Organophosphate flame retardants (OPFRs) have been widely used as the main alternatives to bromine-based flame retardants, resulting in their widespread detection in environmental media and even in human blood. The potential health risks arising therefrom, particularly the direct impacts on the blood system, have become a focus in the field of environmental health. This article systematically reviewed the latest research progress on the hematotoxicity of OPFRs, covering three core aspects: the toxic effects aspect, which systematically elaborated on the bidirectional interference of OPFRs with coagulation function, their toxic effects on the hematopoietic system, and their disruptive effects on blood biochemical metabolism; the mechanistic analysis aspect, which dissected the multi-pathway, multi-target toxic mechanism network of OPFRs, including common pathways based on oxidative stress and inflammatory responses, the direct and indirect regulation of coagulation function mediated by nuclear receptors and endocrine disruption, and the disturbance of blood cell production at the source through disruption of the hematopoietic microenvironment; and the risk assessment aspect, which, in response to the limitations of traditional methods, focused on the application prospects and core advantages of novel approaches based on structure-activity relationships in filling data gaps and achieving precise risk prediction. This review aims to systematically summarize the research progress on the mechanisms of OPFR-induced hematotoxicity, providing systematic theoretical support for subsequent in-depth mechanistic studies, targeted epidemiological investigations, and the optimization of risk assessment models.

Objective To evaluate the efficacy and safety of different surgical approaches for extracting high-positioned supernumerary teeth in the maxillary anterior midline region.Three surgical methods, the labial approach, the palatal approach, and a longitudinal incision beside the upper lip frenum were compared. Methods A total of 102 patients were recruited from the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the Affiliated Stomatological Hospital of Anhui Medical University between January and September 2024.They were randomly assigned via a random-digit table to three groups:the labial approach group(n=32),the palatal approach group(n=34),and the longitudinal incision beside the upper lip frenum group(n=36).Operation time, bone removal volume,post-operative midfacial swelling, degree of pain, and patient satisfaction across the three groups were recorded and compared. Results The average operation time in the labial approach group((20.50±3.02)min)and the longitudinal incision group((21.66±2.31)min)were both significantly shorter than that in the palatal approach group((29.19±3.40)min).In contrast, the palatal approach group demonstrated markedly lower postoperative swelling and pain scores(P<0.05),along with the highest patient satisfaction,as reflected in the OHIP-14 scale. However, the palatal approach required the greatest bone removal volume,measuring(91.19±9.86)mm3.Conclusion Despite the palatal approach yielding superior outcomes in terms of postoperative pain control, swelling reduction, and patient satisfaction,it necessitated longer operation time and involved greater bone removal.Meanwhile, the labial approach and the longitudinal incision beside the upper lip frenum were comparable in all measured parameters, showing no statistically significant differences. Therefore, when extracting high midline impacted teeth in the maxillary anterior region, the choice of surgical approach should balance safety, minimal invasiveness, and patient satisfaction.

AIM:To investigate the safety and efficacy of selecting implantable collamer lens(ICL)size for postoperative vaults using sulcus to sulcus(STS)and other data measured by ultrasound biomicroscopy(UBM), and to explore the relevant factors affecting vaults.METHODS: Prospective case observational study. A total of 95 patients(188 eyes)with ametropia who underwent ICL size optimization and 90 patients(174 eyes)without ICL size optimization, from January to December 2022 and underwent regular follow-up for 6 mo were selected. Patients were divided into an optimized group and a standard group based on whether ICL size optimization was performed. The patients were followed up at 1 d, 1 wk, 1, 3, and 6 mo, and uncorrected visual acuity(UCVA), best corrected visual acuity(BCVA), refraction state, intraocular pressure(IOP), corneal status, anterior chamber depth(ACD), angle opening, vaults and corneal endothelial cell count were collected.RESULTS: No significant difference in spherical equivalent, UCVA and BCVA was found between the two groups(all P >0.05). The safety index was 1.21±0.24 and 1.19±0.21 at 6 mo for the two groups, respectively, while the efficacy index were 1.18±0.22 and 1.07±0.26. The vaults at 6 mo for the two groups was 407.77±159.31 and 467.16±250.07 μm, respectively. In the optimization group, 92.0% of eyes achieved the desired vaults postoperatively, while 74.1% of eyes in the standard group reached the desired vaults. Both groups exhibited a slight downward trend in vaults over time, with no significant differences between the two groups(F=3.478, P=0.063). However, the standard group experienced 6 eyes of ICL replacement and 2 eyes of ICL removal due to acute angle-closure glaucoma induced by angle closure.CONCLUSION: Selecting the ICL size and determining the implantation orientation based on sulcus to sulcus(STS)and other data measured by UBM provides good safety, efficacy, and predictability for postoperative vaults.

Objective:To understand the current antiviral treatment status and various clinical types of treatment plans in Xiamen City so as to explore ways to improve and optimize the diagnosis and treatment standards for chronic hepatitis B.Methods:A cross-sectional survey method was used to study the antiviral treatment status and treatment plans for chronic hepatitis B patients who visited and were diagnosed in the Department of Infectious Diseases and Hepatology of all tertiary hospitals in Xiamen City at 0:00~23:59 on May 25, 2022.Results:A total of 665 cases were surveyed in this study, with an antiviral treatment rate of 81.2%(540/665). The antiviral treatment rate of patients who accorded with the current guidelines for antiviral treatment indications was 85.8%(507/591). The antiviral treatment rate for 362 outpatients was 72.9%(264/362). Among them, the antiviral treatment rates were 80.1%, 89.3%, and 25.0%(226/282, 25/28, 13/52), respectively, for patients diagnosed with chronic hepatitis B, hepatitis B cirrhosis, and hepatitis B surface antigen-carrying status. The treatment plan for all outpatient patients was mainly oral nucleos(t)ide analogues, accounting for 59.1%(214/362). The antiviral treatment rate for 303 inpatients was 91.1%(276/303). The various clinical types of antiviral therapy rates among all patients were 70%~95%. The antiviral treatment plan for inpatients was mainly based on pegylated interferon alpha treatment, accounting for 72.6%(220/303).Conclusion:Antiviral treatment for chronic hepatitis B in Xiamen City can still be strengthened to meet the current demand for expanding antiviral treatment indications. Antiviral treatment rates and various types of treatment plans differ between outpatients and inpatients; thus, further awareness and acceptance of the goal of improving antiviral therapy, especially in outpatients, and the possibility for a clinical cure based on pegylated interferon alpha treatment are needed to maximize the benefit to more patients.

Objective:To investigate the effects of matrix metalloproteinase 10(MMP10)on the proliferation, migration, invasion, and lymph node metastasis of oral squamous cell carcinoma(OSCC)cells, and to explore the underlying mechanisms. Methods:Gene expression profile data and survival data of head and neck squamous cell carcinoma(HNSCC)tissues and adjacent non-cancerous tissues were downloaded from The Cancer Genome Atlas(TCGA).Protein expression profile data of HNSCC tissues and adjacent non-cancerous tissues were downloaded from the Clinical Proteomic Tumor Analysis Consortium(CPTAC)database, and select the data of OSCC from HNSCC.The data from public database were used to analyze the differences in MMP10 expression at the mRNA and protein level between HNSCC/OSCC tissues and adjacent non-cancerous tissues, and to analyze the impact of MMP10 expression level on the survival rate of HNSCC patients,as well as the impact of human papillomavirus(HPV)on MMP10 gene expression in HNSCC patients.MMP10 expression level in 52 pairs of OSCC tissue samples and adjacent non-cancerous tissue samples(from the First Affiliated Hospital of Fujian Medical University)was measured by real-time quantitative PCR.After silencing MMP10 expression using siRNA(siMMP10-1291 and siMMP10-1336),the effect of MMP10 on the proliferation ability of OSCC cells was detected by CCK-8 assay and colony formation assay. The effects of MMP10 on the migration and invasion abilities of OSCC cells was assessed by wound-healing assay and transwell assay, respectively. To verify the effect of MMP10 knocking down on lymph node metastasis of OSCC cells in vivo,we constructed a nude mouse tongue cancer orthotopic model by shRNA(shMMP10-1291 and shMMP10-1336).Differential expression genes associated with MMP10 were screened from the gene expression profile data of OSCC patients in the TCGA database, and pathway enrichment analysis was performed using the GSEA software to further analyze the correlation between MMP10 and genes from the significantly enriched pathway. Results:Compared with adjacent non-cancerous tissues, the expression level of MMP10 in HNSCC and OSCC tissues was significantly increased(P<0.000 1),and HNSCC patients with high MMP10 expression had a lower survival rate(HR=1.32,P=0.04).HNSCC patients in the HPV-group had higher MMP10 gene expression levels(P<0.000 1),but their survival rate was significantly lower than that of HNSCC patients in the HPV+group(HR=0.48,P=0.004).Downregulating MMP10 expression could inhibit the migration, invasion and lymph node metastasis in vivo of OSCC cells. In OSCC patients, differentially expressed genes associated with MMP10 were significantly enriched in the Wnt signaling pathway(NES=1.505,P=0.029),and multiple genes in the Wnt signaling pathway, including WNT3,WNT3A,WNT5A,and WNT5B,were positively correlated with the expression level of MMP10.Conclusion:MMP10 promotes the invasion, metastasis and lymph node metastasis in vivo of OSCC cells by regulating the Wnt signaling pathway.
