Glioma represents the most prevalent malignant tumor of the central nervous system, with chemotherapy serving as an essential adjunctive treatment. However, most chemotherapeutic agents exhibit limited ability to penetrate the blood-brain barrier (BBB). This study introduced a novel dual-targeting strategy for glioma therapy by modulating the formation of nanobody-driven protein coronas to enhance the brain and tumor-targeting efficiency of hydrophobic cisplatin prodrug-loaded lipid nanoparticles (C8Pt-Ls). Specifically, nanobodies (Nbs) with fibrinogen-binding capabilities were conjugated to the surface of C8Pt-Ls, resulting in the generation of Nb-C8Pt-Ls. Within the bloodstream, Nb-C8Pt-Ls could bound more fibrinogen, forming the protein corona that specifically interacted with LRP-1, a receptor highly expressed on the BBB. This interaction enabled a "Hitchhiking Effect" mechanism, facilitating efficient trans-BBB transport and promoting effective brain targeting. Additionally, the protein corona interacted with LRP-1, which is also overexpressed in glioma cells, achieving precise tumor targeting. Computational simulations and SPR detection clarified the molecular interaction mechanism of the Nb-fibrinogen-(LRP-1) complex, confirming its binding specificity and stability. Our results demonstrated that this strategy significantly enhanced C8Pt accumulation in brain tissues and tumors, induced apoptosis in glioma cells, and improved therapeutic efficacy. This study provides a novel framework for glioma therapy and underscores the potential of protein corona modulation-based dual-targeting strategies in advancing treatments for brain tumors.

Turner syndrome is a sex chromosome disease with a female clinical phenotype.Most pa-tients are diagnosed in childhood or adolescence because of growth delays,and a small number of patients are diagnosed due to TS-related diseases.Women with Turner syndrome can develop hyper-tension in childhood and adolescence,and the prevalence of hypertension increases with age.The pathogenesis is unclear and may be multifactorial,similar to essential hypertension.In this review arti-cle,we explore possible mechanisms,blood pres-sure management,and treatment recommenda-tions for hypertension in patients with Turner syn-drome.

Objective To investigate the effects of long-term exposure to three new types of light emitting diode (LED) sources on the behavior, learning, and memory of rats. Methods A total of 160 specific pathogen-free SD rats were divided into eight groups as followed, trichromatic fluorescent lamps color temperature control group, violet-chip full-spectrum white LED group, blue-chip white LED group, and blue-chip full-spectrum white LED group based on the light sources types, with color temperature of 4 000 K and 6 500 K groups in each group using the 4×2 factorial design. There were 20 rats in each group, with half of the rats were males and half females. Rats were exposed to artificial lighting, and the illumination was set at 750 lx. The rats in each group were exposed to different lighting environments for 12 hours per day for 24 weeks. The open-field and step-down tests were conducted in rats after 24 weeks exposure, followed by sacrifice of rats and measurement of organ coefficients. Differences in body weight, organ coefficients, and neurobehavioral indexes of rats in different groups were compared. Results The spleen coefficient of female rats decreased in blue-chip white LED of 6 500 K color temperature group, and the liver coefficient of male rats decreased in the violet-chip full-spectrum white LED of 4 000 K color temperature, blue-chip full-spectrum white LED of 4 000 K color temperature, and blue-chip full-spectrum white LED of 6 500 K color temperature groups, compared with the same-sex rats in trichromatic fluorescent lamps with same-color temperature control group (all P<0.05). The result of different types of light sources compared in the open-field test showed that the index of total distance and movement speed of female rats in the blue-chip full-spectrum white LED group were lower than those in the other three groups, and the time cost to the central area was longer than that in the blue-chip white LED group and the violet-chip full-spectrum white LED group (all P<0.05). The total distance and movement speed of male rats in the blue-chip full-spectrum white LED group were longer or higher than those in the violet-chip full-spectrum white LED group (all P<0.05). Based on the comparison of color temperature, the time and total distance of male rats in 6 500 K color temperature group were lower than that in the 4 000 K color temperature group (both P<0.05). In the step-down test, both male and female rats in the blue-chip full-spectrum white LED group made more errors compared with other three groups with the same gender (all P<0.05). Conclusion Based on the experimental conditions of this study, the blue-chip full-spectrum white light LED affects behavior, learning and memory of the rats, and trichromatic fluorescent lamp has the lowest effect on neurobehavior. The color temperature also affects behavior of the rats, and high color temperature has higher risk.

OBJECTIVES: Urinary tract infection (UTI) is the most common infection complication after kidney transplantation, and the reports of the incidence vary greatly among different centers. This study aims to explore the risk factors for UTI after kidney transplantation with the donation from brain death (DBD) and the impact on graft function, thus to provide theoretical basis for comprehensive prevention and treatment of UTI after kidney transplantation. METHODS: The clinical and laboratory data of DBD kidney transplantation from January 2017 to December 2018 in Xiangya Hospital, Central South University were collected and retrospectively analyzed. Patients were assigned into an UTI group and a non-UTI group. The base line characteristics, post-transplant complications, and graft function were compared between the 2 groups. Multivariate logistic regression was used to analyze the risk factors for UTI. RESULTS: A total of 212 DBD kidney transplant recipients were enrolled in this study. UTI occurred in 44 (20.75%) patients after transplantation. The female, the time of indwelling catheter, and postoperative urinary fistula were independent risk factors for UTI after DBD kidney transplantation. A total of 19 strains of gram-positive bacteria, 12 strains of gram-negative bacteria , and 10 strains of fungi were isolated from the urine of 44 UTI patients. The UTI after kidney transplantation significantly increased time of hospital stay ( CONCLUSIONS UTI after DBD kidney transplantation transplantation affects the renal function at 3 months and increases the patient's economic burden.

Accurate tumor targeting, deep penetration and superb retention are still the main pursuit of developing excellent nanomedicine. To achieve these requirements, a stepwise stimuli-responsive strategy was developed through co-administration tumor penetration peptide iRGD with shape-transformable and GSH-responsive SN38-dimer (d-SN38)-loaded nanoparticles (d-SN38@NPs/iRGD). Upon intravenous injection, d-SN38@NPs with high drug loading efficiency (33.92 ± 1.33%) could effectively accumulate and penetrate into the deep region of tumor sites with the assistance of iRGD. The gathered nanoparticles simultaneously transformed into nanofibers upon 650 nm laser irradiation at tumor sites so as to promote their retention in the tumor and burst release of reactive oxygen species for photodynamic therapy. The loaded d-SN38 with disulfide bond responded to the high level of GSH in tumor cytoplasm, which consequently resulted in SN38 release and excellent chemo-photodynamic effect on tumor.

OBJECTIVE: To observe the sub-acute toxicity of 1-bromopropane(1-BP) oral exposure for 28 days in SD rats. METHODS: Specific pathogen free adult female SD rats were randomly assigned to the control and exposed group, 8 rats in each group. The 1-BP was suspended in corn oil and administered by gavages in a dose of 800 mg/kg body weight to rats in the exposed group, once a day, 5 days per week for 4 weeks. The rats in the control group were given equal volume of corn oil. After the last exposure, blood and urine of rats were collected for 1-BP level detection and hematological examination. Brain, heart, lung, liver, kidney and spleen of rats were collected for gross pathological examination and histopathological examination. RESULTS: The rats of exposed group showed unstable standing, weakness of hind limbs, limping and lying down from the 3 rd week of exposure. From the 1 st to 4 th week of exposure, mean body weight of rats in the exposed group were significantly lower than those of the control group(P<0.05). In the exposed group, the level of 1-BP in urine was higher than that in blood(P<0.05), and that there was positive correlation between them(Spearman correlation coefficient=0.954, P<0.01). In the control group, 1-BP was not detected. The absolute weights of brain and lung tissue in the exposure group decreased(P<0.05), meanwhile the organ coefficients of heart, liver, spleen and kidney were significantly increased compared with the control group(P<0.05). The number of red blood cells, hemoglobin concentration, hematocrit, the mean hemoglobin concentration, the total serum cholesterol and triglycerides were decreased(P<0.05). No pathological change related to 1-BP exposure was observed in the main organs of the rats in the exposed group. CONCLUSION: The sub-acute oral toxicity of 1-BP is mainly neurotoxicity and hematotoxicity. The 1-BP level in urine may reflect its exposure.

OBJECTIVE: To observe the pathological changes of rat silicosis model at different time points. METHODS: The specific pathogen free SD rats were randomly divided into control group and 7, 15, 21, 30, 45, 60, 75 and 90 day model groups based on their body weight, with 5 rats in each group. Non-exposed endotracheal intubation was performed. Silicosis rat model was established by intratracheal instillation of 250 g/L silica suspension in each rat, and 0.9% sodium chloride solution was perfused into the trachea of rats in the control group. The rats in the control group were sacrificed on the 90 th day after exposure, and the model rats in the other 8 groups were sacrificed on the 7 th, 15 th, 21 st, 30 th, 45 th, 60 th, 75 th and 90 th days after the end of exposure. The gross appearance of the lung tissue of rats was observed. The rat lung tissues were stained with hematoxylin-eosin and Masson staining to observe the pathological changes, and Ashcroft score was evaluated. RESULTS: The gross observation showed that the lungs of rats in the model groups had varying degree of gray changes, hardened texture, and spots and nodules on the surface of the lobes. These changes were aggravated with the increase of time after dust exposure. The results of histopathological examination of the lungs showed that the rats developed acute alveolar inflammation, and a large number of macrophages and neutrophils were seen in the lung tissues in the 7 th and 15 th day model groups. Cellular nodules appeared in the lung tissue, and fibrosis appeared in the center of the nodule in the rats of 21 st, 30 th, and the 45 th day model groups; the silicosis nodules appeared in the lung tissues of rats in the 60 th, 75 th, and 90 th day model groups, and the small nodules gradually merged into larger ones. Simultaneously, with the increase of time after dust exposure, the lung tissue of rats gradually showed severe pulmonary fibrosis. The lung organ coefficient and Aschcroft score of rats increased with the increase of time after dust exposure(P<0.01). CONCLUSION: The rat lung changes after dust exposure. Acute alveolar inflammation occurs on the 7 th to 15 th day after dust exposure; cellular nodules develop on the 21 st to 45 th day after dust exposure; silicosis nodules develop on the 60 th to 90 th day after dust exposure. The severity of lung fibrosis after dust exposure showed a time-effect relationship in rats.

Objective:After the propensity score matching method was used to balance the covariates between groups, the effects of pancreaticoduodenectomy (PD) and total pancreatectomy (TP) on the survival of patients with pancreatic head cancer and related prognostic factors were compared.Methods:The National Cancer Institute Surveillance, Epidemiology and Results (SEER) database were searched and 3 676 patients with pancreatic head cancer from 2010 to 2016 were selected, of whom 3 559 patients underwent PD (PD group) and 117 patients underwent TP (TP group) . Using propensity score matching to balance confounding factors, 117 pairs of cases from PD group and TP group were matched successfully. The Kaplan-Meier curve was used to observe the overall survival rate and cancer-specific survival rate of patients before and after matching. Log-rank test and Cox proportional hazard model were used to analyze and evaluate the impact of different clinicopathological characteristics on the prognosis of patients with pancreatic head cancer.Results:Before matching, the 1, 3, and 5-year cancer-specific survival rates of 3 559 patients in the PD group were 72.8%, 35.1% and 24.9%, and the median survival time was 23.89 months; the 1, 3, and 5-year cancer-specific survival rates of 117 patients in the TP group were 67.9%, 29.4% and 26.1%, and the median survival time was 21.51 months, and all the differences were not statistically significant (all P>0.05). After matching, the 1, 3, and 5-year cancer-specific survival rates of 117 patients in the PD group were 77.8%, 44.5% and 31.8%, and the median survival time was 31.50 months, which was significantly better than that of the TP group, and the differences were statistically significant (all P values <0.05). Cox regression analysis showed that surgical methods, tumor differentiation degree, N staging and pathological types were independent risk factors for overall survival and cancer-specific survival. Conclusions:Surgical methods, tumor differentiation degree, N stage and pathological type were independent risk factors affecting the overall survival rate and cancer-related survival rate. The survival benefit of PD was significantly better than that of TP, and the clinical choice of TP treatment for patients with pancreatic head cancer should be cautious.

Objective To explore the establishment of a two-way referral system for the treatment of cervical diseases within a medical alliance. The two-way referral system was introduced to reduce the morbidity and mortality of cervical cancer through better management of patients'who have tested positive for cervical disease, screening effectively for early diagnosis and treatment of cervical precancerous lesions, and providing early interventions for cervical cancer patients. Methods The control group consisted of 2, 515 patients who had screened positive for cervical disease between January 2018 and December 2018 at one of four community health service centers that were not within the medical alliance. The experimental group consisted of 2, 384 patients who had screened positive for cervical disease at one of four community health service centers in the medical alliance. The control group was treated using the original management mode;the experimental group's treatment was managed within the two-way referral system, which included standardized screening, referral, follow-up, health education, and professional training. The hospital visit rates, time intervals from diagnosis to the start of interventions, detection rates, and treatment rates were observed for both groups of women. Results The hospital visit rates, detection rates, and treatment rates were higher for those in the experimental group than the control group. The time interval from receiving a diagnosis to the first hospital visit was (16.9±11.5) days for patients in the experimental group and (25.7±20.9)days for those in the control group. The difference was a statistically significant (-0.05). Conclusion The management of cases in a two-way referral system within a medical alliance facilitates patients receiving earlier diagnosis and treatment for cervical pre-cancerous lesions and malignant tumors. Such efficiency improvements may reduce morbidity and mortality as well as help control medical costs, all of which have long-term economic and social significance.

Objective: To investigate the effect of obstructive sleep apnoea-hypoapnoea syndrome(OSAHS)on diabetic retinopathy(DR)in elderly patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM)and analyze risk factors for DR process. Methods: Data of elderly diabetic patients without DR admitted into our hospital from January 2012 to December 2014 were retrospectively analyzed.Based on whether or not to combine OSAHS, patients were divided into the OSAHS group(n=42)and the control group(n=85). After 36 months' follow-up, the incidence and progression of DR were compared, and the effect of different degree of OSAHS on DR was analyzed.Multivariate logistic regression analysis was used to analyze the risk factors for DR. Results: The systolic pressure, diastolic pressure and Epworth sleepiness scores were higher in the OSAHS group than in the control group(P<0.05). At the(34.5±6.7)months of follow-up versus baseline, body mass index, renal function and cardiac function were markedly decreased in both groups(P<0.05). The systolic pressure, diastolic pressure, 2-h postprandial blood glucose and Epworth sleepiness scores were higher in the OSAHS group than in the control group; and the glomerular filtration rate(GFR)and left ventricular ejection fraction were lower in the OSAHS group than in the control group(P<0.05). The incidences of mild, moderate and severe non-proliferative DR were higher in the OSAHS group than in the control group(P<0.05). The results of subgroup analysis showed that the incidence of DR was higher in patients with moderate to severe OSAHS than in controls(OR=4.57, 95%CI: 1.24~13.78, P=0.002), while the incidence of DR in patients with mild OSAHS was similar to that in the controls(OR=2.33, 95%CI: 0.66~12.56, P=0.29). Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that T2DM duration ≥7 years(OR=3.24, 95%CI: 1.80-9.59, P<0.05), haemoglobin A1c(HbA1c)≥7.5%(OR=2.07, 95%CI: 1.41-8.52, P<0.05), GFR<60 ml/min(OR=4.52, 95%CI: 1.75-14.26, P<0.05)and apnea/hyponea index ≥15/h(OR=2.03, 95%CI: 1.37-11.24, P<0.05)were independent risk factors for DR. Conclusions OSAHS patients tend to have hypertension and high glucose level, and are more prone to cardiac and renal dysfunction and DR.T2DM duration ≥7 years, HbA1c ≥7.5%, GFR<60 ml/min and AHI ≥15/h are independent risk factors for DR progression.And more studies are needed to confirm the independent risk factors.
