AIM:To investigate the predictive value of central corneal thickness(CCT)and coefficient of variation(CV)of endothelial cell area for secondary glaucoma in patients with uveitis.METHODS: A retrospective study was conducted on uveitis patients admitted to our hospital from July 2023 to April 2025. Based on the occurrence of secondary glaucoma, patients were divided into an occurrence group and a non-occurrence group, and the clinical data of the two groups were compared. Univariate and multivariate Logistic regression analyses were performed to screen for factors affecting poor prognosis. The predictive value of CCT and CV for secondary glaucoma in patients with uveitis was analyzed using receiver operating characteristic(ROC)curves.RESULTS: A total of 100 uveitis patients(100 eyes)were included and categorized into an occurrence group(16 cases, 16 eyes)and a non-occurrence group(84 cases, 84 eyes), there were 9 males and 7 females in the occurrence group, with a mean age of 45.25±10.32 years, and there were 40 males and 44 females in the non-occurence group, with a mean age of 43.89±12.47 years. The CCT in the occurrence group was significantly lower than that in the non-occurrence group, while the CV was significantly higher than that in the non-occurrence group(both P<0.001). Multivariate Logistic regression analysis showed that CCT was a protective factor, and CV was a risk factor for secondary glaucoma in patients with uveitis(both P<0.01). The areas under the ROC curve(AUC)for CCT and CV in predicting secondary glaucoma were 0.794 and 0.792, respectively. The combined predictive model yielded an AUC of 0.888, with a sensitivity of 98.15% and a specificity of 67.74%, demonstrating good predictive efficacy.CONCLUSION: CCT and CV have certain clinical value in predicting secondary glaucoma in uveitis patients. The combined diagnostic approach demonstrates higher efficacy and serves as an auxiliary indicator for assessing the risk of secondary glaucoma in patients with uveitis, allowing for targeted clinical prevention and treatment measures.

Medical humanities consistently run through the entire process of medical development and educational reform. However， with the increasingly prominent dominance of evidence-based medicine in clinical practice， the medical humanities have gradually been weakened in both medical education and clinical practice. Narrative medicine， through telling and listening to patients’ stories， enhances healthcare professionals’ empathy， fosters doctor–patient communication， and facilitates a return to the humanistic essence of medical education and clinical practice. By sorting out and reviewing related literature and developmental trends both at home and abroad， this paper pointed out the existing structural problem of an imbalance between technological priority and humanistic care in medical education， focusing on how to achieve an effective integration of medical humanities and narrative medicine in medical education. This paper also systematically analyzed the significance of both medical humanities and narrative medicine in the medical education system and proposed promoting the deep embedding of narrative medicine in medical education from three entry points， namely， curriculum integration， interdisciplinary collaboration， and the construction of teaching evaluation systems. The aim was to provide theoretical support and practical experience for medical education reform， foster the coordinated development of professional competence and humanistic spirit among medical talents， and truly achieve the goal of cultivating well-rounded medical talents.

BACKGROUND: Chronic kidney disease (CKD)-associated anemia (CKD-anemia) is associated with poor survival, and hemoglobin targets are often not achieved with current therapies. Phase 3 trials have demonstrated the treatment efficacy of roxadustat for CKD-anemia. This phase 4 study aims to evaluate the long-term (52-week) safety and effectiveness of roxadustat in a broad real-world patient population with CKD-anemia with and without dialysis in China. METHODS: This Phase 4 multicenter, open-label, prospective study, conducted from 24 November 2020 to 11 November 2022, evaluated the long-term safety and effectiveness of roxadustat for CKD-anemia in China. Patients aged ≥18 years with CKD-anemia with or without dialysis were included. The initial oral dose was 70-120 mg (weight-based followed by dose adjustment) over 52 weeks. The primary endpoint was safety based on adverse events (AEs). The secondary endpoints were hemoglobin changes from baseline and the proportion of patients who achieved mean hemoglobin ≥100 g/L. Effectiveness evaluable populations 1 (EE1) and EE2 included roxadustat-naïve and previously roxadustat-treated patients, respectively. The safety analysis set (SAF) included all patients who received ≥1 occasion. RESULTS: The EE1, EE2, and SAF populations included 1804, 193, and 2021 patients, respectively. In the SAF, the mean age was 50 ± 14 years, and 1087 patients (53.8%) were male. Mean baseline hemoglobin was 96.9 ± 14.0 g/L in EE1 and 100.3 ± 12.9 g/L in EE2. In EE1, the mean (95% confidence interval) hemoglobin changes from baseline over weeks 24-36 and 36-52 were 14.2 (13.5-14.9) g/L and 14.3 (13.5-15.0) g/L, respectively. Over weeks 24-36 and 36-52, 83.3% and 86.1% of patients in EE1 and 82.7% and 84.7% in EE2 achieved mean hemoglobin ≥100 g/L, respectively. In the SAF, 1643 (81.3%) patients experienced treatment-emergent AEs (TEAEs). Overall, 219 (10.8%) patients experienced drug-related TEAEs. Thirty-eight (1.9%) patients died of TEAEs (unrelated to the study drug). Vascular access thrombosis was uncommon. CONCLUSIONS: Roxadustat (52 weeks) increased hemoglobin and maintained the treatment target in Chinese patients with CKD-anemia with acceptable safety, supporting its use in real-world settings. Objective:To explore highly efficient ventilation protection technology for large-space workplaces adapted to the production process in composite material impregnation.Methods:A composite material impregnation room was selected as the research subject from August to December 2023. Occupational health investigation, on-site detection, and physical simulation of air distribution were used to analyze the distribution of the xylene concentrations in the impregnation room. In addition, the causes for excessive concentrations were analyzed, and the combination ventilation design of enclosed negative pressure cabinets and jet directional supply of fresh air was proposed. The concentration of xylene, the capture velocity and the differential pressure of ventilation facilities before and after the transformation were tested on the spot. The rationality of the airflow organization was determined through smoke testing, and the ventilation protection effects before and after the transformation were analyzed.Results:The time-weighted average allowable concentration ( CTWA) of xylene was reduced from 41.73 mg/m 3 to 7.78 mg/m 3, and the CTWA of xylene were reduced by 81.4%. The values of capture velocity at all areas were higer than 0.5 m/s, and the values of velocity unevenness in all regions were lower than or equal to 0.25. The differential pressure between the enclosed cabinet and the impregnation room corridor was -2 to -1 Pa. The overall velocity distribution at all areas was relatively uniform, the airflow organization was reasonable, and negative pressure was formed inside the enclosed cabinet. Conclusion:The combination ventilation design of xylene, the capture velocity and the differential pressure of ventilation facilities effectively reducing the xylene concentration in the workplace, and provide a reference for ventilation protection of xylene workplace.

Objective To evaluate the clinical efficacy of hip-knee-ankle active and passive exercise therapy in patients with early-to mid-stage knee osteoarthritis(KOA).Methods A total of 180 patients with early to mid-stage knee osteoarthritis(KOA)were recruited from the First Affiliated Hospital of Hebei University of Tradi-tional Chinese Medicine between March 2023 and March 2024.Patients were randomly assigned to one of four groups:active movement group,passive movement group,combined movement group,and control group,with 45 patients in each group.The active movement group received hip-knee-ankle active movement therapy daily until the end of follow-up.The passive movement group underwent hip-knee-ankle passive movement therapy three times per week for two weeks.The combined movement group received both active and passive therapies.The control group was administered oral celecoxib capsules(200 mg once daily for two weeks).Joint function was assessed in all four groups before treatment,at two weeks post-treatment,and at 14 weeks post-treatment.The primary outcome measure was the WOMAC joint function score,while secondary outcomes included the WOMAC pain score,stiffness score,and quality of life score(SF-12).Results A total of 160 patients completed the trial,with 39 in the active group,42 in the passive group,40 in the combined group,and 39 in the control group.There were no significant differences in baseline characteristics among the groups(P>0.05).Compared to baseline,the WOMAC scores for function,pain,and stiffness in the passive,combined,and control groups decreased significantly at both 2 and 14 weeks post-treatment(P<0.05),while the SF-12 scores increased significantly(P<0.05).Between 2 and 14 weeks post-treat-ment,the active and combined groups showed further significant decreases in WOMAC function,pain,and stiffness scores(P<0.05)and increases in SF-12 scores(P<0.05).At 2 weeks post-treatment,compared to the control group,the passive and combined groups exhibited significantly lower WOMAC function scores(P<0.05),with no significant difference between the passive and combined groups(P>0.05).By 14 weeks post-treatment,the active and combined groups demonstrated significantly lower WOMAC function scores(P<0.05),with the combined group showing a significantly lower score than the active group(P<0.05).Conclusion The four therapeutic approaches demonstrate a certain degree of efficacy in improving joint function for patients with early and mid-stage KOA.The passive therapy group exhibits superior short-term outcomes,while the active therapy group shows better long-term benefits.The combined therapy group presents notable advantages in both short-term and long-term effi-cacy,although its short-term effectiveness does not surpass that of the passive therapy group.It is recommended for patients with early and mid-stage KOA who have underlying gastrointestinal and cardiovascular conditions.

Iron is an essential trace element for brain development and cognitive function maintenance. Iron homeostasis disruption in the body, whether due to iron overload or deficiency, may lead to a series of adverse consequences to the brain. Vascular cognitive impairment is a neurodegenerative disease characterized by cognitive impairment such as mental decline and weak thinking, which seriously endangers people's health. At present, the relationship between iron metabolism and vascular cognitive impairment is receiving more and more attention. This paper summarizes the progress of iron metabolism and its role in vascular cognitive impairment, in order to provide new ideas and methods for prevention and treatment of vascular cognitive impairment.

Corneal transplantation is an effective treatment for corneal blindness, and it is the only hope for patients with corneal blindness. Cornea has no blood vessels and no lymphatic vessels, which is called immune privilege organ, so the success rate of corneal transplantation is significantly higher than that of other organ transplantation, but the rejection reaction after corneal transplantation is still the main reason for the failure of corneal transplantation. The directional movement of immune cells to lymphoid tissue and inflammatory sites is the mainly immune response after organ transplantation. And the regulatory T cells(Treg)play a key role in immune regulation, which can induce immune tolerance by regulating and inhibiting the activation of effector T cells and reduce the rejection reaction after corneal transplantation. In addition, this review also discussed the effectiveness of applying cordyceps sinensis extract FTY720 to enhance the function of Treg. Based on this, we briefly reviewed the sources, mechanism of action and treatment of Treg after corneal transplantation, so as to provide some reference for the subsequent clinical application transformation and basic research.
