Qualitative and quantitative analysis of 2-(2-phenylethyl) chromones in sodium chloride(NaCl)-treated suspension cells of Aquilaria sinensis was conducted by UPLC-Q-Exactive-MS and UPLC-QQQ-MS/MS. Both analyses were performed on a Waters T3 column(2.1 mm×50 mm, 1.8 μm) with 0.1% formic acid aqueous solution(A)-acetonitrile(B) as mobile phases at gradient elution. MS data were collected by electrospray ionization in positive ion mode. Forty-seven phenylethylchromones was identified from NaCl-treated suspension cell samples of A. sinensis using UPLC-Q-Exactive-MS, including 22 flindersia-type 2-(2-phenylethyl) chromones and their glycosides, 10 5,6,7,8-tetrahydro-2-(2-phenylethyl) chromones and 15 mono-epoxy or diepoxy-5,6,7,8-tetrahydro-2-(2-phenylethyl) chromones. Additionally, 25 phenylethylchromones were quantitated by UPLC-QQQ-MS/MS. Overall, the rapid and efficient qualitative and quantitative analysis of phenylethylchromones in NaCl-treated suspension cells of A. sinensis by two LC-MS techniques, provides an important reference for the yield of phenylethylchromones in Aquilariae Lignum Resinatum using in vitro culture and other biotechnologies.

Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) and western medicine have their respective advantages and limitations in the diagnosis and treatment of common otorhinolaryngology head and neck diseases. Although the integrated TCM and western medicine exhibits definite curative effects, there is no consensus on the otorhinolaryngology head and neck diseases responding specifically to TCM or integrated TCM and western medicine, as well as the diagnosis and treatment schemes. The China Association of Chinese Medicine (CACM) thus organized the otorhinolaryngology head and neck specialists of both TCM and western medicine to discuss the etiology, pathogenesis, and clinical diagnosis and treatment methods of common otorhinolaryngology head and neck diseases with the results of multiple clinical trials taken into account. The acute pharyngitis, chronic pharyngolaryngitis, paraesthesia pharyngis, hysterical aphasia, allergic rhinitis, subjective tinnitus, and otogenic vertigo were confirmed to respond specifically to TCM or integrated TCM and western medicine. Then a mutually agreed diagnosis and treatment scheme and recommendation with integrated TCM and western medicine was formulated as a reference for clinical practice, thus benefiting more patients.

Objective:
To study the effects of serum and its components on biofilm formation of Pseudomonas aeruginosa.
Methods:
96 well microplates combined with crystal violet staining was used to detect the effects of serum, albumin and transferrin on biofilm formation of Pseudomonas aeruginosa. And confocal laser scanning microscope was used to observe the morphology of the biofilm.
Results:
The biofilm of PAO1 was significantly enhanced from 2.26±0.42 to 3.42±0.08(t=4.71, p<0.01)with horse serum and but reduced to 0.807±0.10(t=4.71,p<0.01) by human serum; And the total biofilm biomass was significantly increased and clump-changed with horse serum, but decreased and scattered in distribution by human serum. Besides, horse serum could also enhance the biofilm formation of part of the clinical isolates of Pseudomonas aeruginosa, however, human serum could inhibit the biofilm formation of all of the clinical isolates. And 2.5g/L albumin could significantly enhance the biofilm of PAO1 from 1.96±0.22 to 2.54±0.18(t=3.55,p<0.05), but 5 g/L could reduce the biofilm of PAO1 from 1.85±0.36 to 0.84±0.24(t=4.03,p<0.05).
Conclusion
Horse serum and albumin could significantly promote the biofilm formation of Pseudomonas aeruginosa, but human serum and transferrin could decrease its biofilm formation.

OBJECTIVETo study the effect of chronic noise exposure on expression of N-methyl-D-aspartic acid receptor 2B (NR2B) and tau phosphorylation in hippocampus of rats.
METHODSTwenty-four male SD rats were divided in control group and chronic noise exposure group. NR2B expression and tau phosphorylation in hippocampus of rats were detected after chronic noise exposure (100 dB SPL white noise, 4 h/d×30d) and their mechanisms underlying neuronal apoptosis in hippocampus of rats with TUNEL staining.
RESULTSThe NR2B expression decreased significantly after chronic noise exposure which resulted in tau hyperphosphorylation and neural apoptosis in hippocampus of rats. Immunohistochemistry showed that the tau hyperphosphorylation was most prominent in dentate gyrus (DG) and CA1 region of rat hippocampus.
CONCLUSIONThe abnormality of neurotransmitter system, especially Glu and NR2B containing NMDA receptor, and tau hyperphosphorylation in hippocampus of rats, may play a role in chronic noise-induced neural apoptosis and cognition impairment.
