Methods: Fifty patients who underwent UBE-TLIF and 50 patients who underwent W-TLIF, each with >2 years of follow-up, were retrospectively analyzed. Outcomes included operative parameters, time to postoperative mobilization, paravertebral muscle atrophy and fat infiltration rates, clinical scores (Visual Analog Scale [VAS], Oswestry Disability Index [ODI], Japanese Orthopaedic Association [JOA]), modified Macnab criteria, fusion rates, and complications. Results: Compared with W-TLIF, the UBE-TLIF group had significantly less intraoperative blood loss, shorter operative times, and lower postoperative drainage volumes (p <0.05). The UBE-TLIF group showed faster postoperative recovery and shorter hospital stays. At 6 months, 1 year, and 2 years, W-TLIF patients had higher multifidus and erector spinae atrophy, and greater paravertebral muscle fat infiltration (p <0.05). The UBE-TLIF group also had lower VAS and ODI scores at 1 year and 2 years (p <0.05) and fewer surgical complications (6% vs. 10%). Fusion rates (94% vs. 92%) and modified Macnab outcomes (88% vs. 86%) were comparable (p >0.05). Conclusions UBE-TLIF is associated with reduced intraoperative trauma, quicker recovery, and fewer complications. In the long-term, it better preserves paravertebral muscle integrity and provides superior pain and functional outcomes.

Objective To analyze the epidemiological characteristics of food poisoning deaths in Wenshan Prefecture of Yunnan Province from 2010 to 2019, so as to provide the basis for formulating the strategies and measures for prevention and control of food poisoning deaths in Wenshan Prefecture. Methods The data of food poisoning deaths in Wenshan Prefecture from 2010 to 2019 were collected and analyzed by Excel software. Results From 2010 to 2019, 65 food poisoning deaths were reported, accounting for 7.5% of the food poisoning incidents in the same period.The fatality rate of food poisoning deaths was 36.7%, and the mortality rate of food poisoning events in the same period was 2.1%.The high incidence of food poisoning deaths occurred in summer and autumn, with the highest in June and July.Wild mushroom poisoning was the main cause of death in food poisoning, and the incidence was mainly in rural families. Conclusion Wild mushroom poisoning should be the focus of controlling food poisoning deaths in Wenshan Prefecture.It is necessary to strengthen public education, improve people′s ability to identify edible wild mushrooms, strengthen the building of capacity of medical institutions in towns and villages, and establish a long-term mechanism for food safety management.

Objective: To explore the expression of the N-methyl-D-aspartate (NMDA) receptor in the rat model of orchialgia and its possible mechanisms. METHODS: According to Yoshioka's method, the male rats in the control group were injected with 0.2 ml saline, and those in the experimental group with 0.2 ml 2% acetic acid solution. Then we tested the behavioral responses of the rats and determined the expressions of the subunits NR1 and NR2B of the NMDA receptor in the dorsal root ganglion and spinal dorsal horn by Western blot, RT-qPCR and immunofluorescence staining. RESULTS: The withdrawal latency was decreased in the model rats, reaching the lowest value at 4 hours after modeling, significantly lower than in the controls (［4.15 ± 0.84］ vs ［12.32 ± 1.05］, P < 0.05). Compared with the controls, the model rats showed remarkably increased mRNA and protein expressions of NR2B in the dorsal root ganglion (P < 0.05) but not in the spinal dorsal horn at 4 hours. However, no statistically significant difference was found in the expression of NR1 either in the dorsal root ganglion or in the spinal dorsal horn between the two groups (P > 0.05). CONCLUSIONS The NMDA receptor plays an important role in pathogenesis of orchialgia in rats. In the early stage of pain, upregulating the expression of the subunit NR2B of the NMDA receptor can mediate peripheral hyperalgesia and consequently orchialgia.

Objective: To investigate the efficiency and safety of domestic tyrosine kinase inhibitor (TKI) dasatinib (Yinishu) as second-line treatment for patients with chronic myeloid leukemia in chronic phase (CML-CP). Methods: A retrospective analysis of clinical data of CML-CP patients who received domestic dasatinib as second-line treatment in the CML collaborative group hospitals of Hubei province from March 2016 to July 2018 was performed. The optimal response rate, the cumulative complete cytogenetic response (CCyR), the cumulative major molecular responses (MMR), progression free survival (PFS), event free survival (EFS) and adverse effects (AEs) of the patients were assessed at 3, 6 and 12 months of treatment. Results: A total of 83 CML-CP patients were enrolled in this study. The median follow-up time was 23 months. The optimal response rates at 3, 6 and 12 months in 83 CML-CP patients treated with dasatinib were 77.5% (54/71), 72.6% (61/75) and 60.7% (51/69), respectively. By the end of follow-up, the cumulative CCyR and MMR rates were 65.5% (55/80) and 57.1% (48/73), respectively. The median time to achieving CCyR and MMR was 3 months. During follow-up time, the PFS rate was 94.0% (79/83) and the EFS rate was 77.4% (65/83). The most common non-hematological AEs of dasatinib were edema (32.5%), rash itching (18.1%) and fatigue (13.3%). The common hematological AEs of dasatinib were thrombocytopenia (31.3%), leukopenia (19.3%) and anemia (6.0%). Conclusion: Domestic dasatinib was effective and safe as the second-line treatment of CML-CP patients and it can be used as an option for CML-CP patients.

Objective:The aim of this study was to explore the relationship between fasting glucose levels and all-cause and cause-specific mortality in Chinese population.Methods:The role of fasting blood glucose levels as a predictor of all-cause and cause-specific mortality was estimated in 9930 participants from four Chinese general populations with a 20-year follow-up.Multivariate Cox proportional hazard models were used to identify the relationship between fasting glucose and mortality.Results:There were 1471 deaths after a median follow-up of 20.2 years (a total of 187,374 person-years),including 310 cardiovascular deaths,581 cancer deaths,and 580 other-cause deaths,After adjustment for age,sex,urban or rural,northern or southern of China,types of work,education level,physical exercise,smoking status,drinking status,body mass index,systolic blood pressure,and serum total cholesterol at baseline,the hazard ratios (HRs) and 95％ confidence intervals (CIs) for all-cause mortality in the fasting blood glucose categories of ＜60,60-69,70-79,90-99,100-109,110-125,and ≥126 mg/dl were 1.38 (1.04-1.84),1.20 (1.01-1.43),1.18 (1.03-1.36),1.18 (0.99-1.41),1.48 (1.16-1.88),1.17 (0.84-1.62),and 2.23 (1.72-2.90),respectively,in contrast to the reference group (80-89 mg/dl).The HRs and 95％ CIs for cardiovascular disease mortality in these groups were 2.58 (1.44-4.61),1.41 (0.95-2.10),1.56 (1.15-2.11),1.29 (0.88-1.89),1.36 (0.78-2.37),1.05 (0.52-2.11),and 2.73 (1.64-4.56),respectively.Conclusions:Both low and high fasting glucose were significantly associated with increased risk of all-cause and cardiovascular mortality in Chinese general population.

OBJECTIVETo investigate the expression of E2F1 gene in patients with acute leukemia(AL) and its clinical significance.

METHODSSeventy-two AL patients treated in March 2015 -March 2016 in our hospital were selected, and 24 healthy people were selected as controls. RT-PCR and Western blot were applied to determine the level of E2F1 gene transcription and expression, and the statistical analysis was performed to reveal the clinical value of E2F1 gene.

RESULTSThe relative expression levels of E2F1 gene and protein in bone marrow of AL patients was higher than that in control group (P<0.05). The levels of WBC, β-MG and LDH in the patients with high expression of E2F1 gene were higher than those in patients with low expression of E2F1 gene(P<0.05), but the E2F1 gene expression did not correlate with sex, fever, fatigue, bone marrow blast ratio, peripheral blood blasts ratio (P>0.05). The complete remission (CR) of patients with low expression of E2F1 was significantly higher than that of patients with high expression of E2F1(P<0.05). And the drug resistance in the patients with low expression of E2F1 gene was lower than that of patients with high expression of E2F1 gene (P<0.05). The expression level of E2F1 gene decreased significantly in patients with symptomatic remission after treatment (P<0.05). The expression levels of E2F1 gene in M1, M2 and M5 patients decreased significantly after treatment (P<0.05). Kaplan-Meier survival analysis showed that OS and DFS in the patients with low expression of E2F1 gene were higher than those in patients with high expression (P<0.05). Multivariate Cox regression analysis showed that the age and E2F1 gene were the independent influencing factors of OS (P<0.05); the sex and E2F1 gene were the dependent factors of DFS (P<0.05).

CONCLUSIONThe expression level of E2F1 gene in patients with AL has been found to be higher, the higher level of E2F1 gene closely relates with AL patients, E2F1 gene can be used as a biological target for the clinical treatment of AL.
