OBJECTIVE To investigate the efficacy and safety of hepatic arterial infusion chemotherapy based on the oxaliplatin and fluorouracil drug combination (HAIC-FOLFOX) combined with camrelizumab in the treatment of unresectable hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). METHODS The data of 222 unresectable HCC patients hospitalized at Liaoning Cancer Hospital & Institute from January 1, 2021 to March 1, 2023 were retrospectively collected. Based on treatment regimens, patients were divided into a control group (HAIC-FOLFOX+sorafenib, n=117) and an observation group (HAIC-FOLFOX+camrelizumab, n= 105). Short-term efficacy indicators [objective remission rate (ORR) and disease control rate (DCR)] and long-term efficacy indicators [median overall survival (mOS) and median progression-free survival (mPFS) within one year] after 4 cycles of treatment, the levels of tumor markers (alpha fetoprotein, carcinoembryonic antigen, carbohydrate antigen 19-9), immune function indicators (CD3+, CD4+, and CD8+ T-cell subsets) before treatment and after 4 cycles of treatment, as well as the occurrence of adverse reactions, were compared between two groups. RESULTS The ORR of the observation group was 55.24%, which was significantly higher than 35.90% of the control group (P<0.05); while there was no statistically significant difference in DCR between the two groups (P>0.05). The mOS and mPFS within 1 year of the observation group (15.33, 10.83 months) were significantly longer than the control group (11.34, 8.04 months) (P<0.05). After 4 cycles of treatment, tumor marker levels of the two groups were significantly lower than before treatment, and the proportions of CD3+ and CD4+ T cells were significantly higher than before treatment (P<0.05). Above indexes of the observation group were significantly better than the control group at the same time (P<0.05). The proportions of patients in the observation group who developed grade 1-3 immune-related pneumonia and capillary proliferation were significantly higher than the control group (P<0.05), while there were no statistically significant differences in the proportions of patients experiencing grade 1-3 adverse reactions such as fever, fatigue and rash between two groups (P>0.05). CONCLUSIONS Compared with HAIC-FOLFOX combined with sorafenib, HAIC-FOLFOX combined with camrelizumab can significantly improve the ORR, prolong mOS and mPFS within 1 year, effectively reduce tumor marker levels, and improve certain immune function indicators in patients with unresectable HCC, but it increases the risk of immune-related adverse events.

Extraintestinal manifestations (EIM) of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) may affect multiple organ systems, with approximately 50% of IBD patients presenting with at least one EIM during the course of their disease, with cutaneous involvement being particularly common. Cutaneous manifestations can present in various forms. This paper reports a case of ulcerative colitis (UC) complicated with bullous pemphigoid (BP), aiming to enhance clinicians' awareness of skin lesions associated with UC.

Microplastics(particles<5 μm in diameter),generated through plastic processing or natural degradation, have emerged as novel environmental contaminants with increasing threats to ecosys-tems and human health.Recent studies have demonstrated the accumulation of microplastics in various environmental matrices, human tissues and even placentas, highlighting the urgent need to investigate their health effects. These particles enter the human system primarily through dietary intake and water consumption, yet critical knowledge gaps remain regarding their bioaccumulation potential, toxicological profiles, and synergistic interactions with co-existing environmental contaminants. The Drosophila mela-nogaster(fruit fly),a well-established model organism, offers distinct advantages for contaminant toxicity assessment, including a compact life cycle, small body size, rapid reproduction, ease of laboratory maintenance, and extensive availability of transgenic strains. In particular, its genome has a high degree of homology with the human genome, which further enhances its scientific relevance for toxicological studies. In this review,we summarize the advantages of Drosophila models in microplastic toxicity studies, with particular emphasis on recent advances in understanding intestinal toxicity, neuro toxicity,genotox-icity,reproductive toxicity, developmental toxicity, and transgenerational toxicity. We point to critical research gaps that require urgent investigation, including the bioaccumulation dynamics of microplas-tics,metabolic transformation and elimination pathways,multi-pollutant interaction effects, molecular mechanisms of toxicity, and comprehensive health risk assessment frameworks. The review aims to provide data for elucidating the mechanisms of microplastic toxicity and formulating evidence-based prevention strategies.

BACKGROUND:Self-assembling peptide hydrogels exhibit excellent biocompatibility, controllable physicochemical properties, and release capabilities, offering extensive application potential in tissue engineering, drug delivery, and biosensing fields.OBJECTIVE:To summarize the research progress of self-assembling peptide hydrogel in cancer therapy in recent years.METHODS:Using the search terms"self-assembling peptides, hydrogel, sustained release, antitumor, tumor therapy"in Chinese and English,CNKI,PubMed,and Elsevier ScienceDirect databases were searched for relevant literature published from 2000 to 2024.Finally,81 articles were included in the review.RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:Self-assembling peptide hydrogels,as a novel biomaterial, can be used as a sustained-release drug carrier to load a variety of anti-tumor drugs, and immunosuppressants, targeting tumor sites, inducing tumor cell death, reducing drug dosage, and increasing drug accumulation in tumor sites, thereby reducing the probability of toxic side effects and multidrug resistance.Moreover,anti-tumor hydrogels with natural activity can directly kill tumor cells without relying on drugs, and can minimize the toxic side effects of anti-tumor drugs when used alone.

Objective:To investigate relationship between IL-17/IL-23 immunoinflammatory axis and chronic heart failure(CHF)and clinical prognosis. Methods:A total of 112 patients with CHF in Chengde Central Hospital from January 2020 to Septem-ber 2021 were selected as observation group, and another 112 patients admitted to same period for healthy physical examination were selected as control group.Serum IL-17 and IL-23 levels of two groups were compared, relationship between serum IL-17 and IL-23 levels and degree of disease were analyzed;clinical data, serum IL-17 and IL-23 levels of patients with different prognosis were compared, relationship between serum IL-17 and IL-23 levels and clinical prognosis of CHF patients were analyzed.Predictive value of serum IL-17 and IL-23 levels on clinical prognosis of CHF patients was evaluated, and predictive value of each prediction scheme was compared. Results:Serum IL-17 and IL-23 levels were higher in observation group than control group(P<0.05);serum IL-17 and IL-23 levels of CHF patients were positively correlated with NYHA classification(P<0.05).Serum IL-17 and IL-23 levels were higher in patients with poor prognosis than in those with good prognosis(P<0.05).Serum IL-17 and IL-23 were independently associated with clinical prognosis of CHF patients, and the higher the serum IL-17 and IL-23 levels, the greater risk of poor clinical prognosis of CHF patients.AUC of serum IL-17 and IL-23 levels for predicting clinical prognosis of CHF patients were 0.787 and 0.726,respectively,and combined predicted AUC was 0.918(P<0.001);combined predicted AUC of serum IL-17 and IL-23 was significantly higher than single index(P<0.05).Conclusion:IL-17 and IL-23 levels in IL-17/IL-23 immunoinflammatory axis of CHF patients are significantly elevated and involve in disease occurence and development, whose clinical detection can help predict clinical prognosis of CHF.
