The differences in chemical quality characteristics between Xinjiang Rehmannia glutinosa and R. glutinosa were analyzed to provide a theoretical basis for the introduction and quality control of R. glutinosa. In this study, the high performance liquid chromatography(HPLC) fingerprints of 6 batches of Xinjiang R. glutinosa and 10 batches of R. glutinosa samples were established. The content of iridoid glycosides, phenylethanoid glycosides, monosaccharides, oligosaccharides, and polysaccharides in Xinjiang R. glutinosa and R. glutinosa was determined by high performance liquid chromatography-diode array detection(HPLC-DAD), high performance liquid chromatography-evaporative light scattering detection(HPLC-ELSD), and ultraviolet-visible spectroscopy(UV-Vis). The determination results were analyzed with by chemical pattern recognition and entropy weight TOPSIS method. The results showed that there were 19 common peaks in the HPLC fingerprints of the 16 batches of R. glutinosa, and catalpol, aucubin, rehmannioside D, rehmannioside A, hydroxytyrosol, leonuride, salidroside, cistanoside A, and verbascoside were identified. Hierarchical cluster analysis(HCA) and principal component analysis(PCA) showed that Qinyang R. glutinosa, Mengzhou R. glutinosa, and Xinjiang R. glutinosa were grouped into three different categories, and eight common components causing the chemical quality difference between Xinjiang R. glutinosa and R. glutinosa in Mengzhou and Qinyang of Henan province were screened out by orthogonal partial least squares discriminant analysis(OPLS-DA). The results of content determination showed that there were glucose, sucrose, raffinose, stachyose, polysaccharides, and nine glycosides in Xinjiang R. glutinosa and R. glutinosa samples, and the content of catalpol, rehmannioside A, leonuride, cistanoside A, verbascoside, sucrose, and glucose was significantly different between Xinjiang R. glutinosa and R. glutinosa. The analysis with entropy weight TOPSIS method showed that the comprehensive quality of R. glutinosa in Mengzhou and Qinyang of Henan province was better than that of Xinjiang R. glutinosa. In conclusion, the types of main chemical components of R. glutinosa and Xinjiang R. glutinosa were the same, but their content was different. The chemical quality of R. glutinosa was better than Xinjiang R. glutinosa, and other components in R. glutinosa from two producing areas and their effects need further study.

Journal of Experimental Hematology 2025;33(3):753-759
OBJECTIVE:
To investigate the clinical characteristics and prognosis of peripheral T-cell lymphoma, not otherwise specified (PTCL-NOS).
METHODS:
Clinical data of 10 patients with PTCL-NOS in Gansu Provincial Hospital from May 2016 to June 2023 were collected. The treatment outcomes were evaluated, and the factors affecting prognosis were analyzed.
RESULTS:
The median age of onset for the 10 patients was 60.7 (47-75) years, with 7 males and 3 females. Nine cases received chemotherapy, while one case died suddenly after diagnosis, and the median course of chemotherapy was 6.9 (1-13) courses. Assessing the efficacy, 3 patients achieved complete remission (CR) while 7 patients showed progression. Age, sex, lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) level, Ki-67 and the presence of hemophagocytic lymphohistocytosis (HLH) were not statistically correlated with CR rate ( P >0.05). Patients with IPI score 3-5, and Ann Arbor stage III-IV had statistically lower CR rates (both P <0.05). Age, B symptoms, LDH level ,hemoglobin, Ki-67 index and PLR value were not statistically correlated with overall survival (OS) time ( P >0.05). Male, platelet <150×109/L, IPI score 3-5, Ann Arbor stage III-IV, presence of HLH, NLR≥4.05, and LMR <2.81 were statistically correlated with shorter OS (all P <0.05). Among the 10 patients, 3 cases have survived and are still in CR status, while 7 cases have died, with a median survival time of 7.5 (1-85) months.
CONCLUSIONS
Patients with IPI score 3-5 and Ann Arbor stage III-IV have low CR rate and poor prognosis. The OS of patients who are male, with platelet <150×109/L, IPI score 3-5, Ann Arbor stage III-IV, complication of HLH, NLR≥4.05, and LMR <2.81 is short, and prognosis is poor.

Biomedical and Environmental Sciences 2025;38(10):1179-1193
OBJECTIVE:
This study aimed to explore the association between body mass index (BMI) and mortality based on the 10-year population-based multicenter prospective study.
METHODS:
A general population-based multicenter prospective study was conducted at four sites in rural China between 2013 and 2023. Multivariate Cox proportional hazards models and restricted cubic spline analyses were used to assess the association between BMI and mortality. Stratified analyses were performed based on the individual characteristics of the participants.
RESULTS:
Overall, 19,107 participants with a sum of 163,095 person-years were included and 1,910 participants died. The underweight (< 18.5 kg/m 2) presented an increase in all-cause mortality (adjusted hazards ratio [ aHR] = 2.00, 95% confidence interval [ CI]: 1.66-2.41), while overweight (≥ 24.0 to < 28.0 kg/m 2) and obesity (≥ 28.0 kg/m 2) presented a decrease with an aHR of 0.61 (95% CI: 0.52-0.73) and 0.51 (95% CI: 0.37-0.70), respectively. Overweight ( aHR = 0.76, 95% CI: 0.67-0.86) and mild obesity ( aHR = 0.72, 95% CI: 0.59-0.87) had a positive impact on mortality in people older than 60 years. All-cause mortality decreased rapidly until reaching a BMI of 25.7 kg/m 2 ( aHR = 0.95, 95% CI: 0.92-0.98) and increased slightly above that value, indicating a U-shaped association. The beneficial impact of being overweight on mortality was robust in most subgroups and sensitivity analyses.
CONCLUSION
This study provides additional evidence that overweight and mild obesity may be inversely related to the risk of death in individuals older than 60 years. Therefore, it is essential to consider age differences when formulating health and weight management strategies.

Journal of Geriatric Cardiology 2024;21(11):1071-1084
OBJECTIVES:
Autologous blood outgrowth endothelial cells (BOECs) have been proposed to induce therapeutic angiogenesis for treating cardiovascular diseases (CVDs). The aim of the present study was to investigate the proliferative potential and angiogenic characteristics of BOECs among middle-aged and older adults, the population particularly susceptible to CVDs.
METHODS:
BOECs were isolated from 48 peripheral blood samples of subjects aged 56 ± 4 years. The cells were then distinguished based on their proliferative abilities, and their phenotype, tube formation capacity, and migratory activity were compared using immunofluorescence staining, flow cytometry, tube formation assay, and wound healing assay, respectively. Correlations between demographic, clinical, and dietary parameters with the number of BOECs were also assessed.
RESULTS:
A total of 132 BOEC colonies with different proliferative potentials were obtained, including colonies lost proliferative ability before passage 3 (named LPA), stopped proliferating during passage 3-8 (HPA (3-8)), and proliferated after passage 8 (HPA (> 8)). LPA cells appeared later and displayed abnormal morphology, while HPA (3-8) cells exhibited alterations in von Willebrand factor morphology and lower KDR expression. HPA (> 8) cells obtained higher branching intervals and individual cell migration velocity compared with those of HPA (3-8) cells. Correlation analysis showed that the number of both LPA and HPA colonies were positively associated with several CVD risk factors. Additionally, the number of LPA colonies was positively associated with servings of meats and alternatives, fruits, fruits and vegetables, as well as the protein intake.
CONCLUSIONS
Our findings provide evidence that the middle-aged and older populations possess BOECs with different proliferative and angiogenic potentials, exhibiting distinctions in cell morphology, appearance dates, VWF morphology, and KDR expression. Strikingly, a higher number of BOECs is likely associated with an increased risk of CVDs, while the number of BOECs with low proliferative ability may be regulated by diet.

Objective To compare the clinical safety and efficacy of CT-guided hook-wire localization of≤10mm pulmonary ground-glass nodule(GGN)via different path ways before video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery(VATS).Methods The clinical data of a total of 128 patients with 10 mm pulmonary GGN,who received CT-guided hook wire localization before VATS at The Third Hospital of Mianyang of China between July 2018 and March 2023,were retrospectively analyzed.According to the puncturing localization path way mode, the patients were divided into vertical puncturing group(n=88)and non-vertical puncturing group(n=40).The number of puncturing times, the time spent for puncturing localization, the success rate of puncture, the operation time of VATS,and puncture-related complications of the two groups were recorded. Results No statistically significant differences in the gender, age, smoking history,GGN location, puncture position, nodule size, density characteristics of GGN,emphysema, and nodules-pleura distance existed between the two groups(all P>0.05).Compared with non-vertical puncturing group,in vertical puncturing group the number of puncturing times was smaller, the time spent for localization was shorter, the incidence of pneumothorax was lower, and the operation time of VATS was shorter, the differences in all the above indexes between the two groups were statistically significant(all P<0.05);and the subgroup analysis of patients whose GGN was overlapped with rib shadow obtained the same results.Binary logistic regression analysis revealed that non-vertical puncturing and the number of puncturing times were the independent risk factors for the occurrence of pneumothorax. Conclusion CT-guided hook-wire localization of≤10mm pulmonary GGN before VATS is clinically safe and effective.Under the condition when the lesion can be localized within the range of 2.0cm and the shadow overlapping of GGN with the rib and blood vessel can be effectively avoided, vertical puncturing path way mode should be preferred, which can effectively reduce the incidence of pneumothorax and shorten the operation time of VATS.
