In cases where a tracheal injury exceeds half the length of the adult trachea or one-third of the length of the child trachea, it becomes difficult to perform end-to-end anastomosis after tracheal resection due to excessive tension at the anastomosis site. In such cases, tracheal replacement therapy is required. Advances in tissue engineering technology have led to the development of tissue engineering tracheal substitutes, which have promising applications. Hydrogels, which are highly hydrated and possess a good three-dimensional network structure, biocompatibility, low immunogenicity, biodegradability, and modifiability, have had wide applications in the field of tissue engineering. This article provides a review of the characteristics, advantages, disadvantages, and effects of various hydrogels commonly used in tissue engineering trachea in recent years. Additionally, the article discusses and offers prospects for the future application of hydrogels in the field of tissue engineering trachea.

BACKGROUND: China is one of the countries with the highest burdens of stomach cancer. The objective of this study was to analyze long-term trends in the incidence and mortality of stomach cancer in Chinese mainland from 1990 to 2019 and to make projections until 2030. METHODS: Data on stomach cancer were extracted from the Global Burden of Diseases Study 2019. Population data were extracted from the Global Burden of Diseases Study 2019 and World Population Prospects 2019. An age-period-cohort framework and decomposition analysis were used in this study. RESULTS: The net drift for the incidence of stomach cancer was 0.2% (95% confidence interval [CI]: 0, 0.4%) per year for men and -1.8% (95% CI: -2.0%, -1.6%) for women. The net drift for mortality was -1.6% (95% CI: -1.8%, -1.3%) per year for men and -3.3% (95% CI: -3.5%, -3.1%) for women. In the last 10-15 years, the risk of stomach cancer occurrence and death has continued to decline for both sexes. Regarding birth cohorts, although the risk of stomach cancer death decreased in general among women and men born after 1920, the risk of occurrence increased in recent birth cohorts (men born after 1970 and women born after 1985). It is expected that the age-standardized incidence will increase among men and decrease among women, and age-standardized mortality will decrease for both sexes. The largest contributor to the projected increase in incident cases and deaths is population aging, and elderly individuals are projected to have an increased proportion of occurrence and death. CONCLUSIONS In the past three decades, the incidence of stomach cancer among men has increased in Chinese mainland, and this trend is projected to continue. Aging will be the main contributor to future increased stomach cancer occurrence and deaths. To reduce the health impact of stomach cancer, more efforts are needed.

Hippo signaling is a highly conserved pathway central to diverse cellular processes. Dysregulation of this pathway not only leads to developmental abnormalities but is also closely related to the occurrence and progression of various cancers. Recent studies have uncovered that, in addition to the classical signaling cascade regulation, biomolecular condensates formed via phase separation play a key role in the spatiotemporal regulation of Hippo signaling. In this review, we provide a summary of the latest research progress on the regulation of the Hippo signaling pathway by phase separation, with a particular focus on transcriptional activation mediated by Yes-associated protein (YAP)/transcriptional coactivator with post-synaptic density-95, disks-large, and zonula occludens-1 (PDZ)-binding domain (TAZ) condensates. Furthermore, we discuss the utility of chemical crosslinking combined with mass spectrometry to analyze the TAZ condensate interactome and examine the role of the protein fused in sarcoma (FUS) in modulating the biophysical properties of TAZ condensates, which in turn influence their transcriptional activity and pro-tumorigenic functions. These insights not only advance our understanding of Hippo signaling but also offer new perspectives for therapeutic interventions targeting diseases linked to dysregulated YAP/TAZ activity.

Objective To evaluate the application of evidence-based perioperative patient-controlled analgesia(PCA)management in patients with liver cancer receiving transcatheter arterial chemoembolization(TACE)treatment.Methods By using the application model of clinical evidence-based practice,the review indicators were formulated based on the best evidence.The baseline assessment was conducted,the barrier factors were analyzed,the best clinical decision was made,the implementation steps of PCA management,including training,monitoring,education,etc.were refined,and two rounds of clinical review were carried out.The knowledge-belief-practice level and the implementation of review indicators in 50 medical and nursing staff engaged in PCA management,as well as the changes in pain scores,the incidence of adverse reactions due to PCA management,and the patient's satisfaction in 159 patients after the application of evidence were compared with their corresponding values determined before the application of evidence.Results After implementing the evidence-based practice plan and applying the evidence,at multiple time points the pain scores and the incidences of adverse reactions were decreased significantly(P＜0.05),the patient's satisfaction increased remarkably(P＜0.01),the execution rate of medical and nursing staff for the review indicators were strikingly increased(P＜0.01),and the knowledge-belief-practice level concerning PCA management was prominently improved(P＜0.01).Conclusion The implementation of perioperative PCA management in patients with liver cancer receiving TACE treatment can help to reduce the perioperative pain level,improve the patient discomfort,increase the patient's satisfaction degree,and improve the ability of medical staff in performing PCA management and evidence-based practices.

Objective To analyze the current research application status and hotspots of nanoparticles in the treatment of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and predict the future development trend. Methods The Web of Science database was searched for literatures on nanoparticles use in the treatment of NSCLC from inception to November 2022. CiteSpace, VOSviewer and literature measurement analysis online platform (https://bibliometric.com/) were used for the visual analysis of the number of documents, source journals, authors, organizations, countries and keywords. Results A total of 742 English literatures were included. The results showed that the number of published literatures increased year by year from 2011 and reached the peak in 2020. Researches on nanoparticles and NSCLC treatment were mainly concentrated in China, the United States, India and Japan. China is a major research country in this field, but it lacked cooperation with other countries and related institutions. Among numerous research institutions, the Chinese Academy of Sciences was the authoritative and backbone force in this research field, with the number of published literatures ranking first and the research achievements outstanding. The keyword analysis found that "poly lactic-co-glycolic acid nanoparticles (PLGA NPs)" and "photothermal therapy" had become the latest breakout words since 2018. Moreover, the occurrence frequency of related keywords such as "drug delivery" increased significantly, indicating that the application of PLGA NPs in photothermal therapy might be the current research hotspot and future development trend of NSCLC treatment. Conclusion Currently, the domestic research on the treatment of nanoparticles and NSCLC is in a leading position in the world. The organic combination of nanoparticles with different materials and other NSCLC therapies is expected to improve the prognosis of NSCLC patients. In the future, attempts to develop nanoparticles with different sources and structures and combined with photothermal therapy for the treatment of NSCLC may become a research hotspot of nanoparticles in the treatment of NSCLC.

Objective:To analyze immune reconstitution and influencing factors in HIV infected men who have sex with men (MSM) with access to antiviral therapy (ART) in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region (Guangxi) during 2005-2021.Methods:The data were collected from Chinese Disease Prevention and Control Information System. The study subjects were HIV infected MSM with access to the initial ART for ≥24 weeks in Guangxi from 2005 to 2021 and HIV RNA lower than the detection limit within 24 months. The proportion of infected MSM who had immune reconstitution after ART was calculated. Cox proportional hazard regression model was used to analyze the influencing factors of immune reconstitution. Software SPSS 24.0 was used for statistical analysis.Results:A total of 3 200 HIV infected MSM were enrolled, in whom 15.56 % (498/3 200) had no immune reconstitution, 14.78% (473/3 200) had moderate immune reconstitution, and the rate of complete immune reconstitution was 69.66% (2 229/3 200). The M ( Q1, Q3) of ART time for immune reconstitution was 12 (5, 27) months. Multivariate Cox proportional risk regression model analysis results showed that compared with those with initial ART at age ≥30 years, WHO clinical stage Ⅲ/Ⅳ illness, baseline BMI <18.50 kg/m 2 and baseline CD4 +T lymphocyte (CD4) counts <200 cells/μl, HIV infected MSM with initial ART at age <30 years, WHO clinical stageⅠ/Ⅱ illness, baseline BMI≥24.00 kg/m 2 and baseline CD4 counts ≥200 cells/μl were more likely to have complete immune reconstitution. Conclusions:In the HIV infected MSM in Guangxi, failures to achieve moderate and complete immune reconstitution were observed. Surveillance and ART regimen should be improved for key populations, such as those with older age and low baseline CD4 counts.

Objective To investigate the changes of cortical thickness in patients with insomnia disorder(ID).Methods High-resolution MRI data were collected from 32 ID patients(ID group)and 30 healthy controls(HC)(HC group).The cortical thickness of both groups were analyzed using statistical parametric mapping 12(SPM12)software,while considering age,gender,and educational level as covariates.The cortical thickness in brain regions showed statistically significant differences was extracted for Pearson's correla-tion analyses with sleep and mood-related scales.Results Compared with the HC group,the ID group exhibited significantly decreased cortical thickness in brain regions such as the left insula,fusiform gyrus,orbitofrontal lobe,superior temporal gyrus,middle temporal gyrus,lateral occipital lobe and right caudal anterior cingulate gyrus[P＜0.05,family-wise error(FWE)correction].Furthermore,reduced cortical thickness of the cingulate gyrus was negatively correlated with the Pittsburgh sleep quality index(PSQI)score(r=-0.437,P=0.012).Conclusion The cortical thickness of several brain regions associated with sleep and mood are significantly reduced in patients with ID,providing potential neuroimaging evidence for understanding the pathophysiological mechanism of ID.

Objective To construct a new model for the progressive training of nursing assistants using a"two-pronged approach,"providing references for management departments to formulate training strategies for nursing assistants.Methods Guided by the core competencies of nursing assistants,the Delphi expert consultation method was employed to solicit opinions from 18 experts across 7 provinces to develop the new training model.Results A total of two rounds of consultations were con-ducted,achieving a 100.00％response rate.The experts'authority coefficients were 0.935,and the Kendall harmony coeffi-cients for the two rounds were 0.240 and 0.256(P＜0.001),respectively.Ultimately,nursing assistants were categorized into five levels,which include stratified competency standards,training plans,and promotion requirements.Conclusion The new model for the progressive training of nursing assistants is scientifically rigorous and aligns with professional demands.It offers guiding sig-nificance for the training of nursing assistants and can be appropriately adjusted based on the actual situation of hospitals.

Objective This study aims to explore the psychological experiences of patients with Stanford Type A aortic dissection during different stages of their hospital stay.Methods Using purposive sampling,10 patients treated for Stanford Type A aortic dissection from May to August 2022 at a tertiary A general hospital in Guangdong Province were selected as study subjects.Semi-structured interviews were conducted,and the data were analyzed using interpretative phenomenological analysis to extract themes.Results 3 primary themes and 14 sub-themes were identified.1.During the diagnosis phase,patients experienced increased uncertainty,with a strong need for information and emotional support.This included fear of the emergency environment,enhanced sense of the unknown,a desire for attention from medical staff,and hope to have surgery soon.2.During the treatment phase,patients had cognitive bias and low treatment compliance,including fear of monitor alarms,rejection of medical devices and tubes,a sense of lost dignity during treatment,feelings of helplessness due to physical restrictions,and despair over prolonged ICU stays.3.In the recovery phase,patients anticipated and were worried about significant life changes,including a shift in mindset to actively face future life,feelings of guilt towards family members,concerns about artificial blood vessel implants,anxiety about social participation,and worries about disease self-management and prognosis.Conclusion The psychological experiences and needs of patients with Stanford Type A aortic dissection vary during different stages of their hospital stay.During the diagnosis phase,medical staff should strengthen information and emotional support;during the treatment phase,they should enhance communication and psychological counseling;and during the recovery phase,medical staff should improve patients'disease self-management skills,enhance their level of social support,and guide the awakening of positive psychological experiences.

Objective To investigate the effects of Carthamus tinctorius L.extract(CTLE)on the levels of oxidative stress and inflammation in mice with ethanol-induced alcoholic liver disease and its mechanism of action.Methods SPF-grade C57BL/6 male mice were randomly divided into four groups:control group,model group,low-CTLE group(50 mg·kg-1),and high-CTLE group(100 mg·kg-1).The control group was given Lieber-Decarli liquid diet,and the other groups were given Lieber-Decarli alcohol diet to construct a chronic alcoholic liver injury model in mice.Serum and liver tissues of mice were collected and serum biochemical indexes of mice were detected.HE and oil red O staining were applied to observe pathological changes in mouse liver tissues.Real-time fluorescence quantitative PCR and Western Blot were used to detect the mRNA and protein expression levels of Keap1/Nrf2 and STAT3/NF-κB pathway-related factors.Results Compared with the model group,the ALT,AST,LDL-C,and MDA levels were significantly reduced(P＜0.05,P＜0.01),while the levels of HDL-C,SOD,and GSH were increased dramatically in the administered group(P＜0.05,P＜0.01),which indicated that CTLE has specific protective and antioxidant effects on alcoholic liver injury in mice.HE staining and oil red O staining showed that the hepatic lesions and lipid deposition of mice were ameliorated.It enhances the antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects of the body by activating the mRNA and protein expression levels of antioxidant factors related to the Keap1/Nrf2 pathway and inhibiting the mRNA and protein expression levels of inflammatory factors related to STAT3/NF-κB pathway(P＜0.05,P＜0.01).Conclusion It was shown that CTLE could exert anti-oxidative stress and anti-inflammatory effects through regulating Keap1/Nrf2 and STAT3/NF-κB signaling pathways to attenuate alcoholic liver injury in mice.This study may provide a new idea for the treatment of alcoholic liver disease and the subsequent study of molecular mechanisms.
