Objective:To investigate the life expectancy of antiretroviral treatment (ART) HIV-infected patients and its trends in Taizhou City, Zhejiang Province from 2014 to 2023.Methods:The data were obtained from the China Information System for Disease Control and Prevention , and the study subjects were HIV-infected patients received ART in Taizhou City. An abbreviated life expectancy table was prepared based on Chiang's method to analyze the differences in life expectancy of HIV-infected patients receiving ART in Taizhou City with different characteristics in 2023 and to compare the trends in life expectancy of patients with different CD4 +T lymphocytes (CD4) counts at the time of initiation of ART from 2014 to 2023. Results:A total of 4 825 patients were enrolled in this study, with a cumulative follow-up of 276 648.56 person-years, and a case-fatality rate of 18.07 (95% CI: 16.48-19.65) /1 000 person-years. In 2023, male patients had lower life expectancy than females in all age groups, and those who were married had higher life expectancy than those who were unmarried and those who were divorced or widowed; patients who had been transmitted heterosexually had lower life expectancy than those who had been transmitted through homosexual transmission. Patients with different CD4 counts at the time of initiating ART had different life expectancies in all age groups. The life expectancy of patients with CD4 counts ≥350 cells/μl when initiating the treatment was higher than that of patients with CD4 counts <200 cells/μl in all age groups. The life expectancy of HIV-infected patients on ART at age 20 and 50 increased from 39.0 years and 19.1 years in 2014 to 46.0 years and 24.1 years in 2023, respectively, with an average annual percentage change of 2.43% (95% CI: 0.81%-4.07%) and 3.34% (95% CI: 1.17%-5.56%). The change in life expectancy was similar for patients with CD4 counts ≥350 cells/μl and 200-349 cells/μl at the time of initiating treatment in 2016-2023, and was higher than that for patients with CD4 counts <200 cells/μl. The rate of increase in life expectancy for patients at age 50 was higher than that at age 20 for all CD4 counts. Conclusions:The rising trend of life expectancy among HIV-infected patients on ART in Taizhou City is obvious. But the disparity between patients with different characteristics is obvious, especially among patients with baseline CD4 counts <200 cells/μl, suggesting the importance of expanded testing, early diagnosis and timely initiation of ART to improve the life expectancy of HIV-infected patients.

Additionally, a review of relevant literature was performed to summarize the clinical features of this condition. Results:Case 1 is a male patient aged 2 years and 10 months, while case 2 is a female patient aged 8 months. Both patients presented with seizures and exhibited nevus psiloliparus on the scalp, non-scarring alopecia, nodular skin tags around the eyes, and ocular choristomas. Brain magnetic resonance imaging revealed leptomeningeal angiomatosis in both cases, with case 1 also demonstrating an intracranial lipoma and case 2 showing localized cerebral atrophy and an arachnoid cyst. Whole-exome sequencing of peripheral blood and copy number variation analysis in both cases did not identify any pathogenic variants. Additionally, no relevant pathogenic variants were detected in the scalp lesion tissue of case 2. A review of the literature revealed that, to date, there have been 5 reported domestic cases, 132 reported foreign cases in pediatric populations, totally 139 cases including 2 cases described in this article. Among these patients, 86 are male, 49 are female, and the gender of 4 cases remains unspecified. Clinical manifestations observed included seizures in 79.0% (64/81) of cases and developmental delay in 64.7% (57/88). Cutaneous lesions were characterized by non-scarring alopecia in 100% (97/97) of cases,non-hair-bearing fatty tissue nevi in 98.3% (58/59), nodular skin tags in 96.5% (56/58), and subcutaneous lipomas in 94.8% (73/77). Ocular lesions predominantly involved choristomas, occurring in 91.8% (90/98) of cases. Central nervous system abnormalities were identified as ventricular dilatation or hydrocephalus in 85.0% (68/80) of cases, intracranial lipomas in 82.1% (69/84), localized cerebral atrophy in 80.9% (34/42), intracranial vascular anomalies in 74.1% (23/31), and spinal lipomas in 66.6% (30/45).Conclusions:ECCL is an uncommon neurocutaneous disorder with the potential to impact various organ systems, notably the integumentary, ocular, and central nervous systems. Pediatric patients may exhibit symptoms such as seizures, developmental delays, and additional clinical manifestations, necessitating vigilant monitoring and management.

Objective To explore the distribution pattern of respiratory symptoms and relevant factors in patients with pulmonary nodules. Methods Demographic and clinical information were collected from patients who visited the Thoracic Surgery Outpatient Clinic of Guangdong Provincial People’s Hospital from January 2021 to January 2022. Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS) was used to assess their anxiety and depression level. Results A total of 1 173 patients were enrolled, including 449 males and 724 females, with an average age of 46.94±11.43 years. Among the patients with pulmonary nodules, 37.7% of them had at least one respiratory symptom; 24.4% had cough, 14.0% had expectoration, 1.3% had hemoptysis and 14.9% had chest pain. Old age, male, exposure to second-hand smoking or environmental smoke, hair coloring and history of tuberculosis were major risk factors for respiratory symptoms (P<0.05). Middle age, old age, male, exposure to environmental smoke were major risk factors for cough (P<0.05); old age, smoking, larger maximum nodules diameters, exposure to environmental smoke and history of pneumonia were major risk factors for expectoration (P<0.05); male, multiple nodules, hair coloring, exposure to second-hand smoking and history of tuberculosis were major risk factors for chest pain (P<0.05). Symptomatic patients showed generally higher HADS scores than asymptomatic patients (P<0.001). Conclusion Cough, expectoration and chest pain are the predominant respiratory symptoms for patients with pulmonary nodules. The presentation of respiratory symptoms increases patients' anxiety and depression.

Centenarians are known as the "model population" in the study of healthy aging. Understanding their characteristics of health and longevity and its related influencing factors would facilitate the exploration of the possible path to achieve health and longevity under the background of population aging in China. In recent years, the population based observational studies, including China Hainan Centenarian Cohort Study (CHCCS), have found the main health characteristics of centenarians and their relationship with quality of life. This paper summarizes the relevant research results from CHCCS in recent years, and compare them with the results of similar domestic studies. The main health indicators include blood pressure, blood lipid, blood glucose, hemoglobin, body measurement and renal function. The health outcomes including diet, nutrition, health-related quality of life, activities of daily living, geriatric syndrome. The results are expected to provide epidemiological evidence for the development of healthy aging policies.
