Abstract
Recently, the Ministry of Education issued Guiding Opinions on Comprehensively Promoting the Construction of Healthy Schools hereinafter referred to as the Guiding Opinions, which systematically established the goal system, key tasks, critical measures, and safeguard mechanisms for the construction of healthy schools in the new era. Against the backdrop, comprehensively promoting the construction of healthy schools has become a core project for implementing the concept of "Health First", carrying out joint prevention and control of multiple diseases, and responding to national action plans. Based on a systematic analysis of the internal logic between healthy school construction and the "education powerhouse strategy", the study deeply expounds on its core mission as a "foundational project for talent cultivation" and a "hub for the integration of five educations". Combining the eight key tasks and three critical measures clarified in the Guiding Opinions, it constructs a multi dimensional, systematic, and operable implementation path from the aspects of concept leadership and practice internalization, data monitoring and closed loop management, team support and environmental optimization, literacy promotion and evaluation innovation, innovation drive and characteristic development, digital empowerment and smart governance. The study provides a forward looking and strategic comprehensive solution for improving the collective health literacy of students and building a comprehensive prevention and control system for common campus diseases in the new era.
2.Association between executive function and emotional and behavioral problems among first-grade elementary school students
Chinese Journal of School Health 2026;47(7):922-925
Objective:
To explore the association between executive function and emotional and behavioral problems in first-grade elementary school students, so as to provide a reference for promoting children s mental health.
Methods:
From March to May 2024, 423 first-grade elementary school students from 6 primary schools aged 6-7 were selected by using stratified cluster random sampling in Shanxi, Shanghai, Shandong, Guangxi, Xinjiang, and Jiangxi. Data were collected by using the Executive Function Assessment Scale and the Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire. An independent samples t-test was used to analyze differences in executive function of different genders and differences in emotional and behavioral problems among first-grade school students with varying executive function levels; a linear regression model was employed to analyze the association between children s executive function and emotional and behavioral problems.
Results:
A total of 42 first-grade elementary school students (9.9%) were identified as having executive function deficits. Students in the executive function deficit group scored higher on internalizing behavior (7.50±0.52), externalizing behavior (11.26±0.52), and total difficulties (18.52± 0.93 ) were significantly higher than those of children without deficits (4.37±0.14, 6.69±0.17, 10.64±0.27) ( t =5.79, 8.50, 9.23, all P <0.05). Results of linear regression analysis showed that, after controlling for relevant covariates such as gender, age, family economic status, being an only child, and body mass index, the factor scores, dimensional scores, and total scores of executive function were all positively correlated with scores for externalizing problems, internalizing problems, and total difficulties ( β =0.07-0.32, all P <0.05).
Conclusions
Children s executive function is closely associated with emotional and behavioral problems, and those with poorer executive function exhibit more pronounced emotional and behavioral problems. Improving children s executive function may help promote their mental health.

Chinese Journal of School Health 2026;47(7):926-928
Objective:
To investigate the relationship between night-time noise exposure and depressive symptoms among junior and senior high school students, so as to provide evidence to support strategies for promoting their physical and mental health.
Methods:
From September 2024 to December 2025, 2 900 junior and senior high school students were selected using stratified cluster random sampling in the three cities of Nanning, Lhasa, and Yanji. The Center for Epidemiologic Studies Depression Scale (CES-D) was used to assess depressive symptoms in junior and senior high school students, and a noise exposure survey was conducted. Chi-square test was used to compare the prevalence of depressive symptoms among junior and senior high school students with different types of night-time noise exposure, and Logistic regression models were employed to examine the association between night-time noise exposure and depressive symptoms among junior and senior high school students.
Results:
The prevalence of depressive symptoms among junior and senior high school students without night-time noise exposure was 33.0%, while that among junior and senior high school students with night-time noise exposure was 49.0%; the difference was statistically significant ( χ 2= 45.85 , P <0.01) . After adjusting for gender, age and region, Logistic regression analysis showed that exposure to night-time traffic noise, neighborhood noise, air conditioner noise, and other types of noise showed increased risk of detecting depressive symptoms in junior and senior high school students ( OR =2.22, 1.84, 2.41, 2.17, all P <0.05).
Conclusion
Night-time noise exposure is associated with an increased risk of depressive symptoms among junior and senior high school students.
4.Research progress on factors associated with emotional and behavioral problems in children
Chinese Journal of School Health 2026;47(7):1050-1055
Abstract
Children s emotional and behavioral problems are characterized by a relatively high incidence, concealed manifestations, and a potential correlation with an increased risk of subsequent mental disorders. These problems have a sustained impact on children s social-emotional development, learning adaptation, and peer relationships. The study reviews the main influencing factors and their mechanisms of action regarding children s emotional and behavioral problems from three levels:individual, family, and social. Under a multi-level integrated perspective, it deepens the understanding of these mechanisms and proposes that future efforts should focus on factors such as improving physical fitness, enhancing sleep, and reducing sedentary behavior. Furthermore, it suggests strengthening collaborative interventions among schools, families, and communities to promote the early prevention of childrens emotional and behavioral problems and support their healthy development.

Circadian rhythm is a biological endogenous process regulated by the suprachiasmatic nucleus of the hypothalamus, which transmits light signals to peripheral clocks and synchronizes the body with the external environment through balanced expression of circadian rhythm genes. Working the night shift, sleep disorders, and exposure to artificial light can lead to disturbances in circadian rhythm and genetic imbalances. A substantial body of research has demonstrated that circadian rhythm plays a significant role in the treatment of autoimmune diseases and neurodegenerative disorders, with increasing attention being directed toward their impact on oral health. Disturbances in circadian rhythm primarily affect psycho-neuro-immune mechanisms, oxidative stress responses, and oral microflora through pathways such as the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis (HPA axis), brain and muscle ARNT-like 1 (BMAL1)-brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) signaling, and BMAL1-nuclear factor kappa-B (NF-κB) interactions. These disruptions may influence the progression of oral diseases. Certain pharmacological agents (e.g., melatonin, vitamin D, nobiletin, and propofol) have been shown to regulate mood disorders, immune function, and sleep-wake cycles by upregulating BMAL1 expression, thus alleviating disturbances in circadian rhythm. In addition, non-pharmacological interventions, such as sleep management strategies, psychotherapy approaches, and light therapy, also modulate these processes through HPA axis regulation. Currently, the specific mechanisms by which circadian rhythm regulates BDNF levels, T cell subsets, and inflammatory signals—thereby influencing both pathogenesis and treatment outcomes for oral diseases—remain unclear. Future research should focus on elucidating these molecular mechanisms as well as identifying therapeutic targets related to circadian rhythm within the oral health context. Further, multidisciplinary collaboration encompassing pharmacy, sleep behavior studies, and psychology will be instrumental in advancing prevention strategies and treatments for oral diseases.

Maintaining the stemness of the transplanted stem cell spheroids in an inflammatory microenvironment is challenging but important in regenerative medicine. Direct delivery of stem cells to repair periodontal defects may yield suboptimal effects due to the complexity of the periodontal inflammatory environment. Herein, stem cell spheroid is encapsulated by interfacial assembly of metal-phenolic network (MPN) nanofilm to form a stem cell microsphere capsule. Specifically, periodontal ligament stem cells (PDLSCs) spheroid was coated with FeIII/tannic acid coordination network to obtain spheroid@[FeIII-TA] microcapsules. The formed biodegradable MPN biointerface acted as a cytoprotective barrier and exhibited antioxidative, antibacterial and anti-inflammatory activities, effectively remodeling the inflammatory microenvironment and maintaining the stemness of PDLSCs. The stem cell microencapsulation proposed in this study can be applied to multiple stem cells with various functional metal ion/polyphenol coordination, providing a simple yet efficient delivery strategy for stem cell stemness maintenance in an inflammatory environment toward a better therapeutic outcome.

Objective:To study the clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeats (CRISPR) loci polymorphism of Yersinia pestis and its area distribution in Gansu province. Methods:A total of 203 strains of Yersinia pestis isolated from 1962 to 2014 were selected for the culture and extraction of DNA. Three pairs of CRISPR primers were used to amplify the strain DNA by PCR, and the PCR products were sequenced. The groups and genotypes of strains were determined according to the spacer and spacer arrangement of CRISPR loci in the strain. Cluster analysis was done by using the software BioNumerics 5.10. Results:A total of 16 spacers, including 9 species of YPa loci, 4 species of YPb loci and 3 species of YPc loci, were found in the 203 strains of Yersinia pestis. A new spacer of a1′ was found. The 203 strains were divided into 5 CRISPR genotypes and classified into 5 CRISPR clusters (Cb2, Ca7, Ca7′, CaΔ5′ and Ca35′). Each cluster showed significant area-specific characteristics, Cb2 was mainly distributed in Huining country and Pingchuan district, Ca7 was mainly found in Aksai Kazak autonomous country, Ca7′ was mainly found in Xiahe country, Ca35′ was mainly found in Subei Mongolia autonomous county and Yumen city and CaΔ5′ was mainly distributed in Sunan Yugur autonomous county. Conclusions:The strains from different plague foci in Gansu were distinguished by CRISPR, all kinds of clusters showed the obvious area specific characteristics. It is important to study the evolution of Yersinia pestis in Gansu and trace the molecular biology origin of human plague.
