Journal of Clinical Otorhinolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery 2025;39(10):944-948
Objective:To investigate the CT image characteristics of anterior ethmoidal artery(AEA) through CT scan and its significance in nasal endoscopic surgery. Methods:A retrospective study of 82 patients(164 sides) with chronic sinusitis was conducted. All patients underwent CT scan and the images were reconstructed. The AEA classification was used and calculate the rate of AEA suspension. The AEA was classified, and the suspension rate of the AEA was calculated. The height of the lateral lamella of the cribriform plate (LLCP) was measured, and Keros classification was performed. The relationship between Keros classification and AEA suspension was analyzed. The supraorbital ethmoidal cell (SOEC) was identified, and its relationship with AEA suspension was analyzed. Results:Type Ⅰ AEA accounted for 42.07%(69/164). Type Ⅱ AEA accounted for 22.56%(37/164). Type Ⅲ AEA accounted for 35.37%(58/164). The suspension rate was 35.37%. The average height of the LLCP was (3.7±1.8) mm. In the Keros classification, type Ⅰaccounted for 53.05%(87/164), Type Ⅱaccounted for 37.80%(62/164). Type Ⅲ accounted for 9.15%(15/164). The results of the Spearman analysis showed that there was a moderate positive correlation between the Keros classification and the suspension of the AEA(r=0.526, P<0.01). Among 164 sides, SOEC was present in 15 sides. The suspension rate of AEA in the group with SOEC was significantly higher than that in the group without SOEC(P<0.01). Conclusion:Sinus CT and multiplanar reconstruction can clarify the image characteristics of AEA and its relationship with surrounding structures. When the level of Keros classification is higher or SOEC is present, the suspension rate of AEA increases significantly. It is of great significance to clarify the characteristics of AEA before surgery in order to avoid injury during surgery.

Journal of Environmental and Occupational Medicine 2023;40(5):559-564
Background Steel workers are exposed to occupational hazardous factors such as dust, noise, and heat, and often work in shifts, making them prone to sleep disorders. Objective To explore potential influencing factors of sleep disorders among workers in a steel enterprise in Gansu Province, and provide a basis for reducing the risk of sleep disorders among them. Methods From January to March 2022, a self-made questionnaire combined with the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) were used to investigate the employees of a steel enterprise in Gansu Province. According to their PSQI scores, they were divided into a normal sleep group and a sleep disorder group. The general demographic variables of the two groups were balanced by 1∶1 propensity score matching (PSM). Multiple logistic regression was used to analyze the contributing factors of sleep disorders. Restricted cubic spline (RCS) model was used to analyze potential dose-response relationship between weekly working hours and sleep disorders. Results The prevalence of sleep disorders in the steel workers was 48.06% (6029/12544). After PSM, 5847 pairs were successfully matched, and the distributions of matched variables were well balanced between the two groups. The results of multiple logistic regression showed that hypertension (OR=1.39, 95%CI: 1.24, 1.56), diabetes mellitus (OR=1.34, 95%CI: 1.07, 1.66), three-shift system (OR=1.26, 95%CI: 1.12, 1.41), dust exposure (OR=1.14, 95%CI: 1.01, 1.29), noise exposure (OR=1.23, 95%CI: 1.09, 1.39), heat exposure (OR=1.16, 95%CI: 1.04, 1.29), and work injury (OR=1.22, 95%CI: 1.02, 1.46) increased the risk of sleep disorders. Compared with workers with < 10 years of service, those with 10-20 years (OR=1.31, 95%CI: 1.19, 1.44), 20-30 years (OR=1.34, 95%CI: 1.19, 1.52), and ≥30 years of service (OR=1.35, 95%CI: 1.19, 1.53) had a higher risk of sleep disorders. Compared with non-exercise workers, the risk of developing sleep disorders was lower in workers with occasional exercise (OR=0.61, 95%CI: 0.56, 0.66) and regular exercise (OR=0.55, 95%CI: 0.49, 0.62). The RCS model showed that the weekly working hours and sleep disorders in the steel workers showed a nonlinear dose-response relationship (P<0.05 for overall trend, P<0.05 for nonlinear test). The relationship between weekly working hours and sleep disorders showed a "U" shaped distribution, with a significant increase in the risk of sleep disorders when the weekly working hours exceeded 49 h. Conclusion The non-occupational influencing factors of sleep disorders of employees in the steel enterprise include hypertension, diabetes, physical exercise, and occupational influencing factors include length of service, weekly working hours, shifts, dust exposure, noise exposure, heat exposure, and work injuries. It is recommended to consider both occupational and non-occupational factors to formulate appropriate sleep disorder prevention and control measures for steel employees to reduce the risk of sleep disorders.

Objective:To investigate the changes of intestinal mucosal barrier function related indexes [diamine oxidase and secretory immunoglobulin A (sIgA)] in peripheral blood of patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and their correlation with peripheral immune function. Methods:A total of 40 patients with RA who admitted to the Rheumatology and Immunology department of the Second Hospital of the Shanxi Medical University were enrolled. We collected their clinical and laboratory data, and selected 20 age and gender matched people as the control group. Enzyme-linked immunosorbnent assay (ELISA) was used to detect the level of DAO and sIgA in the peripheral blood, the lymphocytes and CD4 + T subsets were detected by flow cytometry. Then t-test, rank sum test and correlation analysis were conducted for statistical analysis. Results:① The level of DAO in patients with RA was higher than that of healthy controls [205(164, 251) ng/ml vs 364 (276, 483) ng/ml, Z=-4.48, P<0.001], while the level of sIgA was decreased [3.64 (2.76, 4.83)×10 5 ng/ml vs 6.83 (4.80, 9.44)×10 5, Z=-3.84, P<0.001]. ② The absolute number of B and CD4 + T cells were increased in RA, the difference were statistically significant, but the absolute number of T, natural killer cells (NK) and CD8 + T cells were not significantly different between the two groups. For CD4 + T subsets, the absolute number of T helper cells (Th)1 and Treg cells in RA group were significantly decreased than healthy controls, but there were no statistical significant difference in the number of Th2 and Th17 cells. ③ The level of DAO was positively correlated with absolute number of Th17 cells in patients with RA ( r=0.36 P=0.038), and positively correlated with age and white blood cell count ( r=0.40, P=0.021; r=0.40, P=0.020), but no significant correlation among other indicators were found. ④ The serum sIgA level of RA patients in antimutated citrullinated vimentin antibody (MCV), antiperinuclear factor (APF) and antikeratin antibody (AKA) positive group were higher than those in the negative group [3.99(2.99, 5.58)×10 5 ng/ml vs 2.73(2.29, 3.05)×10 5 ng/ml, Z=-2.55, P=0.011; 5.49 (3.26, 5.70)×10 5 ng/ml vs 3.12 (2.29, 4.04)×10 5 ng/ml, Z=-2.28, P=0.023; 4.07 (3.19, 5.65)×10 5 ng/ml vs 2.88 (2.24, 3.86)×10 5 ng/ml, Z=-2.42, P=0.016], while there was no significant difference in DAO level between groups. ⑤ The DAO level of RA patients with pulmonary interstitial fibrosis was significantly higher than that in the group without pulmonary interstitial fibrosis [421 (216, 528) ng/ml vs 191 (150, 223) ng/ml, Z=-2.81, P=0.005], while there were no significant differences in DAO and sIgA levels among other groups. Conclusion:In RA patients with inte-stinal mucosal barrier impairment, the DAO level is increased, while the sIgA is decreased, and in addition, elevated peripheral blood Th17 may be involved in the process of intestinal mucosal barrier impairment.

To screen the available tomato pollution-safe cultivar varieties and reduce the potential food safety risks in Cd-polluted areas, the differences of Cd accumulation in different tomato (Solanum lycopersicum) varieties in southern China were studied by soil culture and hydroponic experiments. Firstly, the high and low accumulation varieties were selected from 25 tomato varieties under 2.94 mg/kg Cd stress by soil culture test, and then the responses of high and low accumulation tomato varieties to Cd stress were determined by hydroponic experiments. The results of soil culture test show that under 2.94 mg/kg Cd stress, there were significant differences in plant height, total biomass and yield among 25 tomato cultivars, and the Cd contents of fruits of all 25 tomato cultivars exceeded the highest limit value (0.05 mg/kg) of CAC (Codex alimentarius commission). Through cluster analysis, 7, 4 and 14 varieties accumulating relatively high, medium, and low concentrations of Cd in the fruits were screened, among which the highest, the lowest, and the average Cd contents in the fruits were 3.06 mg/kg DW, 1.47 mg/kg DW, and 2.21 mg/kg DW, respectively. The results of hydroponic experiment show that under the same concentration of Cd stress, Qiantangxuri F1, a high Cd accumulating variety, absorbed Cd faster, accumulated more Cd, used shorter oxidative stress response time and had stronger tolerance to Cd than Zhefen 3053, a low Cd accumulating variety. The typical high and low Cd accumulating varieties can provide a reference for agricultural production in heavy metal polluted areas and the development of molecular-assisted breeding methods of PSC. At present, cultivating low Cd accumulating PSC varieties and dynamic monitoring of Cd contents in tomato fruits are feasible methods in medium and light Cd-polluted areas.

Journal of China Pharmaceutical University 2021;52(4):487-495
Finding stable expression sites on the chromosomes of Chinese hamster ovary (CHO) cells is an effective method to solve the problem of unstable expression of CHO cells in long-term culture. Our group used lentiviral transfection to integrate the tracer gene (Zsgreen1) into the chromosome of CHO cells and found multiple potential stable expression sites. This study verified the ability of one of the sites located in the 148052-148157 bp region on chromosome NW_003614241.1 to stably express exogenous proteins. The expression of Zsgreen1 gene was first observed, and CRISPR/Cas9 technology was then used to integrate the enhanced green fluorescent protein (EGFP) gene into this site. Three strains of EGFP gene integrated cells were obtained. After 60 generations of suspension culture, the fluorescence intensity of the cells had no significant changes, which proved that this site can stably express the EGFP gene. The same method was used to construct recombinant CHO cell lines expressing the human serum albumin (HSA) gene, and was verified by Western blot that this site could express and secrete HSA. It shows that the above-mentioned sites can be integrated and can stably express exogenous proteins.
