It was a retrospective study. The propensity score matching was applied to divide the type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) patients who have underwent percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) into two groups: short-term (<4 weeks) sodium-glucose cotransporter 2 inhibitor (SGLT2i) group (213 patients) and control group (213 patients). The occurrence of contrast-induced acute kidney injury (CIAKI) after PCI was compared between the two groups. The results showed that the incidence of CIAKI in the SGLT2i group was not significantly different from the control group [10.8% (23/213) vs. 7.5% (16/213), χ2=1.383, P=0.313]. The incidence of CIAKI in patients with SGLT2i application time <1 week was higher than that in control patients, but the difference was not statistically significant [13.00% (16/123) vs. 7.5% (16/213), χ2=2.734, P=0.122]. Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that short-term (<4 weeks) use of SGLT2i would not increase the risk of CIAKI after PCI in T2DM patients ( OR=0.507, 95% CI 0.238-1.077, P=0.077). Short-term application of SGLT2i before PCI may not increase the risk of CIAKI, but it is advisable to avoid initiating the application of SGLT2i before PCI as much as possible.

Genitourinary tract infections caused by Chlamydia trachomatis ( Ct) are characterized by their insidious onset, mild symptoms, and prolonged disease course, making them challenging to treat effectively. Chronic persistent infections and associated complications impose a significant burden on both patients and society. Numerous studies have shown that relying solely on antibiotics as first-line therapy may not be sufficient to completely eradicate urogenital Ct infections. Additionally, antibiotic use can lead to the development of Ct resistance and disrupt the body′s microbial balance. Therefore, the development of novel Ct inhibitors is crucial. This review summarizes recent advances in research on Ct inhibitors, aiming to provide a valuable reference for both basic research and clinical treatment of urogenital Ct infections.

Objective:This meta-analysis aims to explore the most consistent changes in cortical thickness in drug-naive first-episode patients with major depressive disorder (DF-MDD).Methods:Systematic and comprehensive searches were conducted to acquire relevant literature from the PubMed and Web of Science databases for the studies published from inception to July 23, 2023, by using the keywords ("depression" OR "depressive disorder" OR "unipolar depression") AND ("cortical thickness"OR"thickness"). The SDM (signed differential mapping) software was used to perform whole-brain voxel-wise meta-analysis, heterogeneity test, and assess publication bias. Meta-regression analysis was employed to examine the impact of disease severity on cortical thickness in depression, and heterogeneity was tested, along with an assessment of publication bias. Results:Eight studies were ultimately included, encompassing 417 DF-MDD patients and 409 healthy controls. Compared to the healthy control group, DF-MDD patients exhibited significantly decreased cortical thickness in multiple brain regions, including the supplementary motor area ( Z=-2.471, P<0.000 5) and the rolandic operculum ( Z=-2.190, P<0.000 5). Further regression analysis found that the disease severity was positively correlated with the cortical thickness in the supplementary motor area ( Z=2.265, P<0.000 5) and the rolandic operculum ( Z=1.56, P<0.000 5). Additionally, the average depressive duration was positively correlated with cortical thickness in the right opercular part of the inferior frontal gyrus ( Z=1.922, P<0.000 5), and negatively correlated with changes in the right midcingulate cortex ( Z=-3.035, P<0.000 5) in DF-MDD. Conclusion:DF-MDD patients exhibit reduced cortical thickness in the supplementary motor area and the operculum area during the early stages of the disease. And the observed pattern of cortical alterations is associated with both the severity and duration of the disease.

Objective:To evaluate the new model of group screening combined with opportunistic screening for the diagnosis and treatment of gastric cancer. Methods:Group screening combined with opportunistic screening was used for gastric cancer screening. (1) Group screening. Cluster sampling was used to screen gastric cancer by endoscopy in high-risk population (aged 40-<70 years) of rural residents in Weihai from July 2017 to December 2020, and biopsy was obtained for histopathology if necessary. Main collection parameters included the detection rate of advanced gastric cancer, early gastric cancer and high-grade intraepithelial neoplasia (HGIN). (2) Opportunistic screening. The changes of the detection rates of early gastric cancer in opportunistic screening in 2 hospitals in Weihai area were observed during the same period of time.Results:(1) In group screening, from July 2017 to December 2020, the first batch of 8 000 cases of gastric cancer screening were completed. The cases of advanced gastric cancer, early gastric cancer and HGIN were 36, 28, and 62, respectively. The detection rates of gastric cancer and early gastric cancer were 0.80% (64/8 000) and 43.75% (28/64), respectively. The proportion of early gastric cancer+HGIN who received endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) was 77.78% (70/90), and the rate of curative resection was 100.00%(70/70). (2) Opportunistic screening: from July 2017 to December 2020, the annual early gastric cancer detection rates in opportunistic screening in Wendeng District Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine Hospital were 16.67% (1/6), 20.00% (3/15), 23.53% (4/17), and 33.33% (6/18) in the consecutive 4 years, respectively. The annual detection rates of early gastric cancer in opportunistic screening in Ru Shan Peoples Hospital were 14.74% (14/95), 23.80% (60/252), 25.49% (65/255), and 24.04% (50/208), respectively. The detection rates of opportunistic screening for early gastric cancer in hospitals in Weihai city increased year by year. Conclusion:In areas with high incidence of gastric cancer, a certain scale of group screening can lead to a wider range of opportunistic screening, resulting in the increase of the detection rate of early gastric cancer. The new model of diagnosis and treatment of gastric cancer is worth recommendation.

The importance of gut microbes to human health has gradually attracted attention. With the use of animal models, it has been revealed that maternal microbes during pregnancy could influence their children's health outcomes through shaping their microbial composition and regulating the development of their metabolic and immune system. However, the physiological mechanism of the human body is more complex and is affected by the interaction of multiple factors. The research results obtained from animal models are often inconsistent with human studies. At present, the influence of maternal intestinal microbes during pregnancy on the microbial colonization in their offspring and on a series of children's health outcomes is still unclear. Establishing a sub-cohort to detect the microbiome of the women across pregnancy and of their offspring, and further to integrate with variety of environmental and behavioral exposures can better provide reliable support for the research on the mechanism of children's health and diseases. This paper briefly introduces the research objectives, content, progress, strength and limitations of the sub-cohort study.
