Syringa pinnatifolia, belonging to the family Oleaceae, is a species endemic to China. It is predominantly distributed in the Helan Mountains region of Inner Mongolia and Ningxia of China. The peeled roots, stems, and thick branches have been used as a distinctive Mongolian medicinal material known as "Shan-chen-xiang", which has effects such as suppressing "khii", clearing heat, and relieving pain and is employed for the treatment of cardiovascular and pulmonary diseases and joint pain. Over the past five years, significant increase was achieved in research on chemical constituents and pharmacological effects. There were a total of 130 new constituents reported, covering sesquiterpenoids, lignans, and alkaloids. Its effects of anti-myocardial ischemia, anti-cerebral ischemia/reperfusion, sedation, and analgesia were revealed, and the mechanisms of agarwood formation were also investigated. To better understand its medical value and potential of clinical application, this review updates the research progress in recent five years focusing on the chemical constituents and pharmacological effects of S. pinnatifolia, providing reference for subsequent research on active ingredient and support for its innovative application in modern medicine system.

Synthetic biology is a crucial tool for the development of the bio-industry and bio-economy, representing a significant aspect of new quality productive forces. As a core course for graduate students in bioengineering, Synthetic Biology plays a vital role in ensuring the supply of essential talents for the development of the bio-industry in the new era. To better serve regional economic development and provide high-level talents for China's progress in the bio-industry, we analyzed typical issues encountered in the past teaching activities, set up a multi-disciplinary teaching team, optimized the course contents, adjusted the teaching mode, and mobilized students' learning interest. With the application of scientific research project as the starting point, we guided students to think and discuss deeply through the simulation of application writing and project defense, which improved students' critical thinking and innovative thinking. With industrialization as a focus, we explored a new training model combining production, education, and research through the joint practice base of the university and enterprises introduced typical cases of biomanufacturing to encourage students to engage in scientific research. The teaching reform significantly enhances the comprehensive abilities and national sentiments of graduate students. This paper hopes to serve as a reference for colleagues engaged in teaching in this field.

Objective To explore planning effect of AI-HIP assisted surgical planning system in primary unilateral total hip arthroplasty(THA)and its influence on clinical outcomes.Methods A retrospective analysis was conducted on clinical data of 36 patients who underwent their first unilateral THA from March 2022 to November 2022 and continuously used AI-HIP system(AI-HIP group),including 16 males and 20 females,aged from 43 to 81 years old with an average of(62.2±10.9)years old.According to the matching principle,36 patients who were planned by the traditional template method at the same period were selected as the control group,including 16 males and 20 females,aged from 40 to 80 years old with an average of(60.9±12.1)years old.The accuracy between two groups of prostheses were compared,as well as the combined eccentricity difference between preoperative planning and postoperative practice,lower limb length difference,osteotomy height from the upper edge of the lesser trochanter and top shoulder distance to evaluate planning effect.Harris score and visual analogue scale(VAS)were used to evaluate clinical efficacy.Results Both groups were followed up for 12 to 18 months with an average of(14.5±2.1)months.The complete accuracy and approximate accuracy of acetabular cup and femoral stalk prosthesis in AI-HIP group were 72.2％,100％,58.3％,88.9％,respectively,which were better than 44.4％,83.3％,33.3％,66.7％in control group(P＜0.05).There was no statistical significance in planning of femoral head prosthesis size(P＞0.05).The actual combined eccentricity difference and combined eccentricity difference(practical-planning)in Al-HIP group were 1.0(0.2,2.4)mm and 1.1(-2.1,3.2)mm,respectively;which were better than 3.0(1.4,4.9)mm and 3.5(-1.6,6.5)mm in control group(P＜0.05).There was no significant difference between two groups in actual osteotomy height of the upper margin of the lesser trochanter(P＞0.05).In AI-HIP group,the actual difference of lower extremity length after surgery,the difference of lower extremity length(practical-planning),osteotomy height from the upper margin of lesser trochanter(practical-planning),actual topshoulder distance after surgery,and topshoulder distance(practical-planning)were 1.5(0.2,2.8),1.1(-0.3,2.2),2.1(-2.3,4.1),(15.3±4.1),2.2(-4.8,0.3)mm,respectively;which were better than control group of 2.6(1.3,4.1),2.5(0.3,3.8),5.8(-2.4,7.7),(13.0±4.3),-5.7(-9.4,-2.2)mm(P＜0.05).At final follow-up,there were no significant differences in Harris scores of pain,function,deformity,total scores and VAS between two groups(P＞0.05).The range of motion score was 4.8±0.6 in AI-HIP group,which was higher than that in control group(4.4±0.8)(P＜0.05).Conclusion Compared with traditional template planning,AI-HIP assisted surgical planning system has good accuracy in predicting the prosthetic size of the acetabular cup and femoral stalk,restor-ing joint eccentricity,planning lower limb length,osteotomy height and top shoulder distance on the first unilateral THA,and the clinical follow-up effect is satisfactory.

Aim To investigate the effects of 2-dode-cyl-6-methoxycyclohexa-2 , 5-diene-l, 4-dione ( DM-DD) on resisting hepatic fibrosis induced by carbon tetrachloride ( CC14 ) in rats and the underlying mechanisms , with a specific focus on the TGF-pi/Smads signaling pathway. Methods The hepatic fibrosis model was replicated using 50% CC14. Various parameters, including levels of aspartate transferase ( AST) , ala-nine transferase ( ALT ) , albumin/globulin ( A/G ) , total protein (TP) , total bilirubin (T-BIL) , hyaluron-ic acid ( HA ) , laminin ( LN ) , collagen type Ж ( Col Ж) , and collagen type IV(ColIV) in the blood, were measured. Liver tissue lesions and fiber formation were observed using HE and Masson staining. The expression levels of a smooth muscle actin (a-SMA) , collagen type I ( Col I ) , transformed growth factor (TGF-pi), Smad2, and Smad7 proteins were assessed using immunohistochemistry. a-SMA, Coll, TGF-pi, and Smad7 mRNA levels in liver tissue were measured by RT-PCR. Additionally, the expression levels of TGF-pi, Smad4, and Smad7 proteins in liver tissue were determined by Western blot. Results In comparison to the normal control group, the model group exhibited significantly elevated levels of AST, ALT, TP, T-BIL, HA, LN, Col Ш and Col IV in serum. But A/G level notably decreased. Successful modeling was confirmed by the presence of extensive fiber formations observed through HE and Massonstaining in liver tissue. The DMDD administration group demonstrated a notable decrease levels of AST, ALT, TP, T-BIL, HA, LN, Col III, and CollV, but A/G was significantly elevated when compared to the model group. Furthermore, a-SMA, Coll, TGF-f31, Smad2 and Smad4 mRNA and protein levels in the DMDD administration group were significantly reduced, while Smad7 significantly declined. HE and Masson staining results reflected a marked reduction in fibrous hyper-plasia. Conclusion DMDD exhibits a protective effect against CCl4-induced hepatic fibrosis, and its mechanism appears to be associated with the TGF-fJl/ Smads signaling pathway.

Objective:To observe the clinical effect of electroacupuncture(EA)combined with exercise therapy on balance function in patients with knee osteoarthritis(KOA). Methods:Seventy patients with KOA were randomly divided into a treatment group and a control group,with 35 cases in each group.The treatment group was treated with EA combined with exercise therapy.EA was applied to Dubi(ST35),Neixiyan(EX-LE4),Xuehai(SP10),Liangqiu(ST34),Yanglingquan(GB34),and Zusanli(ST 36).Exercise therapy(muscle strength training and knee mobility training)was applied after EA.The control group only received the same exercise therapy as the treatment group.The two groups were treated with the same course of treatment,3 times a week for 4 consecutive weeks,12 times in total,and followed up for 1 month.The Pro-Kin254P balance test system was used to measure the balance function parameters at 4 time points,including before treatment,after 1 session of treatment,after 12 sessions of treatment,and at 1-month follow-up after treatment.The visual analog scale(VAS)and the Western Ontario and McMaster Universities osteoarthritis index(WOMAC)scores were recorded. Results:The markedly effective rate and total effective rate in the treatment group were higher than those in the control group(P<0.01).The Romberg area,Romberg length,and VAS scores of the two groups decreased significantly after 1 session of treatment,12 sessions of treatment,and 1 month after treatment,and the differences between different time points in the same group were statistically significant(P<0.01).There were significant differences between the two groups at the same time point(P<0.05).The total WOMAC scores of the two groups after 1 session of treatment,12 sessions of treatment,and 1 month after treatment decreased significantly,and there were significant differences between different time points in the same group(P<0.05),but there was no significant difference between the two groups at the same time point(P>0.05). Conclusion:EA combined with exercise therapy or exercise therapy alone can enhance the balance function,relieve joint pain,and improve joint function in patients with KOA.EA combined with exercise therapy is superior to exercise therapy alone in improving balance function and pain,but the two treatment protocols have similar effects in improving joint function.

Objective To investigate the feasibility of developing a grading diagnostic model for schistosomiasis-induced liver fibrosis based on B-mode ultrasonographic images and clinical laboratory indicators. Methods Ultrasound images and clinical laboratory testing data were captured from schistosomiasis patients admitted to the Second People’s Hospital of Duchang County, Jiangxi Province from 2018 to 2022. Patients with grade I schistosomiasis-induced liver fibrosis were enrolled in Group 1, and patients with grade II and III schistosomiasis-induced liver fibrosis were enrolled in Group 2. The machine learning binary classification tasks were created based on patients’radiomics and clinical laboratory data from 2018 to 2021 as the training set, and patients’radiomics and clinical laboratory data in 2022 as the validation set. The features of ultrasonographic images were labeled with the ITK-SNAP software, and the features of ultrasonographic images were extracted using the Python 3.7 package and PyRadiomics toolkit. The difference in the features of ultrasonographic images was compared between groups with t test or Mann-Whitney U test, and the key imaging features were selected with the least absolute shrinkage and selection operator (LASSO) regression algorithm. Four machine learning models were created using the Scikit-learn repository, including the support vector machine (SVM), random forest (RF), linear regression (LR) and extreme gradient boosting (XGBoost). The optimal machine learning model was screened with the receiver operating characteristic curve (ROC), and features with the greatest contributions to the differentiation features of ultrasound images in machine learning models with the SHapley Additive exPlanations (SHAP) method. Results The ultrasonographic imaging data and clinical laboratory testing data from 491 schistosomiasis patients from 2019 to 2022 were included in the study, and a total of 851 radiomics features and 54 clinical laboratory indicators were captured. Following statistical tests (t = −5.98 to 4.80, U = 6 550 to 20 994, all P values < 0.05) and screening of key features with LASSO regression, 44 features or indicators were included for the subsequent modeling. The areas under ROC curve (AUCs) were 0.763 and 0.611 for the training and validation sets of the SVM model based on clinical laboratory indicators, 0.951 and 0.892 for the training and validation sets of the SVM model based on radiomics, and 0.960 and 0.913 for the training and validation sets of the multimodal SVM model. The 10 greatest contributing features or indicators in machine learning models included 2 clinical laboratory indicators and 8 radiomics features. Conclusions The multimodal machine learning models created based on ultrasound-based radiomics and clinical laboratory indicators are feasible for intelligent identification of schistosomiasis-induced liver fibrosis, and are effective to improve the classification effect of one-class data models.

Objective To study the stability of plate-assisted intramedullary nailing for fixing proximal third tibiafractures, compare and observe biomechanical characteristics of anterolateral or posteromedial plate-assisted intramedullary nailing after fixation of proximal third tibia fractures. Methods Eight artificial tibia of 4th-generation sawbones were divided into two groups based on location of the assisted plate, namely, anterolateral plate group and posteromedial plate group, with 4 specimens in each group. Each two locking bolts were fixed to theintramedullary nail proximally and distally, and each three bicortical screws were fixed to the plate proximally and distally. The specimens were osteotomized with a 10-mm defect which located 0. 5 cm to the proximal locking bolt of intramedullary nail or 5-6 cm distally to the knee joint line, in order to simulate an AO/ OTA 41-A2 type proximal third tibia fracture after fixation of intramedullary nail. After osteotomy was finished, axial compression test, three point bending test, cyclic loading and overstress test were conducted by mechanical testing machine. The results of axial stiffness and three-point stiffness between two groups were compared and analyzed. Results Axial compression test showed that the average axial stiffness in posteromedial plate group was lower than that in anterolateral plate group, but no significantly statistical differences were found between the two groups. Three point bending test showed that the average bending stiffness in posteromedial plate group was significantly higher than that in anterolateral plate group when stimulating either varus stress (plate located at pressure side of the fracture, t = 3. 679, P<0. 05) or valgus stress (plate located at tension side of the fracture, t = 8. 975, P<0. 05). Conclusions Plate-assisted intramedullary nailing for fixation of proximal third tibia fractures can minimize the angulation malalignment, improve the stability of nailed proximal tibial fragment and allow the early weight bearing. Both anterolateral and posteromedial plate-assisted intramedullary nail can provide satisfactory axial stability for proximal third tibia fractures, while posteromedial plate-assisted intramedullary nail shows better bending stability than anterolateral plate in countering varus or valgus stress deformity. This study provides an essential basis for clinical decision making about plate-assisted intramedullary nailing for fixing proximal third tibia fractures.

With the improvement of people's living standards and the increasing aging population， the incidence of cardiovascular diseases has sharply risen， making it the leading cause of death and a major "killer" for humans. The prevention and treatment of cardiovascular diseases still face severe challenges. Shenmai injection （SMI）， a Chinese medicinal preparation， is widely used in the prevention and treatment of cardiovascular diseases because of its individualized advantages in syndrome differentiation and definite efficacy. Meanwhile， its pharmacological effects and related mechanism are becoming increasingly clear. Modern research shows that SMI can exert cardioprotective effects by reducing myocardial inflammatory response， alleviating oxidative stress， inhibiting myocardial cell apoptosis， improving microcirculatory dysfunction after myocardial ischemia-reperfusion， protecting mitochondrial structure and function， inhibiting ventricular remodeling， reducing drug-induced cardiotoxicity， and possessing antiviral properties. Additionally， it can produce cardiovascular protection by relaxing blood vessels， protecting endothelial cells， and promoting angiogenesis. Furthermore， SMI can lower blood viscosity and lipid levels， thus improving blood rheology. In the future， more clinical trials and basic research are needed to clarify its therapeutic efficacy and target mechanism to further confirm the effectiveness and safety of its clinical application.

Objective:To observe the effect of horse-riding squat exercise plus Governor Vessel-regulating Tuina(Chinese therapeutic massage)therapy on static balance function in patients with stroke.Methods:A total of 176 stroke patients were enrolled as the study subjects and divided into four groups by the random number table method,namely horse-riding squat+Tuina group,horse-riding squat group,Tuina group,and control group,with 44 cases in each group.The control group was treated with rehabilitation balance training.The horse-riding squat+Tuina group,horse-riding squat group,and Tuina group were treated with additional horse-riding squat exercise plus Tuina,horse-riding squat exercise,and Tuina treatment,respectively.Four weeks of treatment was regarded as one treatment course.After 1 treatment course,the balance function of the four groups was compared.Results:After treatment,the ellipse area of motion and the length of motion in all four groups were reduced,and the intra-group differences were all statistically significant(P＜0.05).The difference in the ellipse area of motion before and after treatment in the horse-riding squat+Tuina group and the horse-riding squat group was larger than that in the control group,and the differences were statistically significant(P＜0.05).The difference in the ellipse area of motion before and after treatment in the horse-riding squat+Tuina group was larger than that in the Tuina group,and the difference was statistically significant(P＜0.05).The difference in the length of motion before and after treatment in the horse-riding squat+Tuina group,the horse-riding squat group,and the Tuina group was greater than that in the control group,and the differences were statistically significant(P＜0.05).There was no statistically significant difference in the pairwise comparison between the horse-riding squat+Tuina group,the horse-riding squat group,and the Tuina group(P＞0.05).Conclusion:Horse-riding squat exercise plus Governor Vessel-regulating Tuina therapy can effectively improve the static balance function in patients with stroke.Training the affected lower limb weight-bearing exercise,adjusting the center of gravity distribution,and promoting the mutual balance and coordination between muscle groups may be the mechanism of improving the static balance function.
