AIM: To screen and analyze the influencing factors of myopia among primary and secondary school students and establish a predictive model to provide ideas for the prevention and control measures of myopia among children and adolescents.METHODS:A total of 1 759 primary and secondary school students from 2 primary schools, 2 junior high schools, 2 senior high schools and 1 vocational high school in the urban area of Qingdao were sampled by means of stratified cluster sampling in September 2023. Vision screening and a questionnaire survey on influencing factors were carried out based on machine learning algorithms. The screening and determination were mainly conducted in accordance with the Standard Logarithmic Visual Acuity Chart(GB/T11533-2011)and the Specifications for Screening Myopia in Children and Adolescents. The influencing factors of myopia were analyzed and a prediction model was developed based on the machine learning algorithms LASSO in combination with XGBoost, and visualization was achieved through an interactive Nomogram. Statistical analysis was performed using R statistical software version 4.3.3.RESULTS:The screening prevalence of myopia among primary and secondary school students in the urban area of Qingdao was 70.61%(1 242 cases). The optimal predictive variables for screening were grade, gender, whether parents were myopic, daily indoor sedentary time, appropriate distance between eyes and books during reading and writing, daily sleep time, distance between eyes and TV screen when watching TV/playing video games exceeding 3 meters, the playground during breaks, total duration of tutorial classes, how often eyes are rested during near work, daily computer usage time, and average daily homework time after school, totaling 12 influencing factors. The AUCs of the training set and test set were 0.770(95%CI:0.751-0.789)and 0.732(95%CI:0.714-0.750), respectively.CONCLUSION: A machine learning-based prediction model was developed and validated to predict the risk of myopia onset in primary and secondary school students, accompanied by effective visualization techniques.

OBJECTIVE To investigate the potential mechanism of Sanqi danshen tablets in the treatment of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease （NAFLD）. METHODS Core targets of Sanqi danshen tablets in the treatment of NAFLD were explored by network pharmacological methods. Gene ontology （GO） functional enrichment analysis and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes （KEGG） pathway enrichment analysis were also performed. Based on the results obtained from network pharmacological studies， using SD rats as subjects， the NAFLD model was induced by feeding them high-fat diet. The effects of Sanqi danshen tablets on pathological changes such as lipid droplet vacuoles and lipid accumulation in the liver tissue of NAFLD rats， as well as its impact on relative indicators of lipid metabolism， inflammatory responses and oxidative stress， were investigated. RESULTS A total of 20 core targets for the treatment of NAFLD with Sanqi danshen tablets were screened， primarily involved in GO functions such as biological regulation， cellular membrane and binding， and enriched in signaling pathways related to inflammatory responses， oxidative stress and lipid metabolism. Compared with the model group， lipid droplet vacuoles were reduced significantly in low-dose， medium-dose， high-dose groups of Sanqi danshen tablets and positive control （simvastatin） group， the number of lipid droplets decreased significantly and the color became lighter. The contents of total cholesterol， triglyceride （except for medium- dose group of Sanqi danshen tablets）， aspartate transaminase， alanine transaminase， tumor necrosis factor-α （except for low-dose group of Sanqi danshen tablets）， interleukin-17 （except for Sanqi danshen tablets groups） and malondialdehyde （except for low- dose group of Sanqi danshen tablets） in liver tissue were significantly decreased， while the content of superoxide dismutase was significantly increased （P＜0.01 or P＜0.05）. CONCLUSIONS Sanqi danshen tablets exert anti-inflammatory， antioxidant and lipid metabolism regulating effects by influencing the levels of inflammation， oxidative stress and lipids metabolism-related indicators， thereby improving NAFLD in rats.

Tripterygium wilfordii is a traditional Chinese medicinal herb belonging to the genus Tripterygium in the Celastraceae family， which has the effects of clearing heat and detoxifying， dispelling wind and dampness， and invigorating blood circulation to relieve pain， and is used to treat diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis， glomerulonephritis， nephrotic syndrome， lupus erythematosus， scabies， and stubborn tinea. Its chemical composition is diverse. Among them， triptolide（TP） is one of the main active and toxic components of T. wilfordii. It has significant biological activities such as anti-inflammation， anti-tumor， and immunosuppression. However， it causes serious adverse reactions such as liver and kidney function damage and reproductive system disorders. At the same time， TP has poor water solubility and low bioavailability， and the enhancement of bioavailability by increasing the dosage undoubtedly improves the exposure of the drug in non-target organs， leading to the occurrence of adverse reactions， and these largely limit the clinical application of TP. Based on this， this article extracted relevant data from the Web of Science， PubMed， and China National Knowledge Infrastructure（CNKI） databases， summarized the research on the adverse reactions of TP in recent years， and reviewed the progress of toxicity reduction research from the perspectives of structural modification， novel drug delivery systems， and compatibility. Structural modification can precisely alter the chemical structure of TP， reduce the activity of its toxic groups， and retain its biological activity while fundamentally reducing the occurrence of adverse reactions. New drug delivery systems can achieve targeted delivery of TP， increase its concentration in target organs， and reduce its exposure in non-target organs， thereby enhancing therapeutic efficacy and reducing adverse effects. In addition， the combination of TP with Chinese medicine compound， single-flavored Chinese medicine or monomer can reduce the adverse effects of TP and enhance the efficacy to different degrees， which is of clinical value. This paper systematically explains attenuation research from the above three perspectives， aiming to provide a theoretical basis for the full utilization of biological activity and drug development of TP.

OBJECTIVE To optimize the extraction process of organic acids from Angelica sinensis using deep eutectic solvents （DESs）， and conduct characterization， antioxidant activity evaluation， and extraction mechanism analysis. METHODS The conductor-like screening model for realistic solvation with segment activity coefficients （COSMO-SAC） was employed to screen the types of DESs. With total organic acid content as the response value， single-factor experiments and Box-Behnken response-surface methodology were used to optimize the extraction conditions. Using A. sinensis decoction pieces and/or A. sinensis methanol extract as references， scanning electron microscope and Fourier transform infrared spectrometer （FTIR） were applied to characterize the products. Additionally， the 1，1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl （DPPH） and 2，2′-azino-bis（3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6- sulfonic acid） （ABTS） free radical scavenging capacities were determined. Density functional theory （DFT） was used to analyze the extraction mechanism of ferulic acid and chlorogenic acid by the DESs. RESULTS & CONCLUSIONS The optimal DESs was choline chloride-propanediol. The optimal extraction conditions for organic acids from A. sinensis were as follows： choline chloride- propanediol molar ratio of 1∶1， DESs water content of 70%， solid-liquid ratio of 1∶10， heating temperature of 57 ℃， and heating and stirring time of 8 min. In three validation experiments， the total organic acid content was 2.92 mg/g， yielding a relative error of 0.34% compared to the predicted value （2.91 mg/g）. Compared with A. sinensis decoction pieces and methanol extracts， the agglomerated structure of the DESs extract powder almost disappeared， showing the presence of lamellar structures similar to those of the intestinal wall. Compared with the methanol extract， the DES extract exhibited higher FTIR characteristic peak intensity and peak area integration， as well as stronger scavenging capacities against DPPH and ABTS free radicals. The extraction of organic acids from A. sinensis by DESs is the result of the combined effects of polarity matching， hydrogen bonding， and structural adaptation.

OBJECTIVES: To explore the mechanisms of Qingre Lidan Jiedu Recipe (QLJR) for improving cognitive dysfunction in rats with high copper load. METHODS: Seventy-five male SD rats were randomized into normal control group, model group, QLJR group, penicillamine (PCA) group, and QLJR+ PCA group. Except for those in the control group, all the rats were fed a high-copper diet for 12 weeks. The effects of the treatments on cognitive function of the rats were assessed using the Barnes maze and passive avoidance tests. Hippocampal expressions of NIX, FUNDC1 and LC3 of the rats were detected using Western blotting and immunofluorescence staining, and changes in mitochondrial morphology were observed with transmission electron microscopy. RESULTS: Behavioral tests showed prolonged target hole latency, shortened latency to enter the dark chamber, and increased error counts of the rats in the model group, which were significantly improved in QLJR+PCA group; the error counts were significantly lower in QLJR+PCA group than in either QLJR or PCA group. Among all the groups, the hippocampal expressions of NIX and FUNDC1 were the lowest and LC3 I/II expression the highest in the model group; NIX and FUNDC1 expressions were significantly higher and LC3 I expression was lower in QLJR+PCA group than in QLJR group and PCA group. Immunofluorescence staining revealed weakened NIX and FUNDC1 expressions and enhanced LC3 expression in the hippocampus of the rats in the model group as compared with those in the normal control and QLJR+PCA groups, but their expressions did not differ significantly between QLJR and PCA groups. The rats in the model group showed obvious structural disarray of the mitochondria, which were improved in all the treatment groups. CONCLUSIONS QLJR improves cognitive dysfunction in rats with high copper load possibly by regulating mitophagy.

OBJECTIVE To screen the prescription and preparation method of Bupleurum nanoemulsion, and evaluate its quality, study the antipyretic effect. METHODS The emulsifier and co-emulsifier of the nanoemulsion were preliminarily screened, and then the prescription was screened by pseudo-ternary phase diagram. The quality evaluation of the appearance, particle size distribution, structure type, stability and content of the prepared Bupleurum nanoemulsion was performed. Wistar rats were further randomly divided into blank control group, model control group, positive control group(aspirin group), Bupleurum nanoemulsion high-dose, medium-dose and low-dose groups(18.00, 9.00, 3.00 g·kg−1). Except for the blank control group, the pathological model of fever rats was prepared in the other groups. According to the scheduled experimental requirements, rats in each group were given the corresponding drugs. And the temperature changes of rats in each group were recorded at 0.5, 1, 1.5, 2, 3 h to observe the antipyretic effect of Bupleurum nanoemulsion. RESULTS The best prescription of Bupleurum nanoemulsion: Tween-80 6 g and n-butanol 3 g, Bupleurum extract dissolved in pure water as water phase 20 mL, Bupleurum oil as oil phase 2 g. At room temperature, the Bupleurum nanoemulsion was a yellow-brown clear and transparent liquid, O/W nanoemulsion, with an average particle size of (77.21±3.66)nm, polydispersity index of 0.28±0.04, Zeta potential of (–18.81±1.42)mV, and saikosaponin content of 3.071 mg·mL−1, with good stability. In animal experiments, compared with the model control group, the rectal temperature of aspirin group and Bupleurum nanoemulsion high-dose group was significantly lower after the first administration(P<0.01), the rectal temperature of Bupleurum nanoemulsion middle-dose group was significantly lower after the first administration 2, 3 h(P<0.01). CONCLUSION The Bupleurum nanoemulsion is transparent and stable, and it has good antipyretic effect on fever rat model.

The prevalence rate of nonalcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD)reaches up to 30%around the world,and the disease has a serious impact on human health and constitutes a public health burden.Due to difficulties in the diagnosis and monitoring of NAFLD,it is important to identify potential drug targets and biomarkers,and multi-omics techniques hold great promise in the search for early diagnostic markers,therapeutic targets,and outcome and prognostic assessment of NAFLD.This article reviews the research advances in multi-omics techniques in the field of NAFLD in recent years,in order to provide a richer theoretical basis and new strategies for the prevention and treatment of NAFLD.

Abstract Spinal curvatures has emerged as the third major chronic condition seriously threatening the physical and mental health of Chinese children and adolescents, with significant regional differences. Its etiology is complex and diverse, and early prevention and treatment are feasible, whereas treatment in later stages entails considerable difficulty and economic burden. Currently, the prevention and control of student spinal curvatures has been elevated to a national health strategy. A series of policy documents have been successively issued, and it has greatly facilitated the institutionalization and normalization of national routine screening for student spinal curvatures. However, it is still inadequate considering current prevention and control system for spinal curvatures in children and adolescents. There is an urgent need to establish a closed loop model based on China s institutional advantages, comprising Initial Screening-Diagnosis-Treatment-Preventive Control-Followup Assessment, to strengthen the safeguarding of spinal health in children and adolescents.

Generally, small for gestational age(SGA) infants will catch up with growth after birth, but some SGAs fail to show enough catch-up growth, leading to physical growth backwardness, and the risk of metabolic diseases in adult offspring increases. The application of exogenous growth hormone replacement therapy can ensure and promote the occurrence of SGA catching up with growth. However, as growth hormone exerts therapeutic effects in related clinical diseases, clinical attention is gradually being paid to whether growth hormone may bring long-term risks. This article aims to review the efficacy and potential risks of growth hormone treatment for SGA.

Objective: To explore the current status and progress of regional school health work to provide policy reference for school health improvement. Methods: Survey data on school health work in Tianjin from 2019, 2021 and 2023 was used. School health staff allocation and expenditure of the health administrative department, CDC and education department, as well as the annual implementation of health education, prevention and control of common diseases and infectious diseases, sports activities and food nutrition in primary and secondary schools were analyzed. Statistical analysis was conducted using KruskalWallis test, Chisquare test, and Fishers exact test. Results: The number of school health staff in the health commissions and education departments from 2019, 2021 and 2023 was relatively stable. Parttime staffs were often employed by health commissions while fulltime staffs were mainly employed by education departments. The number of school health staff at CDCs increased gradually (H=12.65, P<0.01). School health expenditure of administrative departments and schools in 2021 and 2023 increased significantly compared with that in 2019 (H=22.28, 23.75, P<0.05). More than 95% of schools set up clinics or health care rooms, and about 97% of schools had school health technicians or health teachers. More than 90% of schools had health education courses over 4 hours per semester. The rate of mental health education increased by year (86.87%, 89.91%, 96.30%, Z=2.40，P<0.05). Lack of courses regarded safety emergency and risk avoidance, growth and development, and adolescent health education. The provision rate of psychological counseling services (89.00%, 97.25%, 100.00%) and psychological problem prevention and control (56.12%, 71.56%, 81.48%) also increased by year (Z=3.83, 3.96, P<0.01). The implementation rates of prevention and control of poor vision, dental caries, overweight and obesity were all higher than 80%, and the prevention and control rate of abnormal spinal curvature showed an increasing trend (38.78%, 77.06%, 72.22%, Z=4.87, P<0.01). More than 90% of schools met the standard for physical education class hours, and the proportion of schools conducting at least 30 minutes of recess physical activities every day increased year by year (65.00%, 80.73%, 85.98%, Z=3.59, P<0.01). All schools did not have shops. Conclusions School health work in Tianjin is effective and constantly developing. It is necessary to continue to increase the investment of human resources and expenditure in school health, explore the approaches of cooccurrence and prevention of common diseases, and improve the school sports and nutrition environment.
