Circular RNAs (circRNAs) are endogenous non-coding RNAs with covalently closed structures, which have important functions in plants. However, their biogenesis, degradation, and function upon treatment with gibberellins (GAs) and auxins (1-naphthaleneacetic acid, NAA) remain unknown. Here, we systematically identified and characterized the expression patterns, evolutionary conservation, genomic features, and internal structures of circRNAs using RNase R-treated libraries from moso bamboo (Phyllostachys edulis) seedlings. Moreover, we investigated the biogenesis of circRNAs dependent on both cis- and trans-regulation. We explored the function of circRNAs, including their roles in regulating microRNA (miRNA)-related genes and modulating the alternative splicing of their linear counterparts. Importantly, we developed a customized degradome sequencing approach to detect miRNA-mediated cleavage of circRNAs. Finally, we presented a comprehensive view of the participation of circRNAs in the regulation of hormone metabolism upon treatment of bamboo seedlings with GA and NAA. Collectively, our study provides insights into the biogenesis, function, and miRNA-mediated degradation of circRNAs in moso bamboo.

Chinese Journal of Orthopaedic Trauma 2022;24(9):766-772
Objective:To study the clinical significance of plasma D-dimer for extended anticoagulation in the elderly patients with hip fracture after discharge. Methods:The data were retrospectively analyzed of the 355 elderly patients with hip fracture who had been admitted to Emergence Center of Trauma and Department of Orthopedic Surgery, The Third Hospital of Hebei Medical University from January 2016 to November 2020. There were 107 males and 248 females with a mean age of 79.0 years (from 65 to 102 years). There were 179 femoral neck fractures, 159 intertrochanteric fractures, and 17 subtrochanteric fractures. Plasma D-dimer concentrations were detected at admission, before surgery, and 35 days after surgery. Color Doppler ultrasonography of deep veins of lower extremities was performed at admission, before surgery, before discharge, and 35 days after surgery. The patients with deep vein thrombosis (DVT) at the time of discharge should were reexamined 15 days after discharge. Strategies for anticoagulation prevention and treatment were formulated according to the patients' plasma D-dimer, color Doppler ultrasonography results, symptoms and signs. Plasma D-dimer concentrations were compared between patients with thrombosis and without thrombosis at different time points. Results:The plasma D-dimer concentrations for the 355 patients at admission, before surgery and 35 days after surgery were 2.73 (1.72, 5.13) mg/L, 1.31 (0.72, 2.58) mg/L, and 0.49 (0.25, 0.80) mg/L, respectively. The level of D-dimer at 35 days after surgery was significantly lower than that at admission and before surgery ( P<0.05). There were, respectively, 105, 126,191 and 148 patients with DVT at admission, before surgery, before discharge and 35 days after surgery, and the DVT was distal in most cases. The D-dimer concentrations for patients with thrombosis and without thrombosis at 35 days after surgery was 0.64 (0.32, 1.00) mg/L and 0.37 (0.22, 0.68) mg/L respectively, showing a significant difference ( P<0.05). The area under the receiver operating characteristic curve of plasma D-dimer for the diagnosis of DVT at 35 days after surgery was 0.665. Conclusions:Extended anticoagulation and continuous monitoring of plasma D-dimer are very important for elderly patients with hip fracture after discharge. For patients with DVT at discharge, negative plasma D-dimer is a sign for termination of anticoagulation; for patients without DVT at discharge, it is reasonable to extend anticoagulation 35 days after surgery.

Objective:
To explore the improvement rate of liver fibrosis in patients with chronic hepatitis B virus infection who received entecavir alone or in combination with anluohuaxianwan for 78 weeks.
Methods:
Patients with chronic HBV infection were randomly treated with entecavir alone or in combination with anluohuaxian for 78 weeks. Ishak fibrosis score was used for blind interpretation of liver biopsy specimens. The improvement in liver fibrosis condition before and after the treatment was compared. Student's t test and non-parametric test (Mann-Whitney U-Test and Kruskal-Wallis test) were used to analyze the measurement data. The categorical variables were analyzed by Chi-square test method and Spearman’s rank correlation coefficient was used to test bivariate associations.
Results:
Liver fibrosis improvement rate after 78 weeks of treatment was 36.53% (80/219) and the progression rate was 23.29% (51/219). The improvement of liver fibrosis was associated to the degree of baseline fibrosis and treatment methods (

Recently, salvia miltiorrhiza has made a great progress in research of central nervous system (CNS) injury and neurodegeneration. Salvia miltiorrhiza and its active ingredients can exert multiple effects involving reduction of cell loss, attenuation of oxidative stress, improvement of micro-circulation and promotion of neuroregeneration, and show a protective effect on CNS diseases. Regulation of oxidative stress and removing accumulated metabolite may be the important mechanisms by which salvia miltiorrhiza exerts neuroprotective effects. This study will systematically discuss the pharmacological effects and possible mechanisms of salvia miltiorrhiza based on the core pathological changes in CSN diseases, and evaluate its drug safety through combing the related toxicology researches to provide a reference for clinical transformation of Chinese medicine in threatment of CNS diseases.

Objective To explore the effects of information-motivation-behavioral (IMB) skills model based WeChat education on the treatment compliance, the self-efficacy and the quality of life of diabetic nephropathy patients. Methods A total of 92 patients with diabetic nephropathy treated in Danyang People's Hospital from January 2015 to June 2016 were selected as the research object by convenient sampling method and randomly divided into observation group and control group according to the random number table, with 46 cases in each. The control group received conventional WeChat health education, and the observation group implemented WeChat health education based on IMB model. The treatment compliance, the self-efficacy and the quality of life were compared between the two groups 6 months after the nursing intervention. Results There was no statistically significant difference between the two groups of all dimensions and the total scores of treatment compliance before intervention (P>0.05). All the dimensions of treatment compliance of the observation group were higher than those of the control group after intervention, and the differences were statistically significant (t=3.365, 3.258, 3.989, 2.655, 3.513, 4.674, 3.747, 4.187,3.578;P<0.01). The change degree of the 10 dimensions of self-efficacy and total scores were all greater than those of control group, the differences were statistically significant (t=4.854, 5.632, 4.854, 4.241,3.896, 3.785, 3.789, 3.325, 3.314, 3.817,4.123;P<0.01). The improvement of all the dimensions of patients' life quality and its total score were all higher than the control group after intervention, with significant statistical difference (t=5.965, 4.763, 4.746, 4.547, 3.869;P<0.01).Conclusions Application of IMB model based WeChat health education on diabetic nephropathy patients can significantly improve the patient's treatment compliance, self-efficacy and quality of life.
