Objective To analyze the current status and emerging technology trends in domestic medical drainage tube patents,so as to explore possible factors for low patent conversion rates. Methods Patents associated with"drainage tube","medical drainage tube","surgical drainage tube"and related terms were retrieved from the National Intellectual Property Administration Database and the Innojoy Patent Search Engine, covering the period from 2010 to 2020.Screening and visual analysis were conducted using Excel and SPSS 27.0.Results A total of 2 895 relevant patents were identified, comprising 2 489 utility model patents,367 invention patents and 39 design patents. The number of patent applications demonstrated a year-on-year growth trend, with a higher concentration in eastern coastal regions and provinces housing numerous top-tier hospitals and medical institutions.Approximately 49.26%of the patents filed by individuals were affiliated with hospitals, universities,or enterprises.Innovation hotspots included the design, functionality, performance, and safety aspects of drainage tubes and probes.Of the patents,72.61%were invalid, and 61.73%had a survival period of three years or less.Only 5.15%were commercially utilized through transfers, pledges,or licensing. Conclusion Domestic patent applications for medical drainage tubes have seen rapid growth, with a focus on enhancing tube structures such as sleeves, balloons, drainage holes, and threaded designs. However, the unsatisfactory situation of patent conversion and operation have been mainly limited by factors such as weak core technology of patents, insufficient awareness of achievements conversion, poor operation of patent conversion mechanism, insufficient market promotion, and insufficient integration of industry, academia, and research. To address this issue, enhancing intellectual property protection, revitalizing valid patents, and expanding transformation channels would benefit patients and facilitate hospitals'high-quality development, injecting new vitality into the health industry.

Chinese Journal of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation 2025;47(10):901-905
Objective:To compare the effects of intermittent oro-esophageal tube feeding (IOE) and nasogastric tube feeding (NGT) on nutritional status, complications, swallowing function and airway protection in persons with post-stroke dysphagia (PSD).Methods:Sixty PSD patients were randomized into an observation group ( n=30) and a control group ( n=30). In addition to conventional medication and swallowing rehabilitation, the observation group received supplemental IOE nutrition, while the control group was given NGT. Before and after one month, both groups were evaluated using the Functional Oral Intake Scale (FOIS), and such nutritional indicators as body mass index (BMI), hemoglobin (Hb) levels, albumin (ALB), prealbumin (PAB), skinfold at the triceps (TSF) and arm muscle circumference (AMC) were measured. The morphology of each subject′s epiglottis, any edema of the arytenoid mucosa and vocal cord mobility were assessed using fiberoptic endoscopic evaluation of swallowing (FEES). Murray Secretion Scale ratings were documented, along with laryngeal sensation during swallowing, swallowing reflex, the Yale Pharyngeal Residue Severity Rating Scale, and the Rosenbek Penetration-aspiration Scale. Results:Both groups showed significant improvement in their average FOIS scores and all of the nutritional descriptors, but with significantly greater improvement in the observation group. Abnormalities in the shape of the epiglottis, arytenoid edema and vocal cord mobility had decreased significantly in both groups. This was also true of larynx sensation, swallowing reflex, pharyngeal secretions, residue and penetration/aspiration. On average the improvements were significantly greater in the observation group. Conclusion:Compared with NGT, IOE more effectively improves swallowing, enhances airway functioning and reduces NGT syndrome among PSD patients. These observations support its clinical adoption.

Objective:To identify the incidence and prevalence of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) in the northern Chinese population of Jinan, Shangdong Province, along with its temporal trends from 2005 to 2022.Methods:By utilizing the data from the Jinan basic medical insurance system, a population-based IBD cohort was constructed. This facilitated the computation of both the incidence and prevalence rates of IBD, alongside their temporal trends throughout the 2005 to 2022 timeframe. The 95% confidence intervals were estimated using poisson regression. Results:The overall incidence rate of IBD showed a yearly increasing trend, with age-standardized incidence rates rising from 0.03/100 000 in 2005 to 5.39/100 000 in 2022. The age-standardized incidence rate of ulcerative colitis (UC) increased from 0.03/100 000 in 2005 to 4.97/100 000 in 2022. The age-standardized incidence rate of Crohn's disease (CD) rose from 0.05/100 000 in 2011 to 0.44/100 000 in 2022. The crude prevalence of IBD increased from 0.60/100 000 in 2005 to 32.39/100 000 in 2022. Specifically, the crude prevalence of UC increased from 0.60/100 000 in 2005 to 31.44/100 000 in 2022, while the crude prevalence of CD increased from 0.05/100 000 in 2011 to 1.19/100 000 in 2022.Conclusions:Analysis of recent medical insurance data reveals a continuous uptrend in both the incidence and prevalence of IBD in Jinan, a northern city in China. This underscores the urgent need for enhanced medical resources and healthcare guaruntee to ensure the well-being of individuals afflicted with IBD.

Chinese Journal of Reparative and Reconstructive Surgery 2025;39(12):1568-1573
OBJECTIVE:
To evaluate the effectiveness of the single-stage anterior eccentric kyphotic distraction reduction technique (EKD-RT) for treating lower cervical dislocation with locked facet joints, assessing its reduction success rate, neurological improvement, and safety.
METHODS:
A retrospective analysis was conducted on 67 patients with lower cervical dislocation and locked facet joints (21 unilateral, 46 bilateral) treated between January 2015 and January 2024. There were 39 males and 28 females, with an average age of 49.5 years (range, 22-75 years). The injured segments included C 3, 4 in 4 cases, C 4, 5 in 13 cases, C 5, 6 in 22 cases, and C 6, 7 in 28 cases. The interval between injury and admission ranged from 2 hours to 2 days (mean, 5.6 hours). Preoperative Frankel grading included grade A in 9 cases, grade B in 28 cases, grade C in 17 cases, grade D in 11 cases, and grade E in 2 cases. Japanese Orthopaedic Association (JOA) score was 7.0±1.4. All patients underwent single-stage anterior cervical discectomy and fusion. Following discectomy at the dislocated level, the EKD-RT was applied to unlock and reduce the locked facet joints, followed by internal fixation. Operation time, blood loss, reduction success rate, and complications were recorded. Interbody fusion status was evaluated using Bridwell criteria. Neurological status was assessed pre- and post-operatively using Frankel grading. Spinal cord function was scored using the 17-point JOA score, and the improvement rate was calculated.
RESULTS:
Successful reduction of the locked facet joints achieved in all cases. The operation time was 41-85 minutes (range, 63.3 minutes), and intraoperative blood loss was 50-360 mL (range, 125.0 mL). Complications included cerebrospinal fluid leakage in 2 cases; no severe complications such as major vascular injury or recurrent laryngeal nerve injury occurred. All patients were followed up 12-24 months (mean, 17.9 months). At last follow-up, radiological examination confirmed interbody fusion in all patients, with no implant failure or migration. The Frankel grading included grade A in 3 cases, grade B in 9 cases, grade C in 13 cases, grade D in 16 cases, and grade E in 26 cases; the JOA score reached 13.7±2.3; all of which significantly improved compared to preoperative levels ( P<0.05). The improvement rate of JOA score was 66.1%±24.7%.
CONCLUSION
The EKD-RT is an effective surgical approach for lower cervical dislocation with locked facet joints. It enables safe and efficient reduction of the locked facet joints via a single incision, resulting in significant neurological improvement with a low complication rate.
