Objective:To understand the usage situation of e-cigarettes among residents aged 18-65 in Beijing, explore the relationship between e-cigarette use and cigarette smoking as well as smoking cessation behaviors, and provide scientific support for the developing and improving policies and measures related to e-cigarettes.Methods:Using 19 684 residents data from the Beijing Non-communication Chronic Disease and Risk Factors Surveillance in 2022, complex sampling weighted methods were used to estimate proportions, and complex sampling logistic regression analysis was applied to explore the relationship between e-cigarette use, cigarette smoking, and smoking cessation.Results:Among all study participants, the proportion of those who had ever used e-cigarettes was 3.36%, with the current e-cigarette use at 1.26%. The proportion of current e-cigarette users (1.87%) and the former e-cigarette users (3.47%) were higher ( χ2=64.70, P<0.001) among males compared to females (0.60% and 0.64% respectively). The top three reasons for using e-cigarettes were wanting to quit smoking, perceiving e-cigarettes as less harmful, and enjoying the flavors of e-cigarettes. 83.54% of e-cigarette users started with cigarettes. The results of the complex sampling multivariable logistic regression analysis showed that current smoking ( OR=61.35, 95% CI: 36.98-101.76) and former smoking ( OR=31.20, 95% CI: 15.52-62.71) were positively associated with e-cigarette, while current e-cigarette use ( OR=0.13, 95% CI: 0.04-0.39) was negatively associated with quitting cigarette smoking. Conclusions:The proportion of e-cigarette use in Beijing was relatively low. E-cigarette use was associated with cigarette use and was not conducive to smoking cessation. Therefore, stronger regulatory measures and health education campaigns regarding the risks of e-cigarettes should be implemented.

BACKGROUND: The global rise in diabetes prevalence is a pressing concern. Despite initiatives like "The Healthy Beijing Action 2020-2030" advocating for increased awareness, treatment, and control, the specific situation in Beijing remains unexplored. This study aimed to analyze the trends in diabetes prevalence, awareness, treatment, and control among Beijing adults. METHODS: Through a stratified multistage probability cluster sampling method, a series of representative cross-sectional surveys were conducted in Beijing from 2005 to 2022, targeting adults aged 18-79 years. A face-to-face questionnaire, along with body measurements and laboratory tests, were administered to 111,943 participants. Data from all survey were age- and/or gender-standardized based on the 2020 Beijing census population. Annual percentage rate change (APC) or average annual percentage rate change (AAPC) was calculated to determine prevalence trends over time. Complex sampling logistic regression models were employed to explore the relationship between various characteristics and diabetes. RESULTS: From 2005 to 2022, the total prevalence of diabetes among Beijing adults aged 18-79 years increased from 9.6% (95% CI: 8.8-10.4%) to 13.9% (95% CI: 13.1-14.7%), with an APC/AAPC of 2.1% (95% CI: 1.1-3.2%, P <0.05). Significant increases were observed among adults aged 18-39 years and rural residents. Undiagnosed diabetes rose from 3.5% (95% CI: 3.2-4.0%) to 7.2% (95% CI: 6.6-7.9%) with an APC/AAPC of 4.1% (95% CI: 0.5-7.3%, P <0.05). However, diabetes awareness and treatment rates showed annual declines of 1.4% (95% CI: -3.0% to -0.2%, P <0.05) and 1.3% (95% CI: -2.6% to -0.2%, P <0.05), respectively. The diabetes control rate decreased from 21.5% to 19.1%, although not statistically significant (APC/AAPC = -1.5%, 95% CI: -5.6% to 1.9%). Overweight and obesity were identified as risk factors for diabetes, with ORs of 1.65 (95% CI: 1.38-1.98) and 2.48 (95% CI: 2.07-2.99), respectively. CONCLUSIONS The prevalence of diabetes in Beijing has significantly increased between 2005 and 2022, particularly among young adults and rural residents. Meanwhile, there has been a concerning decrease in diabetes awareness and treatment rates, while control rates have remained stagnant. Regular blood glucose testing, especially among adults aged 18-59 years, should be warranted. Furthermore, being male, elderly, overweight, or obese was associated with higher diabetes risk, suggesting the needs for targeted management strategies.

Objective To explore root cause of poor prognosis after successful endovascular treatment(EVT)in patients with acute ischemic stroke with large vascular occlusion(AIS-LVO)of anterior circulation.Methods Patients with AIS-LOV of anterior circulation who received successful EVT(postoperative modified thrombolysis incerebral infarction[mTICI]grade≥2b)were retrospectively and continuously collected in the Department of Neurology of Bozhou People's Hospital from January 2022 to March 2024.The baseline and clinical data of the patients were collected,including gender,age,vascular risk factors(hypertension,diabetes,coronary heart disease,hyperlipidemia,valvular heart disease,atrial fibrillation,smoking,and alcohol consumption),prior stroke or transient ischemic attack,baseline blood pressure,baseline National Institutes of Health Stroke scale(NIHSS)score,laboratory test indicators(pre-operative C-reactive protein and D-dimer,post-operative fasting blood glucose,lipid levels,homocysteine,etc).Meanwhile,the data of perioperative indicators was collected,including the time from onset to admission,the time from admission to puncture,the time from puncture to revascularization,the time from onset to puncture,the time from onset to revascularization,remedial measures(balloon dilation,stent placement,arterial thrombolysis)during the surgery or not,using tirofiban or not,postoperative complications(stroke-related pneumonia,stress ulcers,deep vein thrombosis,acute heart failure or renal failure,etc)or not.The patient's medical history and imaging data were collected,and these indicators were defined and collected,including Alberta stroke program early CT score(ASPECTS),location of occlusion(C1 segment of the internal carotid artery,C2 segment to C7 segment of the internal carotid artery,M1 segment of the middle cerebral artery),and the trial of org 10172 in acute stroke treatment(TOAST)classification and a postoperative transformation of cerebral infarction after ischemic stroke and symptomatic intracranial hemorrhage or not.According to the modified Rankin scale(mRS)score at 90 d after surgery,all patients were divided into poor prognosis group(mRS score≥ 3)and good prognosis group(mRS score≤2).The baseline and clinical data of two groups were compared using univariate analysis.Variables with P＜0.1 in the univariate analysis were selected as independent variables,and the poor prognosis was used as the dependent variable.Further,multivariate Logistic regression analysis was performed to identify the influencing factors of poor prognosis after EVT.Results Finally,a total of 192 patients with AIS-LVO of anterior circulation who received successful revascularization were included in this study.There were 101 male patients and 91 female patients.The poor prognosis group had 102 cases and the good prognosis group had 90 cases.Univariate analysis showed that the poor prognosis group had statistically significant differences with the good prognosis group in terms of age(Z=-3.088,P=0.002)and age distribution(x2=13.457,P=0.001),fasting blood glucose(Z=-3.347,P=0.001),baseline NIHSS score(Z=-4.469,P＜0.01),location of occlusion(x2=10.488,P=0.005),transformation of hemorrhage after ischemic stroke(x2=16.943,P＜0.01),and symptomatic intracranial hemorrhage(X2=25.449,P＜0.01),and the baseline ASPECTS of the poor prognosis group was significantly lower than that of the good prognosis group(Z=-4.547,P＜0.01).There were no significant differences in other baseline and clinical data(all P＞0.05).Further multivariate Logistic regression analysis showed that age＞80 years(OR,3.224,95％CI 1.033-10.058,P=0.044),baseline NIHSS score(OR,1.102,95％CI 1.013-1.199,P=0.023),baseline ASPECTS(OR,0.375,95％CI 0.212-0.665,P=0.001),and symptomatic intracranial hemorrhage(OR,7.127,95％CI 1.296-39.203,P=0.024)were independent influencing factors of poor prognosis.Conclusion The independent factors of 90 d poor prognosis after successful EVT in patients with AIS-LVO of anterior circulation are age＞80 years,baseline NIHSS score,baseline ASPECTS,and symptomatic intracranial hemorrhage.

Abstract In recent decades, there is a decreasing trend in physical activity, which might be associated with decline in physical and mental health among children and adolescents in China. The outbreak and spread of the COVID-19 further aggravated this trend. Under the background of normalized epidemic prevention and control, in order to deeply understand the relationship between physical activity and physical and mental health of children and adolescents, this study sorted out relevant domestic and foreign literatures, and analyzed the effects of physical activity on children and adolescents health and fitness. The positive effects of physical activity, cognition, and mental health were found to be significantly different in the type, intensity, and time of physical activity in the related health effects.

The TEA domain (TEAD) family proteins (TEAD1‒4) are essential transcription factors that control cell differentiation and organ size in the Hippo pathway. Although the sequences and structures of TEAD family proteins are highly conserved, each TEAD isoform has unique physiological and pathological functions. Therefore, the development and discovery of subtype selective inhibitors for TEAD protein will provide important chemical probes for the TEAD-related function studies in development and diseases. Objective: To investigate the factors related to cardiac dysfunctions during the percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) in patients with non-ST segment elevation acute coronary syndrome (NSTEACS). Methods: Patients diagnosed as NSTEACS receiving PCI from September 2007 to June 2018 were collected in the data base of medical record management system in Qingdao Eighth People′s Hospital. Patients with cardiac dysfunctions (≥ Killip Ⅱ grade) within 1 week after PCI were included into the case group, while patients with normal cardiac function (Killip Ⅰ grade) within 1 week after PCI were included into the control group. Firstly, baseline data of age, gender, histories of hypertension, histories of type 2 diabetes, histories of high cholesterol, histories of smoking, histories of drinking, histories of myocardial infarction, NSTEACS risk stratifications, the application of platelet glycoprotein (GP)Ⅱb/Ⅲa receptor antagonists, coronary artery SYNTAX scores, the dose of contrast agent during PCI, the peak cardiac troponin (cTnT) and N-terminal pro-brain natriuretic peptide (NT-proBNP) within 24 h after admission was compared between the two groups; then, factors with statistical differences (P < 0.05) were analyzed by the multivariate logistic regression; at last, variables screening was performed through the backward method and likelihood ratio test. Results: A total of 3927 patients with NSTEACS receiving PCI were enrolled. After patients with incomplete information were eliminated, 313 patients were admitted to the case group and 2 906 patients were admitted to the controlled group. After the analysis of multivariate logistic regression and variables screening, it showed that >80 years old (OR = 1.758, 95% CI 1.129 to 2.367, P = 0.014), increased dose of contrast agent (OR = 1.083, 95% CI 1.007 to 1.274, P = 0.020), the peak cTnT>0.2 μg/L (OR = 2.102, 95% CI 1.703 to 3.104, P = 0.031) and NT-proBNP>450 ng/L (OR = 2.243, 95% CI 1.863 to 3.257, P = 0.015) after admission were the risk factors of cardiac dysfunctions. Conclusions Advanced age (>80 years old), increased dose of contrast agent during PCI, the peak cTnT>0.2 μg/L and NT-proBNP>450 ng/L within 24 h after admission could raise the risk of cardiac dysfunctions in patients with NSTEACS after PCI.

Objective: To explore the clinical effect of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) syndrome differentiation in the treatment of pneumoconiosis. Methods: We selected 160 pneumoconiosis patients who were hospitalized in our hospital from July 2015 to July 2016. 102 patients were divided into experimental groups, and the other 58 patients were assigned to the control group. These patients were randomly assigned. The control group was given routine treatment, while the experimental group received conventional treatment combined with TCM syndrome differentiation. We rated patients' quality of life using the SF-36 Quality of Life Scale. C-reactive protein levels in both groups before and after treatment were detected by ELISA. Furthermore, we detected the expression levels of IL-6 mRNA and TGF-β mRNA in serum before and after treatment by RT-PCR.The analysis was performed with SPSS19.0 software. The normal distribution measurement data was expressed by Mean±SD, and the t-test was used for statistical analysis. Non-normal distribution measurement data were expressed as median(M) and interquartile range (P₂₅, P₇₅), and non-parametric test was used for statistical analysis. Results: Compared with the control group, the readmission rate in the experimental group decreased within 3 months; The SF-36 quality of life score results of the two groups showed a statistically significant difference in BP, VT and RE (P<0.05);The levelofCRPdecreasedsignificantlyafter treatment in bothgroups,and thedifferencewasstatistically significant (P<0.05).Comparedwith thecontrolgroup, the levelsofIL-6mRNAandTGF-β1mRNA alsodecreased (P<0.05). Conclusion TCM syndromedifferentiation and treatmentofpneumoconiosis can effectively improve the patient's condition and life quality. We predict that it may inhibit the progression of pulmonary fibrosis in pneumoconiosis.

Patients with SF or NR were included into the case group and patients without SF or NR were included into the controlled group. Factors of age, gender, history of hypertension, history of type 2 diabetes, history of high cholesterol, history of smoking, history of drinking, NSTEACS risk stratification, the application of platelet glycoprotein (GP) ⅡB/ⅢA receptor antagonist, coronary artery SYNTAX score, culprit blood vessels, times of balloon dilatation, the burden of thrombus and the preoperative TIMI grade of blood flow were analyzed by multivariate Logistic regression. Then, variables screening was performed through backward method and likelihood ratio test. Results A total of 3 927 patients with NSTEACS receiving PCI were enrolled. After patients with incomplete information were eliminated, 143 patients were admitted to the case group and 3 588 patients were admitted to the control group. After the analysis of multivariate Logistic regression and variables screening, it was showed that times of balloon dilatation ≥ 3 ( OR＝1.725, 95% CI 1.211－2.358, P＝0.014) and high burden of thrombus ( OR＝1.821, 95% CI 1.322-2.511, P＜0.01) were the risk factors of SF or NR, while the application of GPⅡB/ⅢA receptor antagonist ( OR＝0.623, 95% CI 0.382-0.855, P＝0.012) was the protective factor of SF or NR. Conclusions Multiple balloon dilatation and high burden of thrombus increased the risk of SF or NR, while the application of GPⅡB/ⅢA receptor antagonists could inhibit the occurrence of SF or NR.

Objective To analyze the clinical and imaging characteristics of pediatric neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorders(NMOSD)in children. Methods The clinical data,imaging manifestations and follow - up data of 16 NMOSD patients at Department of Pediatric Neurology,Shandong Provincial Hospital Affiliated to Shandong Univer-sity between July 2013 and September 2017 were respectively analyzed. Results In 16 patients,initial presentations included optica neuritis(ON)in 5 cases,longitudinally extensive transverse myelitis(LETM)in 6 cases,and among them there were 2 cases with acute disseminated encephalomyelitis and 3 cases with both ON and LETM. Eleven cases received aquaporin - 4(AQP4)antibody examination and 4 cases were found seropositive. One case out of 7 detected cases was found AQP4 antibody positive in cerebrospinal fluid. Eleven cases received optica magnetic resonance imaging (MRI),and 8 cases were found abnormal signals in optic nerve and optica chiasma. The spinal cord MRI showed 13 ca-ses with LETM manifestations,and abnormal signals were found in vertebral segments(5 - 13),and among them 1 case had cervical cord,3 cases were thoracic cord and 9 cases were both of the above. Lesions in the cervical cord in 2 cases were extended upward to the medulla. Fifteen cases received brain MRI and all of them had brain lesions,which were mainly involved in the central and subcortical white matter,thalamus,corpus callosum,brainstem,the junction of spinal cord and medulla,cerebellum,and so on. All patients received treatment for acute attacks with high - dose Methylpred-nisolone and/ or gamma globulin and got obvious relief. Two cases with recurrent ON received treatment of Rituximab and their vision became improved. Fifteen patients were followed up,and 2 cases had limb disorders and 4 cases had visual impairment,other patients had no clinical symptoms. Conclusions Pediatric NMOSD has a diverse clinical pre-sentation at the onset disease. Those who are initial diagnosed acute myelitis,ON and acute disseminated encephalomye-litis should be considered the possibility of NMOSD. Antibody to AQP4 testing can assist the diagnosis. The typical ima-ging characters of NMOSD children are abnormal signals in the high expression area of AQP4. Intracranial lesions are more common in children. The acute treatment includes the high - dose Methylprednisolone and gamma globulin. Rituximab can be used for the recurrent patients.
