Objective:To investigate the changes and characteristics of human brucellosis epidemic in Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region (Ningxia), and provide reference for development of brucellosis prevention and control measures in the future. Methods:The data of reported cases of brucellosis in Ningxia in 2022 and 2023 were collected from the "Infectious Disease Reporting Information Management System of China Disease Prevention and Control Information System". Descriptive epidemiological methods were used to compare and analyze the epidemic data. Results:A total of 10 891 cases of human brucellosis were reported in Ningxia in 2022 and 2023, with an average annual incidence rate of 74.94/100 000, and no death cases. The incidence rate of brucellosis decreased from 86.76/100 000 in 2022 to 63.17/100 000 in 2023, with a statistically significant difference (χ 2 = 269.96, P < 0.001). In 2022 and 2023, 22 counties (cities, districts) in Ningxia had reported brucellosis cases, and the incidence rate of brucellosis in each county (city, district) had decreased by 7.88% to 58.43%. There were reports of brucellosis cases in every month of the year. The incidence rates of brucellosis in males were higher than those in females (χ 2 = 831.79, 715.24, P < 0.001). There were statistically significant differences in incidence rates among different age groups (χ 2 = 2 113.28, 1 455.83, P < 0.001), the age distribution were mainly concentrated in the 45 - 59 year old age group [41.62% (2 618/6 290), 41.84% (1 925/4 601)]. The occupational distribution were mainly dominated by farmers and herdsmen [88.71% (5 580/6 290), 89.52% (4 119/4 601)]. Compared with those in 2022, the incidence rates of brucellosis in males and females and all age groups in 2023 were significantly lower (χ 2 = 163.23, 108.56, 14.83, 27.10, 106.81, 110.89, 37.22, P < 0.001). The outbreak of brucellosis had decreased from 6 cases in 2022 to 1 case in 2023. Conclusions:In 2023, the incidence rate of human brucellosis in Ningxia is significantly decreased compared to 2022, the epidemic still affects various regions, with cases occurring in every month of the year. The affected population is mainly male, middle-aged, and farmers and herdsmen.

Objective:To explore the trajectory of changes in electronic health literacy in young and middle-aged patients with coronary heart disease (CHD) combined with diabetes mellitus (DM) after percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI), and to analyze its relationship with unplanned readmission within 30 days. Methods:A convenience sample of 210 young and middle-aged CHD patients with DM who underwent PCI in the Department of Cardiology, Xinxiang Central Hospital, from February 2023 to June 2024 was selected. The e-Health Literacy Scale (eHEALS) was used to assess electronic health literacy at the 3rd day (T 1), 15th day (T 2), and 30th day (T 3) after PCI. Unplanned readmission within 30 days after discharge was recorded. Latent class growth model (LCGM) was used to identify categories and characteristics of electronic health literacy trajectories. Kaplan-Meier method was applied to plot the cumulative incidence of 30-day unplanned readmission, and the Log-Rank test was used to compare differences among different trajectory types. Results:A total of 207 patients completed the entire survey and follow-up, with a valid response rate of 98.57% (207/210). eHEALS scores gradually increased after PCI, with scores of (6.75±1.31), (11.55±3.31), and (15.56±5.75) at T 1, T 2, and T 3, respectively. Two potential categories were identified: persistent low-level type (85 cases, 41.06%) and gradually improving type (122 cases, 58.94%). Twenty-six patients experienced unplanned readmission within 30 days, with an incidence of 12.56%. The proportions of unplanned readmission within 30 days were 20.00% (17/85) in the persistent low-level group and 7.38% (9/122) in the gradually improving group, with a statistically significant difference (χ 2=7.268, P=0.007). Kaplan-Meier cumulative risk function analysis showed that the cumulative incidence of 30-day unplanned readmission in the gradually improving group was lower than that in the persistent low-level group, with a statistically significant difference (Log-Rank=7.683, P=0.006) . Conclusions:Young and middle-aged CHD patients with DM after PCI show trajectory characteristics in electronic health literacy. Although the electronic health literacy of some patients gradually improved after PCI, persistent low-level literacy was still common, and patients in the persistent low-level group had a higher risk of 30-day unplanned readmission, which deserves clinical attention.

Chinese Journal of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation 2025;47(7):614-618
Objective:To investigate the prevalence of scoliosis among middle school students through school-based screening, and to analyze the correlations between axial trunk rotation (ATR) angle and Cobb angle among those with scoliosis considering gender, age, body mass index (BMI) and curve type, so as to provide references for early prevention and treatment. Methods:Random cluster sampling was used to enroll 9501 middle school students from 11 schools in the Hanyang District of Wuhan. They underwent a six-step scoliosis screening with a forward bending test, scoliometer measurements, and confirmatory X-ray examinations. The students exhibiting scoliosis were stratified by gender, age, BMI, and curve type. The correlation between ATR angle and Cobb angle was subsequently analyzed within each subgroup. Results:Scoliosis was observed in 358 of the students (150 boys and 208 girls), a positive screening rate of 3.8%. Moreover, the positive screening rate was significantly higher among the girls (4.8%) than among the boys (2.9%). There was a moderate Spearman correlation ( r=0.69) between the ATR and Cobb angles in 358 of the students with scoliosis, both the boys ( r=0.69) and the girls ( r=0.70). When it came to age, there was a positive correlation between the ATR and Cobb angles for students aged 13 to 16 irrespective of their BMI classification, except that there was no significant correlation between the two angles for those classified as obese. In terms of Peking Union Medical College (PUMC) classification, there was a positive correlation for those in types Ia, Ib, Ic, IIa, IIb, IIc and IId, but there was no significant correlation between the two angles for those in type III. Conclusions:Scoliosis is prevalent among the group of adolescents studied. Society, schools and parents need to prioritize prevention, heightened awareness, timely diagnosis and early treatment, particularly for girls. The ATR angle may serve as a practical surrogate for estimating Cobb angle severity in scoliosis screening for single-curve or double-curve cases. However, ATR measurements may yield false-negative results among those with triple-curve deformities or the obese, underscoring the need for supplementary diagnostic methods among such populations.

Objective:To analyze the epidemiological characteristics of imported malaria in Shaoxing City and provide scientific basis for formulating prevention and control measures against imported malaria. Methods:A retrospective analysis was conducted. Data on imported malaria cases reported in Shaoxing City from 2012 to 2024 were collected from the infectious disease reporting information system of China Center for Disease Control and Prevention, and the parasitic disease control information management system, including general information, epidemiological investigation reports and diagnosis/treatment status, to analyze their epidemiological characteristics. Results:From 2012 to 2024, there were 110 imported malaria cases in Shaoxing City, including 105 males and 5 females, with a sex ratio of 21 ∶ 1. The youngest patient was 21 years old and the oldest was 73 years old, with 72 cases (65.45%) in the 30-50 age group. The 110 malaria cases included 69 cases of falciparum malaria, 22 cases of vivax malaria, 15 cases of ovale malaria, 3 cases of quartan malaria, and 1 case of mixed infection. The infection sources were Africa (84.55%, 93/110) and Asia (15.45%, 17/110). Among all patients, there were 19 foreign nationals and 91 Chinese citizens. The main purposes of travel for Chinese citizens were labor work (67.03%, 61/91) and business (29.67%, 27/91). Areas with more reported cases were Zhuji City (32 cases), Keqiao District (27 cases), Xinchang County (19 cases) and Yuecheng District (19 cases). The peak months of onset were January, July and September, with 12, 12 and 18 cases respectively. The first medical visits were mainly at county-level hospitals, center for disease control and prevention at all levels and municipal hospitals, with diagnosis rates of 86.67% (52/60), 100% (21/21) and 12/15 respectively. Compared with cases without malaria history, cases with malaria history had shorter time from onset to diagnosis (median, 5.00 d vs. 2.00 d, Z =-2.40, P = 0.004). Conclusions:From 2012 to 2024, imported malaria in Shaoxing City was mainly falciparum malaria, with Africa being the main infection source. The peak incidence occurred in summer. Male young adult overseas workers were the high-risk population. The prevention and control of imported malaria in Shaoxing City should focus on preventing relapse after importation and cure.
