Objective:To summarize Chinese materia medica with estrogen-activity based on data mining and analyze their characteristics.Methods:Literature was retrieved from CNKI, Wanfang Data, Chongqing VIP, CBM, PubMed and Web of Science from the establishment of the databases to June 30, 2024, and Chinese materia medica with estrogenic activity were screened. Excel 2021 and KH Coder 3.0 software were used to perform statistical and network co-occurrence analysis on the efficacy classification of Chinese materia medica, properties, tastes and meridians, screening methods for estrogen activity, and applications.Results:Totally 121 kinds of Chinese materia medica with estrogen-activity were included in total. The efficacy classifications were mostly tonic medicines, heat-clearing medicines and blood circulation promoting drugs. The properties were mainly warm and neutral, the tastes were mainly sweet and bitter, and the meridians were mainly the liver, kidney and spleen meridians. The network co-occurrence analysis of the efficacy classification, properties, tastes and tropism meridians showed that the clustering relationship of tonic medicine-neutral-sweet-liver-kidney was the most obvious. The screening methods mainly included MCF-7 cell proliferation and uterine weight gain experiments. Their applications mainly covered osteoporosis, perimenopausal syndrome, lipid metabolism disorder, and premature ovarian failure, etc.Conclusions:Chinese materia medica with estrogen-activity or their components act on estrogen target cells or organs to exert estrogen-like or antagonistic estrogenic effects. This kind of Chinese materia medica can regulate the body's qi, blood, yin and yang, the function of organs and the fullness of Tiangui, as well as the Chong meridian and Conception Vessel, thus improving human growth and development, reproduction and aging. In the future, it is suggested to explore their effective components, mechanisms, bidirectional effect and safety on the basis of guiding clinical medication with the theory of TCM, combining with modern medical research techniques and evidence-based medical research.

Objective To explore the prognostic impact and clinical application value of therapeutic plasma exchange(TPE)intervention timing and liver injury periodization in patients with exertional heat stroke(EHS).Methods Data of 127 EHS patients from the First Medical Center of the General Hospital of the People′s Liberation Army from January 2011 to December 2023 were collected,then divided into the death group and the survival group based on therapeutic outcomes and into 5 stages according to the dynamic changes of ALT,AST,TBIL and DBIL.According to propensity score matching analysis,11 patients in the survival group and 12 patients in the death group were included in the statistical analysis,and 20 of them were treated with TPE.The changes in indicators and clinical outcomes before and after TPE were observed,in order to evaluate the impact of intervention timing on prognosis.Results Among the 23 patients,14 had no liver injury or could progress to the repair phase,resulting in 3 deaths(with the mortality rate of 21.43%),while 9 patients failed to pro-gress to the repair phase,resulting in 9 deaths(with the mortality rate of 100%),with significant differences(P＜0.05).The mortality rate of the first TPE intervention before the third stage of liver injury was 23.08%(3/13),while that of interven-tion after reaching or exceeding the third stage was 85.71%(6/7),and the difference was statistically significant(P＜0.05).Conclusion TPE should be executed actively in EHS patients combined with liver injury before the third phase to lock its pathological and physiological processes,thereby improving prognosis and reducing mortality.

Objective: To assess the efficacy and safety of combining traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), specifically Chinese herbal medicine (CHM), with Western medicine (WM), compared to WM alone to treat breast cancer endocrine therapy-related osteoporosis (BCET-OP) by meta-analysis. Methods: Thirty-eight randomized controlled trials involving 2170 participants were analyzed. Eight databases were searched for articles published between inception and December 2023. Quality assessment was performed using the Risk of Bias 2 tool. Results: Significant increases were observed in the TCM-WM group in lumbar vertebrae bone mineral density (BMD) (P < .001, mean difference (MD) = 0.07, 95% confidence interval (CI): 0.06 to 0.08), lumbar vertebrae T-score (P = .0005, MD = 0.21, 95%CI: 0.09 to 0.33) and collum femoris BMD (P = .01, MD = 0.10, 95%CI: 0.02 to 0.19). No significant difference was observed between the groups in the collum femoris T-score and estradiol levels. Bone gla-protein levels were significantly increased in the TCM-WM group (P = .0002, MD = 0.52, 95%CI: 0.25 to 0.79). Beta-CrossLaps decreased significantly in the TCM-WM group (P = .0008, MD = −0.10, 95%CI: −0.16 to −0.04). No significant difference was observed between the TCM-WM and WM groups in alkaline phosphatase, in procollagen type I N-terminal propeptide, and in the Kupperman index. The visual analog score (VAS) was decreased in the TCM-WM group compared to the WM group (P < .001, MD = −1.40, 95%CI: −1.94 to −0.87). No significant difference in adverse events was observed between the two groups. Conclusion Combining CHM with WM in patients with BCET-OP significantly improved BMD, T-score, and certain bone turnover markers and reduced the VAS score, indicating potential benefits for bone health and related pain. Adverse event analysis revealed no differences between the groups, supporting the feasibility of the combination therapy. However, further research, particularly in diverse populations, is required.

Objective: To analyze dental caries and associated factors among primary and middle school students in Henan Province, so as to provide reference for dental caries prevention and control. Methods: The data of physical health survey of students in Henan Province in 2019 was analyzed for caries and other related index of students aged 7, 9, 12, 14 years. Chi square test was used to compare detection rate of caries by sex and residence, analysis of variance was used to compare the height between with and without risk of caries, and Logistic regression analysis was conducted for the influencing factors of caries. Results: The caries rate was 56.6%. And the male students (53.4%) was lower than the female students (59.7%). The urban students (53.4%) was lower than the rural students (59.8%)( χ 2=52.31,54.00, P <0.01). The height of the caries free group was higher than that of the caries group, and the height difference was 0.5-1.6 cm; the prevalence of caries decreased with the increase of age( χ 2=992.01, P < 0.01 ). The detection rate of anemia in caries group (16.7%) was higher than that in caries free group (14.9%)( χ 2=7.98, P <0.01). Multivariate Logistic regression analysis showed that age ( OR =0.82) gender ( OR =1.27) urban area and rural ( OR =1.26) overweight ( OR =0.67) and obesity ( OR = 0.67 ) were all influencing factors of dental caries( P <0.01). Conclusion Dental caries is high among primary and middle school students in Henan Province, and dental caries affects their growth, development and nutritional status, and the prevention and control measures of dental caries among primary and middle school students should be strengthened.

Small proteins specifically refer to proteins consisting of less than 100 amino acids translated from small open reading frames (sORFs), which were usually missed in previous genome annotation. The significance of small proteins has been revealed in current years, along with the discovery of their diverse functions. However, systematic annotation of small proteins is still insufficient. SmProt was specially developed to provide valuable information on small proteins for scientific community. Here we present the update of SmProt, which emphasizes reliability of translated sORFs, genetic variants in translated sORFs, disease-specific sORF translation events or sequences, and remarkably increased data volume. More components such as non-ATG translation initiation, function, and new sources are also included. SmProt incorporated 638,958 unique small proteins curated from 3,165,229 primary records, which were computationally predicted from 419 ribosome profiling (Ribo-seq) datasets or collected from literature and other sources from 370 cell lines or tissues in 8 species (Homo sapiens, Mus musculus, Rattus norvegicus, Drosophila melanogaster, Danio rerio, Saccharomyces cere-visiae, Caenorhabditis elegans, and Escherichia coli). In addition, small protein families identified from human micro-biomes were also collected. All datasets in SmProt are free to access, and available for browse, search, and bulk downloads at http://bigdata.ibp.ac.cn/SmProt/.

Objective:To investigate the clinical effect on ultrasound-guided vascular access-interventional therapy of hemodialysis in day surgery mode.Methods:Hemodialysis patients with vascular access dysfunction who underwent ultrasound-guided interventional therapy in the First Affiliated Hospital of Xi'an Jiaotong University from September 1, 2018 to October 31, 2020 were retrospectively analyzed. Demographic and clinical data were collected by electronic medical record system and telephone follow-up. Kaplan-Meier method was used to analyze the patency rate of vascular access.Results:A total of 421 cases of ultrasound-guided vascular access intervention were performed in 269 patients. The technical success rates of stenosis, chronic occlusion and acute occlusion lesion were 98.8%, 90.6% and 86.4%, respectively, and 406 cases (96.4%) of 246 patients were clinically successful. The postoperative brachial artery blood flow was 821(627, 1 029) ml/min, which was significantly higher than 309(202, 453) ml/min before the operation ( Z=-13.547, P<0.001). No serious complications occurred during and after the operation. At 6, 12, 18 and 24 months after operation, the primary patency rate was 74%, 59%, 48% and 45%, respectively, the assisted primary patency rate was 94%, 91%, 88% and 82%, and the secondary patency rate was 96%, 93%, 91% and 86%. Compared with the conventional inpatient surgery mode, the total cost of the day surgery mode was significantly reduced [12 067(10 051, 13 198) yuan vs 14 986(12 411, 20 643) yuan, Z=-13.185, P<0.001], and the hospital stay was significantly shortened [5.1(3.5, 6.9) h vs 73.4(31.6, 146.6) h, Z=-13.348, P<0.001]. Conclusion:It is safe and effective to perform interventional therapy for vascular access malfunction under ultrasound in day surgery mode, which can save cost and time of hospitalization, and can be carried out in hospitals with relevant conditions.

OBJECTIVE：To estab lish the fingerprint ，analyze the monosaccharide composition and content ，investigate the inhibitory effects of the polysaccharide from Desmodium styracifolium on α-glucosidase in vitro . METHODS ：Polysaccharide from D. styracifolium was prepared by water extraction and ethanol precipitation. After hydrolyzed by TFA and derived by PMP ，HPLC method was adopted to establish the fingerprint （using glucose peak as reference ），and analyze the constituent and content of monosaccharide. The content determination was performed on Phenomenex Luna C 18 column with mobile phase consisted of acetonitrile-0.05 mol/L potassium phosphate （pH adjusted to 6.8 with sodium hydroxide ）in gradient elution at the flow rate of 0.8 mL/min. The detection wavelength was set at 250 nm，and column temperature was set at 30 ℃. The sample size was 10 μL. Using acarbose as control ，PNPG assay was used to investigate the α-glucosidase inhibitory activity of polysaccharide from D. styracifolium. RESULTS ：There were 9 common peaks in HPLC fingerprints of 18 batches of samples ，and the similarity of 15 batches of samples was higher than 0.90. Totally 7 peaks were identified as mannose ，rhamnose，galacturonic acid ，glucose， galactose，xylose and arabinose. The contents of rhamnose ，galacturonic acid ，glucose，galactose and arabinose were 0.471-2.092， 1.379-8.919，2.560-35.679，1.194-6.905，0.566-4.158 mg/g，respectively. Based on rhamnose ，the molar ratios of the other four monosaccharides were 1.58-4.07，2.26-19.95，2.20-4.21 and 1.31-2.86，respectively. The inhibitory activity of polysaccharide from D. styracifolium on α-glucosidase increased with the increase of dose ，and the half inhibitory concentrations of it was 0.70 mg/mL， lower than 7.76 mg/mL of acarbose （positive control ）. CONCLUSIONS ：Glucose is the main component of D. styracifolium polysaccharide in different batches ，and the contents of monosaccharides are different. The polysaccharide from D. styracifolium have significant inhibitory activity on α-glucosidase，which is better than that of acarbose.

The rats were then randomized 8 days later into model group (n=10), domperidone group (n=10), and moxibustion group(n=10) and treated with physiologic saline, domperidone suspension, and moxibustion at Shenque (CV8), respectively. Gastric antral myoelectric activities of the rats were observed and peripheral blood levels of TNF-α, IL-6, and T lymphocyte subpopulation were determined.

RESULTSGastric antral myoelectric activities in rats receiving moxibustion were stronger than those in the model group (P<0.05) but comparable with those in domperidone group (P>0.05). TNF-α and IL-6 level were decreased significantly and T lymphocyte subpopulations increased significantly in moxibustion group compared with those in the model and domperidone groups (P<0.05).

CONCLUSIONMoxibustion at Shenque (CV8) can promote the recovery of gastrointestinal functions in rats undergoing gastric perforation repair possibly by enhancing gastrointestinal electric activity, suppressing inflammation, and improving the cellular immune function, and can therefore serve as a simple and effective adjuvant therapy during the perioperative period.
