The Death Cafe has promoted globally, breaking the silence and taboo surrounding death, allowing the public to freely discuss topics related to death and end-of-life, raising public awareness of death, and promoting public thinking and understanding of death. This paper reviews the overview of Death Cafe and its application in palliative care, in order to provide reference for the research and practice of palliative care in China.

Objective:To evaluate the influence of different teaching modes in the creativity of nursing students in China.Methods:A systematic search of PubMed, Web of Science, Cochrane Library, China National Knowledge Infrastructure, Wanfang Database, Chinese Biomedical Literature Database and VIP Database were carried out. Randomized control trials (RCTs) examining the influence of different teaching modes in the creativity of nursing students were included from inception to March 5, 2023. Two reviewers independently screened literature, extracted data and assessed the risk of bias of included studies according to the Cochrane Handbook for Systematic Reviews of Interventions and combined with the Grading of Recommendation, Assessment, Development, and Evaluation (GRADE), then network Meta-analysis with random effects was performed by using WinBugs 1.4.3 and Stata 17.0 software.Results:A total of 63 studies involving 22 teaching modes were included. The network Meta-analysis showed that Case-based Learning Mode, Evidence-based Nursing Teaching Mode, 3D Printing Model Teaching Mode, Hands-on Inquiry Based Learning, Quality Control Circle Teaching Mode, Six Thinking Hats Teaching Mode, Theory, Drill, Practice, Combine (TDPC, T:theory; D:drill; P:practice; C:combine) Teaching Mode were more effective than Lecture-based Learning Mode ( SMD values were 4.61-22.51, all P<0.05). Sensitivity analysis showed the effectiveness of TDPC Teaching Mode was the greatest in nursing theoretical teaching[surface under the cumulative ranking (SUCRA)=98.08%], the Quality Control Circle Teching Mode was the second most effective (SUCRA=83.13%). The effectiveness of Six Thinking Hats Teaching Mode was the greatest in nursing practical teaching (SUCRA=95.73%), followed by the 3D Printing Model Teching Mode (SUCRA=86.97%). Conclusions:TDPC Teaching Mode, Six Thinking Hats Teaching Mode, 3D Printing Model, Quality Control Circle Teaching Mode were superior to other teaching modes in improving creativity of nursing students.

Objective To investigate the expression of miR-31a-5p in myocardial infarction (MI) mice and its potential mechanism. Methods A dataset was downloaded from the gene expression database, and miR-31a-5p and its predicted target gene hypoxia-inducible factor-1α (HIF-1α) were screened using bioinformatics methods. The MI model was established by ligating the left anterior descending branch of the coronary artery in C57BL/6J male mice which were randomly divided into sham and MI groups (n=6 in each group). The in vitro hypoxic cell model was induced by treatment of H9c2 cells with cobalt chloride (CoCl2) and divided into a control group, a model group, a NC group, a miR-31a-5p mimic group and a miR-31a-5p inhibitor group. The degree of myocardial tissue fibrosis was stained by Masson and analyzed. The expression levels of miR-31a-5p and HIF-1α mRNA in mouse myocardial tissues and H9c2 cells were detected by qRT-PCR. Western blotting was used to detect the expression levels of B-cell lymphoma 2 (Bcl-2), cleaved-caspase 3 apoptotic protein in mouse myocardial tissues and HIF-1α and apoptotic protein in H9c2 cells, respectively. The dual luciferase reporter gene assay was used to verify the targeting relationship between miR-31a-5p and HIF-1α. Results Masson staining showed significantly increased fibrosis in MI mice (P<0.000 1); miR-31a-5p, cleaved-caspase 3 were significantly elevated and Bcl-2 was decreased in MI mice and CoCl2 treated H9c2 (P<0.05). The results of dual luciferase reporter assay showed that the relative luciferase activity of miR-31a-5p mimic cotransfected with HIF-1α-3'-UTR WT plasmid was reduced (P<0.000 1); miR-31a-5p mimic decreased HIF-1α expression and increased apoptotic protein levels in CoCl2 induced H9c2 cells (both P<0.05), while miR-31a-5p exerted the opposite effect. Conclusion miR-31a-5p can aggravate apoptosis in myocardial ischemia by targeting HIF-1α.

Conventional chemotherapy based on cytotoxic drugs is facing tough challenges recently following the advances of monoclonal antibodies and molecularly targeted drugs. It is critical to inspire new potential to remodel the value of this classical therapeutic strategy. Here, we fabricate bisphosphonate coordination lipid nanogranules (BC-LNPs) and load paclitaxel (PTX) to boost the chemo- and immuno-therapeutic synergism of cytotoxic drugs. Alendronate in BC-LNPs@PTX, a bisphosphonate to block mevalonate metabolism, works as both the structure and drug constituent in nanogranules, where alendronate coordinated with calcium ions to form the particle core. The synergy of alendronate enhances the efficacy of paclitaxel, suppresses tumor metastasis, and alters the cytotoxic mechanism. Differing from the paclitaxel-induced apoptosis, the involvement of alendronate inhibits the mevalonate metabolism, changes the mitochondrial morphology, disturbs the redox homeostasis, and causes the accumulation of mitochondrial ROS and lethal lipid peroxides (LPO). These factors finally trigger the ferroptosis of tumor cells, an immunogenic cell death mode, which remodels the suppressive tumor immune microenvironment and synergizes with immunotherapy. Therefore, by switching paclitaxel-induced apoptosis to mevalonate metabolism-triggered ferroptosis, BC-LNPs@PTX provides new insight into the development of cytotoxic drugs and highlights the potential of metabolism regulation in cancer therapy.

Objective:To systematically review the experience of nurses′ in providing home-based hospice care, so as to provide a basis for improving the quality of home-based hospice care and the nursing service system.Methods:Qualitative researches on nurses′ experience of providing home-based hospice care were retrieved from the Cochrane Library, PubMed,Web of Science, EBSCO, Medline, China National Knowledge Internet, China Biomedical Literature Database, Wanfang Database, VIP Database from inception to April 1, 2022. Adopting Joanna Briggs Institute Critical Appraisal Tool (2016) to evaluate the quality of included studies, the Meta-synthesis was used to explain and integrate the research results.Results:A total of 9 articles were included. This study extracted 23 clear results, 8 new categories, and 3 integrated results, including the significance of nurses′ acceptance of home-based hospice care; positive and negative emotions coexist when nurses provide home-based hospice care; challenges in implementing home-based hospice care.Conclusions:The development of home-based hospice care service is helpful to provide continuous care for the terminally ill patients and improve their quality of life, but at the same time, the ability of home-based hospice care of nurses should be further improved and the related policy guarantee should be perfected to promote the steady development of home-based hospice care in China.

The global incidence rate of cancer continues to rise,and shows an obvious trend of youth.Implementing digital health interventions can improve the accessibility and quality of palliative care for adolescent cancer patients.At present,there is a gradual increase in related research,but foreign research is the main focus,and domestic research is relatively small,which has not yet attracted the attention of medical staff.Starting from the needs of palliative care for adolescent cancer patients,this article reviews the forms of digital health interventions and their applications in health education,symptom assessment,psychological support and grief counseling,and the development of advance care planning.It analyzes existing problems and proposes nursing strategies,aiming to provide references for clinical nursing practice.

Hereditary gingival fibromatosis (HGF) is a rare inherited condition with fibromatoid hyperplasia of the gingival tissue that exhibits great genetic heterogeneity. Five distinct loci related to non-syndromic HGF have been identified; however, only two disease-causing genes, SOS1 and REST, inducing HGF have been identified at two loci, GINGF1 and GINGF5, respectively. Here, based on a family pedigree with 26 members, including nine patients with HGF, we identified double heterozygous pathogenic mutations in the ZNF513 (c.C748T, p.R250W) and KIF3C (c.G1229A, p.R410H) genes within the GINGF3 locus related to HGF. Functional studies demonstrated that the ZNF513 p.R250W and KIF3C p.R410H variants significantly increased the expression of ZNF513 and KIF3C in vitro and in vivo. ZNF513, a transcription factor, binds to KIF3C exon 1 and participates in the positive regulation of KIF3C expression in gingival fibroblasts. Furthermore, a knock-in mouse model confirmed that heterozygous or homozygous mutations within Zfp513 (p.R250W) or Kif3c (p.R412H) alone do not led to clear phenotypes with gingival fibromatosis, whereas the double mutations led to gingival hyperplasia phenotypes. In addition, we found that ZNF513 binds to the SOS1 promoter and plays an important positive role in regulating the expression of SOS1. Moreover, the KIF3C p.R410H mutation could activate the PI3K and KCNQ1 potassium channels. ZNF513 combined with KIF3C regulates gingival fibroblast proliferation, migration, and fibrosis response via the PI3K/AKT/mTOR and Ras/Raf/MEK/ERK pathways. In summary, these results demonstrate ZNF513 + KIF3C as an important genetic combination in HGF manifestation and suggest that ZNF513 mutation may be a major risk factor for HGF.

Circadian rhythm is involved in the development and diseases of many tissues. However, as an essential environmental regulating factor, its effect on amelogenesis has not been fully elucidated. The present study aims to investigate the correlation between circadian rhythm and ameloblast differentiation and to explore the mechanism by which circadian genes regulate ameloblast differentiation. Circadian disruption models were constructed in mice for in vivo experiments. An ameloblast-lineage cell (ALC) line was used for in vitro studies. As essential molecules of the circadian system, Bmal1 and Per2 exhibited circadian expression in ALCs. Circadian disruption mice showed reduced amelogenin (AMELX) expression and enamel matrix secretion and downregulated expression of BMAL1, PER2, PPARγ, phosphorylated AKT1 and β-catenin, cytokeratin-14 and F-actin in ameloblasts. According to previous findings and our study, BMAL1 positively regulated PER2. Therefore, the present study focused on PER2-mediated ameloblast differentiation and enamel formation. Per2 knockdown decreased the expression of AMELX, PPARγ, phosphorylated AKT1 and β-catenin, promoted nuclear β-catenin accumulation, inhibited mineralization and altered the subcellular localization of E-cadherin in ALCs. Overexpression of PPARγ partially reversed the above results in Per2-knockdown ALCs. Furthermore, in in vivo experiments, the length of incisor eruption was significantly decreased in the circadian disturbance group compared to that in the control group, which was rescued by using a PPARγ agonist in circadian disturbance mice. In conclusion, through regulation of the PPARγ/AKT1/β-catenin signalling axis, PER2 played roles in amelogenin expression, cell junctions and arrangement, enamel matrix secretion and mineralization during ameloblast differentiation, which exert effects on enamel formation.

Objective To investigate the effect of comprehensive geriatric assessment on health management outcomes and quality of life in elderly patients with coronary heart disease.Methods A total of 100 elderly patients with coronary heart disease admitted into our hospital from April 2017 to April 2018 were enrolled in this study and randomly divided into a control group(n=50)receiving routine nursing intervention and an observation group (n =50)undergoing individualized health management after comprehensive geriatric assessment.Length of hospital stay,incidence of adverse events and quality of life were compared between the groups.Results The length of hospital stay was shorter in the observation group than in the control group[(10.6 ± 1.4) d vs.(15.5 ± 1.5) d,t =16.7,P＜0.05].Patients in the observation group had higher satisfaction than those in the control group[(55.6±1.4)vs.(45.5±1.5),t =34.2,P＜0.05],The incidence of cardiac adverse events was lower in the observation group than in the control group(20.0％ vs.52.0％％,x2 =5.0,P＜0.05).The scores for quality of life were higher in the observation group than in the control group(P＜0.05).Conclusions Comprehensive geriatric assessment can effectively shorten the length of hospital stay,reducethe incidence of cardiac adverse events,and improve the satisfaction and quality of life in elderly coronary heart disease patients,and should be recommended in clinical practice.
