the system to dynamic intragastric conductivity changes. ConclusionThe proposed 3D-gEIT framework enables quantitative reconstruction of gastric hemorrhage volume and spatial distribution with improved depth sensitivity, structural continuity, and noise robustness compared with conventional EIT approaches. By integrating optimized electrode configuration and a region-clustering-constrained reconstruction algorithm, the system provides stable dynamic monitoring under both controlled phantom conditions and in vivo physiological environments. This method offers a noninvasive, real-time, and low-cost imaging strategy for early diagnosis, postoperative monitoring, and bedside surveillance of gastric bleeding.
3.Analysis of related factors for the comorbidity of allergic rhinitis and obesity among primary and secondary school students in Inner Mongolia
Chinese Journal of School Health 2026;47(1):27-31
Objective:
To investigate the factors influencing the co-prevalence of allergic rhinitis and obesity among primary and secondary school students in Inner Mongolia, so as to provide a data foundation and theoretical basis for developing targeted intervention measures.
Methods:
In September and October 2024, a stratified cluster random sampling method was employed to select 139 102 students from 539 schools across 12 leagues/cities and 103 banners/counties in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. Participants who were diagnosed with allergic rhinitis by a doctor at least once within one year and had a body mass index ≥ 28 kg/m 2 were considered to have comorbid conditions.
Results:
The coprevalence rate of allergic rhinitis and obesity among primary and secondary school students in Inner Mongolia was 6.4% (8 931 cases). Lasso-Logistic regression revealed that nonboarding status, higher maternal education, consuming high protein foods ≥1 time daily, occasionally or never eating breakfast, engaging in moderate to vigorous physical activity for ≥60 minutes on fewer than half of holidays, and having been exposed to second hand smoke in person within the past seven days were associated with higher odds ratios for co-prevalence of allergic rhinitis and obesity( OR = 1.23 , 1.22-1.63, 1.20, 1.19, 1.38, 1.35); being female, higher grade level, residence in flag/county/district areas, non only child status, never having consumed a full glass of alcohol, non hypertensive status, and households without pets were associated with lower co-prevalence risks ( OR =0.65, 0.67-0.77, 0.81, 0.87, 0.73, 0.41, 0.68) (all P <0.05). The ROC curve indicated an area under the curve of 0.64 for the predictive model, demonstrating satisfactory discriminatory ability. The calibration curve showed consistency between predicted and actual occurrence probabilities.
Conclusions
The co-prevalence of allergic rhinitis and obesity among primary and secondary school students in Inner Mongolia is closely associated with demographic characteristics, dietary behaviours, and lifestyle habits. Future prevention and control strategies should prioritize these factors to implement targeted interventions.

ObjectiveTo investigate the mechanisms by which Bushen Tongluo Jiangzhuo prescription improves renal fibrosis in rats with chronic kidney disease (CKD) through the phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase (PI3K)/protein kinase B (Akt)/mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR) signaling pathway. MethodsSeventy specific pathogen-free (SPF) Sprague-Dawley (SD) rats were randomly divided into a control group (n=15) and a modeling group (n=55). Rats in the modeling group were administered a 2.5% adenine suspension at a dose of 200 mg·kg-1·d-1 by gavage for 4 weeks to establish a CKD model. Successfully modeled rats were randomly divided into a model group, an irbesartan group (20.25 mg·kg-1·d-1), and Bushen Tongluo Jiangzhuo prescription low-, medium-, and high-dose groups (5.82, 11.64, and 23.28 g·kg-1·d-1, respectively), with 10 rats in each group. Each group was administered an equal volume of physiological saline, the corresponding concentration of irbesartan, or Bushen Tongluo Jiangzhuo prescription by gavage for 12 weeks. Body weight and renal function indices were dynamically monitored. Serum creatinine (SCr), blood urea nitrogen (BUN), urine albumin-to-creatinine ratio (ACR), 24-hour urinary total protein (24 hUTP), aspartate aminotransferase (AST), alanine aminotransferase (ALT), interleukin-1β (IL-1β), interleukin-6 (IL-6), and tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) levels were measured using an automatic biochemical analyzer. Renal histopathological changes were observed by hematoxylin-eosin (HE) and Masson staining. Immunohistochemistry (IHC) was used to detect the expression of PI3K, Akt, phosphorylated Akt (p-Akt), and mTOR in renal tissues. Western blot was performed to assess the protein expression of PI3K, p-Akt, Akt, phosphorylated mTOR (p-mTOR), and mTOR in renal tissues. Real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction (Real-time PCR) was used to determine the mRNA expression levels of PI3K, Akt, and mTOR in renal tissues. ResultsCompared with the model group, rats in the irbesartan group and the low-, medium-, and high-dose Bushen Tongluo Jiangzhuo prescription groups showed significantly decreased levels of SCr, BUN, ACR, 24 hUTP, IL-1β, IL-6, and TNF-α (P<0.01). AST levels were significantly increased (P<0.01), while no significant difference was observed in ALT levels. Histopathological examination revealed that, compared with the model group, renal tubular epithelial cell edema and necrosis and Bowman's capsule dilation were alleviated, inflammatory cell infiltration was reduced, and interstitial and glomerular fibrosis was markedly improved in all treatment groups, with the most pronounced effect observed in the high-dose Bushen Tongluo Jiangzhuo prescription group. Real-time PCR results showed that mRNA expression levels of PI3K, Akt, and mTOR were significantly downregulated in the high-dose group (P<0.01). IHC results demonstrated that PI3K and p-Akt expression levels in renal tissues were significantly decreased in the high-dose group (P<0.01). Western blot analysis further confirmed that the expression levels of PI3K, p-Akt/Akt, and p-mTOR/mTOR were significantly reduced in the high-dose group (P<0.01). ConclusionBushen Tongluo Jiangzhuo prescription improves renal function indices in CKD rats, reduces collagen deposition in renal tissues, and decreases serum inflammatory factor levels. Its protective effect on renal function may be achieved by activating autophagy through downregulation of the PI3K/Akt/mTOR signaling pathway, thereby alleviating renal fibrosis.

Effective symptom management can alleviate the physical and psychological distress experienced by patients with cancer, improve quality of life, and contribute to treatment adherence and improve clinical outcomes. However, most existing guidelines are developed for healthcare professionals, and patients and the public have limited access to standardized and comprehensible guidance on symptom management. To address this gap and to facilitate effective communication and shared decision-making, this study proposes the development of a patient version of the cancer symptom management guideline. The development process will adhere to the methodological framework recommended by the Guidelines International Network and the World Health Organization. The GRADE approach will be employed to assess the certainty of evidence and to formulate recommendations. In addition, the process will be informed by the Appraisal of Guidelines for Research and Evaluation Ⅱ (AGREE Ⅱ) instrument and the Reporting Items for Practice Guidelines in Healthcare-Public or Patient Versions of Guidelines (RIGHT-PVG). This protocol outlines the establishment of the guideline working group, the identification and prioritization of key questions, evidence retrieval and appraisal, and the formulation of recommendations, with the aim of ensuring methodological rigor and transparency in the development of the patient guideline and providing methodological reference for similar guideline initiatives.

Metabolic associated fatty liver disease (MAFLD) is the most prevalent chronic liver disease worldwide, and its progression is closely associated with the development of liver fibrosis, liver cirrhosis, and even hepatocellular carcinoma. However, there is still a lack of effective therapies for MAFLD in clinical practice. Telomere is the protective structure at the end of chromosomes, and telomere shortening and functional impairment have been identified as one of the key factors regulating the pathological progression of MAFLD. This article systematically reviews the core mechanism of action of telomere regulation in MAFLD, including its molecular functions in nucleotide metabolism, oxidative stress, and epigenetic regulation, as well as its pathological effect in hepatocytes and hepatic stellate cells. In addition, this article explores the clinical prospects of telomeres as biomarkers and therapeutic targets for MAFLD, in order to provide a theoretical reference for improving the precise diagnosis and treatment system of MAFLD.

Journal of Public Health and Preventive Medicine 2026;37(4):61-65
Objective To explore the correlation between nutritional risk screening 2002 (NRS-2002) score and risk of acute exacerbation during 1-year follow-up in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), and to analyze the predictive value of NRS-2002 score on acute exacerbation. Methods A total of 314 patients hospitalized for acute exacerbation of COPD in the hospital were included between January 2021 and December 2024. All patients reached the stable disease standard after standardized treatment, and completed the NRS-2002 nutritional risk score assessment and other clinical data collection before discharge. 1-year follow-up was performed after discharge. According to whether acute exacerbation occurred again, they were classified into 62 cases in the acute exacerbation group and 252 cases in the non-acute exacerbation group. Univariate and logistic multivariate regression analyses were performed to analyze the risk factors for acute exacerbation. The correlation between NRS-2002 score and acute exacerbation risk during 1-year follow-up was analyzed by Spearman correlation analysis. ROC curve was drawn to analyze the predictive value of NRS-2002 score on acute exacerbation. Results The body mass index (BMI) and forced expiratory volume in one second as a percentage of predicted value (FEV1%) in the acute exacerbation group were lower while the proportion of smoking and NRS-2002 score were higher compared to the non-acute exacerbation group (P<0.05). After logistic multivariate analysis, it was found that low BMI, low FEV1%, smoking history, and NRS-2002 score were high risk factors for acute exacerbation in patients with stable COPD within 1 year (P<0.05). Spearman correlation indicated that NRS-2002 score exhibited a positive association with acute exacerbation risk (r=0.546, P<0.05). ROC curve analysis suggested that the area under the curve (AUC), sensitivity and specificity of NRS-2002 score in predicting acute exacerbation were 0.900, 69.35% and 98.41% respectively. Conclusion NRS-2002 score is positively linked to the risk of acute exacerbation in patients with stable COPD. Early assessment of NRS-2002 score can predict the risk of acute exacerbation.

BackgroundPatients with colorectal cancer are frequently comorbid with depression, which severely affects the quality of life and treatment compliance, while compromising the efficacy of anticancer treament and prognosis. Current therapeutic strategies still have notable limitations, particularly the lack of systematic and targeted synergistic regimens that integrate oncological management and anti-depressive intervention. It is of great clinical significance to explore a safe and effective new comprehensive intervention protocol and clarify its underlying mechanism of action. ObjectiveTo explore the effectiveness and safety of Shugan Yunpi Decoction in alleviating depressive and anxiety symptoms in colorectal cancer patients with depressive disorder through the PI3K-AKT signaling pathway, in order to provide references for the comprehensive treatment of colorectal cancer and depressive disorder. MethodsThis study was a randomized controlled trial. A total of 106 patients admitted to the Baoding No.1 Hospital of traditional Chinese medicine from November 2023 to July 2025 were enrolled, who met the diagnostic criteria for the Chinese protocol of diagnosis and treatment of colorectal cancer (2023 edition) and the diagnostic criteria for depressive disorder as specified in the Chinese Classification and Diagnostic Criteria of Mental Disease, third edition (CCMD-3). Patients were divided into the study group and the control group using a random number table, with 53 cases in each group. The control group received conventional chemotherapy combined with traditional Chinese medicine five-element music therapy, while the study group received conventional chemotherapy combined with Shugan Yunpi Decoction therapy. Both groups were treated for 8 weeks. Depressive and anxiety symptoms were assessed using the Hamilton Depression Scale-17 item(HAMD-17) and Hamilton Anxiety Scale (HAMA), respectively. Western blot protein immunoblotting was used to detect the expression levels of PI3K, AKT, and pAKT. Real-time fluorescence quantitative reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR) was used to detect the expression levels of PI3K mRNA and AKT mRNA. Adverse reactions were recorded using a self-designed adverse reaction record form. ResultsRepeated measures analysis of variance showed that the time effects (F=139.336, 234.747), group effects (F=43.900, 101.266), and time-group interaction effects (F=13.409, 43.216) for HAMD-17 and HAMA scores in both groups were statistically significant (P<0.01). After 4 and 8 weeks of treatment, the HAMD-17 and HAMA scores in both groups were lower than those before treatment, with statistically significant differences (P<0.05). HAMD-17 and HAMA scores in the study group were lower than those in the control group (P<0.05). The time effects (F=571.356, 309.266, 414.492), group effects (F=6.901, 26.361, 39.362), and time-group interaction effects (F=18.592, 19.266, 33.484) for the protein expression levels of PI3K, AKT, and pAKT in both groups were all statistically significant (P<0.01). After 8 weeks of treatment, the protein expression levels of PI3K and pAKT in the study group were lower than those in the control group, while the AKT protein expression level was higher than that in the control group(P<0.01). The time effects (F=338.555, 225.059), group effects (F=5.429, 9.726), and time-group interaction effects (F=12.953, 21.214) for PI3K mRNA and AKT mRNA expression levels in two groups were all statistically significant (P<0.01). After 8 weeks of treatment, the expression levels of PI3K mRNA and AKT mRNA in the study group were lower than those in the control group (P<0.05). The incidence of adverse reactions in the study group was lower than that in the control group (χ2=4.810, P<0.05). ConclusionShugan Yunpi Decoction may help to ameliorate depressive and anxiety symptoms in colorectal cancer patients with depressive disorder by regulating the PI3K-AKT signaling pathway, decreasing the levels of PI3K, pAKT, PI3K mRNA, and AKT mRNA, with a favorable safety profile. International Eye Science 2026;26(10):1753-1758
Phacoemulsification represents the mainstream, efficient, and safe surgical modality for cataract treatment, and continuous technological advances have further improved the safety profile of this procedure in ordinary patients. However, patients with high myopia feature inherent anatomical abnormalities of the eyeball, leading to a fundamental incompatibility with conventional phacoemulsification protocols. Such patients face a markedly elevated risk of both anterior and posterior segment perioperative complications, posing a persistent clinical challenge in cataract surgery. Focusing on the unique ocular anatomical characteristics associated with high myopia, this review systematically summarizes the distinct traumatic effects and pathological impacts of phacoemulsification on the anterior and posterior ocular segments of affected patients. Moving beyond generalized discussions of routine cataract management, it consolidates clinical evidence specific to this special-population patients, aiming to provide refined references for perioperative risk prevention and control in cataract patients complicated with high myopia.
