Programmed cell death 1 (PD-1) inhibitor therapy for lung adenocarcinoma may induce rare but severe hematologic adverse events, including severe anemia. Although glucocorticoids are recommended for managing immune-related adverse events, therapeutic experience with PD-1 inhibitor-induced severe anemia remains limited, and its efficacy and safety have not been fully validated. This article reports a case of advanced lung adenocarcinoma in which severe anemia developed following combination therapy with chemotherapy and PD-1 inhibitor. After comprehensive evaluation, the patient was diagnosed with anemia of inflammation (AI) and achieved significant hemoglobin recovery following high-dose glucocorticoid treatment. These findings may provide new insights into the recognition and management of this rare hematologic toxicity in clinical practice.

OBJECTIVES:
This study aimed to investigate the correlation between clinical symptoms and unilateral chewing habits in patients with temporomandibular disorder (TMD) accompanied by tinnitus.
METHODS:
A total of 285 patients diagnosed with TMD at the Department of Stomatology of the First Medical Center of Chinese People's Liberation Army General Hospital between December 2020 and May 2024 were included and divided into two groups: tinnitus group and non-tinnitus group. Analysis was conducted on the proportion of patients with unilateral chewing habits in both groups, the correlation between the side of tinnitus and the side of unilateral chewing, and the correlation of tinnitus with TMD clinical symptoms (joint clicking, joint pain, and limited mouth opening) and unilateral chewing habits. The correlation of the type of disc displacement with unilateral chewing and tinnitus was also examined.
RESULTS:
In the tinnitus group, the proportions of patients with and without unilateral chewing habits were 90.70% (39/43) and 9.30% (4/43), respectively. In the non-tinnitus group, the proportions of patients with and without unilateral chewing habits were 76.03% (184/242) and 23.97% (58/242), respectively. The proportion of patients with unilateral chewing habits in the tinnitus group was significantly higher than in the non-tinnitus group (χ2=4.613, P<0.05). Correlation analysis showed a positive correlation between tinnitus and unilateral chewing habits (P<0.05). In the left-sided tinnitus group, the proportion of left-sided unilateral chewers [54.55% (12/22)] was higher than that of right-sided unilateral chewers [45.45% (10/22)]. In the right-sided tinnitus group, the proportion of right-sided unilateral chewers [81.82% (9/11)] was higher than that of left-sided unilateral chewers [18.18% (2/11)]. The difference was statistically significant (χ2=7.282, P<0.05). A positive correlation was also found between the side of tinnitus and the side of unilateral chewing habits (P<0.05). The proportion of patients with pain was significantly higher in the tinnitus group than in the non-tinnitus group (P<0.05). No significant difference in the proportion of joint clicking or limited mouth opening and disc displacement (no disc displacement, unilateral disc displacement, bilateral disc displacement, reducible disc displacement, or irreducible disc displacement) was found between the tinnitus and non-tinnitus groups (P>0.05).
CONCLUSIONS
TMD with unilateral chewing habits may be a contributing factor to unexplained tinnitus. Unexplained tinnitus is correlated with joint pain in patients with TMD.

The poor prognosis of triple negative breast cancer (TNBC) results from a lack of approved targeted therapies coupled with aggressive proliferation and metastasis, which is associated with high recurrence and short overall survival. Here we developed a strategy by employing tumor-targeted self-assembled nanoparticles to coordinately regulate BACH1 (BTB domain and CNC homology 1) and mitochondrial metabolism. The BACH1 inhibitor hemin and mitochondria function inhibitor berberine derivative (BD) were used to prepare nanoparticles (BH NPs) followed by the modification of chondroitin sulfate (CS) on the surface of BH NPs to achieve tumor targeting (CS/BH NPs). CS/BH NPs were found to be able to inhibit tumor migration and invasion by significantly decreasing the amounts of tumor cell metabolites, glycolysis and metastasis-associated proteins, which were related to the inhibition of BACH1 function. Meanwhile, decreased mitochondrial membrane potential, activated caspase 3/9 and increased ROS production demonstrated coordinated regulation of BACH1 and mitochondrial metabolism. In a xenograft mice model of breast cancer, CS/BH NPs significantly inhibited tumor growth and metastasis due to the synergetic effect of hemin and BD without showing obvious toxicities for major organs. In sum, the results of efficacy and safety experiments suggest potential clinical significance of the prepared self-assembled CS/BH nanoparticles for the treatment of TNBC.

With the increasing incidence of osteoporosis, osteoporotic vertebral compression fracture (OVCF) has become a common disease in the elderly. Relevant researches have indicated that percutaneous vertebroplasty (PVP) has become the main treatment for painful osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures. In aspect of perioperative nursing care for PVP, both domestic and foreign scholars have published a large number of research reports, indicating that perioperative nursing intervention can alleviate the pain, reduce the incidence of complications, improve the quality of life of patients, and promote rehabilitation. This article aims to make a comprehensive review about the perioperative nursing care for patients with osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures who are receiving PVP so as to provide reference for clinical nursing staff in the implementation of nursing intervention. Objective To determine the relationship between brain injury and cerebral glucose metabolism in rat model of cardiac arrest. Methods Asphyxia-induced cardiac arrest model was established. Forty-two male Wistar rats were randomly assigned to sham or experimental groups. Rats in the CA4,CA6 and CA8 group were treated with cardiopulmonary resuscitation(CPR) 4 min, 6 min and 8 min after cardiac arrest, respectively. The maximum standardized uptake value (SUVmax) of glucose was detected by PET, and neural defi cit score (NDS) were evaluated at 24 h and 72 h after ROSC. The numbers of injured neurons and apoptotic cells and the protein level of hexokinase I (HXK I) were measured at 72 h after ROSC. Results SUVmax, NDS and the level of HXK I were all decreased after ROSC, and interestingly, this declination of these markers was correlated with the prolongation of the duration of CA, the longer duration of CA the more declination of these biomarkers. Accordingly, the number of injured neurons and apoptotic cells increased were correlated with duration of CA, and thus CA8 group had greater numbers of those cells than CA6 group and CA4 group (P<0.05),and CA6 group had greater numbers of those cells than CA4 group(P<0.05). In addition, the SUVmaxwas positively correlated with NDS(P<0.05), and negatively correlated with the numbers of injured neurons and apoptotic index(P<0.05). Conclusions The degree of brain injury is associated with cerebral glucose metabolism, and PET may become a novel method to assess the severity of brain damage after CA.

Objective:
To evaluate the incidence of postoperative venous thromboembolism (VTE) after thoracic surgery and its characteristic.
Methods:
This was a single-center, prospective cohort study. Patients undergoing major thoracic surgeries between July 2016 and March 2017 at Department of Thoracic Surgery, Beijing Chaoyang Hospital Affiliated to Capital Medical University were enrolled in this study. Besides the routine examination, all patients were screened for deep venous thrombosis (DVT) by using noninvasive duplex lower-extremity ultrasonography after surgery. CT pulmonary angiography (CTPA) was carried out if patients had one of the following conditions including typical symptoms of PE, high Caprini score (>9 points) or new diagnosed postoperative DVT. Caprini risk assessment model was used to detect high risk patients. No patients received any prophylaxis of VTE before surgery. Further data was analyzed for identifying the incidence of postoperative VTE. The
