Chinese Pharmacological Bulletin 2025;41(5):801-805
Endothelial-to-mesenchymal transition(End MT)re-fers to the process in which endothelial cells undergo morpholog-ical and functional changes under certain conditions and are transformed into cells with mesenchymal characteristics.EndMT has been found to be involved in the pathological development of cardiovascular diseases, fibrotic diseases of various tissues and tumors. This article reviews the recent progress in research of EndMT,focusing on its important roles in cardiovascular diseases and related pathological mechanisms.

Subunit 5B of constitutively photomorphogenic 9 signalosome(CSN5B)is an inhibitory factor for the biosynthesis of vitamin C in the L-galactose synthesis pathway in plants. To create mutants with richer vitamin C in tomato fruits,a dual-target vector of pKSE402-SlCSN5Bwas constructed and trans-formed into the breeding parent of 1912.Based on the molecular biological assay and DNA sequencing,17 transgenic positive lines were determined, and 6 lines of them were genetically mutated at the target site of SlCSN5B,with an editing efficiency of 35.3%.Among the mutants,2 lines were homozygous mu-tants,csn5b-6 with 180 bp deletion and csn5b-8 with 3 bp deletion. The biological traits of two types of deficiency homozygotes without exogenous T-DNA insertion derived from the T1 generation were observed, and there were no significant differences in phenotypes of the plant and fruit.Through physiological tes-ting of red-ripe fruits from T,generation lines of csn5b-6,the GMPase activity and the vitamin C content significantly increased by 43%and 37.8%,respectively,the content of hydrogen peroxide significantly decreased by 25.9%,and the content of soluble solids did not obviously change, compared with the wild type. There were no significant differences in plant traits and physiological characteristics between T1 gen-eration lines of csn5b-8 and the wild type.Based on gene expression analysis and protein structure predic-tion,the results showed that the gene of SlCSN5B normally transcribed, and the loss of large peptide seg-ments of CSN5B encoded by SlCSN5B caused changes in its structure to affect functioning, which led to an increase of vitamin C content in the line of csn5b-6-1 1.The findings suggest that the vitamin C content of tomato fruit can be improved by CRISPR/Cas9-mediated SlCSN5B gene editing, which provides the valuable resources for high-quality breeding in tomato.

Aim To investigate the therapeutic effects of corylifol A(CYA)on Lewis lung carcinoma(LLC)cachexia mice and its ameliorating effects on myotube atrophy induced by LLC cell-conditioned medium(LLC CM)in vitro, and to explore the mechanisms. Methods The cancer cachexia was induced by subcu-taneous inoculation of LLC cells to C57BL/6J mice. The effects of CYA(10,20 mg·kg-1·d-1,i.p.)on the cachexia symptoms and survival time of cachexia mice were observed. The effects of 2.5 or 5 μmol·L-1 CYA on myotube atrophy of C2C12 induced by LLC CM were observed. The effects of CYA on its pos-sible target the serine/threonine-protein kinase TAO1(TAOK1)and downstream signaling pathways were detected using Western blot. The influence of TAOK1 knockout on the ameliorating effects of CYA on myo-tube atrophy was observed. Results CYA could sig-nificantly prolong the survival time of tumor-bearing mice and ameliorate the muscle atrophy associated with LLC.The effects of CYA on myotube atrophy are relat-ed to its regulation of TAOK1.The effects of CYA could be reduced by knockout of TAOK1.Conclusions CYA improves the survival of LLC cachexia mice and ameliorates the related skeletal muscle atrophy. The mechanism of CYA is related to its inhibition on TAOK1 and downstream signaling pathways.

With the growing emphasis on maternal and child oral health, the significance of managing oral health across preconception, pregnancy, and infancy stages has become increasingly apparent. Oral health challenges extend beyond affecting maternal well-being, exerting profound influences on fetal and neonatal oral development as well as immune system maturation. This expert consensus paper, developed using a modified Delphi method, reviews current research and provides recommendations on maternal and child oral health management. It underscores the critical role of comprehensive oral assessments prior to conception, diligent oral health management throughout pregnancy, and meticulous oral hygiene practices during infancy. Effective strategies should be seamlessly integrated across the life course, encompassing preconception oral assessments, systematic dental care during pregnancy, and routine infant oral hygiene. Collaborative efforts among pediatric dentists, maternal and child health workers, and obstetricians are crucial to improving outcomes and fostering clinical research, contributing to evidence-based health management strategies.

Definitive treatment of lung cancer with radiotherapy is challenging, as respiratory motion and anatomical changes can increase the risk of severe off-target effects during radiotherapy. Online adaptive radiotherapy (ART) is an evolving approach that enables timely modification of a treatment plan during the interfraction of radiotherapy, in response to physiologic or anatomic variations, aiming to improve the dose distribution for precise targeting and delivery in lung cancer patients. The effectiveness of online ART depends on the seamless integration of multiple components: sufficient quality of linear accelerator-integrated imaging guidance, deformable image registration, automatic recontouring, and efficient quality assurance and workflow. This review summarizes the present status of online ART for lung cancer, including key technologies, as well as the challenges and areas of active research in this field.

Objective To understand the situation of dental cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) quality control testing phantoms in radiation health technical service institutions in Guangdong province, analyze the differences among different phantoms, and provide a reference for dental CBCT quality control testing. Methods The testing phantoms of 49 radiation health technical service institutions were used as the research objects. The designated CBCT equipment was used for scanning and imaging. The Z-score method was used to evaluate the high-contrast resolution, low-contrast resolution, and distance measurement deviation of each phantom. Results The satisfaction rates of various items for the phantoms in 49 institutions ranged from 85.7% to 100%. The distance measurement deviations of four institutions were “suspicious”, and the high-contrast resolution of four institutions and the distance measurement deviation of one institution were “unsatisfactory”. Conclusion The overall performance of dental CBCT quality control testing phantoms in radiological health technical service institutions in Guangdong province is satisfactory. However, there are still some phantoms with poor results in items such as distance measurement deviation and high-contrast resolution. The structural design, material selection, and manufacturing process of the phantom may all affect the results of quality control testing. Therefore, appropriate phantoms, optimized exposure conditions, and suitable reconstruction algorithms should be used in CBCT quality control testing to ensure accurate and reliable measurements.
