ObjectiveTo investigate the present situation of input, output, outcome and impact of all registered community-based rehabilitation stations in Inner Mongolia in China, and analyze how the input predict the output, outcome and impact. MethodsFrom March 1st to April 30th, 2025, a questionnaire survey was conducted on all registered community-based rehabilitation stations in Inner Mongolia, covering four dimensions: input, output, outcome and impact. A total of 1 365 questionnaires were distributed. The input included four items: laws and policies, human resources, equipment and facilities, and rehabilitation information management. The output included two items: technical paths and benefits/effectiveness. The outcome included three items: coverage rates, rehabilitation interventions and functional results. The impact included two items: health and sustainability. Each item contained several questions, all of which were described in a positive way. Each question was scored from one to five. A lower score indicated that the situation of the community-based rehabilitation station was more in line with the content described in the question. Regression analysis was performed using the total score of each item of input dimension as independent variables, and the total scores of the output, outcome and impact dimensions as dependent variables. ResultsA total of 1 262 valid questionnaires were collected. The mean values of input, output, outcome and impact of community-based rehabilitation stations were 1.827 to 1.904, with coefficient of variation of 45.892% to 49.239%. The regression analysis showed that, rehabilitation information management, human resources, and laws and policies significantly predicted the output dimension (R² = 0.910, P < 0.001). Meanwhile, all four items in the input dimension predicted both the outcome (R² = 0.850, P < 0.001) and impact dimensions (R² = 0.833, P < 0.001). ConclusionInput, output, outcome and impact of the community-based rehabilitation stations in Inner Mongolia were generally in line with the content of the questions, although some imbalances were observed. Additionally, the input of community-based rehabilitation stations could significantly predict their output, outcome and impact.

In order to investigate the role of sRNA OxyS in the pathogenicity of Salmonella typhi-murium infection, the OxyS gene deletion strain ATCC25241 △OxyS and the back-complemented strain ATCC25241 △OxyS/OxyS of Salmonella typhimurium ATCC25241 were constructed by using λRed homologous recombination technique. We investigated the effect of OxyS deletion on the biological characteristics and pathogenicity of Salmonella typhimurium ATCC25241.The re-sults showed that the deletion of OxyS did not affect the growth rate, the ability of biofilm forma-tion,and the ability of adhesion, invasion and intracellular survival of Salmonella typhimurium, but significantly reduced the motility of Salmonella typhimurium as well as its ability to survive in alkaline and oxidative environments. The results of mouse infection test showed that OxyS dele-tion caused a significant decrease in the virulence of Salmonella typhimurium in mice, and toxicity is reduced obviously. The qPCR results also showed that OxyS deletion could lead to changes in the transcript levels of a number of virulence-related genes of Salmonella typhimurium such as pipB,orf245,csgA,invH,tatA,sipA,sipB,and so on.The above results indicate that OxyS gene affects the biological characteristics and pathogenicity of Salmonella typhimurium and is an important virulence regulator of Salmonella typhimurium.

BACKGROUND:Monounsaturated fatty acids are mostly recognized as a fatty acid with beneficial effects on human health, and some studies have suggested that they may contribute to non-inflammatory pain at multiple sites in the body.OBJECTIVE:To investigate the effect of monounsaturated fatty acids on the incidence of low back pain and all-cause mortality, thereby providing potential biomarkers and intervention strategies for low back pain management and prevention.METHODS:A Mendelian randomization method was used to analyze the potential association of monounsaturated fatty acids on the incidence of low back pain and all-cause mortality in conjunction with large sample data from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey(NHANES)database. Results were validated and sensitivity analyzed using multiple statistical models(e.g.,inverse variance weighting,MR-Egger regression, simple median, weighted median, and weighted median)to enhance the reliability of causal inferences. In the NHANES study, multivariate Cox proportional risk regression models were used to assess the independent predictive values of different fatty acid ratios and to control for confounders.Potential nonlinear relationships between monounsaturated fatty acids and all-cause mortality were assessed using Kaplan-Meier curves,log-rank tests, and restricted cubic spline curves.RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:Elevated monounsaturated fatty acids have been found to be associated with a significantly higher risk of low back pain, suggesting an unfavorable effect of this fatty acid. Also, monounsaturated fatty acids may increase all-cause mortality in patients with low back pain. This provides new insights into the potential effects of monounsaturated fatty acids on low back pain and all-cause mortality, and provides a scientific basis for nutritional interventions for low back pain. The results support the use of dietary modification as one of the strategies for the prevention and management of low back pain in the European population, but further studies are needed to explore the specific biological mechanisms and potential for clinical application, thereby improving guidance for the prevention and treatment of diseases in China.

Objective:To evaluate the levels and source of cadmium exposure by dietary pathway among middle-aged and elderly people ≥40 in cadmium-contaminated areas of China. Methods:A total of 7 193 people aged 40-89 years from four typical cadmium-contaminated areas in China were selected as the study subjects. Food Frequency Questionnaire (FFQ), Total Diet Study (TDS) and a 3-day-24-hour dietary recall survey were conducted. Dietary cadmium intake and food sources through dietary pathways were assessed based on cadmium content in foods, consumption amounts and intake frequencies. Results:The mean age of the participants was 63.39±12.21 years, with 50.05% being males. The average monthly dietary cadmium intake was 7.39 μg/(kg·BW). Staple foods and vegetables were the primary sources of dietary cadmium intake, accounting for 57.51% and 32.48%, respectively. The monthly dietary cadmium intake in all surveyed regions did not exceed the Provisional Tolerable Monthly Intake (PTMI) recommended by the Joint FAO/WHO Expert Committee on Food Additives (JECFA).Conclusion:The monthly dietary cadmium intake among middle-aged and elderly people in cadmium-contaminated areas of China is relatively low, with the risk remaining at an acceptable level. Staple foods and vegetables are the most significant contributors to dietary cadmium intake.

Objective:To explore the relationship between urinary cadmium levels and thyroid hormone levels in people aged 40-89 years old in selected areas of China. Methods:Based on the "Investigation of the Impact of Soil Quality of Agricultural Land on Human Health in Typical Areas" project from October 2019 to August 2020, a multi-stage stratified random sampling method was used to include 6 588 middle-aged and older adults aged 40-89. Demographic characteristics, dietary frequency and disease status were collected through the questionnaire and physical examination. Urinary cadmium and urinary creatinine were detected by random midstream urine. Fasting venous blood was collected for the detection of Triiodothyronine (T3) and Thyroxine (T4). The linear mixed effects model was used to explore the association of urine cadmium levels with thyroid hormone levels. Its dose-response relationship was explored by using the restricted cubic spline. Results:The age of the subjects was (63.48±12.18) years, with males accounting for 51.28%. The M ( Q 1,Q 3) of urinary cadmium level, T3 and T4 was 2.48 (1.36, 4.42) μg/g·creatinine, (1.96±0.51) nmol/L and (113.75±29.11) nmol/L, respectively. The linear mixed effects model showed that the changes of T3 and T4 were 0.027 (0.009, 0.044) nmol/L and 2.019 (1.084, 2.953) nmol/L for each one-unit increase (natural logarithm transformed) of urinary cadmium. The restricted cubic spline showed that there was a positive nonlinear association between urinary cadmium and T3 as well as T4 (all Pnonlinear<0.05). Conclusion:In selected areas of China, the urinary cadmium level of middle-aged and older adults aged 40-89 years is positively associated with T3 and T4.
