Chinese Medical Ethics 2025;38(9):1177-1183
Social robots play an important role in the field of medical companionship, providing services such as companion communication, drug monitoring, and rehabilitation guidance for the elderly and other subjects. However, social robots also pose the risk of deceiving medical users. Although certain forms of social robots’ deception can be used for therapeutic purposes, unethical deception can have adverse consequences for patients, doctors, and even society. These risks include causing patients to develop attachment disorders, violating their privacy, endangering their health, and even undermining the credibility of the healthcare system. Faced with the deception problem of social robots, starting from relational theory, medical artificial intelligence developers can conduct ethical regulation from the following two paths. First, social robots should be ethically programmed, including embedding programs for limiting benevolent lies, implementing informed consent principles, and ensuring information accuracy. Second, the deceptive behaviors of social robots should be controlled, requiring developers to take full-process supervision responsibility, design medical social robots that can supervise each other, and participate in formulating quality standards and evidence mechanisms for deception issues.

Objective Nowadays, radioactive xenon isotopes, including 131mXe, 133mXe, 133Xe, and 135Xe, are primarily released into the atmosphere through various reactor operation and major accidents of reactors. To improve the online monitoring capability of xenon in nuclear facilities and their gaseous effluents, a highly sensitive online xenon monitoring system was developed to monitor, warn, and alarm the activity concentration of radioactive xenon. Methods The online monitoring system for radioactive xenon gas in nuclear facilities was established using xenon membrane separation and concentration, xenon high-efficiency selective adsorption, and low-background gamma-ray spectrometry analysis methods. Results Under the operation mode of one-hour sampling and one-hour measuring, the minimum detectable activity concentration of the radioactive xenon online monitoring system for 133Xe was approximately (1.43 ± 0.03) Bq/m3. Conclusion This system can be effectively used for online monitoring of xenon activity concentration in nuclear facilities such as nuclear power plants and isotope production reactors, as well as in gaseous effluents. It helps improve the safety level of personnel, the environment, and nuclear facilities.

OBJECTIVE To study the correlation between color and inner quality during the processing of Prunus mume carbon, and provide reference for the determination of processing end point of P. mume carbon. METHODS The chromaticity value of P. mume carbon powder was measured by colorimeter, and the inner quality of P. mume carbon was measured by selecting the contents of water, water-soluble extract, citric acid and tannin. The dynamic change trend of the chromaticity value, water, water- soluble extract, the contents of citric acid and tannin in P. mume carbon under different processing time was analyzed. The correlation between color and the above indexe contents was analyzed, and the regression equation of inner quality-chromaticity value was established. Combined with principal component analysis (PCA), hierarchical cluster analysis (CA) and partial least squares discriminant analysis (PLS-DA), the difference of P. mume carbon at different processing times was analyzed to determine the processing end point. RESULTS With the extension of processing time, the sample color gradually deepened; the chromaticity values L* and E* of the samples increased at first and then decreased, the chromaticity values a* and b* decreased, and finally all tended to be stable. The content of water-soluble extract, citric acid and tannin in the sample increased at first and then decreased, the water content of the sample decreased with time and finally stabilized. Correlation analysis showed that water, water-soluble extract, citric acid and tannin were positively correlated with L*, a*, b* and E*(P<0.001). PCA and HCA showed that P. mume carbon under different processing time could be clustered into two categories: the processed samples of 0-30 min and those of 40-60 min. PLS-DA showed that water and water-soluble extract were important quality indexes and b* was an important chrominance index in the processing of P. mume carbon. The chromaticity value of the samples processed for 50 min and 60 min were not significantly different. The contents of water, water- soluble extract, citric acid and tannin in the samples processed for 60 min were less than those processed for 50 min. CONCLUSIONS There is a certain correlation between the color and the inner quality of P. mume carbon. The processing time of P. mume carbon should be 40-50 min.

Objective:To investigate the effect of miR-485-5p on cisplatin resistance of colon cancer cells through the PI3K/Akt-PAK1 signaling pathway. Methods:The LoVo/DDP cell lines were constructedand divided into an NC group(without transfection treatment), an miR-485-5p mimics group(transfected with miR-485-5p mimics), an miR-485-5p inhibitors group(transfected with miR-485-5p inhibitors), an IPA-3 group(intervention with IPA-3)and an miR-485-5p mimics+ IPA-3 group(transfection with miR-485-5p mimics andinterventionwith IPA-3), with all given 0, 3, and 5 μmol/L cisplatin treatment. Results:Among the 20 patients, the proportion of negative miR-485-5p detection was 85.0%(17/20), and the proportion of positive detection was 15.0%(3/20); the proportion of negative PAK1 detection was 20.0%(4/20), and the proportion of positive detection was 80.0%(16/20). The expression of miR-485-5p in colon cancer tissue was significantly lower than that in adjacent tissues( P<0.05); the expression of miR-485-5p in the human colon cancer cell lines LoVo, SW620, HCT116, and SW480 was all lower than in normal intestinal mucosal cells( P<0.05); the expression of miR-485-5p in LoVo/DDP was significantly lower than inLoVo( P<0.001). Under the action of 3 μmol/L and 5 μmol/L cisplatin, LoVo/DDP had highercell viability but a lower apoptosis rate than LoVo( P<0.001). The cell survival rate in the miR-485-5p mimics group was significantly lower than that in the miR-485-5p inhibitors group( P<0.001). Compared with the NC mimics group, overexpression of miR-485-5p significantly down-regulated luciferase activity of the wild-type PAK1 reporter gene( P<0.001); P-PI3k, P-Akt and PAK1levels in the miR-485-5p mimics group were significantly lower than in the miR-485-5p inhibitors group( P<0.001); the cell survival rate in the miR-485-5p mimics group, the IPA-3 group and the miR-485-5p mimics+ IPA-3 group was significantly lower than in the NC group( P<0.001)and the cell survival rate in the miR-485-5p mimics+ IPA-3 group was significantly lower than in the miR-485-5p mimics group( P<0.001). Conclusions:Up-regulation of miR-485-5p reverses colon cancer cisplatin resistance through the PI3K/Akt-PAK1signaling pathway, suggesting that overexpression of miR-485-5p or inhibition of the PI3K/Akt-PAK1signaling pathway enhances the therapeutic efficacy of cisplatin in colon cancer.

Objective: To observe the effects of electroacupuncture (EA) pretreatment on M1 polarization of alveolar macrophages (AMs) in rats with acute lung injury (ALI) induced by lipopolysaccharide (LPS), and to explore the potential protective mechanism of EA.Methods: Forty Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly divided into a normal group, a model group, and three groups of EA pretreatment [including a Chize (LU5) group, a Zusanli (ST36) group and a Chize (LU5) plus Zusanli (ST36) group], with eight rats in each group. The model rats of ALI were established by instilling LPS [2 mg/(kg·bw)] into the trachea of rats for 3 h. The rats in each EA pretreatment group were pretreated with EA for 30 min per day at the corresponding bilateral acupoints 6 d before instilling LPS. Three hours after modeling, the pulmonary function of the rats was tested, and the lung tissue was taken to calculate the ratio of lung wet weight to dry weight (W/D). The pathological lung changes and the injury score were observed by hematoxylin-eosin staining. The contents of tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-α, interleukin (IL)-1β, and myeloperoxidase (MPO) in rat's bronchoalveolar lavage fluid (BALF) were detected by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. The mRNA and protein expression levels of M1 macrophage markers clusters of differentiation 86 (CD86), inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS), and its signaling pathway factor Toll-like receptor (TLR) 4, and nuclear factor-κB (NF-κB) p65 in the alveoli were detected by fluorescence quantitative polymerase chain reaction and Western blot, respectively. Results: After being induced by LPS, the pulmonary function of the model rats showed that the forced expiratory volume in 0.1 s (FEV0.1), forced expiratory volume in 0.3 s (FEV0.3), and their respective ratios of FEV to forced vital capacity (FVC) (including FEV0.1/FVC and FEV0.3/FVC) were significantly decreased (P<0.01), while the W/D of lung tissue was increased (P<0.01). The score of lung injury was significantly higher (P<0.01). The contents of TNF-α, IL-1β, and MPO in the BALF and the mRNA and protein expression levels of CD86, iNOS, TLR4, and NF-κB p65 in the lung tissue were significantly increased (P<0.01). After EA pretreatment, the FEV0.1, FEV0.3, FEV0.1/FVC, and FEV0.3/FVC were significantly increased, the lung injury score decreased significantly, and the contents of TNF-α, IL-1β, and MPO in the BALF and the expression levels of CD86, iNOS, TLR4, and NF-κB p65 mRNAs and proteins in the alveoli decreased significantly (P<0.05 or P<0.01). Compared with the other two single acupoint groups, the contents of TNF-α, IL-1β, and MPO in the BALF and the expression levels of CD86, iNOS, TLR4, and NF-κB p65 mRNAs in the alveoli in the Chize (LU5) plus Zusanli (ST36) group were significantly lower (P<0.01). Conclusion: EA pretreatment at Chize (LU5) and Zusanli (ST36) can inhibit inflammation and reduce pulmonary injury in ALI rats induced by LPS. The effect of the combination of Chize (LU5) and Zusanli (ST36) is better than that of using these two acupoints separately, and its mechanism may be related to the inhibition of AMs' M1 polarization by down-regulation TLR4/NF-κB signaling pathway.

Objective:To investigate the correlation between subclinical hypothyroidism(SCH)and the degree of coronary artery stenosis in patients with coronary heart disease. Methods:From March 2018 to September 2019, 138 patients undergoing coronary angiography in our hospital were randomly selected and their serum thyroxine(FT4)and high-sensitivity thyroid stimulating hormone(sTSH)levels were measured.Based on the levels of FT4 and sTSH, patients were divided into the SCH group and the normal group.Combined with coronary angiography results, the correlation between the SCH and the number of coronary lesions were analyzed. Results:Patients in the SCH group were associated with significantly higher levels of cholesterol(TC)[(5.83±1.27)mmol/L vs.(5.02±1.22)mmol/L, t=3.746, P=0.000], triglyceride(TG)[(3.29±1.74)mmol/L vs.(2.17±1.68)mmol/L, t=3.769, P=0.000], low-density lipoprotein cholesterol(LDL-C)[(3.81±1.02)mmol/L vs.(3.24±1.08)mmol/L, t=3.092, P=0.001], and high-density lipoprotein cholesterol(HDL-C)[(1.13±0.27)mmol/L vs.(1.02±0.25)mmol/L, t=2.4459, P=0.008]than those in the normal group. There were significant differences in sTSH levels between patients with multivessel, double vessel or single vessel disease when grouped by the number of coronary lesions, and between those with severe, moderate or mild coronary artery stenosis when grouped by disease severity(all P<0.05). Multiple regression analysis showed that SCH, TC, and LDL-C were factors affecting the number of coronary lesions( P<0.05). Conclusions:SCH is an important factor that causes the occurrence and progression of coronary artery stenosis in patients with coronary heart disease, mainly by affecting lipid metabolism.

Objective To explore the clinical features, treatment and prognosis of malignant solid tumors in the digestive tract in children and adolescents. Methods Sixty-five children and adolescents with malignant solid tumors in the digestive tract from January 1997 to June 2017 were selected, who were treated at the Affiliated Cancer Hospital of Zhengzhou University/Henan Cancer Hospital. The tumor site, gender, age, clinical presentations, treatment, follow-up time and their life status by deadline follow-up in 65 children and adolescents were collected respectively, and the clinical features, treatment methods and prognosis were retrospectively analyzed. The follow-up deadline was on December 31,2017. Results The most frequent sites of tumors were liver tumor(36 cases,55. 38%),followed by rectum tumor(11/65 cases,16. 92%),colon tumor(6/65 cases,9. 23%),pancreas tumor(5/65 cases,7. 69%),gas-tric(3/65 cases,4. 62%),esophagus (1/65 cases,1. 54%),gallbladder tumor (1/65 cases,1. 54%),ileum tumor (1/65 cases,1. 54%),and appendix tumor (1/65 cases,1. 54%). The prevalence rate in males and females was 1. 32:1. 00. The age of embryo tumor incidence was smaller, and the age of epithelium cancer incidence was older. The main symptoms included abdominal distension and pain (66. 15%,43/65 cases). Twenty-seven patients (41. 5%, 27/65 cases)was in stageⅣ. Radical and palliative surgery were the main treatment in 50 cases (76. 92%). The 1-year,3-year,5-year overall survival rates were 60. 7%,31. 0%,18. 8%,respectively. The overall survival rate of co-lon and rectal cancer was higher than that of hepatocellular cancer, and the differences were all statistically significant (χ2=6. 268,P=0. 012;χ2=11. 772,P=0. 001). The overall survival rate of patients who received surgery combined with chemoradiotherapy was the longest and those undergoing chemotherapy only was the shortest, but the differences had no statistical significance among 4 groups of sheer surgery, chemotherapy alone, surgery combined with chemothera-py and surgery combined with chemoradiotherapy(all P>0. 05). Conclusion The malignant solid tumors in the di-gestive tract in children and adolescents have a poor prognosis. The unspecific presentation makes the diagnosis diffi-cult. It is very important to diagnose early and treat as soon as possible by the combination of surgery, chemotherapy and radiotherapy to improve the overall survival rate.
