Objective To explore the intermediary role of psychological capital in boredom tendency and mobile phone addiction so as to provide a theoretical support for prevention and intervention in smartphone addiction in nursing interns. Methods Using convenience sampling method,917 nursing interns from a Grade ⅢA hospital in Zhengzhou of Henan Province were selected as the survey objects.Psychological capital questionnaire(PCQ)(Chinese version),boredom proneness questionnaire(BPQ)and mobile phone addiction tendency scale(MPATS)were used for the survey. Results A total of 900 nursing interns completed the survey. The incidence of mobile phone addiction among the interns was 36.56%(329/900).Boredom tendency was significantly and positively correlated with the mobile phone addiction(r=0.496,P<0.01),psychological capital was significantly and negatively correlated with the boredom tendency(r=-0.463,P<0.01),and mobile phone addiction was significantly and negatively correlated with psychological capital(r=-0.307,P<0.01).Psychological capital had a partial mediating effect on boredom tendency and mobile phone addiction, accounting for 9.29%of the total effect. Conclusion Nursing schools and hospitals should improve the psychological capital of nursing interns through cognitive training and psychological courses so as to reduce the boredom tendency and the adverse effects of mobile phone addiction.
