Biomolecular condensates are formed through phase separation of biomacromolecules such as proteins and RNAs. These condensates exhibit liquid-like properties that can futher transition into more stable material states. They form complex internal structures via multivalent weak interactions, enabling precise spatiotemporal regulations. However, the use of inconsistent and non-standardized terminology has become increasingly problematic, hindering academic exchange and the dissemination of scientific knowledge. Therefore, it is necessary to discuss the terminology related to biomolecular condensates in order to clarify concepts, promote interdisciplinary cooperation, enhance research efficiency, and support the healthy development of this field.

A high performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry(HPLC-MS/MS) method was established for simultaneous determination of seven characteristic components from the active fraction of Alpiniae Officinarum Rhizoma in rat plasma, including galangin, kaempferol, kaempferide, pinocembrin, 1,7-diphenyl-4-en-3-heptanone, 5-hydroxy-7-(4-hydroxy-3-methoxyphenyl)-1-phenyl-3-heptanone(DHPA), and 7-(4-hydroxy-3-methoxyphenyl)-1-phenyl-4-en-3-heptanone(DPHB). The new developed HPLC-MS/MS method was applied to study the pharmacokinetics of the 7 characteristic components in rats with Helicobacter pylori gastritis. A Waters Sunfire C_(18) column(2.1 mm×150 mm, 3.5 μm) was used. The acetonitrile-aqueous solution(containing 0.1% formic acid) was adopted as the mobile phase for gradient elution. Seven components and internal standard(chlorogenic acid) were separated within 12 min. Mass spectrometric detection was performed in multiple reaction monitoring(MRM) mode using electrospray ionization(ESI) source with fast switching between positive and negative ions. The method was verified by specificity, linearity, precision, accuracy, recovery, matrix effect, and stability and met the requirements of pharmacokinetic study on the 7 components in rat plasma. Pharmacokinetic results showed that the average peak time(T_(max)) of the 7 components was 0.31-2.19 h, their elimination half-life(t_(1/2)) was 5.26-16.65 h, and the average residence time(MRT) was 6.29-31.03 h after the oral administration of the active fraction of Alpiniae Officinarum Rhizoma to rats with H. pylori gastritis. The plasma exposure levels of galangin and DHPA were higher than those of the other components. The concentration-time curves of four detected flavonoids showed obvious double peaks. This study elucidated the pharmacokinetic characteristics of 7 characteristic components from the active fraction of Alpiniae Officinarum Rhizoma in rats with H. pylori gastritis, providing a scientific basis for the identification of the pharmacodynamic substances of Alpiniae Officinarum Rhizoma for treatment of H. pylori gastritis and the clinical application of Alpiniae Officinarum Rhizoma in the prevention and treatment of H. pylori gastritis.

Nodal marginal zone B-cell lymphoma(NMZL),the least common subtype of marginal zone lymphoma,represents a low-grade malignancy arising from the marginal zone of lymph node follicles,composed of small B-cells with an inert non-Hodgkin lymphoma nature.It accounts for 1.5% to 1.8% of all non-Hodgkin lymphomas and 10% of all marginal zone lymphomas.The low incidence and lack of typical clinical and pathological features pose a challenge to the diagnosis and clinical management of NMZL.In this article,we reported the diagnosis and treatment of a case of NMZL located in the parapharyngeal space of the left neck and reviewed the relevant literature from both domestic and international sources.We summarized the clinical manifestations,histopathological features,immunohistochemical characteristics,imaging features,diagnosis and treatment modalities,and prognosis of NMZL.

Objective To observe the therapeutic effect and mechanism of Baoyuan Decoction for chronic heart failure model rat.Methods SD rats were randomly divided into blank group,model group,Baoyuan Decoction group,Captopril group,Baoyuan Decoction+CCT020312[protein kinase R-like endoplasmic reticulum kinase(PERK)activator]group,15 rats in each group.Except for the blank group,the rats in the other groups were induced by Adriamycin to construct a chronic heart failure model.After corresponding drug intervention,cardiac function indexes[left ventricular end-diastolic diameter(LVEDD),left ventricular ejection fraction(LVEF),left ventricular fractional shortening(LVFS),brain natriuretic peptide(BNP),cardiac troponin I(cTnI)],inflammation-related factors[tumor necrosis factor α(TNF-α),interleukin 1β(IL-1β)],oxidative stress factors[malondialdehyde(MDA),superoxide dismutase(SOD)]were detected in each group.Changes in apoptosis-related indicators[B-cell lymphoma 2(Bcl-2),B-cell lymphoma 2-associated X protein(Bax),Caspase-3]and PERK/transcription activator 4(ATF4)signaling pathway-related proteins glucose-regulated protein 78(GRP78),PERK,ATF4,C/EBP homologous protein(CHOP)levels.Results Compared with the blank group,LVEDD,BNP,cTnI,TNF-α,IL-1β,MDA levels,protein expression levels of Bax,Caspase-3,GRP78,PERK,ATF4,CHOP in the model group were significantly increased,LVEF,LVFS,SOD levels and Bcl-2 protein expression level were significantly decreased(all P＜0.05).Compared with the model group and Baoyuan Decoction+CCT020312 group,LVEDD,BNP,cTnI,TNF-α,IL-1β,MDA levels,protein expression levels of Bax,Caspase-3,GRP78,PERK,ATF4,CHOP in Baoyuan Decoction group and Captopril group were significantly decreased,LVEF,LVFS,SOD levels and Bcl-2 protein expression level were significantly increased(all P＜0.05).Compared with the Captopril group,there was no significant change in the above indexes(except CHOP protein expression level)in the Baoyuan Decoction group(P＞0.05).Conclusion Baoyuan Decoction can delay the progression of chronic heart failure rats,and its mechanism may be related to inhibiting the PERK/ATF4 signaling pathway to alleviate cardiomyocyte apoptosis,further reducing the degree of inflammatory response and oxidative stress,thereby promoting the repair of cardiac function and myocardial injury.

Objective:The expression of serum free light chain(FLC)is abnormal in various diseases,but its role in lung cancer remains unclear.This study aims to investigate the expression and diagnostic value of serum FLC in lung cancer. Methods:A total of 80 lung cancer patients treated at Xiangdong Hospital,Hunan Normal University from January to December 2021 were selected as the lung cancer group.Another 80 healthy individuals undergoing routine physical examinations during the same period were chosen as the control group.General information and serum κFLC and λFLC levels were collected for all subjects.Clinical indicators such as serum carcinoembryonic antigen(CEA),cytokeratin fragment antigen 21-1(CYFRA21-1)levels,tumor diameter,histological type,TNM stage,and lymph node metastasis status were recorded for lung cancer patients.The expression levels of serum FLC[κFLC,λFLC,and FLC(κ+λ)]were compared between the lung cancer group and the control group.Lung cancer patients were grouped based on gender,age,smoking history,tumor diameter,TNM stage,histological type,and lymph node metastasis to compare differences in serum κFLC and λFLC levels.Receiver operating characteristic(ROC)curves were used to evaluate the diagnostic value of serum FLC alone and in combination with other indicators in lung cancer. Results:The expression levels of serum FLC(κ+λ)and κFLC were significantly higher in the lung cancer group than those in the control group(both P＜0.001),while there was no significant difference in serum λFLC levels between the 2 groups(P＞0.05).There were no significant differences in serum κFLC levels among lung cancer patients with different tumor diameters,histological types,or TNM stages(all P＞0.05);however,serum κFLC levels were higher in lung cancer patients with lymph node metastasis than in those without,with statistical significance(P=0.033).There were no significant differences in serum λFLC levels based on tumor diameter or histological type(both P＞0.05),but serumλFLC levels were higher in stage Ⅲ+Ⅳ and lymph node metastatic lung cancer patients compared to stage Ⅰ+Ⅱ and non-metastatic patients,with statistical significance(P=0.033 and P=0.019,respectively).The area under the curve(AUC)for κFLC and CEA in diagnosing lung cancer showed no significant difference(P=0.333).The combination ofκFLC+CYFRA21-1 had the highest diagnostic efficacy(AUC=0.875)and sensitivity(71.3％).The AUC for the combined diagnosis of κFLC+λFLC+CEA+CYFRA21-1 was 0.915(95％CI 0.860 to 0.953,P＜0.001). Conclusion:Serum FLC is highly expressed in lung cancer and is associated with its invasion and metastasis.Serum FLC,particularly κFLC,has diagnostic value for lung cancer,and the combined detection of FLC,CEA,and CYFRA21-1 offers the best diagnostic efficacy.

Objective To investigate the efficacy of biportal endoscopic transforaminal lumbar interbody fusion(BE-LIF)in the treatment of lumbar spondylolisthesis complicated with osteoporosis.Methods From June 2021 to June 2022,36 cases of lumbar spondylolisthesis complicated with osteoporosis were treated with BE-LIF,including 9 males and 27 females,aged(65.94±6.83)years(range:51～76 years).All were single segment,and the responsible segment was L3/4 in 4 cases,L4/5 in 26 cases,and L5/S1 in 6 cases.Imagingexamination showed 1 and 2 degree of spondylolisthesis in 28 and 8 cases,and degenerative and ischemic spondylolisthesis in 24 and 12 cases respectively.Preoperative average bone mineral density T value of the lumbar spine was(-3.19±0.82)SD,and T value of the femur(-2.26±0.86)SD.Oswestry disability index(ODI)was used to evaluate lumbar spine function;visual analogue scale(VAS)to evaluate low back pain and leg pain.ODI,VAS of low back and leg pain were recorded respectively before the operation,at discharge and at the last follow-up.MacNab criteria were used to evaluate the surgical efficacy at the last follow-up.The anterior and posterior disc height,segmental lordotic angle and percentage of slip were measured on the lateral lumbar X-ray films before and after the operation.All patients received standard anti-osteoporosis treatment after surgery.Results All patients completed the opera-tion in one stage.The average operation time was(160.97±35.01)min(range:105～245 min),and the average intraoperative blood loss was(72.50±47.53)ml(range:20～150 mL).The mean follow-up time was(15.17±6.53)months(range:6～26 months).There were statistically significant differences in both VAS score of back and leg and ODI score at discharge and last follow-up when compared with those before the surgery(F=107.48,103.66,55.52,P<0.001).Macnab criteria of the last follow-up showed excellent in 21 cases,good in 12 cases,fair in 3 cases,and the excellent and good rate was 91.7%.Radiographic results showed that the height of the ante-rior and posterior disc height,segmental lordotic angle and percentage of slip were all improved immediately after surgery and at the last follow-up when compared with those before operation,but the anterior and posterior disc height,segmental lordotic angle at the last follow-up were decreased comparing with those immediate after the operation;the difference was statistically significant(P<0.001).The fusion rate at the last follow-up was 91.7%(33/36).The complication rate was 13.8%(5/36),including 1 case of intraoperative endplate injury,1 case of nerve root cuff tear,1 case of delayed postoperative wound infection,and 2 cases of posterior cage migration.Conclusion BE-LIF for the treatment of lumbar spondylolisthesis complicated with osteoporosis can achieve better immediate reduction effect,good clinical outcomes and high fusion rate in short-term follow-up,but the anterior and posterior disc height,segmental lordotic angle are partially lost at the last follow-up.There are still complications,and beginners should be cautious when performing the operation.Postoperative standardized anti-osteoporosis treatment is still an important measure to ensure the curative effect of surgery.

Objective To investigate the differences in clinical characteristics among children on prolonged mechanical ventilation(PMV)due to different primary diseases.Methods A retrospective analysis was performed on the clinical data of 59 pediatric patients requiring PMV from July 2017 to September 2022.According to the primary disease,they were divided into respiratory disease(RD)group,central nervous system(CNS)group,neuromuscular disease(NMD)group,and other disease group.The four groups were compared in terms of general information,treatment,and outcome.Results There were significant differences among the four groups in age,body weight,Pediatric Logistic Organ Dysfunction-2(PELOD-2)score,Pediatric Risk of Mortality Ⅲ(PRISM Ⅲ)score,analgesic and sedative treatment,nutrition supply,rehabilitation treatment,tracheotomy,successful ventilator weaning,and outcomes(P＜0.05).Compared with the RD group,the CNS group and the other disease group had a significantly higher age and a significantly higher proportion of children receiving rehabilitation treatment,and the CNS group had a significantly higher proportion of children receiving tracheotomy(P＜0.008).Compared with the other disease group,the CNS group and the NMD group had significantly lower PELOD-2 and PRISM Ⅲ scores,and the CNS group had a significantly higher proportion of children with successful ventilator weaning and a significantly higher proportion of children who were improved and discharged(P＜0.008).Conclusions There are differences in clinical characteristics among children receiving PMV due to different etiologies.Most children in the RD group have a younger age,and children in the CNS group have a relatively good prognosis.

Objective:To examine the burden and trends of acute viral hepatitis in Guangdong Province from 1990 to 2019, and provide reference evidences for hepatitis prevention and control in the province.Methods:Data on acute viral hepatitis (hepatitis A, B, C, and E) in Guangdong from 1990 to 2019 were extracted from the Global Burden of Disease Study 2019 database. The incidence, prevalence, mortality, and disability-adjusted life years (DALY) data were analyzed by age and gender, and the estimated annual percentage change (EAPC) was calculated to describe the changing trends in disease burden.Results:From 1999 to 2019, the standardized incidence, prevalence, mortality, and DALY of acute viral hepatitis in Guangdong were higher than the national averages. In 2019, 51.43% (2 245 087/4 365 221) of acute viral hepatitis cases in Guangdong Province were mainly attributed to hepatitis B, and 77.18% (106/138) of deaths were due to acute hepatitis B. In different age groups, except for acute hepatitis B, which was more common in adults, the incidence rates of other types of viral hepatitis such as hepatitis A, B, and E showed an overall decreasing trend with age. The mortality rates of different types of acute viral hepatitis, except for the <5 age group, increased with age. The overall incidence and mortality rates of acute viral hepatitis were higher in men than in women.Conclusions:The overall burden of acute viral hepatitis in Guangdong declined in 2019, but remained higher than the national level. Further efforts are needed to strengthen hepatitis prevention and screening in different population in Guangdong Province, especially in children and the elderly.

OBJECTIVE To investigate a method for dynamic monitoring of drug consumption （DMDC） based on statistical process control （SPC）， aiming to improve the macro-supervisory capacity in the process of drug utilization. METHODS The lists of key monitoring drug varieties in our hospital were established based on drug cost and relevant national documents. Monthly consumption data of key monitoring drug varieties in the entire hospital， outpatient pharmacy and inpatient pharmacy were taken as monitoring objects，and the DMDC model was established using SPC’s X control chart， moving range control chart， and exponentially weighted moving-average control chart， monitoring from three dimensions： single-month consumption， range variation， and consumption trend. Rosuvastatin， metoprolol and meropenem were taken as examples to demonstrate the monitoring capabilities of the DMDC model. RESULTS Lists of key monitoring drug varieties were established for entire hospital， outpatient pharmacy and inpatient pharmacy， containing 203， 167 and 200 varieties， respectively. After excluding drug varieties that could not be modeled and for which modeling failed， 179， 116 and 172 DMDC models were successfully established for these three drug consumption areas， respectively. During the first four months of 2024， these three groups of model separately warned 54， 32 and 62 drug varieties. The DMDC model successfully monitored the monthly consumption of drugs，such as rosuvastatin throughout the hospital， metoprolol in outpatient pharmacy， and meropenem in inpatient pharmacy. Compared with the previously used floating rate ranking method in our hospital， the application of the DMDC model significantly improved the scope and depth of drug monitoring， with the monitored drug varieties greatly expanded from about 50 to 179， and the monitoring dimensions increased from a single dimension to three. CONCLUSIONS The DMDC model based on SPC is effective and feasible，suitable for monitoring drug varieties with stable monthly consumption.
