Objective:To establish the "1+3" management module of high-value consumables in Operation Room and verify its application, so as to provide new ideas for cost management of consumables in Operation Room. Methods:The Operating Room team of Shenzhen Hospital of Southern Medical University designed a "1+3" management module in 2022, where "1" referred to the management process of high-value consumables in Operation Room, and "3" referred to the precise management of consumables in Operation Room warehouse, the management of closed-loop use of Operation Room consumables and adverse event management of consumables. Surgeries using high-value consumables in the Thoracic Surgery Department, Gastrointestinal Surgery Department, and Urology Department of the hospital were selected as the research objects. The surgeries using conventional consumables from January to June 2022 were set as the control group, and the surgeries implementing the "1+3" management module from July to December 2022 were set as the observation group. The number of consumables received by the itinerant nurses before the operation and the number of high-value consumables returned after the operation were compared between the two groups. And the number of missed and error charges for high-value consumables in the two groups were counted and compared. Results:The number of consumables received before operation in the control group was higher than that in the observation group, and the difference was statistically significant ( P<0.05). The number of high-value consumables returned in the observation group was less than that in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant ( P<0.01). The proportion of missed charges for consumables in the observation group was lower than that in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant ( P<0.01), but there was no statistically significant difference in the proportion of incorrect charges between the two groups ( P>0.05) . Conclusions:The "1+3" management module for high-value consumables in Operation Room makes the process of receiving, returning, and charging high-value consumables clear, with traceable data, achieving refined management of high-value consumables in Operation Room, reducing the number of high-value consumables returned to the warehouse and reducing the proportion of missed consumables, which is conducive to effective cost control in Operation Room.

Objective:To investigate the perioperative impact of closure of mesenteric fissure in laparoscopic right hemicolectomy. Methods:The prospective randomized controlled trial was conducted. The clinical data of 320 patients who underwent laparoscopic right hemicolectomy in 11 medical centers, including The First Affiliated Hospital of China Medical University et al, from November 2022 to August 2023 were selected. Based on block randomization, patients were alloca-ted into the mesenteric fissure non-closure group and the mesenteric fissure closure group. Observa-tion indicators: (1) grouping of the enrolled patients; (2) intraoperative conditions; (3) postopera-tive conditions. Measurement data with skewed distribution were represented as M( Q1, Q3) and com-parison between groups was conducted using the Mann-Whitney U test. Count data were represen-ted as absolute numbers or percentages, and comparison between groups was conducted using the chi-square test or Fisher's exact probability. Comparison of ordinal data was conducted using the rank sum test. Comparison of visual analog scores was analyzed using generalized estimating equations. Results:(1) Grouping of the enrolled patients. A total of 320 patients with colon cancer were screened for eligibility, including 156 males and 164 females, aged 68(59,73)years. All the 320 patients were allocated into the mesenteric fissure non-closure group with 164 cases and the mesenteric fissure closure group with 156 cases. There was no significant difference in the age, body mass index, American Society of Anesthesiologist score, maximum tumor diameter, anastomosis location, anastomosis method, surgical approach, range of lymph node dissection, tumor staging between the two groups ( P>0.05) and there was a significant difference in the sex between them ( P<0.05). (2) Intraoperative conditions. There was no significant difference between the mesenteric fissure closure group and the mesenteric fissure non-closure group in the volume of intraoperative blood loss, operation time, conversion to laparotomy, intraoperative complication ( P>0.05). Three patients in the mesenteric fissure non-closure group were converted to laparotomy. One patient in the mesenteric fissure closure group was converted to laparotomy, and 2 cases with intraoperative complication were mesenteric hematoma. (3) Postoperative conditions. There was no significant difference between the mesenteric fissure non-closure group and the mesenteric fissure closure group in the overall postoperative complications ( χ2=0.28, P>0.05). There was no significant difference in the occurrence of postoperative intestinal obstruction, abdominal distension, ascites, pleural effusion, gastric paralysis, anastomotic bleeding, anastomotic leakage, or surgical wound infection between the two groups ( P>0.05). There was no significant difference between the two groups in the reoperation, postoperative gastric tube replacement. There was no significant differ-ence in time to postoperative first flatus, time to postoperative initial liquid food intake, time to post-operative resumption of bowel movements, duration of postoperative hospital stay, total hospital expenses between the two groups ( Z=-0.01, 0.43, 1.04, -0.54, -0.36, P>0.05). One patient in the mesenteric fissure non-closure group received reoperation. No perioperative internal hernia or death occurred in either group. The visual analog score decreased with time in both groups. There was no significant difference in the visual analog score between the mesenteric fissure closure group and the mesenteric fissure non-closure group [ β=-0.20(-0.53,0.13), P>0.05]. Conclusion:Compared with closure of mesenteric fissure, non-closure of mesenteric fissure during laparoscopic right hemi-colectomy dose not increase perioperative complications or postoperative management risk.

OBJECTIVE:
To investigate the effect of low-intensity pulsed ultrasound (LIPUS) on hematopoietic function in rats after combined chemotherapy with doxorubicin and cyclophosphamide.
METHODS:
Eighty rats were randomized into control group and LIPUS group (=40) for treatment with intraperitoneal injection of doxorubicin (2 mg/kg)+cyclophosphamide (20 mg/kg) for 4 consecutive days and continuous irradiation with LIPUS for 7 days following the injections, respectively. The white blood cells, red blood cells and platelets counts in each group were measured at 0, 4, 7, 9, 11, 14 and 18 days after the start of drug administration. The pathological sections of the bone marrow were examined at 0, 4 and 11 days, and the flow cytometry was performed for detecting the cell apoptosis; qPCR was performed for detecting the expressions of SCF, ICAM-1, and VCAM-1 mRNAs, and ELISA was used to detect the expressions of IL-3 and GM-CSF.
RESULTS:
The white blood cell count was significantly higher in LIPUS group than in the control group ( < 0.05). Histopathological examination of the bone marrow revealed significantly increased hematopoietic tissue in LIPUS group ( < 0.05). Flow cytometry demonstrated an obviously lower cell apoptosis rate in the bone marrow in LIPUS group than in the control group ( < 0.05). Compared with those in the control group, the mRNA expression levels of ICAM-1 and VCAM-1 as well as the protein levels of IL-3 and GM-CSF were significantly increased in LIPUS group ( < 0.05).
CONCLUSIONS
LIPUS can alleviate the hematopoietic damage after combined chemotherapy with doxorubicin with cyclophosphamide probably by increasing the expressions of ICAM- 1, VCAM-1, IL- 3, and GM-CSF.

PURPOSE: An older female predominance has been reported among chronic cough patients in Western countries, which is considered to be associated with a higher cough sensitivity in females. However, the characteristics of Chinese chronic cough patients remain unclear. This study aimed to explore the age and sex distribution as well as their relationship with cough reflex sensitivity to capsaicin in Chinese chronic cough patients. METHODS: We analyzed the demographic features of 1,882 consecutive chronic cough patients who attended our cough clinic in Guangzhou, China. Cough sensitivity to capsaicin, which was defined as the lowest concentration of capsaicin causing 5 coughs or more (C5), was measured in 539 of the 1,882 patients and 68 healthy volunteers. RESULTS: The mean age of the patients was 43.0 ± 13.7 years and patients aged <50 years accounted for more than two-thirds of the study population. Around 87% of the patients were never-smokers. The proportion of females (51.5%) was almost equal to that of males (48.5%). The pattern of the age and sex distribution was consistently reflected within most common causes of chronic cough, while a female predominance was shown in patients with cough-variant asthma and patients aged ≥50 years. Female patients had higher cough sensitivity to capsaicin than male patients (log C5: 1.58 ± 0.84 vs. 2.04 ± 0.84 μmol/L, P = 0.001), and patients aged ≥50 years had higher cough sensitivity to capsaicin than patients aged <50 years. CONCLUSIONS: In China, patients with chronic cough have a roughly equal sex distribution and a middle-aged predominance, irrespective of a higher cough sensitivity to capsaicin in females and older patients. Aim To assess the effects of Banqiao Codonopisis Pilosula(BCP)decoction on learning and memory dysfunction in AD model rats induced by high activity GSK-3β and its possible mechanism. Methods The SD rats(4 months old,♂)were divided into five groups,namely,sham-operated group(blank group),AD model group,BCP high-dose(2.16 g·kg-1·d-1)group,BCP medium-dose(1.08 g·kg-1·d-1)group,and BCP lower-dose(0.54 g·kg-1·d-1)group.Treatment group received BCP decoction by gavage once a day for 14 days, while other groups were offered drinking water by gavage once a day for 14 days. The autonomous behavior activities of all rats were observed and recorded after gavage. In the last seven days by gavage,Morris water maze test was used to test the spatial learning and memory ability of the five groups. After five days training, treatment groups and AD model group were injected wortmannin(WT,PI3K specific inhibitor)and GF-109203X(GFX,PKC specific inhibitor)(100 μmol·L-1 of each, total volume of 10 μL)into the right lateral ventricle of the rats. The blank group was only injected 2%DMSO.The spatial memory retention was detected by water maze 24 hours after lateral ventricle injection. Then, changes in the spatial learning memory of rats were observed. The level of Tau phosphorylation in SD rat hippocampus and the expression and activity changes of related protein kinase GSK-3β were detected by Western blot and immunohistochemistry. The changes of Nissl bodies in SD rat hippocampus were observed by Nissl′s staining. Results After intragastric administration of BCP,the rat autonomous behavior activities in each group all showed a declining trend, and the differences in low-dose and middle-dose groups had statistical significance compared with blank group. The Morris water maze tests showed that the latency navigation of model group was significantly longer than that of blank group(P<0.01),while that of the BCP three doses groups was shorter than that of model group(P<0.05).Compared with the same group, the latency navigation of the three groups after gavage BCP low, middle and high dose was significant shorter than that without gavage(P<0.05).Western blot results showed that the activity of GSK-3β in AD model group was up-regulated compared with the blank group. However,BCP inhibited activity of GSK-3β.Western blot and immunohistochemistry results showed the level of Tau phosphorylation in AD model group was increased compared with the blank group in the area of CA3(P<0.05).Compared with AD model group, the level of Tau phosphorylation was decreased in treatment group.Nissl′s staining results showed that dendritic spines in AD model group was significantly attenuated compared with the blank group(P<0.05).Far more dendritic spines were observed in treatment group than in AD model group. The number of Nissl′s bodies in neuron cells of hippocampus in hippocampal CA3 was obviously larger in treatment groups than in AD model group. These effect of BCP was dose-dependent.Conclusions BCP can prevent the learning and memory dysfunction in AD model rats induced by high activity of GSK-3β.The mechanism may be related to inhibiting GSK-3β activity and then reducing the level of phosphorylation of Tau and improving neural development.

OBJECTIVEA study was conducted to investigate the relevant applied technique and clinical value of endoscope-assisted repair of zygomatic arch fracture.
METHODSA total of 10 cases of unilateral zygomatic arch fracture and 8 cases ofunilateral zygomatic fracture were included. Reduction and fixation of the zygomatic arch in all cases were performed via asmall face incision by an endoscope. Endoscope-assisted repair allowed exposure of zygomatic arch fracture and ended the anatomy of the reset. Zygomatic arch was stabilized with titanium plates.
RESULTSSymmetric malar was achieved in allcases after operation. Patients did not show difficulty in opening the mouth. No chewing problems or severe complicationswere evident. This method had the advantage of hidden incision, and it did not leave scars on the face. Postoperative CT examination showed excellent reduction of zygomatic arch fracture and good fixed position of titanium plate.
CONCLUSIONEndoscope-assisted repair of zygomatic arch fracture via a small face incision can be an alternative operation for zygomaticarch fracture. Patients are less traumatized. There are fewer complications. A good reduction of fracture is achieved.

Objective To investigate the value of two-dimensional and three-dimensional transesophageal echocardiography (3DTEE) in transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI). Methods Eleven patients with severe aortic stenosis and one patient with moderate to severe prosthetic valve regurgitation underwent TAVI in Zhongshan Hospital of Fudan University from May 2010 to December 2015. All patients received two-dimensional and three-dimensional transthoracic and transesophageal echocardiographic examination before surgery, during and after surgery. Results Procedural success was achieved in eleven patients, but one patient died in pericardial tamponade and aortic dissection three days after TAVI. The maximum and minimum diameter of aortic annule, the area of aortic annule and aortic valve were measured by multidetector computed tomography (MDCT) and 3DTEE before surgery. All parameters had strong correlations between MDCT and 3DTEE (r=0.98,P<0.01 for maximum diameter;r=0.97,P<0.01 for minimum diameter;r=0.97,P<0.01 for the area of aortic annule;r=0.99, P<0.01 for the area of aortic valve). There were good correlations for the area of aortic valve among MDCT, 3DTEE and equation of continuity (allr=0.99,P<0.01).ConclusionTwo-dimensional and three dimensional transesophageal echocardiography can quantify the size of aortic annular and comprehensively evaluate the anatomical structure of aorta rapidly and accurately, which can be used in guiding TAVI and monitoring its complications in real time.
