Objective:
The present study aimed to investigate the association of red meat usual intake with metabolic syndrome (MetS), and explore the contribution of red meat usual intake to serum ferritin.
Methods:
Based on the data from the longitudinal China Health and Nutrition Survey (CHNS), 2,797 healthy adults aged 18-75 years without hypertension, diabetes, and MetS were selected in 2009 as subjects and follow-up studies were carried out till 2015. We used the National Cancer Institute (NCI) method to estimate the usual intake of foods. Multivariable logistic regressions were performed to evaluate the association between red meat usual intake and the risk of MetS. Quantile regression analysis was used to study the relationship between red meat consumption and serum ferritin levels.
Results:
After adjusting for potential confounders, red meat, and fresh red meat were positively associated with the risk of MetS ( = 1.41, 95% : 1.05-1.90 and = 1.37, 95% : 1.02-1.85, respectively). These relationships showed increasing trend ( < 0.05). The level of serum ferritin increased significantly with the number of MetS components ( < 0.05). The quantile regression analysis showed that red meat and fresh red meat usual intake had a significant positive association with serum ferritin levels across the entire conditional serum ferritin distribution ( < 0.05). Processed red meat did not exhibit a similar association.
Conclusion
Higher red meat usual intake was associated with an increased risk of MetS and elevated serum ferritin levels.

Abstract The minimal residual disease (MRD) is the origin element that caused the relapse and drug resistance of hematological malignancies, the immune cells play a great role to clear MRD. A variety of immune cells have anti-tumor effects. However, tumor cells antagonize anti-tumor effects by reprogramming of constituents associated with tumor environment. Many different cell types, including immune cells, mesenchymal cells and tumor cells in tumor microenvironment release exosomes. The latest researches indicate that "cargo" and surface ligands carried by exosomes secreted by hematological malignant cells not only can affect the function of natural killer cell (migration, activation, proliferation, secretion and NKG2D expression), macrophage (migration and secretion) and dendritic cell (maturation and presentation), but also regulate the expression of PD-L1 and CCR2, CCL2 secretion and transformation of monocytes. The altered function of immune cells will eventually have effect on the progression of hematological malignancies.

Purpose To investigate the expression of CYP4 A11 and CYP4 A22 in triple-negative breast carcinoma (TNBC) and its relationship with clinicopathological features and M2 tumor-associated macrophages (TAMs). Methods 72 cases of TNBC with clinical and pathological data were collected. The expression of CYP4 A11 and CYP4 A22 in the carcinoma cells and the expression of CD68 and CD163 of the TAMs were detected by immunohistochemically and analyzed with image processing software. The relationship between the expressions of CYP4 A11 and CYP4 A22 with clinicopathologic features and its correlation of the M2 state of TAMs was studied. Results Both the immunohistochemically staining scores of CYP4 A11 and CYP4 A22 were higher in cancer tissues than that in breast tissues (P<0.001, P<0.001). The higher expression of CYP4 A11 was associated with tumor diameter increase (P<0.001), lymph node metastasis (P<0.001), higher clinical stage (P<0.001) and higher Ki-67 index (P=0.011). Both the positive rates of CD68 and CD163 in the high expression group of CYP4 A11 were higher than those in the low expression group of CYP4 A11 (P=0.021, P<0.001). The higher expression of CYP4 A22 was associated with lymph node metastasis (P<0.001), higher clinical stage (P=0.006), higher recurrence rate (P<0.001), and higher Ki-67 index (P=0.040).The positive rates of CD163 in the high expression group of CYP4 A22 was higher than that in the low expression group of CYP4 A22 (P<0.001). Conclusion Both the expression of CYP4 A11 and CYP4 A22 may be associated with M2 polarization state of TAMs, high proliferative activity and lymph node metastasis in the TNBC.

OBJECTIVE:
To investigate the efficacy of disease control, survival time and safely in treatment of newly diagnosed multiple mycloma patients with different dose of tenalidomide regimens.
METHODS:
The clinical data of 116 patients with multiple myeloma from June 2011 to June 2015 were collected and analyzed retrospectively. According to doses of used lenalidomide based on dexamethasone plus lenalidomide regimen 116 patients were divided into 2 groups: conventional dose group (58 cases) and low dose group (58 cases). The ORR, PFS rate and OS rate during followed-up for 3 years, KPS score, RNS score and immunophenotypic index before and after treatment and drug toxicity incidence were compared between 2 groups.
RESULTS:
The ORR for 2 treatment courses of low dose group was significantly lower than that in conventienal dose group (P<0.05). The ORR for 4 and 6 treatment courses was not significantly different between 2 groups (P>0.05). The PFS rate and OS rate during followed-up for 3 years was no significantly different between 2 groups (P>0.05). The KPS score and RNS score after treatment of low dose group were significantly better than those in conventional dose group and before treatment (P<0.05). The levels of immunophenotypic index after treatment of both groups were significantly better than those before treatment (P<0.05). The incidence of III-IV grade hematological toxicity, pulmonary infection and herpes were not significantly different between 2 groups (P>0.05). The incidence of peripheral neuropathy and gastrointestinal reactions in the low dose group were significantly lower than that in conventional dose group (P<0.05).
CONCLUSION
Conventional and low doses of lenalidomide possess the same control effects and survival time for treatment of newly dingnosed patients with multiple myeloma; Despite, the initiation of effects from the low dose lenalidomide is relatively slower, it contributes to raise the overall quality of life and reduce the risk of drug toxicity.

Objective To investigate the difference in texture features on diffusion weighted imaging (DWI) images between breast benign and malignant tumors. Methods Patients including 56 with mass-like breast cancer, 16 with breast fibroadenoma, and 4 with intraductal papilloma of breast treated in the Hainan Hospital of Chinese PLA General Hospital were retrospectively enrolled in this study, and allocated to the benign group (20 patients) and the malignant group (56 patients) according to the post-surgically pathological results. Texture analysis was performed on axial DWI images, and five characteristic parameters including Angular Second Moment (ASM), Contrast, Correlation, Inverse Difference Moment (IDM), and Entropy were calculated. Independent sample t-test and Mann-Whitney U test were performed for intergroup comparison. Regression model was established by using Binary Logistic regression analysis, and receiver operating characteristic curve (ROC) analysis was carried out to evaluate the diagnostic efficiency. Results The texture features ASM, Contrast, Correlation and Entropy showed significant differences between the benign and malignant breast tumor groups (P=0.014, P=0.019, P=0.010, P=0.007). The area under the ROC curve was 0.685, 0.681, 0.754, and 0.683 respectively for the positive texture variables mentioned above, and that for the combined variables (ASM, Contrast, and Entropy) was 0.802 in the model of Logistic regression. Binary Logistic regression analysis demonstrated that ASM, Contrast and Entropy were considered as the specific imaging variables for the differential diagnosis of breast benign and malignant tumors. Conclusions The texture analysis of DWI may be a simple and effective tool in the differential diagnosis between breast benign and malignant tumors.
