1.Research progress of visual quality after implantable collamer lens V4c implantation

Compared to other refractive surgeries, the implantable collamer lens(ICL)implantation procedure has become one of the most popular surgical options in refractive surgery. ICL surgery offers advantages such as reversibility, high-definition visual outcomes, and preservation of the corneal anatomical structure. The V4c model, which features a central port, is currently the most widely used in clinical practice and eliminates the need for peripheral iridotomy during the perioperative period. Although excellent uncorrected visual acuity can be achieved postoperatively, some patients may experience visual disturbances in the early postoperative period, such as halo and glare, which may affect visual comfort particularly under low-light conditions. This article reviews visual quality metrics after ICL V4c implantation, including higher-order aberrations(HOA), modulation transfer function(MTF), and contrast sensitivity(CS), along with influencing factors, and discusses potential relative deficits in postoperative visual quality and their underlying mechanisms.

3.Analysis of mental health status potential categories and related factors among primary and secondary school students in western Yunnan Province

Objective:
To investigate the mental health status and related factors among primary and secondary school students in western Yunnan Province, so ao to provide scientific evidences for advancing mental health education.
Methods:
In June 2024, a stratified cluster sampling method was employed to select 4 584 students from 18 schools across Diqing Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Lincang City and Baoshan City three regions in western Yunnan Province. The Mental Health Test (MHT) was used for assessment. Latent class analysis (LCA) and Logistic regression were applied for data classification and related factor analysis respectively.
Results:
The overall positive detection rate of MHT was 11.81%, with a mean total score of 40.50±19.25. The predominant issues were learning anxiety (58.4%), hypersensitivity tendency (31.1%), and self blame tendency (23.1%). LCA categorized students into four groups:severe psychological problems group (74.4% detection rate), learning anxiety hypersensitivity group ( 16.4 %), learning anxiety physical symptoms group (9.2%), and healthy group (0). Logistic regression revealed that compared with the healthy group, the severe problems group showed higher risks among females ( OR =3.01), junior/senior high school students ( OR =1.88/4.02), and those with authoritarian parenting ( OR =3.54); the anxiety hypersensitivity group had higher risks for females ( OR =1.87), senior high students ( OR =1.54), boarders ( OR =1.31), and authoritarian parenting recipients ( OR = 1.85 ); the anxiety physical symptoms group demonstrated increased risks among females ( OR =2.22), senior high students ( OR =2.58), and authoritarian parenting recipients ( OR =2.74), while lower risks were observed for students with parent/grandparent guardians ( OR =0.38) and non only children ( OR =0.58) (all P <0.05).
Conclusions
Mental health problems are prominent among students in western Yunnan, with gender, grade level, boarding status, guardian type, and parenting style being key determinants. Recommendations include strengthening mental health education, prioritizing left behind children s psychological well being and promoting healthy development.
4.Clinical and genetic analysis of a Chinese pedigree with autosomal recessive familial intrahepatic cholestasis type Ⅰ due to a novel variant of ATP8B1 gene

Objective:To investigate the clinical and genetic features of a Chinese pedigree with Progressive familial intrahepatic cholestasis (PFIC) and explore its genotype-phenotype correlation.Methods:A patient with PFIC diagnosed at Xinxiang Central Hospital in 2023 was selected as the study subject. The patient was subjected to abdominal magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and painless gastroscopy. Peripheral blood samples were collected from the patient and his parents for the extraction of genomic DNA and trio-whole exome sequencing (trio-WES). Candidate variants were verified by Sanger sequencing. This study has been approved by the Medical Ethics Committee of Xinxiang Hospital (Ethics No. 2023-241).Results:MRI scan showed that the patient had significantly enlarged liver and spleen. WES revealed that he has harbored compound heterozygous variants of the ATP8B1 gene, including a c. 1710_1711insCCTC (p.A571Pfs*12) frameshifting variant in exon 16 and a c. 2989G>A (p.V997M) missense variant in exon 24, which were respectively inherited from his father and mother, and rated as pathogenic (PVS1+ PM2_Supporting+ PM3+ PP1) and likely pathogenic (PM2_Supporting+ PM3+ PP1) based on the guidelines from the American College of Medical Genetics and Genomics (ACMG). Conclusion:WES can clarify the genetic etiology of patients with speed and accuracy, and facilitate clinical decision-making. The detection of pathogenic variants has provided a basis for clinical diagnosis and enriched the mutational spectrum of the ATP8B1 gene.
5.Differences in inflammatory indicators and prognostic factors between pulmonary and extrapulmonary ARDS caused by sepsis

Objective To investigate the influencing factors of pulmonary and extrapulmonary acute re-spiratory distress syndrome(ARDS)caused by sepsis.Methods A total of 126 patients with ARDS admitted to the Department of Critical Care Medicine,General Hospital of Ningxia Medical University,from January 2022 to June 2024 were selected.Patients were divided into pulmonary ARDS and extrapulmonary ARDS groups based on the etiology of ARDS.General data,inflammatory indicators,and prognostic outcomes were compared between the two groups.COX regression analysis was used to identify prognostic factors.Results A-mong the 126 patients,72 were diagnosed with pulmonary ARDS and 54 with extrapulmonary ARDS.The pulmonary ARDS group had significantly lower SOFA scores,fewer organ dysfunctions,a lower incidence of arrhythmia,shorter mechanical ventilation duration,higher Murray scores,and higher Charlson Comorbidity Index(CCI)compared to the extrapulmonary ARDS group(P<0.05).Inflammatory markers,including pro-calcitonin(PCT),C-reactive protein(CRP),interleukin(IL)-4,IL-6,IL-10,and tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α),were significantly lower in the pulmonary ARDS group,while interferon-γ(INF-γ)levels were higher(P<0.05).For pulmonary ARDS,CCI and TNF-α were identified as independent risk factors for prog-nosis(P<0.05),with the combination of CCI and TNF-α yielding the highest predictive accuracy(AUC=0.81,95%CI:0.71-0.91).For extrapulmonary ARDS,CCI and CRP were independent risk factors(P<0.05),and their combination achieved the highest predictive performance(AUC=0.91,95%CI:0.84-0.98).Conclusion Inflammatory profiles between pulmonary and extrapulmonary ARDS caused by sepsis are different.CCI and TNF-α are independent risk factors for mortality in pulmonary ARDS,while CCI and CRP are independent risk factors in extrapulmonary ARDS.

There are differences in the images of the same visual object projected onto the retinas of the two eyes.Stereopsis is the perceptual ability of the brain to discern three-dimensional depth from these two-dimensional images with binocular disparities,enabling humans to accurately perceive the relative distance between objects and assess their relative depth in space.Panum's fusional area(PFA)encompasses the depth range,including the horopter where the visual object lies and the areas in front of and behind it,within which fused single vision can be achieved.Visual function within the PFA is closely related to the formation of depth perception.The monocular visual direction,the depth of the binocular horopter position,and the measurement methods and models for the theoretical horopter and empirical horopter are all closely asso-ciated with the characteristics of depth perception within the PFA range.This holds significant importance for studying the construction process of stereopsis.
