Chinese Journal of School Health 2026;47(6):795-798
Objective:
To examine the prevalence of e-cigarette use and associated factors among primary and secondary school students in Pudong New Area, Shanghai, and to explore the pathways linking harm perception of e-cigarettes, interpersonal social influence, and attitudes toward e-cigarette use with experimentation behavior, in order to provide scientific basis for further optimizing the prevention and control strategies of e-cigarette among adolescents.
Methods:
From September to October 2025, a multi stage cluster random sampling method was used to select 5 144 primary and secondary school students aged 8-19 years from 47 primary and secondary schools in Pudong New Area, Shanghai, to conduct an anonymous questionnaire survey. The questionnaire collected information on e-cigarette use, harm perception of e-cigarette, interpersonal social influence, and attitudes toward e-cigarette use. The Chi-square test was applied to analyze the differences in cigarette and e-cigarette use behavior among primary and secondary school students with different demographic characteristics. Structural equation modeling (SEM) was constructed using Mplus 8.3 software, and the bootstrap method was utilized to test the mediating effects.
Results:
The reported rates of cigarette experimentation, e-cigarette experimentation, and current e-cigarette use among primary and secondary school students were 1.85%, 2.10%, and 0.70%, respectively. Higher reporting rates of e-cigarette experimentation were observed among boys (2.82%), secondary school students aged 16-19 (3.39%), senior high school students (3.05%), and those with weekly pocket money >100 yuan ( 6.11% ) ( χ 2=11.67, 8.61, 8.00, 54.18, all P <0.05). Structural pathway analysis results demonstrated that e-cigarette harm perception positively predicted interpersonal social influence ( β =0.61) and e-cigarette use attitude ( β = 0.53 ), and interpersonal social influence ( β =0.65) and e-cigarette use attitude ( β =0.25) further promoted e-cigarette experimentation behavior among primary and secondary school students (all P <0.01), with interpersonal social influence playing a major mediating role (indirect effect=0.40).
Conclusions
E-cigarette experimentation behavior among primary and secondary school students in Pudong New Area is jointly influenced by multiple psychosocial factors. Intervention strategies should strengthen interpersonal social factors such as family and peers on the basis of health education, thereby constructing a comprehensive prevention and control strategy for e-cigarette use among primary and secondary school students.

China emerges as a major country in nuclear energy development and the application of nuclear and radiologic technology. The diagnosis and treatment of acute radiation syndrom (ARS) caused by external irradiation represent a core function in the country′s medical rescue of nuclear and radiological emergencies. Clinically, ARS manifests hematopoietic, gastrointestinal, cutaneous, and central nervous system syndromes, with specific clinical manifestations, signs, severity, and prognosis strongly correlated with radiation dose. China has established a number of national and provincial centers for treating radiation-induced damage. Nevertheless, most medical staff have limited experience in ARS treatment. This consensus presents a summary of recent experience in treating ARS of China. In combination with recommendations from international organizations such as the World Health Organization (WHO), this consensus proposes key evidence of critical clinical issues of ARS, covering all links in the rescue of external irradiation-induced ARS. Initially, clinical diagnosis, syndromes, and severe degrees should be determined based on clinical symptoms and dose estimates. It is necessary to normalize clinical treatment measures for hematopoietic recovery, gastrointestinal injury treatment, infection control, symptomatic treatment, and multi-organ function preservation. To this end, this consensus offers cautions. This consensus provides principles of treatment with traditional Chinese medicine, psychological intervention, and follow-up. Additionally, it highlights multidisciplinary collaboration. It is recommended that this consensus be applied in relevant treatment centers.

Objective:To explore the relationship between peripheral blood microRNA-29b (miR-29b), fibroblast growth factor 23 (FGF23), adiponectin (ADP) and disease progression as well as bone metabolism disorders in patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD).Methods:A total of 106 CKD patients diagnosed in the Department of Nephrology, the First People′s Hospital of Hefei from February 2022 to February 2024 were selected as the CKD group, and 103 healthy subjects who underwent physical examination during the same period were selected as the control group. Differences in peripheral blood miR-29b, ADP, FGF23, serum calcium, serum phosphorus, alkaline phosphatase (ALP), 25-hydroxyvitamin D, and renal function levels between the two groups were compared. The CKD group was stratified according to CKD stages, and the above indicators were compared. Simple linear correlation analysis was used to analyze the correlation between miR-29b, ADP, FGF23 and bone metabolism indicators. Results:The levels of peripheral blood ADP and FGF23 in the CKD group were higher than those in the control group, while the level of miR-29b was lower, with statistically significant differences (all P<0.05). The levels of serum phosphorus, ALP, serum creatinine, and 24-hour urinary protein in the CKD group were higher than those in the control group, while the levels of serum calcium and 25-hydroxyvitamin D were lower, with statistically significant differences (all P<0.05). Among the 106 CKD patients, there were 8 cases in CKD stage 1, 22 in stage 2, 38 in stage 3, 32 in stage 4, and 6 in stage 5. The levels of peripheral blood ADP and FGF23 in patients with CKD stages 4-5 were higher than those in patients with CKD stages 1-3, while the level of miR-29b was lower, with statistically significant differences (all P<0.05). The levels of serum phosphorus, ALP, serum creatinine, and 24-hour urinary protein in patients with CKD stages 4-5 were higher than those in patients with CKD stages 1-3, while the levels of serum calcium and 25-hydroxyvitamin D were lower, with statistically significant differences (all P<0.05). In CKD patients, peripheral blood miR-29b was positively correlated with serum calcium and 25-hydroxyvitamin D (all P<0.05), and negatively correlated with ALP ( P<0.05). Peripheral blood ADP in CKD patients was negatively correlated with serum calcium ( P<0.05) and positively correlated with ALP ( P<0.05). Peripheral blood FGF23 in CKD patients was negatively correlated with serum calcium ( P<0.05) and positively correlated with ALP ( P<0.05). Conclusions:The levels of peripheral blood ADP and FGF23 in CKD patients are significantly increased, and the level of miR-29b is significantly decreased, which are related to disease progression and bone metabolism disorders in CKD patients.

Chronic prostatitis/chronic pelvic pain syndrome (CP/CPPS) is a complex disease that is often accompanied by mental health disorders. However, the potential mechanisms underlying the heterogeneous clinical presentation of CP/CPPS remain uncertain. This study analyzed widely targeted metabolomic data of expressed prostatic secretions (EPS) and plasma to reveal the underlying pathological mechanisms of CP/CPPS. A total of 24 CP/CPPS patients from The Second Nanning People's Hospital (Nanning, China), and 35 asymptomatic control individuals from First Affiliated Hospital of Guangxi Medical University (Nanning, China) were enrolled. The indicators related to CP/CPPS and psychiatric symptoms were recorded. Differential analysis, coexpression network analysis, and correlation analysis were performed to identify metabolites that were specifically altered in patients and associated with various phenotypes of CP/CPPS. The crucial links between EPS and plasma were further investigated. The metabolomic data of EPS from CP/CPPS patients were significantly different from those from control individuals. Pathway analysis revealed dysregulation of amino acid metabolism, lipid metabolism, and the citrate cycle in EPS. The tryptophan metabolic pathway was found to be the most significantly altered pathway associated with distinct CP/CPPS phenotypes. Moreover, the dysregulation of tryptophan and tyrosine metabolism and elevation of oxidative stress-related metabolites in plasma were found to effectively elucidate the development of depression in CP/CPPS. Overall, metabolomic alterations in the EPS and plasma of patients were primarily associated with oxidative damage, energy metabolism abnormalities, neurological impairment, and immune dysregulation. These alterations may be associated with chronic pain, voiding symptoms, reduced fertility, and depression in CP/CPPS. This study provides a local-global perspective for understanding the pathological mechanisms of CP/CPPS and offers potential diagnostic and therapeutic targets.
