Objective: To explore the current situation and related factors of AIDS discrimination among junior medical students in Jiangxi Province, so as to provide a reference for effective AIDS anti discrimination intervention measures in medical colleges. Methods: Using a convenience sampling approach, 2 484 medical students were selected from five universities in Jiangxi Province from July to August 2023. An anonymous survey was conducted using a general information questionnaire, a AIDS knowledge questionnaire, and the Chinese version of Zelaya s AIDS Stigma Scale. Independent sample t-tests and analysis of variance were carried out to analyze the level of AIDS discrimination among medical students with different characteristics. Multiple stepwise regression analysis was performed to identify the related factors of AIDS discrimination. Results: The total score of AIDS discrimination among medical students was (2.55±0.67). The dimension with the highest score was fear of contracting the disease (2.89±1.01). The results of the multiple stepwise regression analysis showed that the factors related to AIDS discrimination included gender ( β = -0.17 ), grade ( β =-0.08), being an only child or not ( β =-0.04), whether knowing about AIDS knowledge or not ( β =0.22), willingness to use condoms during sexual activity ( β =0.07), willingness to participate in school sexual health knowledge based activities ( β =0.05) and the perceived importance of selfhealth ( β =0.11) ( P <0.05). Conclusions AIDS discrimination is prevalent among junior medical students in Jiangxi Province. Efforts should be undertaken to enhance humanistic education and relevant knowledge dissemination among junior medical students to reduce the level of AIDS discrimination.

AIM: To investigate the influencing factors of corneal edema after phacoemulsification combined with intraocular lens(IOL)implantation in middle-aged and elderly patients with diabetic cataract, reducing postoperative complications of cataract in such patients.METHODS: A total of 198 middle-aged and elderly patients(226 eyes)with diabetic cataract who underwent phacoemulsification combined with IOL implantation in Zhongxian People's Hospital of Chongqing from August 2021 to June 2023 were retrospectively analyzed, and they were divided into corneal edema group(n=53)and non-corneal edema group(n=173)according to their postoperative corneal edema. Baseline data were collected and compared between the two groups, and the operation-related indexes such as preoperative corneal thickness, endothelial cell density, operation time and effective phaco time were recorded and compared between the two groups. The influencing factors of corneal edema were analyzed by multivariate Logistic model, and the risk nomogram was drawn.RESULTS: The age distribution of patients ≥60 years old in the corneal edema group was significantly higher than that in the non-corneal edema group, the duration of diabetes mellitus in the corneal edema group was significantly longer than that in the non-corneal edema group, and the lens nuclear hardness grade was significantly higher than that in the non-corneal edema group(all P<0.05). The changes in endothelial cell density in the corneal edema group were significantly higher than those in the non-corneal edema group(P<0.05); compared with the non-corneal edema group, the patients in the corneal edema group had a longer operation time and a longer effective phaco time(all P<0.05). Age, duration of diabetes mellitus, lens nuclear stiffness grade, operation time and effective phaco time were the risk factors for corneal edema after surgery(all P<0.05). When the total score of the patient risk nomogram is 150 points, the risk of corneal edema after surgery is about 65%.CONCLUSION: The factors influencing the occurrence of corneal edema after phacoemulsification combined with IOL implantation include age, duration of diabetes, lens nuclear stiffness, operation duration and effective phaco time.

Objective To investigate the differences of characteristic of bone marrow plasma cells in patients of different plasma cell dyscrasias according to International Myeloma Working Group(IMWG)criteria.Methods We analyzed the serological and bone marrow flow cytometry results of patients with plasma cell dyscrasias diagnosed and treated in Department of Hematology,Zhongshan Hospital(Xiamen Branch),Fudan University from Jun 12,2019 to Sep 5,2023 retrospectively.Results A total of 102 patients,63 males and 39 females,aged 22 to 85 years,were included,including 46 patients with monoclonal gammaglobulinemia of unknown significance,39 patients with multiple myeloma,5 patients with smoldering multiple myeloma and 12 patients with light-chain amyloidosis.All patients had M proteinemia,including 58 patients with IgG type and 44 patients with non-IgG type.Plasma cells were detected in the bone marrow of all patients.Clonal plasma cells were detected in the bone marrow of 79 patients.Normal plasma cells were detected in the bone marrow of 63 patients.Both clonal and normal plasma cells were detected in the bone marrow of 40 patients.Clonal plasma cells from bone marrow of 52 patients expressed CD56 and 12 patients expressed CD117.There were no significant differences in gender,age among different disease groups.There were statistical differences in M protein type,the concentration of M protein,serum involved/uninvolved free light chain ratio,the proportion of plasma cells in bone marrow nucleated cells,the proportion of clonal plasma cells in bone marrow nucleated cells,the proportion of clonal plasma cells in all bone marrow plasma cells,and the proportion of normal plasma cells in all bone marrow plasma cells among different disease groups(P<0.05).There was statistical difference in the expression of CD56 in clonal plasma cells among different disease groups(P=0.009),but no statistical difference in the expression of CD117.Conclusion The proportion of clonal plasma cells to all nucleated cells,the proportion of clonal plasma cells to all plasma cells,and the proportion of CD56 expression in abnormal plasma cells in the bone marrow of patients with light amyloidosis were similar to those of monoclonal gammopathy of undetermined significance,but significantly different from those of patients with multiple myeloma.

Objective To investigate the expression of let-7c-5p in esophageal squamous carcinoma(ESCC),and also to analyse the effect of let-7c-5p on the proliferation and migration of ESCC cells KYSE150.Methods Forty-two cases of esophageal squamous carcinoma(ESCC)were collected from our hospital,and the paracancerous tissues were used as the control group.The expression of let-7c-5p in ESCC tissues and their adjacent paracancerous tissues was determined by qRT-PCR(real-time fluorescence quantitative polymerase chain reaction);KYSE150 cells were transfected with liposomal Lipofectamine 2000,and the expression of let-7c-5p in transfected KYSE150 cells was determined by qRT-PCR;and the proliferation of the transfected cells was measured by CCK-8 technique;the migration activity of the cells was measured by wound healing assay and Transwell migration assay.Results The expression of let-7c-5p mRNA in ESCC tissues was significantly lower than that in normal tissues next to their cancer(P=0.000);after transfection of KYSE150 cells,in terms of expression,let-7c-5p mimics were significantly higher than that in the NC group(P＜005);the proliferative function of KYSE150 in the transfected group showed a drastic decrease,and its migratory activity was substantially suppressed.Conclusion let-7c-5p is lowly expressed in esophageal squamous carcinoma,and up-regulation of its expression can significantly inhibit the proliferation and migration of esophageal squamous carcinoma KYSE150 cells,providing a new potential target for the diagnosis and treatment of esophageal squamous carcinoma patients.

Methods: This retrospective study was conducted between March 2020 and January 2023, enrolling 52 patients with symptomatic focal uterine adenomyosis who had undergone MWA. All patients were examined with CEUS before and after MWA. The non-perfused volume (NPV) was compared between CEUS and dynamic contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (DCEMRI) following ablation. Therapeutic efficacy and safety were evaluated at 3-, 6-, and 12-month follow-ups. Additionally, this study explored the correlations between pre-treatment CEUS features and a volume reduction ratio indicating sufficient ablation, defined as 50% or more at the 3-month follow-up. Results: No significant differences in NPV were noted between CEUS and DCE-MRI immediately after MWA and during follow-up (all P>0.05). At the 3-month follow-up, the median VRRs for the uterus and adenomyosis were 33.2% and 63.9%, respectively. Sufficient ablation was achieved in 69.2% (36/52) of adenomyosis cases, while partial ablation was observed in the remaining 30.8% (16/52). The identification of non-enhancing areas on pre-treatment CEUS was associated with sufficient ablation (P=0.016). At the 12-month follow-up, significant decreases were observed in both the uterine and adenomyosis volumes (all P<0.001). Dysmenorrhea and menorrhagia were significantly alleviated at 12 months, and no major complications were encountered. Conclusion CEUS can be used to evaluate the ablation zone of focal adenomyosis that has been treated with MWA, similarly to DCE-MRI. The identification of non-enhancing areas on pretreatment CEUS indicates satisfactory treatment outcomes.

Relevant research in recent years has demonstrated that the atrial fibrillation occurrence rate is significantly higher in patients with cirrhosis. The most common indication for long-term anticoagulant therapy is chronic atrial fibrillation. The use of anticoagulant therapy greatly reduces the incidence rate of ischemic stroke. Patients with cirrhosis combined with atrial fibrillation have an elevated risk of bleeding and embolism during anticoagulant therapy due to cirrhotic coagulopathy. At the same time, the liver of such patients will go through varying levels of metabolism and elimination while consuming currently approved anticoagulant drugs, thereby increasing the complexity of anticoagulant therapy. This article summarizes the clinical studies on the risks and benefits of anticoagulant therapy in order to provide a reference for patients with cirrhosis combined with atrial fibrillation.
