Microplastics and nanoplastics (MPs/NPs) are ubiquitous environmental pollutants that act as endocrine-disrupting chemicals (EDCs), raising significant concerns about their impact on human health. Research highlights the hazardous effects of MPs/NPs on both male and female reproductive systems, influencing germ cells, embryo development, and progeny. Additionally, studies show that MPs/NPs affect the gene expression of anabolic steroid hormones in vitro and in vivo, inducing reproductive toxicity through mechanisms such as oxidative stress and inflammation. Considering these adverse effects, identifying natural compounds that can mitigate the toxicity of MPs/NPs is increasingly important. Plants offer a wealth of antioxidants and anti-inflammatory compounds that can counteract these harmful effects. Among these, anthocyanins, natural colorants responsible for the vibrant hues of fruits and flowers, exhibit a wide range of biological activities, including antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and anti-neoplastic properties. Moreover, anthocyanins can modulate sex hormone levels and alleviate reproductive toxicity. Cyanidin-3-glucoside (C3G), one of the most extensively studied anthocyanins, shows promise in reducing reproductive toxicity, particularly in females, and in protecting male reproductive organs, including the testis and epididymis. This protective effect is believed to result from its interaction with steroid receptors, specifically the androgen and estrogen receptors (ERs). These findings highlight the need to explore the mechanisms by which anthocyanins mitigate the reproductive toxicity caused by MPs/NPs. This review provides novel insights into how natural compounds can be leveraged to lessen the impact of environmental contaminants on human health, especially concerning reproductive health.

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the regulatory effect of electroacupuncture (EA) at "Neiguan" (PC6) on mitochondrial autophagy in rats with myocardial ischemia-reperfusion injury (MIRI) at different phases (ischemia and reperfusion phases), and to explore the bidirectional regulatory effects of EA at "Neiguan" (PC6) and its potential mechanism. METHODS: Forty-five male SD rats were randomly divided into 6 groups according to the random number table method, namely, sham-operation group (n=9), model-A group (n=6), model-B group (n=9), EA-A1 group (n=6), EA-B1 group (n=6), and EA-B2 group (n=9). Except the rats in the sham-operation group, the MIRI model was established in the other groups with the physical ligation and tube pushing method. In the model-A group, the samples were collected directly after ligation, and in the model-B group, the samples were collected after ligation and reperfusion. In the EA-A1 group, EA was delivered while the ligation was performed, and afterwards, the samples were collected. In the EA-B1 group, while the ligation was performed, EA was operated at the same time, and after reperfusion, the samples were collected. In the EA-B2 group, during ligation and the opening of the left anterior descending branch of the coronary artery, EA was delivered, and after reperfusion, the samples were collected. EA was performed at bilateral "Neiguan" (PC6), with a disperse-dense wave, a frequency of 2 Hz/100 Hz, a current of 1 mA, and a duration of 30 min. HE staining was employed to observe the morphology of cardiomyocytes, TUNEL was adopted to detect the apoptosis of cardiomyocytes, transcriptome sequencing was to detect the differentially expressed genes in the left ventricle, JC-1 flow cytometry was to detect the mitochondrial membrane potential (MMP) of cardiomyocytes, Western blot was to detect the protein expression of phosphatase and tensin homolog-induced kinase 1 (Pink1), Parkin and p62 in the left ventricle of rats, and ELISA was to detect the levels of serum creatine kinase isoenzyme (CK-MB) and cardiac troponin I (cTn-I) in the rats. RESULTS: Compared with the sham-operation group, the cardiomyocytes of rats in the model-B group were severely damaged, with disordered arrangement, unclear boundaries, broken muscle fibers, edema and loose distribution; and the cardiomyocytes in the EA-B2 group were slightly damaged, the cell structure was partially unclear, the cells were arranged more regularly, and the intact cardiomyocytes were visible. Compared with the sham-operation group, the apoptosis of cardiomyocytes increased in the model-B group (P<0.001); and when compared with the model-B group, the apoptosis alleviated in the EA-B2 group (P<0.001). The differentially expressed genes among the EA-B2 group, the sham-operation group and the model-B group were closely related to cell autophagy and mitochondrial autophagy. Compared with the sham-operation group, MMP of cardiomyocytes was reduced (P<0.001), the protein expression of Pink1, Parkin, and p62 of the left ventricle and the levels of serum CK-MB and cTn-I were elevated in the model B group (P<0.001). In comparison with model-A group, the MMP of cardiomyocytes and the levels of serum CK-MB and cTn-I were reduced (P<0.001, P<0.05), and the protein expression of Pink1 in the left ventricle rose in the EA-A1 group (P<0.01). Compared with the model-B group, MMP of cardiomyocytes increased (P<0.001), the protein expression of Pink1, Parkin, and p62 of the left ventricle, and the levels of serum CK-MB and cTn-I decreased (P<0.001) in the EA-B1 group and the EA-B2 group. When compared with the EA-A1 group, MMP of cardiomyocytes increased (P<0.001), and the protein expression of Pink1, Parkin, and p62 of the left ventricle, and the levels of serum CK-MB and cTn-I decreased in the EA-B1 group (P<0.01). CONCLUSION EA at "Neiguan" (PC6) can ameliorate MIRI in rats, which may be achieved through the Pink1/Parkin-mediated mitochondrial autophagy pathway. EA can alleviate myocardial injury by enhancing mitochondrial autophagy at the ischemia phase, and it can reduce reperfusion injury by weakening mitochondrial autophagy at the reperfusion phase.

The randomized controlled trials (RCTs) regarding acupuncture direction published from January 1st, 2013, to November 7th, 2023 were searched in China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), Wanfang Data Knowledge Service Platform, and VIP Chinese Journal Database. As a result, 21 RCTs were included. The problems identified included conceptual misunderstandings regarding acupuncture direction, incomplete selection strategies, confounding research factors, and inaccuracies in reporting. Based on the findings, four strategic approaches for enhancing therapeutic efficacy through acupuncture direction were summarized: aligning needle direction with the meridian pathway, directing the needle toward the lesion site, orienting the needle toward adjacent acupoints, and targeting special anatomical structures. Two additional strategies were proposed for optimizing the procedure: simplifying acupuncture operations and directing the needle toward safe anatomical sites. Recommendations were made to improve the rationality of research factor settings and the completeness of acupuncture operation reporting. Furthermore, three methods for reporting acupuncture direction were discussed: reporting the tip-pointed position, reporting the insertion angle and orientation, and reporting azimuth and polar angles, aiming to promote greater standardization and completeness in acupuncture practice and reporting.

OBJECTIVES: To explore the molecular mechanism of Jiangzhi Huaban Decoction (JZHBD) for improving atherosclerosis through the "qi meridian-blood channels" pathway. METHODS: ApoE^-/- mouse models of atherosclerosis were established by high-fat diet feeding for 8 weeks, with C57BL/6 mice on a normal diet as the controls. Forty ApoE^-/- mouse models were randomized into model group, low-, medium-, and high-dose JZHBD treatment groups, and atorvastatin treatment group (n=8) for their respective treatments for 8 weeks. The changes in body weight and overall condition of the mice were monitored weekly. After the treatments, serum levels of TC, TG, HDL-C, LDL-C, TBA, ALT, and AST of the mice were measured, pathological changes in the liver and aortic root plaques were examined with HE staining, and lipid accumulation in the liver and aortic wall was assessed using Oil Red O staining. The core molecular mechanism was studied through transcriptomics, and the expressions of the key pathway proteins were confirmed using Western blotting and immunohistochemistry. RESULTS: Treatment with JZHBD significantly reduced blood lipid and total bile acid levels, improved liver function and hepatic steatosis, and decreased aortic lipid deposition and plaque area in the mouse models of atherosclerosis. Transcriptomic analysis suggested that the therapeutic mechanism of JZHBD involved reverse cholesterol transport, PPAR signaling, and the inflammatory pathways. In atherosclerotic mice, JZHBD treatment obviously up-regulated hepatic expressions of PPARγ, LXRα, ABCA1, ABCG1, and CYP7A1, down-regulated hepatic expressions of p-p65/p65, IL-6, IL1β in the liver, increased ABCG5 and ABCG8 expressions in the intestines, and decreased ICAM-1 and VCAM-1 expressions in the aortic plaques. CONCLUSIONS JZHBD improves atherosclerotic vascular damage and plaque formation possibly by regulating hepatic reverse cholesterol transport and inflammation via modulating the hepatic PPARγ/LXRα/NF-κB signaling pathway.

Objective:To discuss the effects of microRNA(miR)-199a-5p overexpression on cell migration and apoptosis in the glioblastoma U251 cells,and to clarify the targeting regulatory relationship between miR-199a-5p and caveolin-1(CAV-1).Methods:The glioblastoma U251 cells and oligodendroglioma Hs683 cells were cultured in vitro.Western blotting method was used to detect the expression levels of CAV-1 protein in 2 kinds of cells;real-time fluorescence quantitative PCR(RT-qPCR)method was used to detect the expression levels of miR-199a-5p in 2 kinds of cells.The U251 cells were divided into blank group(non-transfection),mimics NC group(transfected with empty vector),and miR-199a-5p mimics group(transfected with miR-199a-5p mimics).The Hs683 cells were divided into blank group(no transfection),inhibitor NC group(transfected with empty vector),and miR-199a-5p inhibitor group(transfected with miR-199a-5p inhibitor).RT-qPCR method was used to detect the transfection efficiency of the cells in various groups;Western blotting method was used to detect the expression levels of CAV-1 protein in the cells in various groups.TargetScan database was used to predict the binding sites between miR-199a-5p and CAV-1 in the 3'untrans lated region(3'UTR);psiCHECKTM-2-CAV-1-WT and psiCHECKTM-2-CAV-1-Mut were co-transfected with miR-199a-5p mimics and mimics NC into the U251 cells,respectively,forming psiCHECKTM-2-CAV-1-WT+mimics NC group,psiCHECKTM-2-CAV-1-WT+miR-199a-5p mimics group,psiCHECKTM-2-CAV-1-Mut+mimics NC group,and psiCHECKTM-2-CAV1-Mut+miR-199a-5p mimics group;dual-luciferase reporter gene assay was used to verify the targeting relationship between miR-199a-5p and CAV-1;cell scratch assay was used to detect the scratch healing rates of the U251 cells in various groups;flow cytometry was used to detect the apoptotic rates of the U251 cells in various groups.Results:The Western blotting and RT-qPCR results showed that compared with Hs683 cells,the expression level of CAV-1 protein in the U251 cells was significantly decreased(P<0.05);compared with U251 cells,the expression level of miR-199a-5p in the Hs683 cells was significantly increased(P<0.01).Compared with blank group and mimics NC group,the expression level of miR-199a-5p in the U251 cells in miR-199a-5p mimics group was significantly increased(P<0.01),the expression level of CAV-1 protein in the U251 cells in miR-199a-5p mimics group was significantly decreased(P<0.05).Compared with blank group,the expression levels of miR-199a-5p in the Hs683 cells in inhibitor NC group and miR-199a-5p inhibitor group were significantly decreased(P<0.01).No significant differences were observed in the expression levels of CAV-1 protein in the Hs683 cells among various groups(P>0.05).The dual-luciferase reporter gene assay results showed that psiCHECKTM-2-CAV-1-wild type(WT)and psiCHECKTM-2-CAV-1-mutant(Mut)expression vectors were successfully constructed;compared with psiCHECKTM-2-CAV-1-WT-mimics NC group,the relative luciferase activity of WT CAV-1 in the U251 cells in psiCHECKTM-2-CAV-1-WT-miR-199a-5p mimics group was significantly decreased(P<0.01).The cell scratch assay results showed that at 12,24,and 48 h after transfection,compared with blank group,the scratch healing rate of the U251 cells in miR-199a-5p mimics group was significantly decreased(P<0.05 or P<0.01).The flow cytometry results showed that compared with blank group and mimics NC group,the apoptotic rate of the U251 cells in miR-199a-5p mimics group was significantly increased(P<0.01).Conclusion:Transfection of mature miR-199a-5p mimics into the glioblastoma U251 cells can reduce the expression of CAV-1 protein,inhibit glioma cell migration,promote apoptosis,and suppress tumorigenesis and development.The targeting relationship between miR-199a-5p and CAV-1 may represent a potential mechanism for glioma development and could serve as a potential diagnostic and therapeutic target for glioma.

ObjectiveTo clarify the relationship between intestinal flora and intestinal motility in rats with slow transit constipation （STC） and qi stagnation syndrome by conducting a pseudo-sterile experiment and fecal microbiota transplantation （FMT） technology. MethodsTwenty-four Wistar rats were randomly divided into normal group （n=6）， STC with qi stagnation pattern group （n=6） and pseudo-sterile group （n=12）. In the STC group with qi stagnation pattern， 3 mg/kg of loperamide suspension by intragastric administration combined with tail clamping stimulation were performed to establish the rat model of STC with qi stagnation pattern. After successful modeling， fresh feces from the rats in the STC with qi stagnation pattern group and the normal group were collected to prepare 100 mg/ml of fecal bacterial suspension. In the pseudo-sterile group， the antibiotic cocktail method was used （a mixed antibiotic suspension containing bacitracin， streptomycin sulfate， and neomycin sulfate at 20 mg/ml each was administered intragastrically） to establish pseudo-sterile rats model. After successful modeling， the rats were randomly divided into normal fecal bacterial liquid group and STC with qi stagnation pattern fecal bacterial liquid group， with six rats in each group， and then were given 10 ml/kg of the prepared corresponding rat fecal bacterial suspension by gavage. Rats in STC with qi stagnation pattern group were given an equal volume of sterile water by gavage. All groups were administered once a day for 7 consecutive days. The small intestinal propulsion rate of the STC with qi stagnation pattern group， the normal fecal bacterial liquid group， and STC with qi stagnation pattern fecal bacterial liquid group were compared. ELISA method was used to detect serum 5-hydroxytryptamine （5-HT） levels. Immunohistochemistry was used to detect the positive expression levels of 5-hydroxytryptamine 3 receptor （5-HT3R） and 5-hydroxytryptamine 4 receptor （5-HT4R） in colon tissue. Western blot method was used to detect the protein expression levels of tryptophan hydroxylase 1 （TPH1）， tryptophan hydroxylase 2 （TPH2）， serotonin transporter （SERT）， and monoamine oxidase A （MAO-A） in colon tissue. ResultsCompared to those in the normal fecal bacterial liquid group， the small intestinal propulsion rate， serum 5-HT level， positive expression of 5-HT3R and 5-HT4R in colon tissue， and protein expression of TPH1， TPH2， SERT and MAO-A significantly decreased in the STC with qi stagnation pattern group and STC with qi stagnation pattern fecal bacterial liquid group （P＜0.05）. There was no statistically significant difference in the indicators between the STC with qi stagnation pattern group and STC with qi stagnation pattern fecal bacterial liquid group （P＞0.05）. ConclusionThe intestinal flora in STC rats with qi stagnation pattern can lead to a slowdown in intestinal transmission function， whose mechanism may be related to intestinal motility disorders affected by the synthesis， transport， metabolism and other pathways of 5-HT.

Objective To explore the feasibility and short-term clinical efficacy of single segment thora-columbar tuberculosis treated with one-stage posterior approach lamina-sparing decompression.Methods A total of 11 patients with single segment thoracolumbar tuberculosis who underwent one-stage posterior ap-proach preservation of vertebral plate lesion removal,bone graft fusion,and internal fixation treatment in this hospital from September 2021 to June 2022 were selected.C-reactive protein(CRP)and erythrocyte sedimen-tation rate(ESR)were monitored to evaluate tuberculosis bacteremia and activity control,visual analogue scale(VAS)score and Oswestry disability index(ODI)were followed up to evaluate the improvement of clin-ical function,and the American Spinal Injury Association(ASIA)injury scale was used to evaluate neurologi-cal function,and the correction of kyphosis was followed up.Results All 11 patients were fully followed up.The average surgical duration is(270.91±45.98)minutes,and the average surgical bleeding is(522.72± 194.11)mL.During the follow-up period,none of the 11 patients experienced tuberculosis recurrence,and all 11 patients achieved bone graft fusion.The fusion time was 6-9 months after surgery with an average of(7.36±1.12)months.Two patients with preoperative nerve damage recovered after surgery.During the fol-low-up period,11 patients did not experience any complications related to surgery.The average CRP,ESR,ODI score,and VAS score of postoperative patients decreased compared to preoperative levels,and further de-creased at 12 months after surgery;The patient's kyphosis caused by thoracolumbar tuberculosis was correc-ted,and no obvious angle loss was found at the last follow-up(P＞0.05).Conclusion One-stage posterior ap-proach lamina-sparing decompression is a safe and effective method for treating single segment thoracolumbar tuberculosis.

BackgroundCompared with absenteeism， health-related productivity loss has a long-lasting negative effect， and poses a greater harm and loss. The health-related productivity loss is mediated by self-efficacy， and perceived social support has been shown to have an impact on health-related productivity loss， whereas the interaction mechanism among the three remains unclear. ObjectiveTo investigate the status of perceived social support， occupational coping self-efficacy and health-related productivity loss among ICU nurses， and to test the mediation role of perceived social support in the relationship between occupational coping self-efficacy and health-related productivity loss. MethodsFrom September to November， 2021， purposive sampling technique was adopted to select 468 ICU nurses in 8 tertiary hospitals in Sichuan Province. Subjects were assessed using self-made general information questionnaire， Perceived Social Support Scale （PSSS）， Occupational Coping Self Efficacy Scale for Nurses （OCSE-N） and Stanford Presenteeism Scale-6 （SPS-6）. Pearson correlation analysis was used to examine the correlation among variables. Amos 24.0 was utilized to test the mediation role of perceived social support in the relationship between occupational coping self-efficacy and health-related productivity loss. ResultsA total of 415 ICU nurses completed the valid questionnaire survey. ICU nurses scored （63.13±11.62） on PSSS， （22.24±6.15） on OCSE-N， and （16.83±4.24） on SPS-6. Health-related productivity loss was detected in 279 ICU nurses （67.23%）. Correlation analysis denoted that PSSS total score was positively correlated with OCSE-N total score （r=0.348， P<0.05）， and negatively correlated with SPS-6 total score （r=-0.274， P<0.05）. OCSE-N total score was negatively correlated with SPS-6 total score （r=-0.421， P<0.05）. The direct effect value of occupational coping self-efficacy on health-related productivity loss was -0.401， and perceived social support showed a mediation role in the relationship between occupational coping self-efficacy and health-related productivity loss （the indirect effect value was -0.052， accounting for 11.48% of the total effect）. ConclusionThe occupational coping self-efficacy of ICU nurses may affect the health-related productivity loss through the action path of perceived social support.［Funded by Scientific Research Project of Sichuan Provincial Health Commission （number， 19PJ042）］

Objective To analyze the research status and trend of scarlet fever literature in China, and to provide reference for subsequent research. Methods Three major Chinese databases, CNKI, Wanfang, and VIP, as well as Web of Science English database, were used to search for literature related to scarlet fever from 2000 to 2023. Citespace6.2.R2 software was used to statistically analyze the number of publications, authors, institutions and journals, co-cited literature, keyword clustering, and other literature characteristics of the literature. Results From 2000 to 2023, a total of 1 011 Chinese literature were included in the three major Chinese databases. Since 2011, the number of publications had gradually increased, but in recent years, the number of publications had decreased. The organization with the most publications was the Shenyang Center for Disease Control and Prevention. The cluster analysis of key words mainly formed 9 cluster tags, and the high-frequency keywords mainly included epidemic characteristics, epidemiology, incidence rate, etc. A total of 84 English literature were included in the WOS database, with an overall upward trend in publication volume. The institution with the most publications was the China Center for Disease Control and Prevention, and the most frequently cited journal was ^“LANCET INFECT DIS^”.《Resurgence of scarlet fever in China: a 13-year population-based surveillance study》 was the most cited journal. After keyword cluster analysis, 9 cluster labels were mainly formed, and the keywords were mainly outbreak，Hong Kong, and Group A streptococcus. Conclusion Compared with the English literature, which mainly focuses on spatiotemporal aggregation, etiology and strain resistance, Chinese literature focuses more on epidemic surveillance, clinical features and quality nursing.
