Arsenic is a semi-metal,and lipid-soluble arsenic compounds are one of the widespread forms in the environment and food chain, but there is a lack of standards for lipid-soluble arsenic compounds, which is one of the bottlenecks in the current analytical detection and toxicological studies of organic arsenic. In this study, four saturated arsenic-containing hydrocarbons,AsHC 318,AsHC 332,AsHC 346,and AsHC 374(The number is relative molecular mass),were successfully synthesized in three steps by using dimethylarsinic acid, potassium iodide, sodium hydroxide, and four brominated alkanes(1-Bromotetradecane,1-bromopentadecane,1-bromohexadecane,and 1-bromooctadecane)as raw materials. The structures of these four saturated arsenic-containing hydrocarbons were characterized by proton nuclear magnetic resonance(1H NMR)spectroscopy,13C nuclear magnetic resonance(13C NMR)spectroscopy, and high-resolution mass spectrometry(HR-MS).The yields of the method were 8%-10%,and the synthesized compounds could be used in subsequent toxicity evaluation experiments to assess the toxic effects and mechanisms of action of arsenic-containing hydrocarbons. This study provided an effective method for synthesis of arsenic-containing hydrocarbons, enriching the synthesis methods of arsenic-containing hydrocarbons, and provided raw materials for the subsequent toxicological studies of arsenic-containing hydrocarbons.

Objective To understand the disease spectrum of a natural village in an area with high incidence of esophageal cancer to provide a reference for precise prevention and control. Methods From 2008 to 2024, 711 asymptomatic people over the age of 35 years in a natural village with high incidence of esophageal cancer in China were surveyed, and 171 of them were subjected to gastroscopy, biopsy, and pathological examination. All participants were followed up for a long time, and their disease history was recorded. Results A total of 16 years of follow-up were performed, and 703 people were effectively followed up. In 2008, 171 people underwent gastroscopy, and 160 people had biopsy and pathological results in endoscopic screening. By 2024, 76 people had been diagnosed with malignant tumors of 12 different types, and among these people, 45 had esophageal cancer. Conclusion Esophageal cancer remains a significant cause of morbidity and mortality from malignant tumors in this region. Biopsy and pathological examination should be strengthened during gastroscopy, and follow-ups and regular check-ups should be given high importance to reduce the incidence and mortality rates of esophageal cancer.

Instrument separation is a critical complication during root canal therapy, impacting treatment success and long-term tooth preservation. The etiology of instrument separation is multifactorial, involving the intricate anatomy of the root canal system, instrument-related factors, and instrumentation techniques. Instrument separation can hinder thorough cleaning, shaping, and obturation of the root canal, posing challenges to successful treatment outcomes. Although retrieval of separated instrument is often feasible, it carries risks including perforation, excessive removal of tooth structure and root fractures. Effective management of separated instruments requires a comprehensive understanding of the contributing factors, meticulous preoperative assessment, and precise evaluation of the retrieval difficulty. The application of appropriate retrieval techniques is essential to minimize complications and optimize clinical outcomes. The current manuscript provides a framework for understanding the causes, risk factors, and clinical management principles of instrument separation. By integrating effective strategies, endodontists can enhance decision-making, improve endodontic treatment success and ensure the preservation of natural dentition.

OBJECTIVES:
To investigate the prognostic value of molecular minimal residual disease (Mol-MRD) monitored before and after allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) in pediatric acute myeloid leukemia (AML).
METHODS:
Clinical data of 71 pediatric AML patients who underwent HSCT between August 2016 and December 2023 were analyzed. Mol-MRD levels were dynamically monitored in MRD-positive patients, and survival outcomes were evaluated.
RESULTS:
No significant difference in the 3-year overall survival (OS) rate was observed between patients with pre-HSCT Mol-MRD ≥0.01% and <0.01% (77.3% ± 8.9% vs 80.4% ± 7.9%, P=0.705). However, patients with pre-HSCT Mol-MRD <1.75% had a significantly higher 3-year OS rate than those with Mol-MRD ≥1.75% (86.6% ± 5.6% vs 44.4% ± 16.6%, P=0.020). The median Mol-MRD level in long-term survivors was significantly lower than in non-survivors [0.61% (range: 0.04%-51.58%)] vs 10.60% (range: 1.90%-19.75%), P=0.035]. Concurrent flow cytometry-based MRD positivity was significantly higher in non-survivors (80% vs 24%, P=0.039). There was no significant difference in the 3-year overall survival rate between patients with Mol-MRD ≥0.01% and those with <0.01% at 30 days post-HSCT (P=0.527). For children with Mol-MRD <0.22% at 30 days post-HSCT, the 3-year overall survival rate was 80.4% ± 5.9%, showing no significant difference compared to those with molecular negativity (87.0% ± 7.0%) (P=0.523).
CONCLUSIONS
Patients with pre-HSCT Mol-MRD <1.75% or post-HSCT Mol-MRD <0.22% may achieve long-term survival outcomes comparable to Mol-MRD-negative cases through HSCT and targeted interventions.

Chinese journal of integrative medicine 2025;31(3):228-239
OBJECTIVE:
To investigate the effect of zedoarondiol on neovascularization of atherosclerotic (AS) plaque by exosomes experiment.
METHODS:
ApoE-/- mice were fed with high-fat diet to establish AS model and treated with high- and low-dose (10, 5 mg/kg daily) of zedoarondiol, respectively. After 14 weeks, the expressions of anti-angiogenic protein thrombospondin 1 (THBS-1) and its receptor CD36 in plaques, as well as platelet activation rate and exosome-derived miR-let-7a were detected. Then, zedoarondiol was used to intervene in platelets in vitro, and miR-let-7a was detected in platelet-derived exosomes (Pexo). Finally, human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs) were transfected with miR-let-7a mimics and treated with Pexo to observe the effect of miR-let-7a in Pexo on tube formation.
RESULTS:
Animal experiments showed that after treating with zedoarondiol, the neovascularization density in plaques of AS mice was significantly reduced, THBS-1 and CD36 increased, the platelet activation rate was markedly reduced, and the miR-let-7a level in Pexo was reduced (P<0.01). In vitro experiments, the platelet activation rate and miR-let-7a levels in Pexo were significantly reduced after zedoarondiol's intervention. Cell experiments showed that after Pexo's intervention, the tube length increased, and the transfection of miR-let-7a minics further increased the tube length of cells, while reducing the expressions of THBS-1 and CD36.
CONCLUSION
Zedoarondiol has the effect of inhibiting neovascularization within plaque in AS mice, and its mechanism may be potentially related to inhibiting platelet activation and reducing the Pexo-derived miRNA-let-7a level.

World Science and Technology-Modernization of Traditional Chinese Medicine 2025;27(5):1207-1218
Objective There are so many tongue diagnosis features that need to be analyzed in Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM),including tongue color, coating color, tongue morphology, and tongue dynamics, with about 30 different categories.Different tongue diagnosis features are often analyzed by individual methods, which fails to fully utilize the correlation between diagnostic features and greatly increases the overall implementation complexity of the TCM analysis system. Methods Therefore,in this paper,a TCM tongue color and coating color collaborative classification method based on relation network has been proposed.Firstly,a dual branch lightweight convolutional neural network has been constructed.By designing low and high layer feature fusion modules and combining Coordinate Attention mechanism, high classification accuracy can be achieved with lower model complexity.Secondly,a network for the tongue color and coating color relationship leaning has been designed to model the correlation between the two labels.By the network, the nonlinear information can be learned, which is used as a supplement for collaborative classification. Results The experimental results on two self-established TCM tongue diagnosis feature analysis datasets show that, the accuracy of tongue color classification reaches 95.17%and 93.67%respectively,while that of coating color classification reaches 91.11%and 90.53%respectively.Conclusion The proposed collaborative classification method can improve the classification accuracy of the two tasks, but simultaneously, the overall model complexity is reduced by almost half.

Objective:To explore brain MRI features of methylmalonic acidemia (MMA).Methods:This observational study retrospectively analyzed the clinical and imaging data of 123 patients with MMA diagnosed at Shandong Provincial Hospital Affiliated to Shandong First Medical University and Qilu Hospital of Shandong University from January 2010 to November 2022. The 123 patients were divided into 7 stages according to age of onset, neonatal period (0 to<1 month), infancy (1 month to<1 year), early childhood (1 to<4 years), preschool (4 to<7 years), school age (7 to<13 years), adolescent (13 to 17 years) and adult (>17 years). All patients underwent brain MRI scanning. The imaging performances were evaluated, including the number, location, morphology of the lesions. Results:Of the 123 patients, 40 were in the neonatal period, 29 in infancy, 13 in early childhood, 9 in preschool, 6 in school age, 13 in adolescence, and 13 in adulthood. The first symptoms of patients in the neonatal period were mainly digestive system abnormalities, such as difficulty in breastfeeding (37.5%, 15/40) and vomiting (25.0%, 10/40), with neurological symptoms gradually becoming the main manifestations from infancy. Seventy-three cases (59.3%) showed significant abnormalities on cranial MRI, including 17 cases with 33 foci in the neonatal period, 23 cases with 53 foci in infancy, 11 cases with 16 foci in early childhood, 2 cases with 2 foci in preschool, 3 cases with 7 foci in school age, 7 cases with 9 foci in adolescence, and 10 cases with 16 foci in adulthood. In neonatal period, the main manifestations were myelin dysplasia (18%,6/33), dilatation of the lateral ventricular system (18%,6/33), and pallidal bulb infarct foci (18%,6/33); in infancy, the main manifestations were hypoplasia or thinning of the corpus callosum (30%,16/53); in early childhood, the main manifestations were pallidal bulb infarct foci (38%,6/16); and the two MRI abnormalities in preschool were pallidum and thalamic infarct foci; in school age, the main manifestations were infarct foci in the chiasmatic nucleus (29%,2/7) and in the caudate nucleus (29%,2/7); in adolescence, the main manifestation was dilatation of the lateral ventricular system (33%,3/9); and in adulthood, the main manifestation was dilatation of the lateral ventricular system (19%,3/16).Conclusion:By staging the age of onset, it is found that the imaging manifestations of MMA patients show significant differences with age, suggesting that there is a dynamic nature of MMA damage to brain structures at different developmental stages.
