Objective To evaluate the application efficacy of low-dose test method combined with variable helical pitch(VHP)technology in computed tomography angiography(CTA)of lower extremity arteries. Methods Eighty patients with CTA imaging of bilateral lower extremity arteries were selected and divided into group A and group B on average.VHP technology was used in group A,and conventional fixed pitch scanning was used in group B.The objective and subjective image quality of the two groups were compared, and the radiation dose and contrast agent dosage of the two groups were recorded and compared. Results The subjective image quality evaluation of group A was significantly better than that of group B,and the difference was statistically significant(Kappa test,P<0.05).In the objective image quality evaluation, the CT value and signal-to-noise ratio(SNR)value of the common iliac artery, popliteal artery and anterior tibial artery in group A were higher than those in group B at the same level, and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05);The effective dose(ED)value in group A was(6.74±1.20)mSv,and that in group B was(7.93±1.78)mSv(P<0.05).The dosage of contrast agent in group A was significantly lower than that in group B[(73.97±12.15)mL in group A,(82.50±2.61)mL in group B](P<0.05).Conclusion Low-dose test method combined with VHP technology not only can reduce the radiation dose and contrast agent dosage, but also can effectively improve the success rate and image quality of lower extremity arteries examination, which is worthy of clinical application.

Mesh-related visceral complications caused by mesh erosion after tension-free inguinal hernia repair are one kind of rare long-term complications, but they are easily neglected. Interval time from initial hernia repair to mesh-related visceral complications by preperitoneal and laparoscopic repair is short. Rutkow and transabdominal preperitoneal repair have the highest reported rate. Lichtenstein has the longest interval time and the lowest reported rate. The most frequently eroded organs are sigmoid colon, bladder and small intestine. The common clinical manifestations of sigmoid colon erosion are hematochezia, abdominal wall fistula and colitis, hematuria and recurrent urinary tract infection in bladder erosion cases, intestinal obstruction and abdominal wall fistula in intestinal erosion case, sigmoid-bladder fistula and intestinal-bladder fistula in multiple organ erosion cases. Resection or repair of corresponding organs with mesh removal have good efficacies in most patients. The authors summarize and analyze researches on mesh-related visceral complications after tension-free inguinal hernia repair from 1994 to 2021, review their advances, in order to raise awareness of such complications in clinicians.

Objective To explore the phenomenon of gene silence of SLC5A8 in breast cancer. Methods Thirty-two patients suffered with breast cancer, hospitalized from June 2014 to June 2015 in affiliated hospital of Hebei university, were collected with the cancer tissue and normal specimen.Real-time quantitative PCR method was used to detect SLC5A8 gene transcription.Paired t-test and-test were used to anaylsed the results. Results Twenty cases of breast cancer tissues (62.5%) have no SLC5A8 gene transcription product, normal breast tissue adjacent to carcinoma specimens that had no product gene transcription was only five (12.5%).SLC5A8 inactivation rate of cancer tissue was significantly higher than normal tissue adjacent to carcinoma (P < 0.05).The SLC5A8 mRNA transcription level of cancer tissue was significantly lower than the normal (P < 0.05).Conclusion SLC5A8 gene transcription silence is the important events in the process of breast cancer occurrence and development.

Objective To analyze the transcription level of new tumor suppressor gene SLC5A8 mRNA in colorectal cancer tissues. Methods Collected specimens of 23 cases with colorectal cancer and cut out carcinoma tissues and Pericarcinomatous tissue respectively, then used real time fluorescent quantitative PCR (RT-qPCR)to detect the transcription level of gene SLC5A8 mRNA,and the results of carcinoma tissues and pericarcinomatous tissues were analyzed by t test. Results The transcription level of new tumor suppressor gene SLC5A8 mRNA in colorectal cancer tissues is significantly lower than pericarcinomatous tissue (P =0.002).Conclusion The expression of gene SLC5A8 in colorectal cancer tissues is declining or missing, suggesting it has a certain relationship with the incidence of colorectal cancer.
7.Research progress of the new tumor suppressor gene SLC5A8
International Journal of Surgery 2013;40(8):547-550
Current research suggests that SLC5A8 is a new candidate tumor-suppressor gene whose expression is reduced or deficient in human thyroid cancer, esophageal cancer, gastric cancer, colon cancer and acute myeloid leukemia. The gene is in human chromosomes 12q13-23,and encoding proteins that belongs to the members of the family of sodium/glucose transporters. It is sodium-coupled carrier that transfer short chain fatty acid, lactic acid, nicotinic acid and iodide. The exon 1 of GPG island methylation and histone acetylation can make SLC5A8 gene express silenced and promote the occurrence of tumor.of all transporter substrates of SLC5A8 expresses, butyrate, propionate and pyruvate function as histone deacetylase inhibitors and can be mediated apoptosis of many kinds of tumor cells, which may be the mechanism of inhibiting tumor.
