This study reports a new species of Culicoides(Avaritia)isolated from Xunke County, Heilongjiang Province, China. The new species, Culicoides(Avaritia)dongshanensis Liu et Wang, sp. nov., was identified and illustrated based on female adults. Its diagnostic characteristics are as follows: eyes contiguous over a short distance, with short interfacetal hair, antennal ratio(AR)of 1.20, palpal ratio(PR)of 2.16, wing length of 0.83 mm, mandible with 15 teeth, one pale spot in base cell M1, one pale spot in cell M4, two pale spots in cell A, and two unequal spermathecae. Type specimens were deposited at the Center for Disease Control and Prevention of the Northern Theater Command.

With the rapid development of generative artificial intelligence(GAI)technologies,their widespread application in academic research and writing is continuously expanding the boundaries of sci-entific inquiry.However,this trend has also raised a series of ethical and regulatory challenges,inclu-ding issues related to authorship,content authenticity,citation accuracy,and accountability.In light of the growing involvement of AI in generating academic content,establishing an open,controllable,and trustworthy ethical governance framework has become a key task for safeguarding research integrity and maintaining trust within the academic community.This expert consensus outlines ethical requirements across key stages of AI-assisted academic writing-including topic selection,data management,citation practices,and authorship attribution.It aims to clarify the boundaries and ethical obligations surrounding AI use in academic writing,ensuring that technological tools enhance efficiency without compromising in-tegrity.The goal is to provide guidance and institutional support for building a responsible and sustainable research ecosystem.

AIM:This study aimed to explore the mechanism by which Bufei-Yishen formula(BYF)mitigates mitochondrial damage in rats with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease(COPD)by regulating the AMPK/PGC-1α signal-ing pathway.METHODS:Forty rats were randomly divided into four groups,each containing ten rats each:control group,COPD group,BYF group,and N-acetylcysteine(NAC)group.The COPD model was established through chronic cigarette smoke exposure combined with periodic bacterial inoculations over an eight-week induction phase.During the subsequent eight-week treatment period(i.e.,weeks 9～16),rats in the control and COPD groups received an isovolumet-ric saline solution via oral gavage,at a standardized daily dose of 2 mL per animal.Moreover,rats in the BYF and NAC groups were given Bufei Yishen formula(11.61 g·kg-1·d-1)or N-acetylcysteine(54 mg·kg-1·d-1)by gavage,once per day.At week 16,samples were collected and the general condition of the rats was observed.Body weight was recorded weekly.We also obtained data characterizing rat lung function,lung pathology,ATP content,and mitochondrial ultra-structure,as well as the levels of interleukin-6(IL-6),tumor necrosis factor-alpha(TNF-α),interleukin-1β(IL-1β),se-rum transforming growth factor-beta 1(TGF-β1)and the enzymatic activities of mitochondrial electron transport chain complexes I(NADH dehydrogenase)and III(cytochrome c reductase).Finally,we quantified the mRNA and protein lev-els of AMPK and PGC-1α in lung tissue.RESULTS:Compared to the control group,the COPD group exhibited yellow-ish hair color,reduced gloss,slower weight gain,and a disordered respiratory rhythm.We also observed significant de-creases(P<0.01)in pulmonary function tidal volume(TV),minute ventilation(MV),peak expiratory flow(PEF),expi-ratory flow at 50%of tidal volume(EF50),forced vital capacity(FVC),forced expiratory volume in 0.1 s(FEV0.1),and FEV0.1/FVC.Histopathological analysis showed alveolar cavity enlargement,bullous changes in lung morphology,smooth muscle hypertrophy in the tracheal wall,ciliary destroyed,mucosal shrinking and thickening,and a large number of in-flammatory cells gathered around the tube.Moreover,the mean linear intercept(MLI)and bronchial wall thickness(BWt)had both significantly increased(P<0.01).Electron microscopic analysis of the lungs revealed a reduction in the number of mitochondria in alveolar epithelial cells,a swollen and deformed lung morphology overall.We observed that the mitochondrial cristae were broken,dissolved or vacuolated,accompanied by a significant reduction in the number of lamel-lar bodies and lung volume,along with a disordered internal lipid layer structure.Furthermore,some lung samples were vacuolated or had content leakage.Further quantitative analyses showed statistically significant increases(P<0.01)in the levels of serum pro-inflammatory mediators,including IL-6,TNF-α,IL-1β,and TGF-β1.At the same time we observed substantial reductions in the enzymatic activities of mitochondrial electron transport chain complexes I and III(P<0.01).Moreover,we found that metabolic impairment correlated with significantly attenuated ATP production(P<0.01)in exper-imental subjects.Moreover,the expression levels of AMPK and PGC-1α mRNA and proteins in lung tissue were signifi-cantly decreased(P<0.01).Moreover,compared to the COPD group,the BYF group showed significant improvements in several of the above indicators,albeit to different degrees(P<0.01 or P<0.05).Moreover,BYF was more effective than NAC in improving minute ventilation and up-regulating PGC-1α expression(P<0.05).CONCLUSION:Bufei-Yishen formula may ameliorate mitochondrial damage in rats with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease by regulating the AMPK/PGC-1α signaling pathway.

AIM To evaluate the quality of Rubi Fructus.METHODS UPLC-Q-TOF-MS/MS was adopted in the component identification,after which the HPLC fingerprints were established,cluster analysis,principal component analysis and orthogonal partial least squares discriminant analysis were used for chemical pattern recognition.and the contents of chlorogenic acid,ferulic acid,ellagic acid,isoquercitrin,kaempferol-3-O-rutinoside,astragalin,tiliroside quercetin,kaempferol were determined.RESULTS Total 34 constituents were identified.There were 19 common peaks in the fingerprints for 31 batches of medicinal materials with the similarities of more than 0.8.Wild varieties and cultivated varieties,and medicinal materials from different producing areas could be distinguished;4 principal components demonstrated the accumulative variance contribution rate of 84.142％;8 differential components were screened,2 of which were ellagic acid and astragalin.Ellagic acid and astragalin displayed higher contents in the wild varieties than those in the cultivated varieties(P＜0.05,P＜0.01).CONCLUSION UPLC-Q-TOF-MS/MS,HPLC fingerprints combined with content determination can be used for the quality control of Rubi Fructus.

Objective To explore the debridement effects of 3 types of plasma scalpels for the animal model of explosion injury,and to compare them with the steel scalpel and high-frequency electrosurgical scalpel.Methods Firstly,blast wounds were constructed in the right inguinal regions of 9 Landrace pigs by high-pressure gas impact combined with preset metal shrapnel.Secondly,debridement was carried out in experimental groups with wide-,arrow-or needle-type plasma scalpel and in control groups with steel and high-frequency electrisurgical scalpel,with the operating temperature and debridement time recorded during the procedure and trauma specimens analyzed pathologically after the debridement;comparisons were performed among the five types of scalpels in terms of debridement effect,and among the four ones in terms of maximum operating temperature and depth of tissue thermal damage under electrocutaneous cutting and electrocoagulation modes with the steel scalpel excluded because it did not generate any heat.GraphPad Prism 9.5.1 software was used for statistical analysis.Results There were no significant differences in debridement effect found between the three plasma scalpels and the steel and high-frequency electrosurgical scalpels(P＞0.05).The three types of plasma scalpels had the maximum operating temperature lower significantly than that of the high-frequency electrosurgical scalpel during debridement(P＜0.05).Under electrosection and electrocoagulation modes the three plasma scalpels had the depths of tissue thermal damage statistically less than that by the high-frequency electrosurgical scalpel under electrosection and electrocoagulation modes(P＜0.05).The depths of tissue thermal damage by the four scalpels under electrocoagulation mode were obviously greater than those under electrosection mode(P＜0.05).Conclusion Multi shapes of plasma scalpels behave well in debridement with low operating temperature,little tissue thermal damage and high efficiency for wound protection and the same efficacy with the steel scalpel and high-frequency electrosur-gical scalpel.[Chinese Medical Equipment Journal,2025,46(2):31-38]

Objective:To explore the efficacy and adverse reactions of CAG regimen combined with venetoclax,chidamide,and azacitidine in the treatment of elderly patients with acute myeloid leukemia(AML).Methods:15 elderly AML patients aged ≥ 60 years old who were admitted to the Hematology Department of our hospital from May 2022 to October 2023 were treated with the CAG regimen combined with venetoclax,chidamide and azacitidine,and the efficacy,treatment-related adverse events,overall survival(OS)and event-free survival(EFS)were analyzed.Results:After one course of treatment,11 out of 15 patients achieved complete response(CR),3 patients achieved CR with incomplete hematologic recovery(CRi),and 1 patient died due to prior infection before efficacy evaluation,and the overall response rate(ORR)was 93.3％(14/15).The median follow-up time was 131(19-275)days,with median OS and EFS both remaining unreached.Next-generation sequencing(NGS)analysis showed that among the 15 patients,13 were detected with gene mutations,and there were 7 genes with mutation frequencies of more than 10％,including ASXL1(4 cases),RUNX1(4 cases),BCOR(3 cases),DNMT3A(3 cases),STAG2(2 cases),IDH1/2(2 cases),and TET(2 cases).Among the 13 patients with detectable mutations,12 patients achieved composite response(CR+CRi).The average recovery time of white blood cell count was 14.6 days after chemotherapy,and the average recovery time of platelets was 7.7 days after chemotherapy.The main adverse event was myelosuppression,with 10 patients accompanied by infection.Except for 1 patient who died due to septic shock during chemotherapy,no patients experienced serious complications such as heart,liver,or kidney damage during the treatment process.Conclusion:The CACAG+V regimen,which combines the CAG regimen with venetoclax,chidamide,and azacitidine,can be applied in the treatment of elderly AML patients,demonstrating good safety and induction remission rate.

Objective:To investigate the clinical features and multi-slice spiral computed tomography(CT)imaging features of acute appendicitis in soldiers who have been living in plateau for a long time.Methods:The clinical features and imaging data of 56 cases of acute appendicitis in soldiers who have been living in plateau for a long time confirmed by surgery from February 2022 to August 2024 were retrospectively analyzed.Results:In 56 cases with acute appendicitis in soldiers who have been living in plateau for a long time,the appendectomy position results showed:anterior ileum 4 cases(7.14％),lower ileum 10 cases(17.86％),posterior cecum 16 cases(28.57％),lower cecum 9 cases(16.07％),lateral cecum 2 cases(3.58％),posterior ileum 6 cases(10.71％),high(subhepatic)9 cases(16.07％),and left lower abdominal 0 cases,retroperitoneal appendicitis 0 cases,which was suggested that the anatomical position variation of appendicitis in soldiers with acute appendicitis who have been living at high altitude for a long time was relatively large.The direct manifestations of multi-slice spiral CT showed:appendectomy enlarged diameter＞6 mm in 49 cases(87.50％),appendicular wall thickening＞2 mm in 42 cases(75.00％),ppendiceal dilation lumen and effusion in 29 cases(51.79％),appendix indistinctness in 3 cases(5.36％),lppendix fecalith:27 cases(48.21％),gas in the appendix in 16 cases(28.57％).Indirect findings of multi-slice spiral CT showed that,periappendiceal exudation with shadow in 32 cases(57.14％),appendiceal cellulitis with peripheral abscess in 9 cases(16.07％),peritonitis and ascites in 13 cases(23.21％),ileocecal intestinal wall thickening in 22 cases(39.29％),mesenteric lymph node enlargement in 16 cases(28.57％),reflexive intestinal stasis in ileocecal region was observed in 19 cases(33.93％).Conclusion:In the officers and soldiers with acute appendicitis who lived at high altitude for a long time,multi-slice spiral CT showed the direct manifestations of appendiceal thickening,tube wall thickening,lumen dilatation,fluid accumulation,etc.,and the indirect manifestations were periappendiceal exudation with shadow,appendiceal cellulitis with peripheral abscess,ileocecal intestinal wall thickening,reflexes of small intestine and mesenteric lymph node enlargement.Multi-slice spiral CT has the advantages of clear and intuitive,high safety,high resolution and simple operation in the diagnosis of acute appendicitis.

Objective:To evaluate the impact of Diagnosis-Intervention Packet(DIP)payment reform on medical service costs and efficiency for inpatients in public hospitals,and to compare differences between surgical and medical groups.Methods:A quasi-experimental design was employed,using 605 636 discharged patients from a tertiary hospital in Hebei Province between January 2020 and March 2025 as the sample.The difference-in-differences(DID)model was used to analyze the changes in key indicators between the DIP settlement group(intervention group)and the non-DIP settlement group(control group).Results:Total hospitalization costs,out-of-pocket expenses,and medication costs were significantly reduced in the DIP settlement group(P<0.05),while costs for examinations,nursing,laboratory tests,and treatments increased significantly(P<0.05).Material costs increased by 30.7%in the surgical group(P<0.1)and decreased by 19.8%in the medical group(P<0.01).In terms of efficiency,the average length of stay,time,and cost consumption index all decreased(P<0.01),while the proportion of medical services increased(P<0.01).The case mix index(CMI)showed no significant changes.Conclusion:The DIP reform effectively controlled costs and improved efficiency,but it also resulted in cost shifting and departmental disparities.Therefore,it is necessary to optimize cost control and departmental management policies.

Objective:To assess the relationship between basophil levels and mortality in patients with intra-abdominal infection.Methods:Information on patients with intraperitoneal infection admitted to the intensive care unit were extracted from the MIMIC database.A time-dependent Cox regression model was used to adjust for confounders associated with 28-day mortality.Propensity score matching(PSM)was used to balance the baseline differences be-tween groups with different basophil levels,and a restricted cube chart(RCS)was used to show the relationship between basophil count and 28-day mortality in patients with intra-abdominal infection.Results:A total of 4403 patients with intra-abdominal infection were enrolled in the MIMIC database.Patients with high basophil levels have lower mortality than those with low basophil levels.There was an L-shaped curve between basophil level and 28-day mortality,with a cut-off value of 0.47×109/L.Cox regression analysis showed that basophil levels were an independent protective factor for mortal-ity in patients with intra-abdominal infection after adjusting for potential confounders(HR=0.586,95%CI:0.443-0.769).Protective factors for death at basophil levels remained after PSM adjusted for potential confounders(HR=0.628,95%CI:0.470-0.832).Conclusion:Basophil level is an independent protective factor for mortality in patients with intra-abdominal infection,and basophil levels should be dynamically monitored to better evaluate the prognosis of patients.

Objective To investigate the coagulation effect of a cold atmospheric plasma(CAP)jet device with helium as the working gas and to study its coagulation mechanism preliminarily.Methods A CAP jet device treatment group,a helium airflow treatment group,a hot air treatment group(60℃)and a natural coagulation group were formed according to the treatment modes of the blood samples,with 10 μL of blood samples involved in each group,in order to validate the coagulation effect of the CAP jet device in vitro;the coagulation mechanism of the CAP jet device was explored by its application to the treatment of anticoagulated whole blood,platelet-rich plasma and platelet-depleted plasma;the coagulation effect of the CAP jet device in vivo was verified with a mouse liver punctate hemorrhage model and a rabbit mesenteric hemorrhage model.Results The CAP jet device can significantly accelerate the coagulation of anticoagulated blood droplets,and the coagulation time of anticoagulated blood droplets in the CAP jet device-treated group was shortened from 28 min in the natural coagulation group to(23±1.56)s,with the difference statistically significant(P<0.05),and the CAP jet device treatment group gained advantages significantly over the helium airflow treatment group(P<0.05)and the hot air(60℃)treatment group(P<0.05)in coagulation-promoting effect;the procoagulant effect of the CAP jet device rose with the increase of platelet content in blood droplets,and the coagulation effect of platelet-rich blood droplets was significantly better than that of whole blood(P<0.05),while no coagulation was observed in platelet-poor droplets.The CAP jet device could rapidly stop hemostasis of punctate hemorrhage in mouse liver and mesenteric hemorrhage in rabbits without delayed hemorrhage occurring within 10 min,and no obvious structural abnormality of the liver and thermal damage of the tissue were found microscopically.Conclusion The CAP jet device plays procoagulant and hemostatic effects in vivo and in vitro,and its effect is not dependent on temperature and airflow evaporation effects and is considered to be related to platelet activation,with low thermal damage to living tissue.[Chinese Medical Equipment Journal,2025,46(6):20-27]
