AIM: To compare the effectiveness of foldable capsular body(FCB)with traditional scleral buckling(SB)in the treatment of experimental retinal detachment animal models.METHODS: After successfully establishing rhegmatogenous retinal detachment(RRD)animal models, 24 New Zealand white rabbits were randomly divided into three groups(RRD models group, SB group, and FCB group), with 8 rabbits in each group. The FCB and SB groups underwent SB and FCB surgeries for the RRD animal models, while the RRD models group only consists of RRD models without any surgical intervention during the follow-up period. The follow-up duration was 3 mo. Wide-field neonatal fundus imaging system and ophthalmic B-ultrasound were used to assess the fundus conditions before and after surgery. The Icare® TONOVET Plus tonometer was utilized to evaluate intraocular pressure changes before and after surgery. The Eaton and Draize scoring systems were selected to monitor postoperative inflammatory reactions.RESULTS: The retinal reattachment rates in the FCB and SB groups were 87.5% and 75.0%, respectively, with no statistically significant difference between the groups(P>0.05). The intraocular pressure in both the FCB and SB groups increased postoperatively compared to preoperative levels(P<0.01), and there were no significant differences in intraocular pressure at any time points during the follow-up period between the groups(P>0.05). The intraocular pressure in the RRD models group remained at a low level throughout the follow-up period. The average surgical time for the FCB group was 16.87±2.29 min, which was shorter than 46.25±4.74 min in the SB group(t=-15.166, P<0.001). According to the Eaton and Draize scoring systems, the FCB group had lower grades of conjunctival hyperemia and edema in the early postoperative period compared to the SB group, indicating milder inflammatory reactions(P<0.05).CONCLUSION: Both FCB and SB are effective in treating experimental RRD. Compared to SB, FCB is simpler to operate, and also has a shorter surgical time and milder postoperative inflammatory reactions.

Objective Wearable devices refer to a class of monitoring devices that can be tightly integrated with the human body and are designed to continuously monitor individual's activity without impeding or restricting the user's normal activities in the process. With the rapid advancement of chips, sensors, and artificial intelligence technologies, such devices have been widely used for patients with cardiovascular diseases who require continuous health monitoring. These patients require continuous monitoring of a number of physiological indicators to assess disease progression, treatment efficacy, and recovery in the early stages of the disease, during the treatment, and in the recovery period. Traditional monitoring methods require patients to see a doctor on a regular basis with the help of fixed devices and analysis by doctors, which not only increases the financial burden of patients, but also consumes medical resources and time. However, wearable devices can collect data in real time and transmit it directly to doctors via the network, thus providing an efficient and cost-effective monitoring solution for patients. In this paper, we will review the applications, advantages and challenges of wearable devices in the treatment of cardiovascular diseases, as well as the outlook for their future applications.

Background The prevalence of low back pain among workers using vibrating tools in the automobile manufacturing industry is high; however, research on associated risk factors remains limited. Objective To investigate the association between use of vibrating tools and low back pain among automobile manufacturing workers, and to estimate related population attributable risk percentage (PAR%). Methods A cross-sectional survey was conducted using the Chinese Musculoskeletal Disorders Questionnaire among workers with over one year of service in an automobile manufacturing enterprise. Workers were categorized into an exposed group (vibrating tool users) and a control group (non-users) based on their use of vibrating tools during work. The variables showing statistically significant differences between the two groups were selected as covariates for matching by 1∶2 nearest-neighbor propensity score. Chi-square test was used to compare the prevalence of low back pain between the matched exposed and control groups. Log-binomial regression model was employed to calculate the prevalence ratio (PR), and the PAR% of low back pain attributable to vibrating tool use was subsequently determined. Results A total of 6973 valid questionnaires were collected, comprising 5676 males and 1297 females, with an overall low back pain prevalence of 40.3% (2809/6973). The exposed group included 1255 workers (1134 males, 121 females), with a mean age of (44.2 ± 8.7) years and a mean tenure in the current position of (23.5 ± 9.9) years; the matching control group consisted of 2510 workers (2279 males, 231 females), with a mean age of (44.7 ± 8.6) years and a mean tenure in the current position of (24.0 ± 10.0) years. The prevalence of low back pain was 76.7% (963/1255) in the exposed group, significantly higher than the 29.9% (750/2510) in the control group (P<0.001). The log-binomial regression analysis showed a PR of 2.57 (95%CI: 2.28, 2.90) for the exposed group, with a PAR% of 22.03%. Conclusion The use of vibrating tools among automobile manufacturing workers is positively associated with reporting low back pain. Implementing effective measures to mitigate vibration hazards is crucial for reducing the burden of low back pain in this population.

The high incidence of bleeding after peripherally inserted central catheter (PICC) catheterization increases the risk of puncture site infection and unplanned extubation. Hemostatic dressings should be used in the early stages of catheterization to reduce blood infiltration. However, new hemostatic dressings have various types and advantages, which makes them difficult to choose dressings for medical staff. This paper introduces the types and hemostatic characteristics of novel functional hemostatic dressings, reviews the hemostatic mechanism and hemostatic effect of chitosan, cyanoacrylate gum, alginate, gelatin sponge and oxycellulose dressings in PICC puncture respectively, and prospects the development of new functional hemostatic dressings. It is expected that future hemostatic dressings will move towards multifunctionality and compositeness.

Colorectal polyps are important early markers of colorectal cancer, and their early detection is crucial for cancer prevention. Although existing polyp segmentation models have achieved certain results, they still face challenges such as diverse polyp morphology, blurred boundaries, and insufficient feature extraction. To address these issues, this study proposes a parallel coordinate fusion network (PCFNet), aiming to improve the accuracy and robustness of polyp segmentation. PCFNet integrates parallel convolutional modules and a coordinate attention mechanism, enabling the preservation of global feature information while precisely capturing detailed features, thereby effectively segmenting polyps with complex boundaries. Experimental results on Kvasir-SEG and CVC-ClinicDB demonstrate the outstanding performance of PCFNet across multiple metrics. Specifically, on the Kvasir-SEG dataset, PCFNet achieved an F1-score of 0.897 4 and a mean intersection over union (mIoU) of 0.835 8; on the CVC-ClinicDB dataset, it attained an F1-score of 0.939 8 and an mIoU of 0.892 3. Compared with other methods, PCFNet shows significant improvements across all performance metrics, particularly in multi-scale feature fusion and spatial information capture, demonstrating its innovativeness. The proposed method provides a more reliable AI-assisted diagnostic tool for early colorectal cancer screening.

Objective:To explore the characteristics of systemic immune microenvironment during the progression of dextran sulfate sodium(DSS)-induced acute ulcerative colitis(UC)induced in mice by Mass cytometry(CyTOF).Methods:Male C57BL/6 mice were randomly divided into control group and model group.The control group was given normal drinking water for 15 d.The mouse in the model group were given 5%DSS in drinking water,which was changed to normal drinking water after 7 days.In the model group,peripheral blood was collected on days 4,9 and 15,respectively.CyTOF was used to detect the expressions of 33 immune cell markers and changes in cell subsets in peripheral blood of mice,and the characteristics of systemic immune microenvironment in mice with acute UC were analyzed.Results:The cluster analysis of 33 kinds of immune cell markers showed that CD45+cells in peripheral blood of mice with DSS induced acute UC were divided into 23 fine subgroups,among which the proportions of B cell subgroup,T cell subgroup and neutrophil subgroup showed significant changes.A further dimensional reduction cluster analysis of T cell subsets found significant differences in the composition and proportion of the 10 identified T cell subsets.Conclusion:The systemic immune micro-environment map of mice with acute UC induced by DSS has been successfully constructed,and heterogeneity has been found in the systemic immune microenvironment of mice with acute UC.The changes and activation degree of T cell subpopulations are closely re-lated to disease progression and inflammation level.The results of this study provide theoretical basis for assisting the diagnosis,moni-toring the risk,progression,treatment and prognosis of acute UC.

" Mutual recognition and sharing of medical examination and test results in Zhejiang Province" (MRZJ) holds significant value in rationally utilizing healthcare resources, reducing patient costs, streamlining treatment procedures, and enhancing patient satisfaction. This study reviewed the development of medical test result mutual recognition in China and summarized the implementation of MRZJ at Zhejiang Provincial People′s Hospital. Since its launched in October 2021, the hospital had achieved interoperability through enhanced organizational leadership, standardized coding, process optimization, capacity building, quality control reinforcement, and public awareness campaigns. By March 2024, MRZJ covered all outpatient departments of the pilot hospital, with 936 items recognized daily, improving healthcare efficiency and generating notable social and economic benefits. These outcomes provided references for advancing nationwide medical test mutual recognition. Future efforts should focused on strengthening standardized training, refining performance evaluation mechanisms, developing MRZJ early warning functions, and safeguarding patients′ informed consent and choice rights.

Objective:To analyze the drug resistance status of Mycobacterium tuberculosis（MTB）at a hospital in Xiamen over the past decade. Methods:Sputum culture-positive specimens of tuberculosis patients from Xiamen Xinglin Hospital from 2015 to 2024 were collected retrospectively. Isolates were identified as MTB complex and subjected to drug susceptibility testing. Drug resistance patterns and trends over the study period were analyzed using descriptive statistics and Chi-square trend tests in SPSS 27.0 and GraphPad Prism 8.0.Results:Among 3 883 MTB isolates analyzed，1 132（29.15%）exhibited resistance to at least one drug. The highest rates of resistance to individual first-line drugs were observed for isoniazid（INH，16.04%），streptomycin（SM，15.43%），and rifampicin（RFP，12.28%）. Multidrug-resistant tuberculosis（MDR-TB）was identified in 380 isolates（9.79%）. The predominant MDR resistance patterns were INH+RFP+SM（2.34%），INH+RFP（1.65%），and INH+RFP+SM+ethambutol（EMB）（1.03%）. Polyresistance was found in 188 isolates（4.84%），the predominant patterns were INH+SM（1.49%），INH+fluoroquinolone（FQs）（0.31%），and INH+para-aminosalicylic acid（PAS）（0.31%）. Extensively drug-resistant tuberculosis（XDR-TB）was detected in 49 isolates（1.26%）. From 2015 to 2024，significant decreasing trends were observed for overall drug resistance（ χ2=8.858， P=0.003），MDR（ χ2=15.692， P<0.001），and RFP resistance（ χ2=21.627， P<0.001）. In contrast，fluoroquinolone（FQs）resistance showed no significant trend（ χ2=0.149， P=0.699）. Among RFP resistant and MDR isolates，FQs resistance rates were notably high at 33.12%（158/477）and 36.84%（140/380），respectively. Conclusions:The MTB resistance situation in the hospital has gradually declined in the past 10 years，but the resistance situation remains severe，and clinical attention needs to be strengthened on the use of FQs.

Objective:Explore the protective effect and mechanism of methyl badosolone (CDDO-Me) on rats with traumatic brain injury (TBI).Methods:A total of 72 SPF-grade SD rats aged 8 weeks were randomly (random number) divided into 4 groups ( n=18) using the random number table method: Sham, TBI, TBI+Vehicle, and TBI+CDDO-Me. The rat TBI model was established using the hydraulic impact head injury method. The TBI+CDDO-Me group was administered CDDO-Me (dissolved in 1% DMSO, at a dose of 10 mg/kg) via intraperitoneal injection 30 minutes after modeling, twice a day for a total of 3 days. On the third day after modeling, brain tissue was collected for pathological and water content detection after mNSS scoring. Immunofluorescence double staining was used to detect the expression of nuclear factor erythroid2 related factor 2 (Nrf2); immunohistochemical staining was used to detect the expression of ionized calcium binding adapter molecule-1(Iba-1); ELISA was used to detect the levels of tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α), interleukin (IL)-1β, and IL-18 in serum; kits were used to detect the levels of malondialdehyde (MDA) and reactive oxygen species (ROS); Western blot was used to detect the expression of the Nrf2 pathway, B-cell lymphoma-2 (BCL-2), and BCL-2 associated X protein (BAX). Results:(1) Compared with the Sham group, the mNSS scores and water content in the injured cortex of the TBI group rats were significantly increased (both P<0.05), and both significantly decreased after CDDO-Me intervention (both P<0.05). (2) Compared with the Sham group, the proportion of Nissl-stained injured neurons and apoptotic positive cells in the TBI group rats were significantly increased (both P<0.05), and both significantly decreased after CDDO-Me intervention (both P<0.05), accompanied by a decrease in BAX protein expression and upregulation of BCL-2 protein expression (both P<0.05). (3) Immunofluorescence and Western blot results showed that compared with the Sham group, the expression of total Nrf2, nuclear Nrf2, HO-1, and NQO1 proteins in the TBI group were all increased (all P<0.05), and the increase was more significant after CDDO-Me intervention (all P<0.05). (4) Immunohistochemistry and ELISA results showed that compared with the Sham group, the levels of MDA, ROS, Iba-1 in brain tissue and the levels of TNF-α, IL-1β, and IL-18 in serum in the TBI group rats were all significantly increased (all P<0.05), and all significantly decreased after CDDO-Me intervention (all P<0.05). Conclusion:CDDO-Me helps to reduce oxidative stress and inflammatory responses in TBI rats, and the mechanism may be related to the activation of the Nrf2/HO-1 antioxidant stress pathway.

Objective:To preliminarily explore whether sirtuin1 (SIRT1) activation can inhibit neuronal ferroptosis in rats after traumatic brain injury (TBI) by regulating hypoxia-inducible factor-1α (HIF-1α)-mediated glycolysis.Methods:(1) Six SD rats were randomly divided into sham-operated group and TBI group, with 3 rats in each group; TBI model in the TBI group was established by hydraulic impact method, and rats in the sham-operated group underwent same surgery without impact. Cortical tissues of the two groups were sent for tandem mass tag (TMT) labeled quantitative proteomics detection to analyze the differential expression proteome; Kyoto encyclopedia of genes and genomes (KEGG) and gene set enrichment analysis (GSEA) were used to detect pathway enrichment of the screened differential proteins. (2) Twelve SD rats were randomly divided into sham-operated group and 1-day, 3-day and 7-day post-TBI groups, with 3 rats in each group. Treatment methods were the same as above; Western blotting was used to detect SIRT1 protein expression. (3) Forty-eight rats were randomly divided into sham-operated group, TBI group, TBI+vehicle group and TBI+SIRT1 agonist group, with 12 rats in each group; rats in the sham-operated group and TBI group accepted treatment as above; rats in the TBI+SIRT1 agonist group were intraperitoneally injected with SRT1720 (dissolved in ≤ 5% dimethyl sulfoxide, at a dose of 20 mg/kg) within 30 minutes after modeling, twice a day (with an interval of 12 hours); and rats in the TBI+vehicle group were injected with same dose of dimethyl sulfoxide at the same time. One d after modeling, neurological deficit was assessed using modified Neurological severity score (mNSS), brain water content was measured by dry-wet weight method, histopathological changes in the cortical lesions were observed by HE staining, mitochondrial ultrastructure was examined by transmission electron microscopy, malondialdehyde (MDA) content and superoxide dismutase (SOD) activity in the brain tissues were detected by colorimetry, and protein expressions of SIRT1, HIF-1α (key protein in the glycolytic pathway), glutathione peroxidase 4 (GPX4, key protein in the ferroptosis pathway), and acyl-CoA synthetase long-chain family member 4 (ACSL4, key protein in the ferroptosis pathway) were evaluated by Western blotting.Results:(1) KEGG analysis revealed that the glycolysis pathway and HIF-1 signaling pathway were obviously enriched in the cortical tissues of rats in the TBI group compared with the sham-operated group; GSEA showed that the HIF-1 signaling pathway (mmu04066) and ferroptosis pathway (mmu04216) gene sets in the cortical tissues of rats in the TBI group exhibited enrichment trends compared with those in the sham-operated group. (2) Compared with the sham-operated group, the 1-day, 3-day, and 7-day post-TBI groups had significantly decreased SIRT1 protein expression ( P<0.05), with the most prominent decline in 1-day post-TBI group. (3) Compared with the TBI+vehicle group, rats in the TBI+SIRT1 agonist group showed significantly reduced mNSS score and brain tissue water content (9.83±1.17 vs. 7.66±1.21; [83.62±0.91]% vs. [80.09±0.68]%, P<0.05). HE staining indicated clearer structure of the cortical area at the injury sites, and improved neuron morphology in the TBI+SIRT1 agonist group compared with those in the TBI+vehicle group; and transmission electron microscopy showed reduced mitochondrial shrinkage and partial restoration of cristae structures in the TBI+SIRT1 agonist group compared with those in the TBI+vehicle group. Compared with the TBI+vehicle group, the TBI+SIRT1 agonist group exhibited significantly decreased MDA content ([62.72±9.20] nmol/g vs. [39.34±3.48] nmol/g), increased SOD activity ([1.95±0.23] U/mg vs. [2.48±0.14] U/mg), elevated GPX4 protein expression (0.37±0.04 vs. 0.46±0.03), and decreased HIF-1α and ACSL4 protein expressions (1.16±0.15 vs. 0.81±0.12; 1.14±0.06 vs. 1.29±0.04), with significant differences ( P<0.05). Conclusion:SIRT1 activation can exert neuroprotective effect by inhibiting HIF-1α-mediated glycolysis and reducing neuronal ferroptosis after TBI.
