BACKGROUND:Fracture healing is a very complex physiological process,which is influenced by many factors.In recent years,the use of biomechanical factors in fracture healing has been a major focus in the field of orthopedics,and the mechanical stress environment around the fracture end has an important role in regulating fracture healing.Among them,the study of the mechanism of compressive mechanics on the cytokines of fracture ends is a hot spot for bone-related researchers.OBJECTIVE:To summarize the current status and recent advances in the study of the mechanism of action of compressive stress on cytokines in fracture healing in recent years.METHODS:A search with the keywords of"compressive stress,fracture healing,cytokine,bone morphogenetic protein,fibroblast growth factor,platelet-derived growth factor,vascular endothelial growth factor,interleukin,tumor necrosis factor-α"in Chinese and English was conducted in the CNKI,WanFang,PubMed,and Web of Science.Initially 506 articles were retrieved,and 94 eligible articles that met the criteria were screened and finally summarized.RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:Current studies have found that compressive stress has different effects on different cytokines during fracture healing,which can be achieved mainly by influencing cell signaling,gene expression regulation,and modulation of cell behavior.Among them,compressive stress can be linked to cytokines such as bone morphogenetic protein,fibroblast growth factor,platelet-derived growth factor,vascular endothelial growth factor,interleukin,and tumor necrosis factor-α.This process involves cell proliferation,differentiation and migration,inflammatory response,and changes in the environmental and nutritional conditions of the fracture end,which are key factors affecting fracture healing.The whole paper summarizes the complexity of cytokine action mechanism,the mechanism of compressive stress on its regulation needs to be further carried out in-depth research,and the problems and limitations in the research are considered and future prospects.

Objective The aim of this study was to explore the acceptance and influencing factors of self-collected urine samples for human papillomavirus(HPV)testing in cervical cancer screening among eligible women,and to provide scientific evidence for promoting this testing in low resource areas.Methods A population-based cross-sectional study was conducted from 2022 to 2023 at the Maternal and Child Health Hospital in Shuangliu district,Chengdu City Sichuan Province.The study subjects were women aged 21 to 69 years old,and a customized questionnaire was used to conduct general information and acceptance surveys on the partic-ipants.Results A total of 2,062 women were included,with an average age of 51.58±9.34 years.Among them,1,501(72.79％)women believed that self-sampling urine was very easy.However,although 1,333(64.65％)women were still willing to accept doctor sampling as a cervical cancer screening method,only 729(35.35％)were more willing to accept self-sampling urine HPV testing.Age,educational level,annual household income,awareness of HPV,HPV vaccination status,and a sense of shame about the doctor's sampling process were all associated with the acceptance of self-collected urine HPV testing among women undergoing cervical cancer screening(P＜0.001).The results of multivariate logistic regression analysis indicated that older women(OR=0.965,95％CI:0.951-0.979)and those who were not familiar with HPV(OR=0.760,95％CI:0.602-0.961)were more likely to undergo self sampling urine HPV testing,while those with junior high school education(OR=1.330,95％CI:1.053-1.682),high school education or a-bove(OR=1.990,95％CI:1.401-2.827),and a sense of shame towards the doctor's sampling process(OR=2.314,95％CI:1.706-3.142)were more likely to undergo self sampling urine for HPV testing.Conclusions Most women believe that self sampling urine for HPV testing is very easy,but compared to doctor sampling,only some women choose to self sample urine for HPV testing.Key health education interventions should be carried out for older and lower educated populations to promote acceptance of urine HPV testing.

AIM To investigate the effects of Xuesaitong Capsules(Panax notoginseng saponins)on ischemia/reperfusion injury in a mouse model of skin frostbite.METHODS The mice were randomly divided into the control group,the model group,the dexamethasone group(1 mg/kg),and the low-dose,medium-dose,and high-dose Xuesaitong Capsules groups(0.036,0.072,and 0.144 g/kg),with eight mice in each group.A frostbite model was established using a dry ice-cooled ceramic(ferrite)magnet.On the 2nd day after modeling,each group started its corresponding dosing by gavage for 14 consecutive days.The wound healing,histopathological changes,and serum levels of high-sensitivity C-reactive protein(hs-CRP),thromboxane B2(TXB2),6-keto-prostaglandin F1α(6-K-PGF1α),nitric oxide(NO)and endothelin(ET)were assessed using ELISA.The superoxide dismutase(SOD)activity and malondialdehyde(MDA)levels in skin tissues were measured biochemically.The protein expressions of tumor necrosis factor(TNF)-α,interleukin(IL)-1β,IL-6,Toll-like receptor(TLR)4 and phosphorylated nuclear factor-KB p65(p-NF-κB p65)in skin tissues were determined by Western blot.Additionally,LncRNA H19 mRNA expression in skin tissues was evaluated using RT-qPCR.RESULTS After the final administration,compared with the control group,the model group exhibited partial scab detachment,wound healing,and larger wound areas;hyperkeratosis with incomplete keratinization,detachment of the dermis and subcutaneous tissue,partial loss of appendages,subcutaneous edema,and dilated,congested,and hemorrhagic stromal vessels with extensive lymphocyte infiltration revealed by the histopathological examination;elevated serum levels of hs-CRP,TXB2,and ET(P＜0.05,P＜0.01);decreased 6-K-PGF1α and NO levels(P＜0.05,P＜0.01);reduced SOD activity in skin tissues(P＜0.01);increased MDA levels(P＜0.01);and upregulated protein expressions of TNF-α,IL-1β,IL-6,TLR4 and p-NF-κB p65,as well as LncRNA H19 mRNA expression(P＜0.05,P＜0.01).Compared with the model group,the group intervened with high-dose Xuesaitong Capsules displayed reduced wound areas(P＜0.01);decreased serum levels of hs-CRP,TXB2 and ET(P＜0.05,P＜0.01);increased 6-K-PGF1α and NO levels(P＜0.05,P＜0.01);enhanced SOD activity(P＜0.05,P＜0.01);reduced MDA level in skin tissues(P＜0.05,P＜0.01);and down-regulated TNF-α,IL-1β,IL-6,TLR4 and p-NF-κB p65 protein expressions and suppressed LncRNA H19 mRNA expression in skin tissues as well(P＜0.05,P＜0.01).CONCLUSION Xuesaitong Capsules alleviate ischemia/reperfusion injury in frostbite-injured mice by exerting anti-inflammatory and anti oxidative stress effects and restoring vascular endothelial function mediated by the downregulation of LncRNA H19 expression and inhibition of the TLR4/NF-κB signaling pathway.

Objective To explore the application effect of midazolam combined with oxycodone in fiberoptic bronchoscope intubation of burn patients with difficult airway.Methods 80 burn patients with difficult airway who underwent fiberoptic bronchoscope intubation from March 2023 to March 2024 were included as the study subjects.They were assigned into two groups based on anesthesia medication:the control group(40 cases)was given midazolam anesthesia,and the combined group(40 cases)was given midazolam combined with oxycodone anesthesia.The one-time success rate of intubation,hemodynamic indicators[heart rate(HR),mean arterial pressure(MAP),and percutaneous arterial oxygen saturation(SpO2)],Ramsay sedation score,and adverse reactions were compared between the two groups.Results The success rate of intubation in the combined group(95.00%)was higher than that in the control group(72.50%),the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).The HR and MAP of both groups decreased after administration(T1),1 min after intubation(T2),and 5 min after intubation(T3)compared to before administration(T0),and the HR of the combined group was lower than that of the control group,while the MAP was higher than that of the control group,the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).The SpO2 at T1,T2 and T3 time points in the control group was significantly lower than T0 time point,the SpO2 of the combined group was higher than that of the control group at T1 and T2 time points,the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05);The Ramsay sedation score at T2 and T3 time points was lower than that of the control group,the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).The total incidence of adverse reactions in the combined group(12.50%)showed no obvious difference compared to the control group(7.50%)(P>0.05).Conclusion The combination of midazolam and oxycodone has a good healing effect in fiberoptic bronchoscope intubation of burn patients with difficult airway,with a higher success rate of intubation,better sedation,and can maintain hemodynamic stability.It also has high medication safety.

This study was aimed at identifying the pathogenic bacteria responsible for the death of a young tiger at the Fujian Meihua Mountain South China Tiger Breeding Research Institute.Tissue samples from the lungs,liver,and intestines of the deceased tiger were collected,and the bacteria were cultured inasterile environment.The bacterial strains were characterized according to their morphological and molecular biological properties,including assessment of virulence genes and antibiotic resistance genes,mouse lethality tests,and antibiotic susceptibility evaluations.A predominant bacterial strain isolated from the liver of the deceased tiger was identified as enterotoxigenic Escherichia coli(ETEC)strain Tiger22513F.Phylogenetic analysis of the 16S rRNA gene revealed that the Tiger22513F strain exhibited close genetic similarity to the reference strain ETEC(MF919609.1),with 99.9%nucleotide similarity,and resided on the same evolutionary branch.The Tiger22513F strain contained 11 antibiotic resistance genes(tetA,sul1,sul3,cmlA,floR,blaTEM,blaSHV,blaCMY-2,qnrA,qnrS,and qnrD)along with five virulence genes(VT1,fyuA,tsh,iucD,and ST).Mouse lethality tests indicated significant pathogenicity toward mice,affecting primarily the lungs,liver,and intestines.Antibiotic susceptibility testing demonstrated that this strain exhibited resistance to various classes of beta-lactam antibiotics,as well as quinolones and aminoglycosides.This investigation successfully isolated a multi-drug resistant enterotoxigenic Escherichia coli strain with pronounced pathogenicity from the liver of a deceased tiger;thus providing valuable scientific insights for clinical diagnosis,as well as prevention and control measures,against ETEC infections in South China tigers.

Objective:To summarize the tools and applications of functionality appreciation assessment.Methods:A computerized search was conducted in PubMed, Web of Science, Cochrane Library, Embase, China National Knowledge Infrastructure, Wanfang Data, VIP, and China Biology Medicine disc for literature related to functionality appreciation assessment tools and their applications, with the time frame from database inception to May 12, 2024.Results:A total of 26 articles were included. Functionality appreciation was found to be associated with demographic, physiological, psychological, and social health factors. Functionality appreciation assessment tools demonstrated good psychometric properties across different cultural backgrounds and populations.Conclusions:Functionality appreciation exerts multidimensional benefits on physical and psychological health. However, the available functionality appreciation assessment tools are limited in variety. Future research should further explore the applicability of these tools in different populations in China.

Aim To investigate the effect of Senecio scandens Buch.-Ham on inflammatory pain mediated by mast cell P2X7 receptor.Methods Using the ATP-induced foot inflammatory pain,immunofluores-cence and toluidine blue staining techniques were used to investigate whether Senecio scandens has inhibitory effect on P2X7 receptor on mast cells.Using the calci-um ion imaging experimental technology,to explore whether Senecio scandens inhibit the intracellular cal-cium ion enrichment caused by activation of P2X7 re-ceptor on mouse peritoneal mast cell.The whole-cell patch clamp technique was used to investigate whether senecio scandens could inhibit the inward current in-duced by activation of P2X7 receptor on mouse perito-neal mast cell.Results In vivo,Senecio scandens alle-viate ATP induced inflammatory pain(3.9 g·kg-1:P＜0.05),and significantly inhibited the infiltration of P2X7 receptor-positive mast cells(3.9 g·kg-1:P＜0.05).Knockout of mast cell can reduce the analgesic effect of Senecio scandens(3.9 g·kg-1:P=0.645).In vitro.The experiment results show that senecio scandens can significantly inhibit the calcium influx(300 mg·L-1:P＜0.05;1 g·L-1:P＜0.01;3 g·L-1:P＜0.01)and the inward current mediated by P2X7 receptor in mast cell(1 g·L-1:P＜0.01).Conclusion Senecio scandens alleviate inflammatory pain by inhibiting mast cell P2X7 receptor.
