This study selected 6 529 plant-based Chinese materia medica(PCMM) from Chinese Materia Medica as research subjects and applied a random permutation test to explore the overall correlation characteristics between nature and flavor, as well as the correlation characteristics after distinguishing different medicinal parts and harvest seasons. The results showed that the overall correlation characteristics between nature and flavor in PCMM were significantly associated in the following pairs: cold and bitter, cool and bitter, cool and astringent, cool and light, neutral and sweet, neutral and astringent, neutral and light, neutral and sour, hot and pungent, and warm and pungent. When analyzing the data by distinguishing medicinal parts and/or harvest seasons, new correlation patterns emerged, characterized by the disappearance of some significant correlations and the emergence of new ones. When analyzing by medicinal parts alone, significant correlations were found in the following cases: cold and light in leaves, cold and salty in barks, cool and sweet in fruits and seeds, neutral and pungent in whole herbs, neutral and salty in stems, and warm and salty in flowers. However, no significant correlations were found between cool and bitter in stems and other types of herbs, cool and astringent in fruits, seeds, flowers, and other types of herbs, cool and light in leaves, fruits, seeds, barks, flowers and other types of herbs, neutral and sweet in barks, neutral and astringent in whole herbs and stems, neutral and light in leaves, fruits, seeds, and flowers, neutral and sour in whole herbs, stems, barks, flowers, and other types of herbs, and hot and pungent in whole herbs, stems, flowers, and other types of herbs. When analyzing by harvest season alone, significant correlations were found in the following cases: cold and salty, and cool and sour in herbs harvested in winter, and neutral and salty in herbs harvested year-round. However, no significant correlation was found between cool and light in herbs harvested in winter. When considering both medicinal parts and harvest seasons, compared to the independent influence of medicinal parts, 14 new significant correlations emerged(e.g., the correlation between cool and bitter in stems harvested in spring), while 53 previously significant correlations disappeared(e.g., the correlation between cool and bitter in barks harvested in summer). Compared to the independent influence of harvest seasons, 11 new significant correlations appeared(e.g., the correlation between cold and light in barks harvested in autumn), while 50 previously significant correlations disappeared(e.g., the correlation between hot and pungent in leaves harvested in winter). This study is the first to reveal the influence of medicinal parts and harvest seasons on the correlation between nature and flavor in PCMM, which highlights that these two factors can interact and jointly affect nature-flavor correlations. Further research is needed to explore the underlying mechanisms. This study provides a deeper understanding of the inherent scientific connotations of herbal properties and offers a theoretical foundation for the cultivation and harvesting of PCMM.

Monoamine neurotransmitters mainly include serotonin,dopamine,epinephrine,and norepinephrine.They play an indispensable regulatory role in key physiological activities such as emotion,sleep,and memory within the central nervous system.Precise detection of these neurotransmitters holds great significance in the field of neuroscience research.Detection methods for monoamine neurotransmitters encompass high-performance liquid chromatography,mass spectrometry,capillary electrophoresis,fluorescence spectroscopy,and electrochemical methods,etc.Compared with other methods,electrochemical methods offer advantages such as high sensitivity,good selectivity,low cost,strong portability,convenient operation,and capability for in vivo real-time detection.This article reviewed recent research progress in electrochemical detection of monoamine neurotransmitters,focusing on a retrospective and summary from three aspects:sensor electrode materials,detection of various monoamine neurotransmitters,and in vivo real-time analysis.Furthermore,the future development of electrochemical sensors for monoamine neurotransmitters was prospected.

Objective To explore the neuroprotective effects and mechanisms of the sesquiterpene lactone compound ACT001 on rotenone(ROT)-induced Parkinson's disease(PD)model mouse.Methods SPF C57BL/6 mice were randomly divided into 6 groups,including control group,solvent control group,ROT model group,ACT001 5 mg/kg group(ROT+ACT001-5),ACT001 20 mg/kg group(ROT+ACT001-20),and levodopa(L-dopa)positive control group(ROT+L-dopa),with 9 mice in each group.The control group received an equivalent amount of intraperitoneal injection of saline,the solvent control group received an equivalent amount of rotenone solvent without rotenone,the remaining groups of mice were used to establish a PD mouse model by intraperitoneal injection of rotenone.Mice in different ACT001 dosage groups received intraperitoneal injections of high and low doses of ACT001,while the positive control group received levodopa intraperitoneally for 15 consecutive days.Behavioral changes in mice were assessed using open field,rotarod,pole-climbing,and balance beam tests.Immunofluorescence(IF)assay to detect the expression of tyrosine hydroxylase(TH)neurons,content of TH-positive fibers in the striatum and to detect the activation status of nigrostriatal microglia in the mouse midbrain;Real-time PCR was employed to measure the levels of interleukin(IL)-6,IL-1β,and tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α)in the substantia nigra of the mouse brain.Western blotting was used to measure the protein levels of TH,nuclear factor-κB(NF-κB)p65,NF-κB inhibitor α(IκBα),and phosphorylated IκBα(p-IκBα)in the substantia nigra of the mouse brain.Results Compared to the control group and the solvent control group,the rotenone-induced PD model group exhibited motor impairments in behavioral tests,a decrease in the number of TH positive neurons in the substantia nigra(P＜0.0001),decreased levels of TH-positive fibers in the striatum,activation of midbrain substantia microglia,and elevated levels of IL-6,IL-1β,TNF-α,p-IκBα,and NF-κB p65 expression.ACT001 significantly improved the behavioral impairments and substantia nigra damage in PD mice,increased the number of TH-positive neurons in the substantia nigra,increased levels of TH-positive fibers in the striatum,inhibition of microglial cell activation in the midbrain substantia nigra,and elevated the protein expression levels of IκBα while reducing the levels of IL-6,IL-1β,TNF-α,p-IκBα,and NF-κB p65 in the substantia nigra(P＜0.05).At a dose of 5 mg/kg,ACT001 significantly improved behavioral impairments in rotenone-induced PD mice,reduced the loss of dopaminergic neurons,and its mechanism may be related to the inhibition of the NF-κB signaling pathway and the suppression of inflammation.In summary,the intervention of ACT001 in the rotenone-induced PD mouse model inhibited the inflammatory response in the midbrain,increased the number of TH-positive neurons,and augmented the population of dopaminergic neurons in the substantia nigra,exerting a protective effect on neurons.Conclusion ACT001 significantly improves behavioral deficits in ROT-induced PD mice,ameliorates of dopaminergic neuron loss from the midbrain substantia nigra and striatum,inhibits the activation of nigrostriatal microglia in the midbrain,and suppresses inflammatory responses by inhibiting the activation of the NF-κB signaling pathway.

Objective:To investigate serum levels of retinol-binding protein 4(RBP4)and cystatin C(CysC)in pa-tients with coronary heart disease(CHD)and their association with intestinal flora.Methods:A total of 97 CHD patients admitted in our Department of Critical Care Medicine from December 2019 to December 2020 were treated as CHD group,another 99 healthy subjects undergoing physical examination simultaneously were regarded as control group.Serum levels of RBP4 and CysC,positive rates and number of intestinal flora were compared between two groups.With serum mean levels of RBP4 and CysC in CHD patients as critical value,they were divided into serum RBP4 high level group(RBP4≥35.97 ng/ml,n=53)and low level group(RBP4＜35.97 ng/ml,n=44),serum CysC high level group(CysC≥ 1.49 ng/ml,n=49)and low level group(CysC＜1.49 ng/ml,n=48).Number of intestinal flora were compared between different level subgroups,and Pearson method was used to analyze the asso-ciation of RBP4,CysC levels with flora number.Results:Compared with control group,there were significant rise in RBP4 and CysC levels,and significant reductions in culture positive rates and flora numbers of Bifidobacterium,Firmicutes,Lactobacillus and Proteus(P＜0.001 all),and significant rise in culture positive rates and flora numbers of Staphylococcus and Escherichia coli in CHD group(P＜0.001 all).Compared with RBP4 low level group,there were significant reductions in flora numbers of Bifidobacterium,Firmicutes,Lactobacillus and Proteus,and signifi-cant rise in flora numbers of Staphylococcus and Escherichia coli in RBP4 high level group(P＜0.001 all);com-pared with CysC low level group,there were significant reductions in flora numbers of Bifidobacterium,Firmicutes,Lactobacillus and Proteus,and significant rise in flora numbers of Staphylococcus and Escherichia coli in CysC high level group(P＜0.001 all).Pearson correlation analysis indicated that RBP4 level was significant inversely correla-ted with flora numbers of Bifidobacterium,Firmicutes,Lactobacillus and Proteus(r=-0.626～-0.482,P＜0.001 all),and significant positively correlated with flora numbers of Staphylococcus and Escherichia coli(r=0.302,0.337,P＜0.01 both);CysC level was significant inversely correlated with flora numbers of Bifidobacteri-um,Firmicutes,Lactobacillus and Proteus(r=-0.621～-0.502,P＜0.001 all),and significant positively corre-lated with flora numbers of Staphylococcus and Escherichia coli(r=0.308,0.340,P＜0.01 both).Conclusion:Se-rum levels of RBP4 and CysC increase in CHD patients,and they are closely related to the composition of intestinal flora.

Objective To analyze the distribution and antimicrobial resistance of pathogens from wounds of burned patients,providing reference for the rational use of antimicrobial agents and healthcare-associated infection(HAI)prevention and control.Methods Clinical data of burned patients admitted to a tertiary first-class hospital from Ja-nuary 2020 to December 2022 were analyzed retrospectively,pathogens in the wound was cultured,identified,and performed antimicrobial susceptibility analysis.Results From 2020 to 2022,a total of 588 burned patients were ad-mitted,734 strains of pathogens were detected,including 415 strains(56.54％)of Gram-negative bacteria,306 strains(41.69％)of Gram-positive bacteria,and 13(1.77％)strains of fungi.The top 5 pathogens were Staphy-lococcus aureus,Escherichia coli,Pseudomonas aeruginosa,Klebsiella pneumoniae,and Enterobacter cloacae.Staphylococcus aureus had higher resistance rates(93.02％-97.37％)to penicillin G,resistance rate to oxacillin increased from 11.63％to 21.92％.Pseudomonas aeruginosa mainly exhibited resistance to ticarcillin/clavulanic acid,aztreonam,and levofloxacin,resistance rates to imipenem and meropenem were 15.00％-38.10％and 10.00％-33.33％,respectively.Susceptibility of Enterobacterales bacteria to cephalosporins enhanced with the increased of cephalosporin generations,and exhibited higher resistance to commonly used antimicrobial agents.Conclusion Over the past three years,there has been no significant change in the detection of major pathogens and antimicrobial resistance in wounds of burned patients in this hospital.Antimicrobial resistance of Staphylococcus aureus and En-terobacterales is relatively severe,and it is necessary to carry out surveillance on pathogens from burn wounds in corresponding areas.

Based on the species-specific peptides of Pheretima and its common counterfeit (Metaphire magna), an identification method was established using ultra-high performance liquid chromatography tandem triple quadrupole mass spectrometry (UHPLC-MS/MS) for quality evaluation of Pheretima and its preparations. Separation was performed on a CORTECS T3 C18 column with 0.1% formic acid and acetonitrile as the mobile phases. Mass spectrometry with multiple reaction monitoring (MRM) using ESI⁺ mode was used to simultaneously monitor three ion pairs. The results indicated that the method was specific and could distinguish Guang Dilong, Hu Dilong, and M. magna, which were consistent with those of DNA barcode identification. The adulteration test showed that the LOD of peptide M was 1 μg·g^-1. Peptide M could be detected when 1% M. magna was added to Guang Dilong, indicating the high sensitivity of the method. Fifty-four batches of commercially available samples contained 35% Guang Dilong, 35% Hu Dilong, and 15% M. magna. No ions were detected in 15% of the samples, and DNA barcode identification revealed that they were mainly from Amynthas, with similar appearance to Hu Dilong. The analysis results of the formulation showed that no peptide ions were detected in 3 batches of Xiaohuoluo pills (3/6) and M. magna were detected in 2 batches of Shenjindan capsules (2/4). The developed method in the study has good specificity, sensitivity, and feasibility, and could be used for quality control of Pheretima and its related preparations. It is of great significance for improving quality standards and regulating the medicinal market of Pheretima.

italic>Lamiophlomis rotata is an important medicinal plant species endemic to the Tibetan Plateau, which is prone to strong climate change impacts on its habitable range due to the high sensitivity of the Tibetan Plateau to climate change. Accurate quantification of species vulnerability to climate change is essential for assessing species extinction risk and developing effective conservation strategies. Therefore, we carried out the α-shape analysis to determine the habitat of L. rotata. We then carried out the climate-niche factor analysis (CNFA) to assess the vulnerability of L. rotata to climate change based on five climate variables (i.e., mean diurnal range, temperature seasonality, mean temperature of warmest quarter, precipitation of driest month and precipitation of warmest quarter) in the context of two shared socioeconomic pathways (i.e., SSP126 and SSP585) and three global climate models (CMCC-ESM2: Centro Euro-Mediterraneo sui Cambiamenti Climatici-Earth System Model version 2; HadGEM3-GC31-LL: Hadley Global Environment Model version 3-Global Coupled configuration 3.1; IPSL-CM6A-LR: Institut Pierre Simon Laplace-Climate Model version 6) during two different periods (2041-2060 and 2081-2100). The vulnerability of L. rotata to climate change was calculated by integrating the sensitivity and exposure indices of L. rotata to five climate variables. The results showed that L. rotata had the highest vulnerability to the precipitation of warmest quarter. Its vulnerability within its habitat range generally showed a spatial pattern of high value in the southern region and low in the northern region, high in the western region and low in the eastern region. In general, the vulnerability of L. rotata under the SSP585 scenario was higher than that under the SSP126 scenario. The climate data of different global climate models have some influence on the results, while the resulted uncertainty can be reduced by data integration methods. As a result of climate change, the pressure on the survival of L. rotata in the future will be intensified in the low-altitude areas such as the Yarlung Zangbo River, Yigongzangbu River, Zayu River, and Jiaomuzu River, etc., while the highly weathered scree flats or stony alpine meadows in the high-altitude zones, such as the eastern Tanggula Mountain Range, the northern part of Hengduan Mountain Range, and the western part of the Qinling Mountains, may become its refuge. It is necessary to focus on and strengthen the protection and management of L. rotata resources in these vulnerble and critical areas.

Objective To investigate the efficacy of Bushen Tiaojing Decoction,a prescription derived from Daying Decoction which recorded in Jing Yue Quan Shu(The Complete Works of ZHANG Jing-Yue)and with herbs added,combined with human recombinant interferon-α-2b for the treatment of endometriosis(EMs)and to observe its effects on humoral immunity,serum carbohydrate antigen 125(CA125)and anti-endometrial antibody(EMAb)levels of EMs patients.Methods A total of 86 cases of EMs patients with kidney deficiency and blood stasis syndrome were randomly divided into observation group and control group,with 43 cases in each group.The control group was treated with human recombinant interferon-α-2b alone,and the observation group was treated with Bushen Tiaojing Decoction combined with human recombinant interferon-α-2b.The course of treatment covered one month.The changes of humoral immune factors of immunoglobulin A(IgA),complement 3(C3)and complement 4(C4),endometrial ectopic mass diameter,and the levels of pathology-relevant factors of CA1 25 and EMAb in the two groups before and after treatment were observed.Moreover,the clinical efficacy and safety of the two groups were evaluated.Results(1)After one month of treatment,the total effective rate of the observation group was 97.67％(42/43),and that of the control group was 81.40％(35/43).The intergroup comparison(tested by chi-square test)showed that the efficacy of the observation group was significantly superior to that of the control group(P＜0.05).(2)After treatment,the serum IgA level of the two groups was significantly higher than that before treatment(P＜0.05),and the serum C3 and C4 levels were significantly lower than those before treatment(P＜0.05).The increase of serum IgA level and the decrease of serum C3 and C4 levels in the observation group were significantly superior to those in the control group(P＜0.01).(3)After treatment,the serum CA125 and EMAb levels and the diameter of endometrial ectopic mass in the two groups were significantly lower than those before treatment(P＜0.05),and the decrease of serum CA125 and EMAb levels and the diameter of endometriosis mass in the observation group was significantly superior to that in the control group(P＜0.01).(4)The total incidence of adverse reactions in the observation group was 6.98％(3/43)and that in the control group was 11.63％(5/43),and the difference between the two groups was not significant(P＞0.05).Conclusion Bushen Tiaojing Decoction combined with human recombinant interferon-α-2b has a significant clinical effect for the treatment of EMs patients with kidney deficiency and blood stasis syndrome.The combined therapy is effective on improving the levels of humoral immune factors,serum CA125 and EMAb,and reducing endometrial ectopic mass,with high safety.

AIM To determine the contents of aspartic acid,glutamic acid,serine,glycine,threonine,citrulline,arginine,alanine,γ-amino-butyric acid,tyrosine,valine,phenlalanine,isoleucine,ornithine,leucine,lysine and proline in Gualoupi Injection and its intermediates,and to analyze their change laws.METHODS The OPA-FMOC online derivatization analysis was performed on a 45℃ thermostatic Waters XBridge C18 column(4.6 mm×100 mm,3.5 μm),with the mobile phase comprising of phosphate buffer solution-[methanol-acetonitrile-water(45 : 45 : 10)]flowing at 1 mL/min in a gradient elution manner,and the detection wavelengths were set at 262,338 nm.Principal component analysis and heatmap analysis were adopted in chemical pattern recognition for the corresponding intermediates in ten processes of six batches of samples.RESULTS Seventeen amino acids showed good linear relationships within their own ranges(R2>0.998 0),whose average recoveries were 83.4％-119.5％with the RSDs of 0.91％-7.94％.Different batches of samples in the same process were clustered,and the corresponding intermediates in different processed were clustered into three groups.Alcohol precipitation and cation exchange column demonstrated the biggest influences on amino acid composition.CONCLUSION This experiment can provide important references for the critical factors on quality control of Gualoupi Injection,thus ensure the stability and uniformity of final product.

Objective To observe the efficacy and safety of Morinda officinalis oligosaccharides in the continuation treatment of mild and moderate depression.Methods An open,single-arm,multi-center design was adopted in our study.Adult patients with mild and moderate depression who had received acute treatment of Morinda officinalis oligosaccharides were enrolled and continue to receive Morinda officinalis oligosaccharides capsules for 24 weeks,the dose remained unchanged during continuation treatment.The remission rate,recurrence rate,recurrence time,and the change from baseline to endpoint of Hamilton Depression Scale(HAMD),Hamilton Anxiety Scale(HAMA),Clinical Global Impression-Severity(CGI-S)and Arizona Sexual Experience Scale(ASEX)were evaluated.The incidence of treatment-related adverse events was reported.Results The scores of HAMD-17 at baseline and after treatment were 6.60±1.87 and 5.85±4.18,scores of HAMA were 6.36±3.02 and 4.93±3.09,scores of CGI-S were 1.49±0.56 and 1.29±0.81,scores of ASEX were 15.92±4.72 and 15.57±5.26,with significant difference(P＜0.05).After continuation treatment,the remission rate was 54.59％(202 cases/370 cases),and the recurrence rate was 6.49％(24 cases/370 cases),the recurrence time was(64.67±42.47)days.The incidence of treatment-related adverse events was 15.35％(64 cases/417 cases).Conclusion Morinda officinalis oligosaccharides capsules can be effectively used for the continuation treatment of mild and moderate depression,and are well tolerated and safe.
