Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is the most common chronic respiratory disease around the world, and pharmacotherapy is the foremost treatment method currently. In recent decades, with the rapid development of bronchoscopic interventional therapy, endoscopic physical ablation technology presents a therapeutic effect in treating COPD, with few treatment-related side effects, showing excellent application prospects in treating COPD. Since ablation techniques in this field are emerging technologies with low patient acceptance, they are not widely used in the clinical treatment of COPD. This article reviews the development process of physical ablation techniques. Moreover, their current application status and the prospects in the field of COPD treatment are also summarized and analyzed. We hope to promote the application of physical ablation in the clinical treatment of COPD and provide practical references and a theoretical basis for the clinical treatment of COPD.

AIM:To investigate the effects of modified Danggui Yinzi decoction combined with diclofenac sodium eye drops on tear film stability and tear protein levels in patients with allergic conjunctivitis.METHODS:Prospective study. Patients with allergic conjunctivitis who attended Suzhou Hospital of Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine from March 2021 to August 2024 were enrolled as study subjects. They were divided into two groups based on their treatment regimen: a control group(treated with diclofenac sodium eye drops alone)and an observation group(treated with modified Danggui Yinzi decoction combined with diclofenac sodium eye drops). Propensity score matching was used to balance baseline characteristics between the two groups. Log-binomial regression was performed to estimate the risk of adverse reactions. Repeated-measures analysis of variance(ANOVA)was used to assess tear film stability indicators. A difference-in-differences(DID)model was employed to assess the net effect of the combined therapy on changes in tear protein levels.RESULTS:After propensity score matching, a total of 172 patients(344 eyes)were finally enrolled, with 86 patients(172 eyes)in each of the control and observation groups. In the control group, there were 51 males and 35 females, with a mean age of 35.91±10.10 y; in the observation group, there were 49 males and 37 females, with a mean age of 37.87±8.09 y. After treatment, symptom scores decreased in both groups compared with baseline(all P<0.05). At 2 and 4 wk after treatment, symptom scores in the observation group were significantly lower than those in the control group(all P<0.05). The overall response rate was significantly higher in the observation group(89.5%)than in the control group(77.9%)(P<0.05), while the incidence of total adverse reactions was significantly lower in the observation group(7.0%)than in the control group(36.0%)(RR=0.133, P<0.001). Compared with baseline, both groups showed increases in BUT and SⅠt, and a decrease in FL score at 2 and 4 wk after treatment(P<0.017). At 2 and 4 wk after treatment, the BUT and SⅠt levels in the observation group were higher than those in the control group, and the FL score was significantly lower(all P<0.05). The DID model showed that the observation group had greater increases than the control group in lactoferrin(0.411 g/L), total protein(2.792 g/L), secretory immunoglobulin A(14.610 mg/L), and lysozyme(0.419 g/L), respectively(all P<0.05), and these differences remained significant after adjusting for covariates.CONCLUSION:Modified Danggui Yinzi decoction combined with diclofenac sodium eye drops significantly improves tear film stability indicators and tear protein levels in patients with allergic conjunctivitis, and its therapeutic efficacy is superior to that of diclofenac sodium eye drops alone.

Mongolian Journal of Health Sciences 2026;97(7):36-42
Background:
Treatment adherence is essential to maintain treatment effectiveness and reduce complications among patients receiving hemodialysis. Patients are required to attend scheduled dialysis sessions, complete the prescribed dialysis duration, take medications as directed, and follow fluid and dietary restrictions. However, adherence may vary across different components of the treatment regimen.
Aim:
To assess treatment adherence and identify associated reasons and factors among patients receiving hemodialysis.
Materials and Methods:
We conducted a cross-sectional study a total of 260 patients who are receiving hemodialysis at the ‘Medvic’ Hemodialysis Centers located at the First Central Hospital and the Third Central Hospital. We assessed treatment adherence using the Mongolian version of the End-Stage Renal Disease Adherence Questionnaire (ESRD-AQ). We evaluated dialysis attendance and duration, medication use, fluid restriction, dietary adherence, and adherence barriers. Differences in ESRD-AQ total scores across demographic and clinical characteristics were analyzed using the independent-samples t-test and one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA).
Results:
The mean ESRD-AQ total score was 1093.37±99.04. Most participants did not miss (92.3%) or shorten (94.2%) dialysis sessions. In contrast, 57.7% always adhered to fluid restriction and 50.0% always followed dietary recommendations. Although most participants considered treatment recommendations very important, adherence to fluid and dietary restrictions remained comparatively lower. Common barriers included forgetting medication (61.7%), difficulty controlling fluid intake (88.7%), and difficulty avoiding restricted foods (82.5%). ESRD-AQ total scores differed significantly by sex, age group, and employment status (p<0.05).
Conclusion
Overall adherence to the hemodialysis treatment regimen was relatively good, with high compliance with attendance and full dialysis duration. However, adherence to fluid restriction and dietary recommendations remained poor. Furthermore, patients faced challenges such as difficulty monitoring fluid intake, inability to abstain from restricted foods, and forgetting to take medication. The total treatment adherence score differed significantly by gender, age group, and employment status.

Diabetes & Metabolism Journal 2025;49(1):128-143
Background:
The genetic basis for hyperglycaemia in pregnancy remain unclear. This study aimed to uncover the genetic determinants of gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) and investigate their applications.
Methods:
We performed a meta-analysis of genome-wide association studies (GWAS) for GDM in Chinese women (464 cases and 1,217 controls), followed by de novo replications in an independent Chinese cohort (564 cases and 572 controls) and in silico replication in European (12,332 cases and 131,109 controls) and multi-ethnic populations (5,485 cases and 347,856 controls). A polygenic risk score (PRS) was derived based on the identified variants.
Results:
Using the genome-wide scan and candidate gene approaches, we identified four susceptibility loci for GDM. These included three previously reported loci for GDM and type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) at MTNR1B (rs7945617, odds ratio [OR], 1.64; 95% confidence interval [CI],1.38 to 1.96]), CDKAL1 (rs7754840, OR, 1.33; 95% CI, 1.13 to 1.58), and INS-IGF2-KCNQ1 (rs2237897, OR, 1.48; 95% CI, 1.23 to 1.79), as well as a novel genome-wide significant locus near TBR1-SLC4A10 (rs117781972, OR, 2.05; 95% CI, 1.61 to 2.62; Pmeta=7.6×10-9), which has not been previously reported in GWAS for T2DM or glycaemic traits. Moreover, we found that women with a high PRS (top quintile) had over threefold (95% CI, 2.30 to 4.09; Pmeta=3.1×10-14) and 71% (95% CI, 1.08 to 2.71; P=0.0220) higher risk for GDM and abnormal glucose tolerance post-pregnancy, respectively, compared to other individuals.
Conclusion
Our results indicate that the genetic architecture of glucose metabolism exhibits both similarities and differences between the pregnant and non-pregnant states. Integrating genetic information can facilitate identification of pregnant women at a higher risk of developing GDM or later diabetes.

Chinese Journal of Anesthesiology 2025;45(2):203-207
Objective:To evaluate the role of ferroptosis in reduction of intestinal ischemia-reperfusion injury (IRI) by sodium butyrate pretreatment in mice. Methods:Thirty SPF healthy male C57BL/6 mice, aged 6-8 weeks, weighing 20-23 g, were divided into 5 groups ( n=6 each) using a random number table method: sham operation group (S group), intestinal IRI group (IR group), intestinal IRI + sodium butyrate pretreatment group (IN group), intestinal IRI + sodium butyrate pretreatment+ FER-1 group (INF group), and intestinal IRI + sodium butyrate pretreatment + Erastin group (INE group). The intestinal IRI model was established by occluding the superior mesenteric artery for 45 min followed by reperfusion for 30 min in S group. In IN, INF and INE groups, sodium butyrate was administered by gavage at a dose of 500 mg/kg daily at 1 week before developing the model, while the equal volume of normal saline was given by gavage in the other two groups. The ferroptosis inhibitor FER-1 5 mg/kg and ferroptosis agonist Erastin 30 mg/kg were intraperitoneally injected at 1 h prior to ischemia in INF and INE groups. Mice were sacrificed after anesthesia at the end of reperfusion to obtain small intestinal tissues for examination of the pathological changes (using light microscopy) which were scored according to Chiu and for determination of the contents of Fe 2+, malondialdehyde (MDA), glutathione (GSH) and glutathione disulfide(GSSG) (by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay), expression of glutathione peroxidase 4 (GPX4), solute carrier family 7 member 11 (SLC7A11), and ferritin heavy chain 1 (FTH1) (by Western blot). The ratio of GSH to GSSG was calculated. Results:Compared to S group, Chiu′s scores and contents of MDA and Fe 2+ were significantly increased, the expression of GSH, GPX4, FTH1 and SLC7A11 was down-regulated, and the GSH/GSSG ratio was decreased in IR group ( P<0.001). Compared to IR group, Chiu′s scores and contents of MDA and Fe 2+ were significantly decreased, the expression of GSH, GPX4, FTH1 and SLC7A11 was up-regulated, and the GSH/GSSG ratio was increased in IN and INF groups ( P<0.001). Compared to IN group, Chiu′s scores and contents of MDA and Fe 2+ were significantly increased, the expression of GSH, GPX4, FTH1 and SLC7A11 was down-regulated, and the GSH/GSSG ratio was decreased in INE group ( P<0.001). Conclusions:Ferroptosis is involved in sodium butyrate pretreatment-induced reduction of intestinal I/RI in mice.

Journal of China Pharmaceutical University 2025;56(2):166-175
The present study employed UPLC-MS/MS to analyze and identify compounds in the raw powder of Tongluo Shenggu capsules. An HPLC method for the determination of vitexin content was established. The analysis of this drug was performed on a 30 ℃ thermostatic Acquity UPLC® BEH C18 (2.1 mm×100 mm,1.7 μm) column, with the mobile phase comprising 0.2% formic acid-methanol flowing at 0.3 mL /min in a gradient elution manner. Mass spectrometry was detected by ESI sources in both positive and negative ion modes for qualitative identification of chemical constituents. 12 flavonoid and 3 stilbenes compounds in the raw powder of Tongluo Shenggu capsules were successfully identified. Additionally, an HPLC method for the determination of vitexin content was established using a XBridge C18 column (4.6 mm × 250 mm, 5 µm) with a mobile phase of 0.05% glacial acetic acid in methanol for gradient elution, at a column temperature of 30 °C, a flow rate of 1.0 mL/min, and an injection volume of 20 μL. The method demonstrated good linearity in the concentration range of 10 µg/mL to 40 µg/mL (R=1.000) with an average recovery rate of 96.7%. The establishment of these methods provides a scientific basis for the quality control and development of the raw powder of Tongluo Shenggu capsules.
